From books, figures, CDs, games, DVDs, ect... plenty of parking space and it right on the corner in the shopping plaza. Inside is bright, spacious, well organized and clean. 15+ dollars for a chainsaw man gashapon figurine. Yes, that's right. 15 whole dollars for a literal mini piece of plastic 30 dollars for a Blu-ray for Halloween (1978) but don't fret! It also comes with a damaged case 40 dollars for a Nintendogs DS scratched damage case with a cartridge, 40 dollars for a 20 year old outdated game that you can easily get for free if you mod your DS in under 15 minutes OR purchase off eBay for 15 bucks. I'm surprised this store is still opened considering their extreme overpriced greed and damaged products being traded for 2 dollars and sold at 30. read more

I called ahead of time asking if the store took anime acrylic stands so that I can drive over to sell them. I was told that as long as they were a decent size and part of a popular series, they'd be willing to evaluate them. After driving for about half an hour to the location, I presented my items for sale at the counter. The worker had told me that they no longer take anime acrylic stands of any size nor any of my anime keychains. I re-iterated that I had spoken with someone earlier that day in regards to the items I had for sale, and the worker firmly shrugged me off saying they don't take them anymore. If you have an eye on growing your book or movie collection, I highly recommend checking out the Garden Grove Bookoff! It's one of the newer (and more organized) locations of the Japanese used bookstore, and carries a large variety: from left to right when you walk in figurines, video games, films, books, cassettes, and vinyls. Make sure to come back frequently as the inventory regularly changes! I've picked up fiction, jazz records, and even some wishlist flicks for my dad. While I do think Bookoff in general recently raised their prices (e.g. Blu-rays averaged $5 but are now $7 apiece) thanks to market conditions, you can still find some great deals like $3 clearance movies, $2 books, and $1 vinyls. Associates always greet you when you enter :) I haven't traded in my books or movies since I always tend to walk out with more than I came in with - but they'd be happy to answer any questions there, too. Parking is easy; Bookoff is in the corner of a strip mall with plenty of diagonal spaces. read more

I really enjoy this location! It's a good size with a large selection of all types of books, music, movies, and collectibles. The service here is always good as well, they're well staffed and always pleasant to work with. They also give a fair value for your books which is always cool, and their prices are quite fair as well! Bring in your old stuff and leave with new stuff! :) read more

Was very disappointed with the service when selling my figures there. I had 3 set ah my goddess collection figures to sell in a divine white outfit. When it came to process my sale they said that one of the figure base broke when they tried to remove it apart from the other figure base. According to the male cashier he had only applied little force and it broke. Blamed that it was old and attached for a long period of time so it is stuck on. I unfortunately was not present when the incident in question happen so I can not confirm if this was the case. But a quick inspection lead me to highly doubted that excuse given, as it showed signs of being dropped since the figure support stick that goes into the base also broke and there was a hair line crack at the base in question. So now I'm lead to believe if a customer breaks anything in the store, they are liable for it but if a cashier breaks your product you brought in they aren't liable and are S*** out of luck. If it truly was as they said and was stuck, the proper customer service thing to do would be to ask the seller to remove it and if the seller breaks it then they are liable not the store. I do not recommend going here ever again with the customer service and the unfair treatment I felt. read more

Another Yelp find for the win! This is the most organized and clean used bookstore I have ever been to. Which for a lady with OCD this made my heart happy. You can easily find different genres. See all the books clearly. And their condition AMAZING. It took so much will power to not leave with a huge stack of books. Which just means there's another trip in my near future. read more

The customer service is atrocious. There were a people up front and one person at the back. All of which were ignoring more even though I was at the register. They were having a negative conversation while ringing me up, completely ignoring all the while. They didn't even offer a bag to put the stuff i brought in. I've always loved reading books, but finding my next book to read is among my favorite things to do - I can be left in a library or bookstore just perusing aisles, flipping through books and scanning book titles for hours. Bookoff is a dangerous place for someone like me to go with all the bargain books (they have a $1 and $2 section) and none of the books inside are sold at full retail price. This is my second time coming to this location and today I really allowed myself to buy a good amount of books because the majority of them were from the $1 bargain section! They also have a toy section (imported and American sections), music (CDs and Vinyl), dvds, along with collectible item too. I've never asked for help here because I like to just browse and never have come here with a particular item in mind, but every time I've gone to check out, service has been speedy and the cashiers have been very friendly. I have spent untold thousands of dollars at this book off and when it was in Westminster Mall as well as the Book Off in Lakewood. I like supporting local business instead of buying online when I can , but that ends now. Recently I decided I needed to "downsize" my massive collection of music and movies so I began trading them in to Book off Garden Grove. The first batch seemed low in what they offered but I understand they are allowed a good sized mark up. Sadly the next few trips over the price they gave me plummeted and I see the merch put out for sale sometimes for one item as much as a full bag I gave them... then an employee said the quiet part out loud. He noted I'm now classified as a "vendor" because I traded in a certain amount one day or two in a row and their computer began giving me LOWER amounts on my trade ins than other customers! So my loyalty reward for spending thousands of dollars and taking them trade ins that they are marking up tremendous amounts higher is to penalize me... a loyal customer by giving me a penalized "vendor" status and they don't tell their customers this..... SHAME on them. This company has gone from a 5 star favorite to a 0 star business in one swoop. BE HONEST with your customers Book Off.. This might not even be legal in our state... to discriminate ... oh well , I can save gas money never going there again. read more

I've never been to this Bookoff location but I was not disappointed! I definitely took my time looking around at books and everything is so reasonably priced. You can sell your books and other collectibles here as well (video games, dvd's, funko pops, etc). I ended buying two books - one was an Agatha Christie book - And Then There Was None for $1! And the other book was Where the Heart Is for $5.50. I will definitely be back for more. You'll be amazed what you can find in this store. And the service is also great as well. I waited over five hours for them to process a trade and they didn't give me an estimated time other than "Oh it's going to be a while" They did not finish processing my trade and told me to come back tomorrow. I continue to have good experiences at Bookoff. While the magazines that are in Japanese and imported, are quite costly, some of the items have good price. Books are my weakness. And I was thrilled to see a new Bookoff in our neighborhood shopping center. I have frequented this center since my tween years. Yes, that is a long time ago lol. I've seen Thrifty changed to Rite Aid. Lucky to Vons. And Farr's Hallmark stationary and Souplantation disappear. Much has changed. By far, this is the best milestone of happenings in years, or shall I say decades. Bookoff is one of the best used bookstore/music/media/toys around. There is no way you will walk out with nothing. Husband and I were just stopping at the Post office and I had to make one more stop here. The Bargain section is amazing. I found a stack and none were over 2 dollars each. Well, except one. A Cuban art book. Had to get it. The toy section is amazing. All sorts of collectibles, many Japanese ones and lots of Funko Pop for you fans. There is a toy for everyone, young and old. I had to remove myself from this part of the store or I would bring home a few. DVD, CD selection are also fun to peruse. Husband was able to find a couple. Come visit and buy yourself a cookbook, travel book, favorite novel, art book or self-help book! There are tons to choose from! Reading is fundamental! Makes great gifts too! read more

One of the bigger Bookoff locations. They have such a large collection that it's really easy to find yourself being in there for about a half hour or more at a time, which I especially feel guilty about whenever I leave empty handed lol As for staff, I don't normally ask them questions or request help but from overhearing them while browsing they are not only very knowledgeable but respectful and kind to customers. I feel that the used devices are priced a bit higher than they should be. That's my only complaint. I'm not really there for consoles though, but I've noticed that they charge a pretty penny for used (and very worn) handhelds and consoles. Their figure selections are pretty good though. I have a couple characters I collect for and the shelves always have something hiding. Good place, bit high prices when it comes to used electronics, but everything else is reasonable. read more

One of my all time favorite places in California (I am aware there are other locations in other states)! They may not always have the exact movie I came in looking for, but ooh, that's a movie I need! This location is probably my favorite. The staff is so super sweet, never had a single issue with a single employee in the store. Now, a word of caution, it's very easy to spend a lot of money in a store such as this place, but not because the prices are high, but because you find so much you want/need. read more

First i have to say, I LOVE this store because I'm a Blu-ray collector. I have an extra copy of Black Panther Wakanda Forever. NEW AND SEALED with the slipcover. I received the insulting offer of $2. They would resell it for $20+ I was expecting $5-7 realistically. But $2 was just a stupid offer. I asked the young lady why so low, and she said "we may have a Bunch of copies, since it's really popular and sell out a lot.' Nope, there was one copy in ALL THE BLU-RAY SECTION and it was priced at over $20 . Yes i checked. I'm used to getting pennies for old DVDs here and i understand. During my experience at book off today I went in like I've had been in times before I took my time looking at hot wheels I had noticed the pricing was a little bit in the steep side so I had ask a nice young lady why it was priced this way. As the younger cashier was explaining the pricing process for your store and the policy an extremely loud obnoxious and extremely hostile employee by the name of Alex, cut her off and proceeded to yell at me. "Thats the way we do business here if you don't like it sorry bro" I replied with " whoa buddy calm down it's just a question. I don't mean to offend you and I don't need the hostility. I was just wondering." He proceeded to reply, obnoxiously, and Sarcastically I'm not being hostile. You're the one that's hostel here. I had been attending the shopping experience with my two daughters and my wife. I was completely embarrassed to be yelled at in the store for asking a simple question. I immediately left afterwards with my two daughters and wife... When I came to book off, I thought I would be buying some gifts for my family as well as for myself. Went again with some friends and one of them bought a nendoroid for $65 which was missing an accessory (which was priced insane already) but in the parking lot we noticed the tail joint was also completely crushed and stuck in the nendoroid. We returned it instantly but the guy tried to make an excuse saying "that's why it was marked down so cheap" when $65 is a high selling point for the specific figure new. They did not know it was broken when they sold it to us, they do not check the quality of the figures they buy and this book off is so overpriced its laughable. I didn't think it can get worse, please check the prices online for the figures/games you want and compare it to this scam before you waste your money. read more

Very disappointed! If your going to get rid of your DVD's or Blu-Ray's, I'd suggest that if you have the time and patience, TAKE THEM TO A SWAPMEET. I was optimistic thinking I might getting between $0.75 to at least a $1.00 for still in the cellophane wrapper, and even some "collector" editions boxed sets of DVD's. I did have used DVD's too, soooo. But, "Oh no", I got $0.15 per DVD! I had close to 600 DVD's and Blu-Ray. If it wasn't that I needed to clear space quickly and get rid of them quickly, I wouldn't have gone here. read more

Drove out to Book Off excited to shop, but my experience was ruined by an employee named Anthony. I politely asked to see an item behind the counter and mentioned he didn't need to bring it down--he rudely told me "no, only employees" without even looking at me, then ignored me completely. Thankfully, another staff member came over and was helpful, but Anthony's attitude was uncalled for and made the whole visit unpleasant.
