If you have an eye on growing your book or movie collection, I highly recommend checking out the Garden Grove Bookoff! It's one of the newer (and more organized) locations of the Japanese used bookstore, and carries a large variety: from left to right when you walk in figurines, video games, films, books, cassettes, and vinyls. Make sure to come back frequently as the inventory regularly changes! I've picked up fiction, jazz records, and even some wishlist flicks for my dad. While I do think Bookoff in general recently raised their prices (e.g. Blu-rays averaged $5 but are now $7 apiece) thanks to market conditions, you can still find some great deals like $3 clearance movies, $2 books, and $1 vinyls. Associates always greet you when you enter :) I haven't traded in my books or movies since I always tend to walk out with more than I came in with - but they'd be happy to answer any questions there, too. Parking is easy; Bookoff is in the corner of a strip mall with plenty of diagonal spaces.

I really enjoy this location! It's a good size with a large selection of all types of books, music, movies, and collectibles. The service here is always good as well, they're well staffed and always pleasant to work with. They also give a fair value for your books which is always cool, and their prices are quite fair as well! Bring in your old stuff and leave with new stuff! :)

Great selection. Decent prices. They have a good dollar section. Service was great. They gave me a free bag because I spent over $300. Whoops! haha needed to make 2 trips to the car. I came for resources for my clients! Prices could be better.

Just an update from nine months ago. They're beyond reproach, to say the least. $200 for a wii-u and $150 each for a stack of Wii's that will never be played again. Fortunately, it looks like people are reading these reviews and wising up because I was there on a sunday, at noon, and you know what I saw? Empty. Three employees and no customers.

I've always loved reading books, but finding my next book to read is among my favorite things to do - I can be left in a library or bookstore just perusing aisles, flipping through books and scanning book titles for hours. Bookoff is a dangerous place for someone like me to go with all the bargain books (they have a $1 and $2 section) and none of the books inside are sold at full retail price. This is my second time coming to this location and today I really allowed myself to buy a good amount of books because the majority of them were from the $1 bargain section! They also have a toy section (imported and American sections), music (CDs and Vinyl), dvds, along with collectible item too. I've never asked for help here because I like to just browse and never have come here with a particular item in mind, but every time I've gone to check out, service has been speedy and the cashiers have been very friendly. If you're a bookworm, you gotta come check out they're reads!

They moved from the Westminster mall location to this corner location in cypress. Clean and best election of books, figurines, and games. I love that new book smell the store has. They have new and used items (a lot more used than new). They are in the same block as Mika sushi

Books are my weakness. And I was thrilled to see a new Bookoff in our neighborhood shopping center. I have frequented this center since my tween years. Yes, that is a long time ago lol. I've seen Thrifty changed to Rite Aid. Lucky to Vons. And Farr's Hallmark stationary and Souplantation disappear. Much has changed. By far, this is the best milestone of happenings in years, or shall I say decades. Bookoff is one of the best used bookstore/music/media/toys around. There is no way you will walk out with nothing. Husband and I were just stopping at the Post office and I had to make one more stop here. The Bargain section is amazing. I found a stack and none were over 2 dollars each. Well, except one. A Cuban art book. Had to get it. The toy section is amazing. All sorts of collectibles, many Japanese ones and lots of Funko Pop for you fans. There is a toy for everyone, young and old. I had to remove myself from this part of the store or I would bring home a few. DVD, CD selection are also fun to peruse. Husband was able to find a couple. Come visit and buy yourself a cookbook, travel book, favorite novel, art book or self-help book! There are tons to choose from! Reading is fundamental! Makes great gifts too!

Out of the 2 locations I've been to, this has a better parking lot as well. Since the store is a lot bigger, that means a lot more selection of figures, books, manga, videos and more. In general, I do enjoy this store as it has great value. I found quite a few things that were quite cheaper here than if you go to a large retail store. If you have anything that you may want to get rid of (but works very well or in good shape) you can see if they're willing to it and give you an estimate. The staff are helpful to help you (the best of their ability) to find what you are looking for or need.

It's really disappointing to see how far they've fallen, especially when it comes to their pricing…read more I don't know what their strategy is with used games and movies, but they seriously need a reality check. In some cases, their used prices actually exceed MSRP. For example, they're charging $70 for a loose, boxless copy of Pokémon Legends: Z-A for the Nintendo Switch 2--which is full retail price for a second-hand, incomplete item. Their trade-in values are just as bad. It's not uncommon for them to offer you a tenth of what they plan to resell your item for. I get that the secondhand market relies on profit margins, and that they're banking on uninformed sellers looking for quick cash, but they're doing it at the expense of their loyal, long-time community. At this point, books are the only category where you can still find a decent deal. For anything else, you're much better off using eBay or finding a different store.

As usual, I am surprised that I had not dropped a review for this bookstore, and I am here at least once a month, at the very least. Immense selection of books greeting cards, gifts, fiction, nonfiction everything is arranged and organized accordingly. I just love this bookstore. Great big parking lot that is free but it is shared among many businesses at the Long Beach town center. Great experience each time. Prices are fair (compared to Amazon?) at least you can actually pick up a book. Read it at the café and if you decide to buy it go for it if not, then just return it.

You could potentially get away from buying books and just open them up and read them there at the store. They have a large variety that I dare say it's at the same level as if you shopped online, they seem to also have "saucey" content in the mangas sections. The staff is friendly and are knowledgeable so they can recommend you a book! They also have this... $40 Yearly Barnes and Nobles Subscription that knocks off 10% (20% at rare occasions within the year) for every purchase as well as a free cafe drink upgrade if the bookstore has a cafe (NOT A STARBUCKS, THEY WILL NOT ACCEPT STATBUCKS GIFT CARDS), and a free annual tote bag (you cannot double dip for a second bag until you renew it). Unless you're planning on spending $400+ for the next 12 months or you're a regular cafe go'er, I wouldn't say this is for you. The seating for the cafe is fine, but can fill up real easily with most customers that intend to stay more than an hour.
