Megabus is super cheap, which is awesome if you're on a budget. I've found the buses to be pretty comfy too! Can't go wrong with a comfy ride with (sometimes working) Wi-Fi for less than $20! read more

I was only in here while waiting for my son's bus to Toronto. It wasn't too bad. It was pretty clean. The employees were nice. It was a good sized station. There's a TIM HORTON's inside ,which is a HUGE PLUS !!!!!! I've never been in a bus station before. The only thing that I didn't like, was seeing homeless ppl & some scary looking ppl wandering around inside. If you're not catching a bus or waiting with or for someone who is, they should not be allowed inside. Made me paranoid read more

I will never use Megabus again. If you book through the internet, you have to pay an additional fee. I was promised WiFi and there was no WiFi available. Finally, the driver refused to throw out a bag of garbage that had become full. When I pointed this out, she started blaming the passengers. When I said their customer service sucked, she threatened to kick me off the bus. Avoid them like the plague. read more

First impressions with me. Right before Thanksgiving is when I bought tickets for my dad and I to go from Buffalo airport to Toronto. You can see the stop from the inside but it's a good 10 minute walk with bags, so we waited outside in the freezing cold for it and it was late. When the unfriendly driver shows up, he looks at our confirmation number and doesn't help anyone with their bags which I've never seen before. I didn't see any outlets on the bus which was aggravating (unless they were under my seat instead of in front of it). When we got off in Toronto, we has another driver who my dad noticed was yelling at some girls. Upon the return, our trip cancelled so when I called, they said I would have to go online to request a refund. Why can't they process it over the phone? When I got to the states, I requested it through my email and was told it would take 3-5 days. To this date, I have only been refunded one ticket when they insist I was refunded both. Now I get to go through the dispute process through my bank. I'll stick with what I know- greyhound. read more

This past weekend I took Megabus from Toronto to the Buffalo Airport and everything went fine. We left promptly at 8am, spent an hour at the border (945-1045) with 4 busses ahead of us, and reached the airport around 1120. This was the second time I have used Megabus and both have been good experiences. Professional drivers and clean and modern busses (I didnt use the bathroom but didnt hear any complaints) make this so much better than Greyhound. Only complaint is the WiFi, it has been spotty both times. read more

Worse bus experience EVER! I thought the greyhound was bad. The Megabus ruined my entire trip to Buffalo from Baltimore. The bus broke down at 2am, so the rude drivers said a new bus will be here in one hour. Nooo it took 5 hours. I missed my $230 training in buffalo b/c of the inconvenience of the Megabus. So I know Megabus usually gets a lot of hate, but I can honestly say they have never let me down. I have been on enough of these to say with confidence that as long as you understand you're not paying for a luxury experience, you should have a fine time. Here is the deal, you're paying anywhere from $1 to probably around $45 to travel pretty substantial distances which normally would cost a fortune in gas. So sometimes they are an hour late or the wifi is shotty, what were you expecting? As long as you go into your Megabus experience understanding that you get what you pay for, you really shouldn't have anything to complain about. I have taken Megabus probably at least 25-30 times and I have always reached my destination on time and fully in-tacked, and for $1, what more can I ask for? read more

We use Megabus regularly for Buffalo to Toronto trips. They are consistently 1-3 hrs late, this latest one being just over 2. My boyfriend texted me when they were leaving customs and heading to the station, what should be a 6 min drive. 45 min later the bus pulls up and he tells me the driver GOT LOST between the border and the station. The driver finally went on the intercom to ask if anyone knew how to get to the station. How are the drivers not equipped with maps/GPS?? Is getting to the destination not their primary task? He also purchased a "transferable" return ticket in Toronto. The agent sold it as transferable and never mentioned any fee. Turns out "transferable" tickets are regular tickets that require additional taxes and fees to change- FYI. The customer service supervisor hung up on him when he tried to relay these issues via phone. We've emailed about other issues and get stock email responses that don't actually have anything to do with what we said- clear they didn't read it/are using bot "reps." I don't know if I would take megabus out of Buffalo again. I would only do it if it was a last resort. I've taken megabus many times before, but this experience wasn't the best. In the bus terminal right across are the greyhound buses, which may be a better alternative. My bus was supposed to come at 10:30 pm, but it didn't come until 11pm. Unlike other megabus experiences, there was no one there to give the passengers any information on the buses whereabouts. To add on, there were no texts or emails sent out expressing if it was running behind. When it finally arrived we were informed by the driver that he had to check the bus, because he just got it and wanted to make sure it was good. This is something I really appreciate because I don't want the bus breaking down in middle of nowhere. When we finally started boarding the bus 20 mins later, he made all the passengers put their own luggage under the bus as he checked them in. Granted he was the only one running everything, but there were many people that struggled. Thankfully the outlets on the bus were working. However, throughout this 8 hr ride, half the time the bus was extremley hot. Me and others had to take off many of our layers and even after that, it was still an uncomfortable temperature. As we went from stop to stop, there were no announcements so majority of the time I didn't know where we exactly were. He didn't even announce the rest stop or how long we would be there for. The thing I hated the most was the green light that stayed on overhead. I understand since it is a double decker bus, it is probably necessary at night. But, that just made trying to fall asleep more difficult. If I ever had to end up in a situation where I had to take this bus again, I would definitely bring a blindfold. I am grateful for arriving safely, but this will always be my last choice. read more

The customer service representative didn't have any "status" until after an hour of delay and yet there was no definitive ETA of the bus. One of the worst bus experiences of my life. To be fair, this was partly because I had a very cranky seat neighbor who wanted to fight over the armrest (sorry, guy, can't help it if my arm *touches* the thing) but even that is partly their fault because if the seats weren't so damn uncomfortable he might not have been so put out. First, the bus arrived about 20 minutes late with no announcements and no updates available on their website. (Their website is another problem -- at one point, I wanted to check on the status of my trip from Buffalo to NYC and according to the site, that trip didn't even exist.) Then it took another 5 10 minutes for the driver to come out and even begin checking people in -- I have no idea what they were doing in that time, because hardly anyone got off. It seemed there was some kind of driver handoff but it was done very poorly. Meanwhile, a packed double-decker bus was sitting there getting hotter by the minute. The AC was another issue -- I thought I would get some relief when the bus *finally* started and the vents came on, but I only felt the most weak and anemic streams of cold air I could imagine. It was barely there and I was sweating for another hour or two before I got used to it. The overhead vents were hard to see and adjusting them didn't seem to make any difference at all. The moment I sat down, I noticed how hard and uncomfortable the seats were. It seemed like my seat was almost tipping forward and I couldn't just relax into it. Normally it takes a few hours on a bus before you feel like you can't get comfortable in a seat, but on this bus, nope, it felt miserable right away. The seat did not move even an inch so there was no relief to be had by adjusting anything. Now I was tempted to give them just 1 star because I couldn't wait to get off the damn thing, but I have to give credit where it is due: the drivers were very polite and friendly, the bus was clean, the wifi was weak but functioning, and the skylight on the top deck was pretty cool. But overall? Not worth it. AT ALL. And for my trip, it wasn't even any cheaper than the other offerings! I could just as easily go with Trailways or Greyhound for the same price or even less. I wanted to try them out to see if they are a viable option. So, no thank you, Megabus. Never doing this again. read more

Fair price (for full fair tickets - the people that score the cheap seats are totally winning). Much better than Greyhound and more direct. On the Double Decker, I liked being up top with the skylight. Also cool that they have outlets at each seat for charging devices. BUT... Drivers are not really friendly or helpful. I don't love that of the 10-hour trip I was only able to access wifi for about 2 hours - really spotty service. Nor did I appreciate that they turn all lights off, disallowing me to read while other passengers were free to talk on their phones, listen to music, snore and cough loudly. It would have been nice to have been able to escape a little in a book. read more

On 03 Jan 2012 I used Megabus to return to Philly after spending a few days in Buffalo. The bus was delayed ninety minutes due to an issue at Customs. The driver was in the terminal waiting area and kept us informed as to the progress. Loading and ticket inspection were fast. The outlets worked, the wifi was spotty and slow. I did not use the restroom but I did not hear any complaints from the passengers near me who did. Two older release date movies were shown but I can not recall the titles as I napped most of the way. Kevin, the driver, was safe, courteous, professional and informative. We made up thirty minutes of the lost time by reducing the length of the Syracuse stop and we might have made up more time had weather conditions along the thruway and I-81 not slowed us down. Kevin stuck to the speed limits and operated the bus in a safe manner. Overall, not a bad trip. read more

Mega bus.... If it sounds too good to be true it probably sucks! 10 degree temperature in Buffalo we were scheduled to leave at 7:50. At 8:05 we called to see where the bus was and we're told it was running 6 minutes behind. So we waited. At 8:30 we called and we're told it was stuck in traffic. At 9:10 realizing we missed our 12:30 appointment in Toronto and frozen solid we went home. At home we called a third time only to realize they had never contacted the bus and we're just giving us they set responses. Because they then said they were going to actually check with the GPS on the bus and contact the driver. WHAT??? All contact from there was meet with rude customer service. The next time some one comes to my restaurant and expects to get there meal in 20_ minutes and I get it to them in 2 hours I guess my response will be to bad...... read more

After reading all the negative comments I was a little nervous about the trip I was making from Buffalo to Philadelphia and back. My trip was a pleasant surprise. The bus arrived in Buffalo on time and departed for Philadelphia on time. Each way we made two rest stops - one for 15 minutes and one for 30. The bus seats were clean and generally comfortable. Much less cramped than the newer Greyhound buses. I was a little surprised by the "station" in Philadelphia - it's just a sidewalk stop. No building or shelter. I worried about this for the return trip as I was leaving at 10 pm. Fortunately it did not rain and there were plenty of other people waiting with me so I didn't feel unsafe. While I liked the trip I would not make it in the winter- standing outside unsheltered would not be pleasant. Overall, I had no complaints about the trip and would take it again - in nice weather. read more

Hello! I have recently taken Megabus from Buffalo, NY USA to New York, NY USA. Here is what I had happened to me: Problem #1: The bus showed up 4 hours late coming from Toronto, ON. It was absolutely ridiculous. The driver didn't even speak to us, yet he was sitting at the Transportation Center right next to me. He had an attitude like he didn't want to be bothered and you guys don't have anybody at the counter to answer any questions. Problem #2: when the bus finally showed up, I ran to it's spot before even the doors opened. A driver got off the bus, followed by a passenger. The first driver said that he was traveling to Buffalo only and he will not be back. So I got in and started looking for an available seat. i couldn't find one, so I went to see both drivers. The first driver said that passenger sat on a regular seat on the second floor and there should have been an available seat. So I asked the second driver to go and find my seat. All he did was walked around, and told me that no seats were available. I was mad and said that he should find me my seat- that I PAID FOR. He put me right behind him, on a seat that wasn't even able to fit in.I had round up my body to somehow make it ok. We left. Problem #3: I fell asleep and woke up when we made a stop and my back was hurting insanely along with my hips and legs. I asked the driver to find my seat again and all did was exactly the same- walked around to tell me that no seats were available. I was getting more and more mad. I told him it was his responsibility to find my seat. He said I should have reserved it. I explained to him that this option was NOT available on this particular trip and he started arguing with me , telling me I should be happy that I have SOME seat. I told him: how is it possible that one passenger got off the bus and I got on it right away and nothing was available?! He said he didn't know... We took off... Problem # 4: We made another stop and the driver announced that we are having the final break before NYC and another driver will take over the bus in 15 min. We waited for over an hour!!!! Problem # 5: We were 5 hours late when we got to NYC and I missed my business affairs that I planned before leaving at 7 pm the same day... So think before you book it! read more

Stranded in Buffalo! $89 FOR TWO MISSED BUSES AND NO REFUNDS! If you are reading these reviews before using Megabus, I commend you. I wish I had done so. I last used Megabus 5 years ago to go from Albany, NY to New York City. It was okay. I would've rated that experience 3 stars. It wasn't good, but it wasn't bad either. That was 5 years ago. This latest experience, however, was my last ride with Megabus. Due to the incompetence of both the driver and the company, I was unable to use two of the three tickets I bought: Buffalo to Chattanooga (cost: $75) and Chattanooga to Nashville (cost: $14). The total cost of the missed tickets was $89. The bus was supposed to depart Syracuse at 5:50, but it was about ten to fifteen minutes late. That was no big deal. However, the driver stopped before the first Rochester exit for a "15 minute break" that seemed much longer than 15 minutes. He then drove past the exit and had to turn around and take the second (slower, longer) exit into Rochester. By the time the bus arrived in Buffalo, it was at least 45 minutes late and caused me to miss the other buses. I attempted to contact Megabus by phone several times that night after learning that I missed the Buffalo-Chattanooga bus. The first couple "customer service" reps to respond simply hung up on. I finally got a call back from Cheryl at customer service (908-282-7420) at 2:30 that morning, but by then I'd already found alternative travel arrangements and gone to sleep for the night. I have tried to return the phone call when I had time on Thursday and Friday night, but was unable to reach anyone to explain my situation. I sent an email and finally received an answer much later. Perhaps because it's easier to cheat people over email than it is when you're confronted with the voice of another human being at the other end of the phone line. Megabus' website says the company is not responsible for delays caused by traffic, road conditions, or weather. However, the FAQ on their website says that "where Megabus fails to provide on time-reliable service for reasons wholly within our control refunds, or alternative travel arrangements, may be offered." WRONG. I was not offered a refund or alternative travel arrangements. All I got was the cold shoulder, and an even colder email from the company. Miranda, the Megabus "Customer Service Specialist," informed me that "we require that you allow two hours in between trips to account for any delays that may be experienced." That's B.S. I have never had a layover that long with any competing bus service. I won't name the competitors in this review because this is about Megabus and their shoddy service. Just name a competitor; they're better than Megabus. They can't be any worse. Go back with me, for a moment, to the night and morning I was stranded in Buffalo. After waiting for the return call that never came, I bought my own ticket to Nashville from a competitor at the Buffalo bus terminal, at a cost of $125. Combined with the $89 for the two missed buses and the $14 cost of the one bus that did show up in Syracuse, the trip cost me $228. I could have FLOWN from Syracuse to Nashville for a lower cost than that. Here's my advice to anybody taking the bus: buy from a reputable company with a customer service desk at the station and a sensible return policy. I bought a return ticket with a competing intercity bus service from Nashville to Utica for $99. The bus from Buffalo to Syracuse was about 45 minutes late. The time between arrival in Syracuse and departure for Utica was only 20 minutes (the SAME amount of time between arrival and departure in Buffalo with Megabus!) That competing company HELD the Utica bus until the connecting passengers got there. What a concept! I've come to accept that Megabus will cling to my $89 as hard as they can, even if it costs them much, much more than that in future revenue I would've spent with them. They don't care. They got my money, and even without my future money they'll make bank off future suckers like me who didn't read the reviews or the fine print before buying tickets. I'm writing to warn you, that potential future mark in the Megabus scam, so maybe you can save $89, or even more than that. Even if it's only $14. If you take my advice, you'll be $14 richer. If after reading this review you still want to buy a Megabus ticket, do yourself a favor: take the money, burn it, and flush the ashes. You'll be out the same amount of money, but you won't be stranded by Megabus and have to spend a night and morning trying to sort out that headache. This was the first time that I booked megabus instead of greyhound and I will never make that mistake again. First of all the guy said to my nephew "if that bag is heavy I cannot lift it." That wasn't even the case and I find that offensive. Secondly, we got on the bus and saw there was no overhead compartments. I was forced to purchase seats with a table and the space was tight. For a while we traveled and no one else got on so I moved to the other side to be more comfortable. We arrived in Syracuse and the person comes on the bus. I was sleepy so I moved slower than usual and the space was small. After I moved the bus helper asked the white female "oh did she take too long to move." The woman said she was just going to sit on the other side because there was no leg room. I in return stated it was our first time on the bus and that we did not realize there were no overhead compartments. I even tried to make space. I'm offended this a**hole asked if I took too long to move and the nerve of this lady to say there was no leg room. I will never travel with this bus company ever again. I only saved a total of $2 and for this experience I should have just stuck with greyhound. People are so disgusting and racist and I will not tolerate that kind of behavior. If they had zero stars I would give megabus a big fat zero on all levels. read more

My experiences with Megabus are less than stellar. The first two times I took the bus from Buffalo to NYC it was delayed a few hours (for a midnight departure, being a female waiting alone, this was a big deal) and we were never informed of when the bus would arrive, even after calling customer service (which was closed). I will again be taking Megabus to NYC (unfortunately they are so cheap I can't swear them off forever). My issue this time is that I need to change my ticket. Megabus policy is that it must be done more than 24 hrs. before departure. I tried this and it didn't work... I called customer service and they said I was locked out of my reservation for an hour and to try again later. I did this and it didn't work, so I called again (this went on from 11am-6pm) I called customer service 6 times throughout the afternoon trying to problem solve and only after many calls did I receive a very helpful customer service rep who transferred me to claims escalation who informed me that this was an ongoing problem today and that everyone was locked out of changing reservations (why didn't they tell me this 6 hours/ 5 phone calls ago!?) The woman I spoke to was able to change my outgoing reservation but would not change my return reservation (so now I'm coming back before I leave?) and told me I would have to do that myself online when the system was back up (FYI I spoke to her 5 hrs ago, she said the problem would be resolved within the next few hours, but as of this posting I still can't change my return reservation). Also, I take issue with the fact that if I were able to change my reservation online I would be credited the entire amount of my original ticket ($110)towards re-booking of a ticket but because I had to re-book one leg over the phone ($46) I had to lose the difference (original price : $55, $9 loss) of the "there" journey and then when I re-book my return journey ($55) I will have to pay the $9 difference back (because the new return ticket is $55) therefore paying $18 extra... Let's just hope the bus is on time this time around because I'm not sure I can deal with anymore of this BS read more
