I took the Mega bus from the Prime outlets in Grand Prairie off of I-20 and HWY 360. The pick up spot is near Saks Fifth Avenue, and there are small signs in the parking lot towards the back of the shopping center. The bus was clean, and on time. The driver was VERY good, I wasn't nervous or agitated which says a lot since I'm a nervous passenger. I was able to watch movies on my phone and just relax. My trip took us to downtown Dallas' Fuel City for pick up of more passengers, then a straight shot to Conroe, a park and ride, literally under the bridge of I-45. It's a little shocking that there isn't staff or a building, but I made sure my ride would be there so I wasn't scared. I WOULD have been anxious as an older woman if I had to stand under that bridge, which is not near anything within walking distance, as an older woman. I will definitely take advantage of the Mega bus again, my ticket was only around $40 all in, which driving would have cost me that much in gas. My brother however, the one that picked me up, a former Cop, was less than pleased about the lack of safety, so keep that in mind. The internet didn't work for the first hour or so, but eventually when I tried it was available. Weirdly there are no USB outlets, you have to have a standard 110v wall brick to charge your phone, and the outlet on my row was very loose, so I had to prop my bag against it to charge my phone. But again, the bus was clean enough, and I would use the service again, I found it very comfortable. read more

Hmmm...don't really know where to start. I give the service (ride, promptness, comfort, convenience 5 stars; the Grand Prarie terminal 1 Star. Since theres not a lot of good info on the GP terminal, I'll concentrate on that. I was happy to find out there IS free parking provided if you buy RT tix & you won't be longer than 7 days. Parking is in back lot and seems secure w fence etc. Waiting areas are kinda dumpy - a small ACed room inside, and shaded area outside. Both seem safe, but I wasn't there at night. Other advice- Show up w food and drink 4 the ride; only need to get there 15 min before departure; and there r some large convenience stores (racetrack) right around the corner. So I give the location a 1 Star cuz it's a dump and could be easily improved. All the workers are unavailable sitting in back office w AC; the signage is helpful but it's mostly small printed off pieces of paper stuck on walls - go get some permanent and larger ones! The trash bins were overflowing w trash; and a little lawn care, cleanliness, and better furniture w go a long way. Overall, I recommend the Megabus but think I'd drive to downtown D stop next time. read more

The bus broke down on one of the stops so a few of the remaining passengers, including me, had to load up into a car and get to the last stop through that. After we arrived, it turns out they forgot to load up my bag into the car, and I had to wait for them to get my bag back from the previous stop. The ride was supposed to be about 3 hours, but I spent nearly twice the time because of all those issues. They did say they would refund me (which wasn't really worth considering I lost 3 hours, but better than nothing), but in the end all they did was give me a voucher for the cost of the ticket for my next ride with them. Second trip leaving for Houston from Grand Prairie in two months. I chose to leave DFW from Grand Prairie because you can park your car for free, even for a couple of days. You will just have to speak to a representative at the front office. They were really helpful. There is a form that you have to fill with today's date, departure date, and return date. It's in the back, but I still feel safe leaving my car there. On both occasions, the bus left right on time. They handled our bags quickly and gently. Seats are comfortable and clean. read more

Megabus is not for everyone, but it is for M.E.!!! Rode non-stop to Houston for $3 each way the first trip Rode non-stop for $5 each way the second trip. Prices vary depending on how many seats are sold. Service is VERY professional. ErvIn was our bus driver and was friendly, funny and courteous. Bag handlers and ticket takers were johnny on the spots...fast, nice, efficient, caring. I even accidentally left my bag in the gravel parking lot only realizing 3 miles down the road, i got there 5 minutes later and they had already locked it up safely (I didn't even have my name on it and it could have been gone so fast) Phone customer service is great, the 2 times I called with annoying questions, they alleviated all my worries and helped me a great deal with care and comfort. Bus departed and arrived right on time. I am very impressed. Cozy relaxing ride in slight rain made for great 'me' time of reading, sleeping, day-dreaming. Megabus is better than Greyhound .... but with a major caveat. There are some organization and service issues. After my trip I cannot, in good faith, recommend them if you are on any kind of time restraint. For both trips from Austin to Dallas and back again neither bus left on time or arrived on time. But let me start from the beginning and outline my trips and allow you to make up your own mind. First they pick you up in a parking lot beside the Dobie, there is no indoor area and no seating so you are dealing with the elements and leaving in December that kinda sucks. The Austin employees were much nicer and did a good job of having separate lines for each location plus they organized the bags into groups for the different Dallas stops (Downtown or Grand Prairie). All in all we got off to a good start. Once on the bus they showed a movie (Pursuit of Happiness) and the bus driver was really friendly, although the wifi is crap and does not work consistently. Now on to Dallas, the service people were extremely rude, at one point they began yelling at our bus driver for opening the doors before they were ready, blocking people from getting off the bus and throwing the luggage around haphazardly. At one point a lady said "Why are they being so rude and yelling" to which multiple people answered "that is Dallas for you" which drew a good laugh. But all in all Dallas was a terrible experience and to add to it we were an hour late arriving, but I will chalk that up to holiday traffic. The trip to Dallas was not terrible and did not make me feel bad about choosing Megabus for my trip. Now fast forward 5 days to my return trip. We arrive at the downtown location and the service people line everyone up but no one knew if it was the Austin/San Antonio line or the Houston line, and none of the employees were interested in helping. Luckily everyone kinda helped everyone else get where they needed to be. They did not start checking tickets until the bus arrived and unloaded so we were 30 minutes late loading the bus and 45 minutes late leaving. Yet again the service people were a terrible experience. Once we were on the bus everything was smooth although we did not get a movie on our return trip and due to holiday traffic we were 2 hours late getting back to Austin. Yet again the wifi did not work consistently on this bus either. All in all, you get what you pay for and the overall experience was better than Greyhound since there were less crazy people aboard the bus. I would like to see a better terminal system for loading and unloading. And it would be nice to have a better wifi option. I would/will use them again but they have some major room for improvement if they want to make a dent in the long distance transportation market. I will chalk this up to being a new player in the market and will update my review after my next use. read more

So the cheap routes special is over, sort of. Price is determined by popularity, for lack of a better word. So the further out you purchase your ticket the cheaper it will be. There are no refunds and you can't cancel. You can however, use what you spent as a "credit" for a future trip. Unless you missed the bus and didn't do a same day reschedule. Then you just lose that money. Kind of sucks! Their customer service is absolutely horrible. They can't tell you anything, can't figure out where the bus is, can't give you a refund etc. Also, it is still freezing cold on these buses. And the wifi doesn't work. read more

I was extremely disappointed that this location did not use the actual blue megabuses I've been accustomed to riding in. Instead of a double decker bus, we were in a regular coach bus with no power outlets and uncomfortable seats. Traveling from Dallas to Houston has been my longest trip on Megabus so far. I usually take it going to Austin from Houston. The ride was smooth and our bus driver was sweet. I had no trouble with the passengers around me even though it was a full bus. Even with a little traffic in Dallas and on 45, we managed to arrive 10 minutes early! This was my first megabus experience. Now I have rode Greyhound before and I will have to say my megabus experience wasn't bad at all. Plus the price is good too!! I was kind of worried about not having the actual megabus but a charter bus instead because the previous post. Gladly the blue double decker arrived in a timely fashion and and left on time. Now the Grand Prairie location has a covered outside as well as an inside area with bathrooms and waiting area. They also have reserved parking so you can park your own car and don't have to get dropped off, and it's FREE. Which I wish I would have known. The ride was smooth and the Wifi worked for surfing social media sites, email and the Internet but every time I tried to watch a movie on Netflix it wouldn't stream. The convenience of the outlet for charging electronics are great. My first choice will always be to fly but if I really had to I would use the Megabus again. You can't beat $34 round trip. Suggestion: Limit your water intake so you can decrease your bathroom trips. As a girl it really suck trying to balance yourself squatting over the toilet as the bus is bouncing down the high way. They have hand rails to use but with the smell and close quarters I just wanted to hurry up and get out. I hate public bathrooms and I hate them 10x more on buses. Getting a reserved set is not needed. I would say the only benefit is if you are traveling with a group of people. Or if it's raining they will allow you to broad first. Bring a blanket. They keep it pretty cold and they claim that the temp can't be adjusted. read more

I took the Megabus this past weekend from Austin to Houston for a total of about $17. I'm conflicted with whether or not I "enjoyed" the experience, but I'll try to relay it as truthfully as possible and explain why I chose 3 stars. From Austin to Houston, our bus was 45 minutes late to arrive and the driver seemed a bit frustrated while we were boarding. From Houston back to Austin, the bus that we were supposed to board at 3:15 failed to change its display to show that its destination was Austin, and still showed "Austin to Houston to another Houston stop" from the incoming trip. For this reason we didn't board even though it was roughly the time we were supposed to, because we observed that many buses passed through the Pierce St. stop. This resulted in our inquiry to the Megabus personnel about the arrival of our Austin destination bus, to which we received the response that it was the one that just left: the bus with the incorrect display. However unfair it was, we were informed that we were supposed to be standing in line instead of waiting in our car and that there was a $5 bus change fee for us to get on the next bus at 5:15. My two good friends talked with the Pierce Megabus stop supervisor and personnel about if we could get the fee waived due to the incorrect display, and luckily and gracefully enough he understood our situation and let us get on the 5:15. This was something that to me, showed that Megabus, despite its relatively lax times and however "unreliable" but still functioning service, has a supervisor at the Pierce stop location that really cares about their job, the people that Megabus transports, and showed a great level of customer service (despite how unfair the other personnel at the location might have thought it was). The return bus left Houston at 5:15 and arrived in Austin at 9:15 because the driver was a little unsure of the route, making this a trip of 4 hours (when the trip should have taken roughly 3). Also, the wifi was completely non-functional and not loading, while on the way there it was quite spotty and only worked the latter half of the trip. Pros: The personnel care (waived our change fee due to our mix-up) and the prices are cheap! Cheaper if you book earlier in advance and still cheaper than the Greyhound or Texas Express (for UT students). Grade: A Cons: Terrible wifi, unreliable times (perhaps only based on my experience), and operations that seem overlooked at times (i.e. the lack of switching destination displays). Awful experience. The bus was an hour late departing. I understand that road conditions are out of their control -- the real issue is that they did not communicate with passengers at all. I didn't see any employees, no one announcing an ETA, and I had no idea if I had just missed my bus. When it did show up, they didn't tell anyone waiting inside. If someone hadn't opened the door right as someone outside was yelling "last call", I would have missed my bus. The ride back stopped randomly in the middle of the trip for about half an hour, again without any communication about what was going on. We were left to think about what was to become of us. Was I to sit there forever, baking with on and off AC in the Texas heat? Oh, and the safety video played on repeat with full volume for the entire 4 hour trip back from Austin. When I brought these issues up to megabus, customer service told me "sorry, we can't control road conditions and the AC is out of the drivers control." Can you see where it addresses the issue of communication and the safety video? I would absolutely recommend taking a greyhound instead of megabus. I've used both for my trips to Austin, and the quality of service and trip on greyhound is way above what I got from megabus. read more

I paid $16 each way, so I'm probably being pickier than if I'd paid $1. I'm looking at this as an alternative to driving, but one that is barely cheaper-driving costs me $40 round trip, the Megabus is about $33. I was hoping that it would be more convenient than driving. So far, no dice. So far, the bus arrived on time, so that's good. But then we made a 15 minute stop in this allegedly nonstop trip. Not awesome. Also, if you get off the bus, you have to wait until the driver gets back to be allowed back on. Enjoy that 100* parking lot! Infinitely more annoying: the world's loudest kids' movie is playing. Headphones can't block it out. There are only a couple of kids on the bus, and I don't think they're even watching it. I tried turning it down, but failed. Noise blocking headphones would be great, if I already owned a pair, but I'd have to make a ton of slightly-cheaper-than-driving trips to pay for them. read more

While I was looking for a cost-efficient way to travel to Chicago, I stumbled upon the option to use the Megabus. When I went to get a quote on how much it would cost me, I knew I couldn't choose any other way. Ladies and Gentlemen, I paid $19.50 to travel from Dallas, TX to Chicago, IL. Seriously folks, you're not going on a date night to your local Chili's and spending less than that these days. Now here comes the line I think we all saw coming, you get what you pay for! As far as affordability goes, there isn't a better option out there for you right now. Being able to make a trip from Texas to Chicago for less than $20 is asinine. And you almost have to wonder how they make a profit. In my eighteen hours spent in a Megabus last week, I think I saw the greatness that Megabus is capable of becoming and just how bad they really can be. To do Megabus a fair service, I'm going to split my review into the two buses I took during my trip. |Grand Prairie to Memphis| I boarded the first Megabus a little before 11 a.m. last Wednesday and did my best to prepare for the unknown. I crawled into the first seat on the top floor and enjoy the big window in front of me. As a photographer, I would kill for the vantage point I had in that bus at times. We made a few stops on our way to Memphis, once in Dallas, once on the border of Arkansas/Texas and then once in Little Rock. Now I'll be honest, this bus doesn't stop in the most eye-pleasing areas. Little Rock was plagued with heavy traffic and the Gas Station we pulled into looked like it was being held up by a 2x4s. But, lets not judge the bus on the stops. At least they're letting us stretch our legs right? My trip from Texas to Memphis was nothing short of amazing. I enjoyed it so much that I was ready to start endorsing it to all of my friends who frequently travel. Each seat comes with it's own Air Vents and Electrical outlet. I had a sweater on so it felt perfect on the bus to me but there were some who said they wished they would have dressed a little heavier. I doubt it was much cooler than 68. I had my computer and phone charged the entire time and I was able to enjoy WiFi sparingly. If you've got movies, music, games or whatever on a computer or tablet, I can't see why you wouldn't enjoy this trip. The bus arrived twenty minutes early to Memphis which I thought was surprising and I can't speak highly enough of the Bus Driver who was informative, polite and very humorous as he provided us updates and instructions. If I were judging my trip off of the ride from Texas to Memphis, Megabus would get 5 stars. I'm not exaggerating. |Memphis to Chicago| This is where things started go wrong and where I started to recognize why I got this trip for so cheap. We had a four hour layover in Memphis which I had thought I was prepared for. However, I was a bit surprised when we pulled into a bus stop in what was the "less than touristic" side of Memphis. The Neighborhood had the occasional fluorescent street lights on a corner here and there. The only place you could visit in walking distance was a liquor store, a gas station and the bus station. The gas station wasn't okay with people sitting inside unless they were constantly making purchases or buying food from the Subway inside. Thus we grabbed our bags and headed for the bus stop. At this point, we were seeking warmth more than comfort. But warmth came at a price as the station was full of homeless people who were seeking the same escape. The station became almost unbearable from the smell of many who hadn't bathed in weeks and then those who were waiting on a bus that would take them home from their drunken evening outside of the liquor store. I was a bit surprised that the Megabus didn't have an accommodating location to wait in but I made due. And by "making due", I mean I waited out in the low 30 degree weather for three hours for my next bus. This bus unlike the other, arrived twenty minutes late for our pick-up. I quickly found a seat but as the bus was busy, I had to give up the seat next to me. This isn't a complaint, I paid for one seat...not two. My only complaint is that the seats aren't too large, so this stranger ending up accidentally/easily leaning on me at various times through our overnight trip. I struggled to fall asleep as the driver continuously came over the intercom throughout the night to provide updates. Daytime that was great but at night many of us just wanted to get a few hours rest. They turned on the heater, so high that many of us were shedding every bit of clothing we had to avoid sweating. And the heaters for those on the inside of the seats, would singe your legs if you got too close and have them sweating regardless of how far. We made a few more stops to stretch our legs but sometimes left earlier or later than the time specified by the driver. And then we made one final stop before Chicago so the driver, not the rest of the bus, could stretch their legs. This bus was agonizing. read more

Okay, so I had the best a worst experience bus trip of my life. Trip 1 Dallas to Houston on a Thursday 7:15 to 1145 on the morning: smoothest ride. Left and arrived on time. No complaints other than a women talking on her phone for the first 45 minutes of an early morning trip. DO NOT BE THAT PERSON! Trip 2 Houston to Dallas on Monday 915am to 3:30pm (arrival time suppose to be 130): Absolute misery! Bus driver left Houston without his driver license so he had to pull over and wait for another driver to come and take his spot. Had us running behind schedule, no biggie, accidents happen. Finally left houston around 1015 and before 11 all the passengers including myself noticed it was very VERY VERY cold. All our vents were shut. The lady came over the intercom saying she could not raise the temperature,that it was set. Okay, Im a polar bear. I love the cold. I am the person who would rather have an icy in a snow storm then be in a desert with a hot cup of coffee. It was miserable on this bus! I would like to say it was 50 degrees but felt like 40. The ac vents on the top sides (not the ones you can control yourself) shooting at you nonstop for four and half hours was not fun. Luckily, I had a thin blanket to cover myself and a pillow to block the airflow that felt like a harsh winter punishment. It was cold and wet outside as well. We stopped for a 15 minute break, didnt do that on the first trip. Anyways, people bought beach towels and hoodies from buckees to alleviate the discomfort and possibly help to not get frost bite before arriving to Dallas. Dallas was 50 degrees when getting off bus with wind chill of 45. Felt like 70 degrees outside after getting off that bus. The best tips I have for you: 1. get on bus with layers of clothing. If not, wear long sleeve and pants and take sweat pants and a sweat shirt along with a blanket and extra socks and gloves in your carry on. Sounds crazy I know but if you choose not to, read this review and suffer like we did, that is your fault. FAIR WARNING! 2. take snacks. They do not always stop for a break so be prepared. Take a snack and a bottle water. 3. Ladies you can take a purse and carry-on. I also took a pillow for back support. 4. Dont have a special event scheduled the day you arrive to destination. Mistakes do happen so schedule can be right on time or not. 5. Also dont count on outlets working 100 percent of the time. Sometimes they do sometimes they don't, just be sure to have electronics charged beforehand. 6. Lower deck is warmer than upper deck. 7. Arriving 15 minutes before departure is perfect timing. In total I paid 33 dollars for roundtrip which was the best part. Mega bus please fix the ac problem. Other than that, im okay with being a little bit behind schedule just not arriving frozen! read more

I've rode the Megabus twice from Grand Prairie to Austin. My first round trip from Grand Prairie to Austin was a great experience. It was the latest ride but I think the latest times give you the smoothest Megabus experiences. It wasn't packed and everyone has their own row, the ride went smoothly and was on time. A/C was set at a nice temperature. Wi-Fi was decent. I was able to surf everything except stream Netflix which wasn't a huge deal. I was a happy camper. However my second trip from Dallas to Austin then Austin to Grand Prairie, was the freaking worst. I typically drive to Austin but I opted for the Megabus this weekend trip because I had a test the following Monday and needed to study on the ride. The ride going to Austin was okay except it was annoyingly packed and chilly. The ride going back home to Grand Prairie is why Megabus will always be A LAST RESORT now. WHY IS THE A/C SO FREAKING COLD?! When I feel the need to wear GLOVES and a SCARF in a vehicle when it's 75 degrees outside and all the passengers in the upper deck complain, that tells you this needs to be fixed. I did not dress accordingly and wore a mid sleeve light jacket. I couldn't even study because 1. Wi-Fi wasn't even working 2. My Mac was getting cold from the A/C and 3. My hands were freezing every time I took them out of my jacket pockets. The freezing A/C ruined the experience because having blasted A/C at your head for FOUR HOURS is not fun!! It was seriously the most uncomfortable 4 hours ever. It didn't make it any better that the driver was extremely rude about it. I forced myself to fall asleep because it was driving me crazy. It drove this passenger a little crazier than I did because during our 15 min stop, he actually tried to toggle with the A/C himself and it pissed the driver off and she went upstairs in the upper deck and was threatening to kick passengers off if they touch her dash again. I totally regretted taking the Megabus and wish I just drove. They say the A/C can't be adjusted but I call bullshit. A/C was fine my first Megabus trip (with less people so that's less body heat) and it felt fine when that person toggled with the A/C. Then the driver blasted it again. Megabus, fix your damn air conditioning settings and hire more professional employees. Your drivers and "fixed" air condition setting is ruining the quality of your company. read more

This is a great concept. They are offering very cheap bus rides on none stop routes from Dallas to Austin, San Antonio, Houston, New Orleans, Norman OKC, Oklahoma City. Currently they are offering free to $1.00 trips. This is a special, I found the prices increases to about $5.00 round trip from Dallas to Austin. The buses are cross country tour buses with free WIFI and electrical outlets. There are no mid point stops. I use Megabus occasionally going from Dallas to Austin. And it works, I will continue to use it in necessary times (when I am too tired to drive and my preferred bus service does not have a trip scheduled at the time I need). For the price you pay its great, it's clean for the most part. I had a table seat the past time and it was sticky and gross so I will avoid that in the future. For $11 I wouldn't expect anything too nice, so like I said for the price you pay its great! My major complaint is that the driver began yelling at a passenger over the microphone in front of the entire bus. The passenger was very cooperative and kind. She promptly stopped doing what cause the driver to yell and apologized. The driver CONTINUED to yell. Even after the bus got to the station in Dallas she brought it up again to berate the passenger. It was horrible and so unnecessary. Another incident- I purchased a reserved seat but when I got on a curvier lady who needed two seats was sitting in the reserved seat next to mine. I happily offered to sit somewhere else and let her continue to use my reserved seat for her comfort. The bus was not full and the employee told me that was okay to do. The same employee then scolded her in front of everyone for taking up two seats and told her she could not use that space for her stuff (even though it was not determined no one would be sitting there). It wouldn't take much for a little bit of kindness to be shown. I was very disappointed by the behavior of the staff. Just because this isn't an expensive luxury service doesn't mean you don't need to display normal human decency. read more

Awesome service! My ticket was $25 one way to Austin and $12 back to Dallas. They have covered parking overnight now, which is the main reason this is feasible for me now. Get there 30 mins beforehand to do the parking stuff. Go inside to talk to a representative. They work EXCEPT midnight - 5 AM. You can redeem a seat, but it's not necessary, at least, from my experience. The bus I was on was only about half full, but it's probably because it was the 5:40 AM one. It may stop at another location before heading on the highway to the main city, so you might want to hold off sleeping until it's picked up people from the surrounding cities too. Bring earplugs and a sleep mask, because some of the people on the bus don't know what a normal sleep schedule is. There are no outlets for electronics (at least, on the bus I was on), and the WiFi hasn't worked in my experience, just FYI. read more

The trade off is having to deal with the poor attitudes and substandard customer service of all the employees. I have yet to ride in one of the double decker, blue buses. It seems I always get a chartered bus, which means none of the amenities pitched by Megabus. No Wi-Fi or outlets that I anticipated based on their website. My phone almost died and had to turn it off to save power to call my ride upon arrival. Your fellow passengers are mostly business people and college students commuting. None of the usual freaks you find on other buses. I'll continue using them, but I now know what to really expect rather than what they advertise. read more

Ditto, Reviewer Alexandria......So many great things about this simple mode of transportation........but TAKE A BLANKET, even when it is warm outside: but especially if it turns a little chilly. The air is blown directly into some of the seats, so one time on the way back from Austin (to Dallas/Grand Prairie) I got really sick. There are too many passengers once-in-awhilel, but I'd rather deal with that than freezing cold air blowing in my face. Megabus is falling off and I am not sure if I ever want to ride again. First of all, the fares are not as cheap as they were about a year ago. The only way you are getting dirt cheap fares is to buy 3-4 months in advance. Secondly, the staff are unprofessional. They are many times rude and not helpful. Megabus as a whole needs to tighten up! The buses will be late and the consumers have no way of knowing this in advance much less knowing when the bus will actually arrive. This is due to zero communication from the company. Yea, your fares are cheap but how much will it break you financially to offer your customers this convenience? I'm guessing not much. Thirdly, while Megabus is not as bad as Grethound as far as sketchy ppl-they are certainly getting there. I had the pleasure of riding with some creepers this time. The bus drivers should surely address those rude individuals that think everyone wants to hear their movie or listen to their annoying music. This point alone made my ride a very uncomfortable one. Take heed before you consider riding. If you can afford to fly or drive, I high suggest doing that before investing your $ and your time and energy on this company. read more

My daughter who lives in Dallas successfully used MegaBus for a trip to Houston in August. After the trial trip, she and her friend booked a ticket from Dallas to Memphis for tonight. The bus was to leave at 11pm and arrive in Memphis in the morning. Just in time for a friend to pick them up and take them to Mississippi for the wedding they are to be a part of. At 11:15 tonight my daughter called me to say the bus hadn't left yet, and the driver had announced to all that she had never driven this route, so she was trying to call another driver to come in. I told my daughter to be patient, there had obviously been a mix-up, but I was sure the proper driver would be there in minutes. Fast forward to 11:45. The driver announced that no one was coming in, but she had called another driver, gotten him out of bed, and he would be there by 12:30. Seriously? An hour and a half late, and some guy who's just been startled out of bed is going to drive a bus full of people for over nine hours? What sort of mickey mouse operation are is this? Forget about my daughter's refund and her friend's money as well. Their lives are worth more than that. As I write this, they are in a taxi back to their apartment ($35) and will be driving themselves to and from Memphis tomorrow. ($100 gas conservatively) They are out of plenty of money and also time...I'm not sure they'll make the wedding. No way, no how. read more

I never used a bus service before Megabus. I had some friends that told me about it and how inexpensive they are. I decided to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised. The price, service, wifi and clientele were just perfect. I travel to Dallas a lot on business and Spirit just quit flying that route. I am leaving tomorrow on another trip with Megabus and the price from Houston to Dallas is $4.00 one way. I cannot pay for gas for the Benz at that price. read more

Due to the hurricane on the East coast, some friends had to fly into Dallas in the evening and take the first outgoing Megabus to Austin (5:15 am on the schedule) to be there for an important event. The bus driver for that bus did not show up. And that was not the end of it, considering that the next bus was supposed to leave at 6:30am according to the schedule and did not leave until past 8am. Needless to say they missed the event. Would not recommend this company. read more

This is the third time I've used Megabus and it was be the last. I thought it was the cheapest route instead of adding mileage to my car but this experience has shown me that the cheapest route is not always the best solution. I traveled from Austin to Dallas and neither departure started on time. I understand there are unforeseen circumstances, however, there is no communication from the company to make you aware. This company runs without the consumers being put first and it's disappointing. You cannot get resolution from customer service and if you ask so speak to management, they will disconnect the call and this is their protocol. Megabus is a mega headache! read more

Convenient and cheap but HORRIBLE parking situation. I called ahead and they said there would be no problem parking at the Megabus location, but it was FULL. No one ever said, it might be full or first come first serve. I had to park in the taco bell parking lot. Just ridiculous. read more

A week ago, I booked a $60 one-way Megabus ticket to send my college student back to Austin on a nice, clean, safe 2-story bus with Wifi. Instead, the bus they sent was a nasty, older Coach bus. When I called the Megabus customer service, I was told that I could not speak to a manager and that they reserve the right to substitute another bus without notifying customers or putting it on the reservation page. I paid substantially more than the $1 trip so I expected a bid more than the being turned around at the lot when I arrived for my schedule departure. Not having a place to park and being stranded on my return trio at 1:00 AM. The lack of technology at the stop is embarrassing and so is the unprofessional staff. I though this would be a great alternative to driving but if I have to deal with these low life I would much rather travel int the COMFORT of my car. read more

The worst. I paid to leave at 1110 and have free WiFi. We departed at 1135. But driver said, WiFi name and that it should have been checked before we left, so "it should be ok". After we left, determined there is no WiFi. I specifically used Megabus so that I could get work done on my hour hour trip. I called customer service, they were rude and told me to email in my issue. Not possible on my PC without WiFi. Complete waste. I'm going to try to get a refund. Had I been told WiFi was out, I would have opted for another mode of transportation. We went to Austin from Dallas on a whim. The seats were as comfortable as can be for a bus.

Ok so this was my first ever experience riding Megabus. I've flown to and from Dallas and Houston for years. So to save a little cash and advice from mom I rode down to Houston For Thanksgiving. The Grand Prairie station to my surprise was an actual station, some parking but no bells and whistles. My experience started off well and grabbed a good seat. The bad experience(s) started to happened as we were headed to Dallas as a strong "burnt tire" smell started to engulf the inside of bus. The driver stopped to check on the side of the freeway but continued on to Dallas. When we got to downtown Dallas we stopped along side a main street Waited an additional hour and a half to fix the engine problem finally and on to the Dallas stop. Once we loading those individuals the bus was packed! and finally onward to Houston an hour & half behind schedule and all. Pros: - It was a quite and comfortable ride. - Driver drove at a nice appropriate speed. But here come the Cons: - The WIFI Connection totally sucked! It was difficult trying to connect. - We were really packed in there like sardines. If your a germaphobe don't even bother - The Bathroom look like a straight up port-a-poty. (gross & disgusting). - Even though the seats were comfortable they were very narrow and little to no leg room. - The Cabin throughout the ride was cold and damp. - The drop-off location was straight out of a horror movie. It was dark and vacant park -ing lot in some part of downtown. Luck for me my ride was there already waiting. So would I recommend for someone to ride MEGABUS? HELL NO!!! Funny though as I'm writing this I do have a cousin that rides to Austin and back regularly and she actually likes it, (go figure, a college student on a tight budget). The Cons out weight the pros for me. I'd rather go through the security lines at the airport hop on a quick 45 minute flight to from either Houston or Dallas. If you can afford a plane ticket why the heck would you take a MEGABUS? is how I see it. So consumers you have been warned! Ride at your own risk! read more
