Unique setting. Casual. Food was great and portions were decent. No prices on menu. Remember- no alcohol. Plenty of food for two people when ordering two entrees. We took some to go!

Good but pricey, I paid 20 for the vegetarian combo. The beef stew was 19. Great flavors, restaurant is cute and clean.

Visited last evening around 5:30 pm and it was not like my first experience. Which, I 99% of the time, do not eat Ethiopian food in Colorado, only Washington D.C. My friend wanted me to try this location last year, I was reluctant, but tried it. On this second visit, the server was a bit lack luster and did not understand a majority of our request. The picture of the veggie combo platter on the menu is inaccurate with a picture of spaghetti noodles and pasta sauce. We did ask the server about it, and she indicated, it was incorrect and the veggie combo does not come with pasta. The platter was lacking and mediocre to say it best. Yellow lentils was lukewarm, leaning toward cold; green beans were not cleaned well by removing the string and hard stem where they are attached; samosa we both ordered came cold, and we asked if this was suppose to be warm, and she didn't understand our question. I left mine to take home. The greens were the only item hot, but didn't taste like any mixed greens I had before. Extremely bitter and lacking flavor. To top off our evening, we spotted a roach crawling up the wall, then onto the flat screen television and beyond. My stars are reflective of our server experience, food, and the roach.

I can't remember, explicitly what this is, but it might be the veggie platter. I inhaled this and ordered beef tibs to go! Everything was absolutely delicious, the service was pretty good, and all of the different seating is such a vibe! This is definitely my new go to spot, because the options are endless and you can't go wrong!

Delayed post: Found on Yelp! we made a last minute decision for lunch while in the area that satisfied the tastebuds. What a treasure to have such diverse food choices in your city. Such a cool ambiance and perfectly flavored food. Easily one of the best Ethiopian restaurants I've experienced.

I have always been curious about Ethiopian food and thanks to my two consecutive Ethiopian uber drivers, I finally took the plunge! I came to this place from testimonial recommendations. I got the Mogne Tibs (mildly spicy marinated beef with jalapeños) and it came with a savory crepe-like side to eat it with (I forgot to ask the lady what it was). I informed the waitress that this was my first time trying Ethiopian food and she was so nice about explaining the dishes to me. In the middle of my Mogne Tibs, she came back with awaze and chili powder she recommended me to dip my food in. It was such a great experience! For dessert, I had their napoleon cake with Lavazza coffee.

There are so many good ethiopian restaurants in the area and this stands out to be one of the best ones! I noticed I tend to like certain dishes better at other restaurants and this place has AMAZING awaze tibs! The beef and packed with herbs and spices and each bite is filled with flavor. You can tell it soaked in it's broth and marinade really well. The beef was tender and pairs so well with the different types of lentils and veggie dishes. I had it the next day for leftovers and it tasted even better. The injera was soft and had great taste, which paired well with the main course. The gomen and spinach was perfect, nice blend of spices to give it a mild flavor. Overall one of my favorite Ethiopian restaurants in the Denver/Aurora area. Service was great and the decor was cute! They had 4 or 5 mini huts you can dine in. We sat at the high table since those were already occupied.

The Awaze tibs, gored, gored and the Monge tibs were all excellent. The injera was fluffy, light and perfect. This place came highly recommended as one of the more authentic Ethiopian spots. The food did not disappoint. The service sadly, was poor. It really made our dining experience less than what we hoped for.

Yum!! This restaurant is very cozy, homey, and feels extremely authentic. It's attached to a Ethiopian market next door and it all feels lovely. The food was absolutely delicious. Injera was perfectly fluffy, all the spices were well balanced. I am so happy I found this place. The service was amazing! Very sweet and attentive. This restaurant is lovely and I can't wait to come back and bring more friends! 3 of us came in and got 2 veggie combos to share and it was the perfect amount of food!

Awaze tibs, potatoes and lentil sides

Sitting here incredibly full and happy! I had a major craving for Ethiopian food tonight, and drove all the way out here for it. I was going to finally be brave enough to try Gored Gored, but the waitress talked me out of it. "Seriously, people order it all the time and don't realize it's raw beef and then they don't eat it." (I love carpaccio, but haven't eaten it in decades because Mad Cow.) So...awaze tibs, and potatoes and lentil sides. (I was actually hoping for a lamb stew, but this was perfectly acceptable!) Lovely injera, everything is so tasty, really hit the spot. I'll come back here! I asked if I could purchase more injera for leftover lunch tomorrow and the waitress laughed and said she wasn't going to let me pay for more injera!

Megenagna is a real hidden gem where you can get some great Ethiopian food! Getting in can be a little confusing because you first walk in through the market next door and walk into the restaurant through a doorway at the back of the market. Once your in the restaurant though prepare to eat some delicious and super flavorful food! We ended up getting the veggie combo which is a must. I'm not a vegetarian but it's the best way to get a wide variety of different dishes with potatoes, lentils, spinach and more. All of them are delicious and great with the injera bread. We also got a meat dish the Awaze beef tibs, this dish is a flavor explosion! So tasty, the spices they use are out of this wold! The staff is also very nice and helpful if you have any questions about the food or menu, Megenagna is must try.

When we get there at 5:45, we notice that the food is packed up in a medium (9"x13") sized aluminum pan with lid. In the past we'd gotten our meals in two styrofoam take out boxes with plenty of food so I was initially excited to see the new packaging because I believed the quantity would be the same or more. We get home 5 mins later and were sorely disappointed by our order. There were plenty of lentils but the orange ones were undercooked and lacked flavor. There were only about two bites of the collard greens/Gomen wat. And usually Mama África supplies more potatoes spears with their carrot and cabbage side, this time, we also only got two bites of the cabbage, no potatoes. Not to mention, the green beans were definitely canned and had no additional flavor to them. We asked for a side of chickpea soup/shiro wat and were disappointed to find that it too lacked flavor and was mostly oil. The worst part in addition to all the above was that the food was cold and the injera tasted stale and lacked its usual sourness. To add insult to injury, the meal was nearly 70 dollars in total for something that barely fed one person. This was the first time I ever wanted to ask for a refund for our food because we barely received one portion of the veggie combo, not the two we paid for. I hate to leave a one star review for a small business but the quality and quantity of food went down drastically.

Had I not gotten the shift assignment,…read morethis restaurant would have forever been unknown to me even though the long stretch of Havana Street has so many unique restaurants on both side and yet, past the 6th Ave where the restaurant is located had still been an unknown territory for me. I was definitely overdue for a good Ethiopian food so when I found it, I got excited. I intentionally left the house early enough so I could stop here and get me some food before my shift. And it all worked out well. Yesterday's takeout experience was met with so much goodness. I... -Was warmly greeted upon entering the restaurant by two women. -Was the only customer during the non-rush hour time between lunch and dinner. -Was able to place my order immediately as I had the full attention from one of the ladies upfront. -Waited good 15+ minutes and yet, this meant that the kitchen carefully prepared my food. -Received thorough explanation from the same lady (who took my order) as she opened each container to explain what I got. Service was top-notch here. Once I got to my car, I opened the two containers to take a close took at them. I also wanted to take some photos of my beautiful food. What I got were.... -Vegetarian Combo ($19.99) that comes with red lentil stew, split pea mild stew, powdered chickpea stew, carrots and cabbage with potato, collard greens, beetroot and salad. This whole dish was covered with extra layers of injera fermented bread that are/were gluten free. The whole container was so heavy. This was easily way more than what I paid for. And it was probably the best Ethiopian vegetarian plate with all sorts of delightfulness in this massive dish. -Two pieces of Veggie Sambusas (lentil based); this came with a mini salad. Deep-fried sambusas were nice and beautifully brown. And they were so crispy. The heat from the cooking was still felt when I ate them about 10 minutes later. Let's not forget to mention. The restaurant looks very unassuming on the outside. Although the front of it had a colorful green and red signage with restaurant name on it, once inside, it looks small and yet you will be surprised how spacious inside is. Although it's not fancy or modern in any way, it's clean with simpleness. And here and there, there are Ethiopian art decors on the walls which will (I'm pretty sure) capture your attention. You should take the time to look at them as they are quite beautiful. Not to mention, ample seatings are seen in the dining area; the bar is quite large as well. And they do serve alcohol. This is definitely and by far the best Ethiopian restaurant in the Denver metro area (in my opinion). The welcoming host (is this a woman owned business??) that will truly appreciate your business but most of all, the quality and hearty food that will entertain your palates..all sorts of goodness will mesmerize you for sure. This place will justify the miles you will drive to get to it even if you live a bit far from it. Give it a try!

But don't overlook Lucy near Colfax/Quebec - it's full of fresh and flavorful (and also filling) favorites served in a clean and inviting space. One of my favorite offerings there is the chicken stirfry known as Yedoro Tibs in Amharic and Nay Tibsi Derho in Tigrinya. Redolent with the spice mixture Berbere and sided with soft supple rounds of the teff-based flatbread variously called Injera or Tayta, the dish is served in plentiful portions, ensuring that prospective diners will be suitably satiated. However, I can also attest to the potato stew (Yedinich Wot / Tsebhi Dinish) I sampled on my most recent visit to Lucy. This dish is a bit more mild, utilizing seasonings such as turmeric and ginger for a mellower mouthfeel. Nevertheless, the savory sauce is still a worthy accompaniment to the sizable chunks of potato and carrot which can be found within it. I was very pleased by my meal. But honestly, anything you try at Lucy is sure to be a winner, so stop by and check out one of Colfax's less-heralded Habesha gems.
