This is a review of the bakery- the restaurant is also top-notch. The bakery consistently has the best baguettes I have ever had- crunchy crust, soft but chewy middle, and great taste. I've had baguettes in NYC, San Francisco, Italy, France, and most of the bakeries in Austin. I like Megg's (Hamilton Bakery) the best. Moreover, I've developed a baguette a day habit, and don't think I can quit without going to rehab. read more

I love Megg's cafe. From the ambiance and the service to the food, everything about this place is really great! staff is always helpful in answering any question you might have in regards to your meal. I usually enjoy an order of the crispy soy glaze Brussels sprouts with popped sorghum as a meal, but their sandwiches are really good, too. My family and I have visited Megg's every Sunday for as long as I can remember. The service has consistently been outstanding. Moreover, the atmosphere is causal and open. If the weather is nice, you can sit outside and enjoy your meal. First, the food is outstanding. Normally, I have breakfast. Chicken and waffles are my favorite, but I've branched out and tried scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast. My wife likes the eggs Benedict, and my daughter loves pancakes and bacon. They have something for everyone, so it's hard not to find something you would like. Second, their lunch and dinner menu is hard to beat. Their cheese burgers and chips are delicious. On the dinner menu, I love their fried chicken and Mac and cheese. My wife usually gets the shrimp and grits. She craves them!!! Last, we cannot leave without visiting the bakery. They have cookies, cupcakes, muffins, and a nice selection of bread. My daughter loves the chocolate chip cookies, and I can't resist the peanut butter cookies. Overall, Megg's rates as one of the best restaurant in Temple. I encourage all my friends to go by and give them a try. I have yet to receive a complaint. read more

Wow! This was a great find while visiting family in Temple. It will be top of our list for all future visits, especially good for bringing my vegetarian relations when we're there. This is the ideal sunday breakfast spot for my husband and I. My husband orders the Southern Style Poutine and I order french toast almost every time but it never gets old!! The food is so delicious. During the weekend you'll expect a good 20-30 minute wait but it's well worth it. The food's always so delicious, you'll definitely want to visit again if you ever go. I would have given 5 stars for the food but unexpected early closure on Saturday night and questionable seating protocol can be frustrating. Arrived for dinner at 7:45 on Saturday night and they had already closed prior to the 8:30 posted closure. Sunday morning waits can change from estimated 45 min to 1.5 hours for no apparent reason. I have frequented Megg's for several years. I have even ordered loaves of gluten-free bread from Hamilton Bread in the same building. The staff are friendly and wonderful. The service takes time, however, everything is fresh. The knowledge of that tends to make me a tad more patient. Everything is cooked as ordered, no hot lamps keeping food warm for hours on end. Most of the food is from local people and they usually have a list of the providers on a black board in the restaurant.
