What a great find! The location is gorgeous - it's a winery, so think green and lush. The building itself is a beautiful, ivy covered stone with large windows letting in all the light. Inside you'll find some booths along the perimeter of the room and large, round tables with wonderful upholstered chairs in the center. Can't say enough about the comfort of the chairs- very upscale. Our server was very sweet and efficient- there when we needed her but not hovering. The food is glorious. They are a bit on the expensive side, but the food is so good we did not mind the prices. I had the chicken and waffles - nicely crisp chicken breast with very tasty waffles. My husband and granddaughter-in-law had the steak and eggs - with really good potatoes and onions; both were SO impressed with the flavor and the preparation. (I will be having this next time!). My grandson had 'Hong Kong' French toast, which I believe was made with Japanese milk bread and had berries and a custard. Also came with eggs and bacon. He could not speak highly enough about it. The portions are LARGE. We all took food home. I shared my plate with my great granddaughter (2 yrs) and still took food home! The venue's amazing, the service is decent, the menu looks great, and when the food comes out, it smells great and even looks great. So why doesn't the food taste great? Thick cut smoked candied bacon was paper thin, barely smoky, and slathered with sauce. This felt like some industrial pre-cooked bacon (Costco?), albeit decently-elevated -- or concealed -- with a legitimately tasty preparation. Akaushi is a rich and marbled variety of cow. Why then were the Akaushi meatballs and the Akaushi burger so lean? The latter tasted no different from a Bubba burger from HEB. All deliciously prepared and dressed to impress, but are you really getting what you paid for? Plenty of other examples like a very Bisquick-like waffle concealed by caramel/cream cheese sauce and some overly uniform burrata balls that hint at a mass manufactured origin. All taste good, but call into question what corners are being cut. I'm observant but not terribly critical, so it surprised me a bit to realize that I've never encountered an upscale restaurant where I questioned the providence of their ingredients. I'd definitely dine here again, but I'll definitely have a critical eye to what I'm told I'm eating versus what I'm actually eating. read more

We made reservations on a Sunday and highly recommend not coming in without one ! SERVICE : (3/5) A bit wonky. As others stated, it's a bit of a free for all with serving and hosting. When we first walked in, no one was up front , then someone helped us and he stepped away. Then 2-3 other employees came up to us a bit confused. Our server forgot to bring us small things - like our drinks, etc on multiple occasions. I guess there was an issue with other customers and it was gossiped about by the entire staff during our time there. FOOD (5/5) : what they lacked in service is absolutely made up by their food. There are a couple of REALLY expensive items in the list that we skip. But then there are some items that are more in the manageable range of a budget. We've loved the pizza, deserts and such. The staff are friendly most of the time. Had a weird issue with our reservations and management finally came and took care of us. We have tried the Farmers Commons/Vineyard at Florence three times. The first time 3 (if I remember correctly) years ago was to a luau special event and it was fantastic. The second time was last year to see Dysfunkshun Junkshun. Instead of the band it was a disappointing trio. When the 8 of us decided to have something to eat we were seated by a very nasty woman (who was later fired for her behavior). The service was dreadful and the food cold. Today we tried the Farmers Commons for dinner at 5:15pm. No dinner menu was available, only brunch. Skirt steak with one egg $38. The steak was tough and the egg cold and barely cooked. The bread tasted like it was heated on a greasy grill. Never again and I advise anyone considering eating there go somewhere else as you will be disappointed and shocked at their extremely overpriced food. read more

This review pertains to the restaurant only on a Thur evening: *We were seated quickly (we had reservations for our anniversary). *Food was plated & delivered within 5min of ordering. *Lasagna was average, nothing unusual. *Pesto Rigatoni-penne was luke warm at best, WAY TOO MUCH pesto sauce, very few pine nuts. *Menu has 1 semi green side (brussel sprouts), but there are 3 kinds of mac & cheese. But when you're in the middle of nowhere, the food has to be amazing in order to keep people coming back. As the Picture shows, this has to be the saddest charcuterie board I have ever ordered. No nuts, out of season fruit, the grapes were brown, the berries were sour, the jelly was poor quality and it had no variety. Jsut fruit, meat, and cheese. I could've taken a trip to the HEB aisle and put together a more exciting board. The pizza was underwhelming and felt Jsut like a frozen quality dough. The service was mediocre. The menu in itself sounds great but the dinner service has a lot of work needed to be improved. Decided to hit the Farmers Commons for brunch after a recommendation from a friend. We were so excited looking at the menu that we tried more than one entree but it was well worth the belt bulge. The food was great and so was the staff. I think it was Josh that took care of us. The mimosas were great but we ate too much to drink more than one. We tested this place out for a possible group outing and we will be bringing the crew back in the spring for sure!! Make a reservation and come early to enjoy a glass of wine from the vineyard tasting room. Sit outside and relax while taking in views of the vineyard. We don't normally order Zinfandel but quite enjoyed it here and will definitely get it again. The menu at the restaurant has an inviting variety of farm- sourced options including pizza, fried green tomatoes, and seasonal meat and fish options. We had the crispy skin salmon in a flavorful curry sauce accompanied by crab and shrimp Mac n cheese. The ricotta and honey appetizer was delectable and the specialty cocktails were expertly prepared. The apple moonshine was so delicious. My husband found this amazing gem in Florence as a surprise for Mother's day. It is stunning and I'm so impressed by his wonderful farm-to-table find! This restaurant sits in a 700 acre property that grows their own vegetables, their own lavender and does their own beekeeping for the best lavender-honey that's so good- we had to take some home! As you dine, you can see the chef's garden nearby where they cut what they need for our meal. The restaurant has only been open for 2.5 months. There's a spa, a garden, mini golf area and in-ground massive chess with swinging chairs and a vineyard plus a winery that sits around this 700 acre property. It is massive and very detailed in every nook and cranny- so gorgeous! We felt like we were in Florence Italy mixed with Napa, Ca. I just want their biscuits to be tastier and not too dense. The butter and lavender honey needs these biscuits to soak em up to make them even better together! Also, the crab and shrimp frittata needs more crab meat and a tad bit more salt. Came here for my Birthday/Father's day dinner with my wife. We were surprised to find such an amazing venue and food in the middle of nowhere. Before dinner we sat under the trees and enjoyed a couple glasses of wine. For dinner, we had the ricotta and bread, the fish of the day, and the crab and shrimp Mac and cheese. It was all well flavored and well portioned. I also got the apple pie moonshine to start - it was amazing. Try as I might, I couldn't get them to sell me some to go or give me the recipe. Beautiful space, unfortunately an unsavory experience. Hoping the restaurant is able to read and learn. Service was awkward, took 30 minutes to determine who our server was. Sunday brunch all day was a bit odd. No pizza or biscuits, which the family was looking forward to. All entree came out cold. Burgers were cooked well done, not medium and still served cold. One burger had a no onions requested and it was still loaded with onions... no cornflake fried tomatoes on either burger...Chicken and waffles were underwhelming. Seemed like they burnt the chicken and cut off big pieces only leaving 2 strange end pieces on the plate. The waffles were cold and had a wet crumbly texture. Steak was cooked properly but drowned in peppers, onions, and tomatoes with a curry type seasoning not listed on the menu. Tough for someone who doesn't like tomatoes, and ruined what should have been a beautiful wood fired steak. I had the garden omelet, so disappointed. Maybe $1.00 worth of ingredients and it was cold... We had such high hopes and made the trek to celebrate our anniversary. What started as a group of 9 friends getting together for dinner to see what this restaurant was like, turned out to be a very bad dining experience. Good news: The place is beautiful, and the surroundings are as nice as you can get, especially when you consider it is so far out in the country. From the outset, we were treated with very poor table service. It took a very long time to get water on the table, drinks were delayed, and the ordering process was a series of repeated Q & A by our server. Dinner served to 8, and the 9th had to wait on his Chicken Fried steak until we had all eaten. It came out as we all finished, and not only was it inexcusably late, it contained vegetables not shown by the menu. It was sent back as unwanted, we are ready for the check. A "large party gratuity" of 20% was automatically addd to the bill(s), and the person who never received his dinner asked for that gratuity to be removed. A "manager" came over to explain that it is "STATE LAW" and cannot be removed. His bill contained his drink and his wife's food and drink. It is highly unlikely that we will return, as overall, even with this particularly bad service experience, the food and drinks are overpriced, and the servers are clearly not trained in basic foodservice customer communications skills. The 2 stars is solely for the waitress, Robin, who was SO wonderful. She was amazing, attentive, understanding and was the only bright spot in our night. She really tried to make up for the shortcomings of her co-workers. Otherwise, our experience deserves no stars. I had made a reservation for 19:00 and arrived on time. We were told by the hostess that the table we were supposed to have still had the previous party occupying it and that we can go to the tasting room or walk around the grounds and come back. So we proceeded to go to the tasting room to grab a drink and was ignored by the staff until we asked where to get a drink. She gave us a menu and told us to take a seat and she would be right with us. We sat there for a while and she was nowhere in sight and was not taking anyone's orders in the tasting room. Already annoyed we decided to just go wait in the front until our table was ready. We were ignored by the hostess until after 20 minutes past our reservation, a member of our party asked for the manager. The hostess finally came over and copped an attitude about our annoyance and then the manager came over and all he said was "sorry you had to wait". I've never had to wait 20+ minutes past my reservation time to be seated and nobody seemed to care. Now onto the food. The whipped ricotta was pretty garlicky albeit good. The truffle and mushroom pizza was also good, but nothing special. My dad ordered the burger and my mom and I ordered the salmon and the brussel sprouts. Brussel sprouts were really, really good. But my dad got his burger and the fries were super cold. His burger was also still extremely pink on the inside despite him requesting it to be well done. My dad never EVER complains and for him to send both back and request it be fixed was telling. My mom and I received our salmon and it had no flavor at all. The pea mash was flavorless and was like baby food from a jar. We tried to make the salmon better by getting some lemon wedges, but once we sliced deeper into the salmon it was completely raw. We just sent it back because we had enough. Robin kindly took both the burger and salmon off of our bill. And a woman did come by to express her apologies, but she did not say who she was. The grounds of the facility was very nice and quaint. The inside of the restaurant itself is very nice. It was fairly clean and nicely designed but didn't make up for the bad experience. All in all, this experience reminded me of a brand new restaurant still working out kinks. But unfortunately they are well established and there's no excuse for ignoring customers or making them feel like they don't matter. Everyone in that restaurant could learn a thing or two from Robin about how to provide a good service experience. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

Visited Farmers Commons for brunch and we were impressed from start to finish. We were greeted and seated right away (we made reservations). We interacted with the hostess, 2 waitresses, wine tasting room staff, the bartender, and kitchen staff and all were very friendly and engaging. Ordered a Rancher's Sip which is their take on a Ranch Water made with tequila, lime, orange liqueur, agave syrup, & Topo Chico and found it quite refreshing. We both went with the Farmers Uncommon Burgers - an Akaushi chuck and brisket burger topped with a cornflake fried tomato, cheese fondue, harissa (hot chili pepper) aioli, red onion, and arugula, all on a branded brioche bun. It sounds like there's a lot going on there, and there is, but the flavors all work together making for a great burger. It's served with seasoned tater tots. It's a lot of food. I was able to finish my burger but not my tots. The restaurant is part of The Vineyard at Florence along with a boutique hotel, a tasting room, the winery, and more. After brunch, we made our way to the tasting room and ordered a bottle of wine, which we enjoyed outside on an absolutely beautiful day. After the bottle of Chardonnay was no more, we needed something sweet, so we sat at the restaurant bar and shared a delicious "apple pie a la mode". It was more of an apple skillet as it was not in a crust and it was topped with caramel ice cream. We were fighting for the last bite as we enjoyed a glass of their Rosé. We spent the whole afternoon there, but we didn't visit the winery as there was a private event taking place. All the more reason to come back in the future and maybe make a weekend if it. The setting is beautiful... wedding-venue-beautiful!
