This place here is one of the best hidden gems I have found in Temple. Fresh food cooked to ordered. Always greeted by the great staff which makes you feel like home. The customer base here is very elderly. It felt like I walked into a retirement home. My friend and I both thought the menu had really great options. I got the chicken and waffle and a sausage biscuit with cheese. My friend got 2 eggs with bacon, hash browns, and a waffle. I must note that the water was unfiltered tap water with a strong chemical taste. I was sorely disappointed in the waffle because it was so hard. I could loudly tap on it with my knife, and it was so difficult to cut. It was overly crunchy/crispy, which was unpleasant. The chicken was pretty good though. The sausage biscuit was delicious, but it was smaller than we expected. My meal ended up being around $16, and I was glad that I had a little bit left over to take home. read more

Great breakfast wonderful place to eat great ambiance for sure. all of the waitresses are very up beat and sweet. Went in Charlie Kirk's birthday to enjoy pancakes and honor Charlie. My wife had the short stack (2) pancakes, with deep fried bacon which she really enjoyed. Also had biscuit on the side. I had the Big Blue Breakfast, pancakes (2), sausage (2), eggs (2) over medium, and home fries. Eggs cooked perfectly as they should be, home fries spot on. She explained the menu to us and took our order. They have a rather large menu and everything on the menu is served all day! We started with Fried Mushrooms with ranch and fried pickles with ranch. They were brought to our table fresh and hot. They had a crunchy batter and soft inside. I'd go back just to try the other appetizers! My grandson had a Double Cheeseburger with Bacon and fries. The fries were fresh and delicious. It had two 1/2 lb patties! It was huge. Burger was flavorful and made fresh. I had the Chicken Fried Steak Breakfast with Hash-browns, Biscuits, and two over medium eggs. The steak was overcooked and a little on the crispy side. The steak was hand battered and had a good taste. Like I said it was just overcooked. We all have off days and the Steak was having a off day! I will be back and look forward to trying more items on the menu. Oh, we also split a short stack! The pancakes were soft and warm. The butter melted and the syrup made them a delicious treat! Nice people but the food was not. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak. The meat was purplish pink and tasted funky. He ate some of it until he found a hair and then he was done. The waiter was nice to have it replaced with the grilled chicken. The sides tasted ok, the loaded mashed potatoes were dry as if they were premade in advance. This location is busy for a reason. I have been here many times and will continue to do so as long as I'm capable of walking through the door. The wait staff is well trained and allowed their individuality while providing the perfect level of service. I have loved all the different fares here, but two stand out...their chicken fried steak and eggs and what is possibly the best catfish I have ever had. Their quality never varies (always high) and for a mom and pop diner to make catfish like this is surprising. We arrived on a Sunday morning and the restaurant was busy. The staff were very friendly and the food was really good. I was happy to hear that their whole menu is available all day. We have ate there for the past 6-7 years and I always oder the 16 oz ribeye for bfast. It's always great. This past weekend we went and I ordered the 16 oz ribeye. I'm not sure if the owners changed or what, but my usual ribeye was far from a ribeye. It was an eye of round steak, not anything close to as tender as a ribeye. My husband and I have been here maybe 3-5 times so far and we still talk about it and recommend it to family and friends. the last time we ate dinner here we ordered dinner, went about our dinner, went to ask for the check when the server let us know that our meal was taken care of. We ate here for breakfast. It's a cute little restaurant, right off the highway. We have been here a few times for lunch and the food was good but breakfast was delicious and way too much food. Service was excellent and super fast and friendly. This place is, what it is. A very good mom and pop cafe that serves the basics. Great food at a good price. The service was impeccable. Honest folks trying to serve the community and they are very welcoming and friendly. You are not going to get a former meal here, but what you will get is good, down home, country cooking with a smile. They were very accommodating in modifying our order for gluten and dairy free. If they had shakes and malts, a good description would be a diner without stools.
