I had the buttermilk pancakes with two eggs and sausage, while my friends got various sandwiches. My meal was $14.61 plus tip. The pancakes were thick and fluffy, while the eggs and sausage were pretty standard. I will say that I was bothered to see the little plastic butter packets on top of and touching the pancakes as it does not seem hygienic. Thought we'd try something new and, instead of going to Megg's, we thought we'd give Suzy Q's a try. So glad we did. We kicked off our meal with coffee. I got a Brevee Latte that was delicious. Perfect, creamy foam on top of milky, smooth espresso. My husband got a black coffee that he said was a little weak. Next time, he'll order an Americano. We ordered the cinnamon roll as an appetizer. It was ooey gooey, just like we like it and the cream cheese drizzle on top was . For entrees, my husband ordered the French Toast plate. He said his eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly. I tried his French Toast, and we both agreed it was a good, classic French Toast-- the outside had a nice crispy texture but the inside was fluffy and custard-ey. I ordered the Monte Cristo with fries. I hadn't had a Monte Cristo in ages and this one did not disappoint. Creamy, salty, cheesy goodness on the inside, perfectly deep fried on the outside with homemade raspberry jam on the side. French fries were perfectly done. This place has taste and texture down-- crisp but not too crunchy, soft, fluffy potato on the inside. Got ranch to dip first, of course and they got the good ranch. We were so stuffed we didn't order dessert, but it looks like they have some yummy options that we'll have to try next time. Service was friendly and attentive. Pretty sure the owner checked in and got us a refill a couple times; it's always nice to see the owner out and about serving and greeting customers. This diner has always been one of my favorites. It's definitely one of the best diners in Central Texas! Let's start with the customer service, which is top-notch on many days. You may even find the owner "Elaine" there to greet you. In her absence, you will be greeted by one of her very competent and friendly staff. As Elaine puts it they're like family and believe me they treat you like family. You'll be quickly seated in a cozy dining area, large enough for groups, but quiet enough to hear yourself think. There are many options to choose from for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. I have it had an item from the menu that I didn't thoroughly enjoy... believe me I'm working my way through the menu as quickly as possible! This morning I opted for a café au lait (remember those) and bagels and lox. I had my locks and cream cheese on and everything bagel... and yes, it was everything! The richness of the cream cheese complemented the saltines of the salmon and the tank of the capers perfectly. This had a very weird flavor yesterday. The crust was the only edible part. I only ate a 1/4. I was a bit disappointed since my mom likes this restaurant. Beignets: 4 stars. I had the Pyramid Club sandwich and a side salad with cilantro lime dressing and she had the Southwest Salad with chipotle dressing as recommended by the waitress. The sandwich was the perfect size and I loved the bread. She really liked her salad but wished it was just a little bigger to be more filling. Both of the dressings we got were really flavorful. Last night, a friend and I decided that we wanted to check out a brunch spot. We did yelp reviews and came across Suzy Q's. We checked the menu, and of course, the jalapeño potato soup is what attracted me, but it's not what I ended up ordering. When I walked in, it felt like they were waiting for me and they were happy I arrived. They were incredibly pleasant, polite, friendly and it felt like a reunion almost. Every time a customer walked in, I wanted to greet them and say good morning. I had to stop that though so I didn't scare the customers. (Not sure why people are so caught off guard when a stranger says good morning and is smiling but it happens and I respect their boundaries.) One of the most wonderful things to hear was that as a business owner, during the great resignation, and in an industry where people are struggling to find employees, she has been blessed with amazing employees. The staff is courteous, prompt, and attentive and in my line of work, that starts at the top, which speaks to the culture, the environment, and the way she takes care of people. Okay so after all that, we'll talk about the food. Thanks to the older gentleman in the corner because his order looked so yummy, we selected the French toast plate with a side of hash browns. The eggs were scrambled beautifully, fluffy even. The French toast...I didn't even need syrup they were so yummy! And let's not forget the crispy bacon! I felt like I needed two more pieces! There was so much food that I made sure to let them know my leftovers was not any indication of the taste or flavor. My eyes tend to be bigger than my stomach and I food. Next time, I probably should order a kid plate . The lattes are awesome! I ordered a mocha and my friend, who's a little more daring, ordered the Almond Joy. On first sip she said wow that's tasty! I had a sip of mine and agreed. Some things to know: They have daily specials! Homemade dog treats are available for purchase. Be patient and relax a bit. I don't think we waited long but if we did, it wasn't noticeable. Probably because I was talking but also because it was just nice to be in a space where I felt the customer truly mattered. Summer is phenomenal! The place became busier yet she remained on top of everything and even though they were all juggling multiple roles, Suzy stopped to interact and engage with the customers and that made a positive difference. I almost said "bye,Family" when I was leaving because I felt like I made some new friends. Taking pictures of food isn't my thing but the lattes were so beautifully presented I couldn't help myself. They tasted even better than they looked and if I thought I could handle more caffeine, I would've ordered another. I left a couple of hours ago but I've already told three people about it and hope this review helps attract more customers.
