I was hoping this would be my new go-to breakfast place but unfortunately the search continues. I ordered biscuits and sausage gravy but they forgot to add the sausage. The waitress noticed so she took it back to the kitchen and they sprinkled dry room temp crumbled sausage on top. The grits were cold which was disappointing because I was really looking forward to some grits. The waitress was way too busy. She had so many tables and she had to man the toast station which consisted of a small toaster that one would have at home. The waitress should not be responsible for making the toast...especially when she has to cash people out. read more

My husband and I just moved to Killeen and we have been excited to try local restaurants and this was the biggest disappointment. When we sat down we were greeted by a waiter but he did take a while to come back to take our drink orders(which wasn't a big deal). The big deal was when we waited an hour to get our food. When our food is finally brought out, it's just mine, we waited about another 10-15mins for my husband to get his French toast, which was horrible/undercooked. First time at Papa's since I left in 2023. Amazing! Decor is updated, comfortable, and stylish! The food? Oh my! The best juiciest burger I've had since '23. Chicken fried steaks are huge!! And my friends said they were extremely tender. The breakfast menus is so fun of options that it will be hard to choose when we come back for breakfast. Only drawback is they close at 3pm. What a great find on the morning I was going to play golf and needed a little breakfast. They open early, so was there a little after seven grab something to eat they were quick very attentive. Stopped in for breakfast and was impressed with the quality and atmosphere. The eggs were perfectly cooked, medium well and the chicken fried steak was hand breaded and spot on. The food selection is good. Lots to choose from. The staff was friendly and took care of our drinks and needs. It's a nice size dining room. Has that old time Diner and Cafe feel. I had breakfast with my family. I had the Country Skillet- Chicken Fried Steak, Scrambled Eggs, and Home Fries topped with Gravy and two biscuits. My daughter had The Trash Can Omelet - Combine the Meat Lovers - Bacon, Ham, Sausage and the Veggie - Bell Peppers, Onions, Mushrooms, Black Olives and Tomatoes with Cheese and Jalapeños. Side of Salsa and Sour Cream and Grits My Middle Grandson had The Strawberry Pancakes Combo - served with one Egg, two Sausage Links, and 2 Strawberry Pancakes. My youngest Grandson had the Pancakes Combo - served with one Egg, one Sausage, and 2 Pancakes. All the food was served fresh and hot. We also had coffee that was good. I came to this restaurant because I was in the area and all I got was a plate full of grease. The waitress told me that's how he normally does it then I look up the person who is cooking with no gloves by the way, grabbing hot fries with his bare hand, and then wiping his hands on his shirt I will never eat here again totally disgusting for the sake of an argument. First time at this place and was pretty disappointed. Ordered the veggie omelette and for $10.79 (came with one side) I was surprised that it was prepared with canned mushrooms. I have been here before and the food was fine. I wanted to try it again today but unfortunately I didn't get the chance. Walking in, no one greeted us except the stares of the older customers already dining there. I sat down with my husband to get breakfast but after taking our drinks order the waitress said a different person would be taking our food order. Our drinks arrived but the waitress we were told would be taking our order ignored us. She stood at the counter and walked around checking on other customers. She never checked to see if we needed drink refills - we did - or if we were ready to order - we were. We waited 20 minutes to get our order taken. Two people walked in around 20 minutes after we got our drinks and they were immediately greeted. They got drinks and their order taken while we sat and watched. At that point we got up and left. Did leave money on the table for the small amount of coffee my husband drank. We won't bother going back. The food I've had in the past was not worth the wait we had today. read more

Terrible service. Very unfriendly atmosphere. After being seated our waitress literally ignored us, avoiding our table the whole time. After 20 minutes she seated someone else and immediately took their order. Still, not a single word to us. It felt really awkward so I left money for the coffee that the hostess initially brought (no refills the whole time), and told her we would not be staying to eat. So unless they know you personally, don't bother going. Maybe it is a home-cooked meal, but I never got the chance to find out. read more

Our previous trip here was excellent but things have gone drastically down hill. The staff stood around discussing their dating escapades while our food sat in the window getting cold. We ask for condiment and again the waitress went to jaw jabbing and it was 6 minutes before she returned with the requested condiments. We never received any drink refills the entire visit. This place had some pretty high marks here on Yelp!, so we went there this morning for breakfast. Nope. Place was crowded, which was a good sign to us, except we had to sit at a table that had not yet been bussed; waitstaff walked past us multiple times without so much as acknowledging our presence; and finally a table with two adults and four children had waited long enough to where they did not even wait for breakfast with their children - - they walked out. Alas, so did we. Because I've had enough children in my life to know that if you are at a restaurant on a Saturday morning, having sat there long enough to get your drinks and place your order, and you're intending to leave without having eaten, that's bad. Love love love places like this with the old school diner vibe - and a shit ton of options! I ordered the veggie skillet served on hash browns. It was good, but once I saw my friend's breakfast potatoes with peppers and onions...I'll be swapping out that for the base next time. My friend ordered the sausage gravy and biscuits - and she's still raving about it (it smelled delicious). The service was fast and thoughtful - would definitely recommend for any meal of the day - their menu is huge!
