I like this store so far after I bought my groceries here quite a lot in the past few months. There are a lot of things to like about this store. There is a wide and spacious parking lot, and I have never had any difficulty in it. The store is clean and spacious. I like the layout because that way everything is easy and accessible. What I like the most, and the main reason why I go here for my groceries, is definitely because of the products they have here. They have a good and fresh selection of produce and breads. They also have a variety of fresh and good-quality meats and seafood. A wonderful selection of apparel is available inside too. There are really so many things to like in this store. All of their products are also of good quality, and they offer good brands of products as well. Their apparel selection has good quality, nice clothes and other stuff that is really interesting and affordable too. The majority of their selection is generally well-stocked. However, there are also certain products that are almost out of stock due to high demand. I always go in here early in the day, but they are also open very late. Customer service here is great too. Prices are fair and reasonable.

    Chocodiles. They do exist.

Meijer has a huge list of medications that they give out for free with prescription. They have saved me hundreds on veterinary prescriptions, as opposed to paying for them from the veterinarian's office. The pharmacy is great. The Wi-Fi is fast and cell reception is horrible if you're not logged into the network. There every day prices are better than Jewel's sale prices on pretty much everything. Their liquor prices rival the best places around, even Sam's Club. Excellent liquor selection. Huge wine selection. Great prices on all alcohol.

One of the better Meijers I have visited. Well stocked with polite employees. Prices are a little higher than Walmart.

Having a grocer close by was a selling point. After visiting several times however, I can't say I was even remotely surprised to come here to Yelp and find that my neighbors have a scornful view of how the place is run which matches my own. I am not really a rant type of guy, but this place really needs some work to be on an even keel with other Jewel locations I have visited. The produce is not very fresh, some of the bread I have purchased has been moldy within 48 hours, and most of the employees I have interacted with have been either aloof or else acting like I am putting them out to ask for something. Chances are high I will still be returning to this place at some point based upon the fact that it is so close. There are just times I don't feel like venturing out far, especially when it's as cold as it has been this Winter. However, I will certainly not be doing the bulk of my shopping here until I see some clear evidence of improvement.

The cake was about half of what is the norm. Not buying that again. See my attached photo. It looks like it is in a fish bowl. Time to step away from my many years of being a loyal customer.

Still, the prices are on the average way higher for some standard items that I can get elsewhere, which makes it hard for me to shop here in general. Last time I was in, we got a couple of poke bowls and some mac and cheese and chicken fingers from the freshly made food section. The quality was high, and the prices for the convenience were right on. Mariano's remains for me the place to get the one or two hard-to-find items and that's it.

The deli clerks have always been friendly and personable until I had to deal with EILEEN yesterday. Never have I felt like I was a burden instead of normal paying customer. I'm not one to complain but she just left a bad taste in my mouth. Just completely rude and abrasive from the start. I asked her to slice my ham thin and when she showed me the slice, I asked if she could make it a little thinner and she gave me the dirtiest look, as if I was inconveniencing her. Her attitude was even worse after that. I didn't even bother ordering the rest of what I needed after she finished the ham. Now I'm reconsidering even coming back to this store at all. I shouldn't have to worry about whether or not she's going to be working when I want to come in for cold cuts. She needs some serious ethics training or therapy to deal with whatever she has going on, to not take it out on customers. I'd avoid her at all costs.

Treats Paying Customers Like Criminals - Algonquin IL store 699…read moreI am single, visit once a week , but it can vary. I have been shopping here for as many years as this store has been open. WTF with the rent-a-cop following me around every time I visit for the last few months? Yes, I wear a heavy coat in winter. WTH am I thinking wearing a heavy coat when it's 30 degrees outside? Yes, sometimes I look at things on the produce shelf for an extended time; 1- things aren't always in the same place, 2- I like to review the options like any normal shopper, 3- sometimes I read a label and put the item back, 4- check my eggs for cracks... How the hell is that suspicious behavior? I shop at many grocery stores, but this is the only one where I am basically treated like a criminal. Whole Foods doesn't treat me this way, The Fresh Market doesn't treat me this way, Walmart doesn't treat me this way, or any other grocery store for that matter. I am sorry that you have a theft problem, but I am not it. Driving away good customers isn't going to help your bottom line. Get your act together. It's insulting and I deserve an apology. I would use Instacart to avoid your unwelcoming store , but you are too cheap to participate. When shopping here , Expect to be Treated as a Potential Thief.
