I hope the hospitals have recovered from the rash of minor heart attacks caused by same. I had no idea the hair would get such a drastic reaction. There, got that off my chest. Now for my review... Sometimes you just gotta find a place with a restroom when you're travelling and it's a bit awkward to go in a restaurant if you're not planning to eat there. So I started using the restrooms in Meijers and other similar stores where I THOUGHT I would be inconspicuous. Of course I couldn't resist looking around some after, as long as I was in here. It gave me a little break from driving and a chance to look for a couple of items I needed. I found some Scotch Guard type spray for my boots, a cosmetic item, and a 12- pack of Diet Vernor's for the road. Then off I went to explore Michigan! read more

Beware that if you shop here, the store will always be attempting to pull a fast one on you. Products in the wrong place, marked wrong or with fine print that says the sale is only for a certain amount. I'm not old but I think they are trying to pray on the elderly whose faculties may not work as well, so they won't catch the scam. I went here last month and there was a product that was 2 for $8.99 but not 4 for $17.98, according to the first customer service associate. The one next to them said that I would need to buy 6 to get the sale again and they seemed to have a disagreement on that statement. I just returned it, don't have time to figure out which associate is correct. Just today they have a cereal brand for $1.99, marked in the aisle but I paid $3.99. My friend had a semi-emergency and their checkout froze for a good 5 minutes, so I couldn't stop or go back yet. I checked the website, none of the cereal brand is listed for $1.99 Why is it marked differently in the aisle? Went a couple of months ago, got a product only to find out the "buy 1 get 1 free" was good once, not buy 2 get 2 free. Sure, whatever. It's not marked anywhere on the aisle or the website, but because it's marked in their sales flyer that way, I had to just return it without getting the deal. It is a sheisty store and I am sure it's no different than any other meijer. I won't be shopping here again. read more

I'm a big meijer defender. Although not a native of Michigan I think that we can feel proud that we gave the world meijer as an alternative to wal-Mart. As a general rule I think that you can always count on meijer as a high end super store. Not saying that there aren't better places (there of course are( but in terms of quality and selection meijer is still the way to go read more

Holy tamale there is customer service! I took only 17 bottles back and there was a lineup for the bottle and can return. Everyone in line had at least three bags full some lady had a card that looks like cases of bottles and cans to return . A gentleman by the name Andrew came out and asked me how many I had I told him and he wrote me a manual slip so I didn't have to wait in that extremely long line. IS THERE ANYBODY ELSE OUT THERE WHO HATES OR IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED WITH MEIJER'S SHODDY 'SELF-CHECKOUT' SYSTEM ? (especially the Ft. Gratiot MI location) I've been having trouble with both the lousy 'old' and the recent 'new and improved (?)' self-checkout systems for about 4 years now. The old - constantly red and green lights stopping and then clearing the way to continue, the lights sometimes flash red then green so often they should use them for blinking Christmas lights. Lots of 'wait for attendant' notices (key word here is WAIT), machine stopping your order with a red light somehow thinking it's a separate order (not exactly Artificial Intelligence), see the line you're in get the dreaded red light and jump to another? That lane often will get the red light too. Other glitches also. On to the 'new and improved' system. The machines will often spit back or reject perfectly new and fine bills from the on-site ATM or my bank. Over and over. Often the few and sometimes overwhelmed human attendants can't get to you, will walk right by you and say "I'll be back to help you in a minute" and then disappear to the back of the store to put items back. Other attendants will come over and 'push the wrong button' to solve your problem and cause more delays. I'm missed a dozen or so buses at least by just a minute or half a minute over the last 4 years. I end up spending 1-1/2 hours for 30 minutes of shopping and 10-20 minutes of of checking out. "Try allowing for more time" you say? I allowed an extra 10 minutes last night and STILL missed another bus. Again. I complain half the time, but get lame apologies, lip-service about speaking to the employees and improving things, etc. but the same problems keep happening, even with their shiny new and improved system. THEY DON'T OR CAN'T FIX THINGS. Or maybe don't really care. I know a couple of people who also don't like the Meier's checkout experience. Even some of their employees don't like it! I've cut back my Ft. Gratiot Meijer's shopping by 2/3's. Maybe I need to skip them even more. Feel free to post your own horror stories. read more

I experienced Meijer pick up for the first time today, it was, an experience.. Though convenient for others, I'm sure, it wasn't much of a convenient alternative for me. I had thought things were put in my basket, but I suppose I didn't hit the button enough(I had to hit the button 3-4 times because it wouldn't register, then I got duplicates and had to edit my order over and over). And I checked my order after my husband brought everything home and I got Green onions instead of cilantro... Soo, homemade pico de Gallo is kinda out of the question now. Look, I get every system has its flaws, and you're probably still working things out. Maybe it was human error, but I probably won't be using Meijer pick up again. read more

By far the worst meijer in the area, still better than Kroger by miles though. Marysville's meijer is far superior.

All chains seem to be the same, but coming from Canada Meijer is incredible comparing to what is in Canada. Meijer product selection is amazing, many unique products. It is always busy but never to crowded where you can't get a around (like Canada) checkout is quick and efficient as well. Yoplait Whipped Yogurt, Cereals. and Snack Food are our favorite! This place is the to-go-to store. They have all of the groceries and we always stop at this Meijer on the way "up north" because they always stock their fresh produce, even at night. The meat selection is very big and they added a sushi counter a while back. Butcher is very knowledgeable and people who handle the fish always ensure that you get the freshest cuts or the freshest lobster. Be sure to check for deals because citrus and legumes tend to be on sale all the time read more

Too bad you cant give 0 stars. Every time I have to interact with an employee they are either rude or not knowledgeable about anything in store. Such as the time I did a curbside order and waited 30 minutes without anyone coming out with my order. When I went inside to correct it as other customers were also outside waiting the employee and manager were extremely rude and they took my order to the back after charging me as though I wasn't getting the order I had already paid for. read more

This meijer is pathetic. The meat, produce and just about every grocery area is constantly picked over. It's like they have a mentally deficient squirrel doing their ordering and stocking. It's the closest major grocer near my house but I'll be forced to go to the other location two towns further. I'd rather light a fire using my beard than deal with this sorry excuse for a store one more time. Curbside service is the best thing since sliced bread! As a senior citizen, it's very difficult to walk/shop in such a large store. Most of the time there are no motorized carts available, so I'm not able to purchase everything I need/want; I only select the most necessary items and then leave. Curbside allows me to remain independent by giving me the opportunity to shop for anything and everything. And the personnel at curbside are polite and friendly.
