This store is very clean and has an abundance of great produce! You also can get items from the deli that are fresh and are great for grabbing a quick bite. Some people may not know they also have an automotive section. They have a nice seasonal area for your seasonal needs. The reason for the four stars is they charge a $4.95 fee to do a order pick up. Their competitors do this at no cost. Hopefully this will be something that will change soon. read more

I have shopped at this store, for the last time today. I saw several clothes items that I liked, and were on sale, but they didn't have my size ( Large In shirts, and 34-30 in pants). Everything was too big or too small. I used to really like this store, but they have gone down hill in the last year or so. Kroger has much better sales and Meijer never seems to have the most popular sizes in clothing. They also had 0 full service lanes open, and when I tried to pay, the self checkout terminal kept buffering when I tapped my card. The lady, who worked there tried to reset it 3 times, and I had to end up going to a different terminal. I'm done with them!! read more

I needed a bite to eat before a meeting at the library. There aren't a lot of restaurants opened on Sunday on this side of town so I decided to grab a quick lunch at Meier. They have a deli that serves hot chicken meals and nearby dining area. The clerk was indifferent, but efficient, that assembled my chicken meal. My meal came with a drink and I didn't see a nearby machine. The clerk told me the machine was across the store by the restroom. Dang, so much for quick. The drink machine was filthy. And a mess. I could even figure how to operate the damn thing. I managed to get a cup of water, but the cup lid did not fit. Grrrr. The chicken was decent. Hot with a crispy seasoned breading. There was a lot of chicken for the price. I had the home fries because they didn't have any healthy sides. The fries were good, too. I'm giving them 2 stars because of the filthy soda machine that was on the other side of the store. I won't be back. read more

I'm not impressed with the customer service at this particular Meijer location. It has always been this way, so I try to avoid the Pike Plaza Road location as much as possible. This is probably only my second visit in four months. Today, after ringing up most of the items I had purchased. There was an item that would not scan. Therefore, I decided to ask, what appeared to have been a manager and two other employees, standing around and chit-chatting, for help with my item and they all ignored me. I said excuse me at least 5 times before the lady of color, told me that someone would be with me and to be patient, like I was a bother to her. They saw me standing there waiting before approaching them and then saying "Excuse me" a few times before the lady of color addressed me. The caucasian lady asked the manager where she wanted her to be and then left. What appeared to be the manager, still did not address me. It wasn't until after the same caucasian lady returned and communicated with her further, that she told me she would be right over to help me. For a second there; I thought I was in that old 60s show "The Twilight Zone". I waited a bit before she made her way over. Then the same caucasian employee decided that she was going to take the plastic bags and pineapple leaf out of my cart and started to take my shopping cart away. After telling her that it was my cart, she still asked me if I needed it, seeing that I had a big bottle of laundry detergent and approximately 10-plus bags packed with items I had just purchased. I looked at her confused by her question, then realized there wasn't much going on up there, so I told her that I needed the cart, with the manager standing right there and began packing the items in the shopping cart. The manager didn't redirect her, or explain that that wasn't the shopping cart she wanted her to put away. This is a situation where the hirees/employees reflect the poor values and customer service of the hiring manager/recruiters. I won't be spending my money here ever again. read more

It's a good solid supermarket for ordinary food items . Oh yes and one more thing . Unlike another large chain supermarket I have never purchased any dairy product here that wasn't fresh . Well today, things were stocked but prices were not yet reflective of the weekly ad. I searched for a price check device in which I found 1 that was inoperable. I walked further down where I encountered staff member "Chris", who completed turned my experience around. Chris not only stopped what he was doing to listen, but assisted me in scanning my items for comparison, walking to the aisle to double check, walking away to grab an ad, to accurately get me on my way. When some items didn't coincide, he joined me at the check out lane, scanned, corrected and bagged my items. That alone is worth all the stars, all the rave! Deli is getting pretty bad; Can't get them to cut roast beef correctly. Roast beef should be sliced thin: Not falling apart in shreds or so think its gross. Either deli attendants are not trained or don't care. Blades of deli equipment should be cleaned and checked if need sharpened. In the past my family and I have done several curb side pick up orders from this Walmart (before and during covid) and we were always thrilled with how polite and friendly their curb side staff was. I hadn't actually gone into the store until today and was actually surprised just how clean, well stocked, and staffed the store was. I think Walmart gets a certain reputation for being seedier than other supermarkets but that certainly isn't the case here. The best part about my visit today was they had all but one entrance closed that was manned by an employee and a sheriff who were not only passing out masks but ensuring each customer was wearing them correctly. Policies like that are awesome to see during the hard times we are experiencing and definitely the best way to keep everyone safe. read more

Great new layout since the remodeled but the CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE! Either they ignore you or just don't want to be bothered! I had 2 different encounters with employees in their Garden Department when purchasing "OPEN BAG MULCH. First of all, most garden departments selling open bagged mulch, offer clear bags to put the mulch in, they had no bags available to put the open mulch in!! Not sure how they expect customers to transport it from the store home. Anyway, on my first visit I purchased clear tie trash bags from the store to put the mulch in. It was hot and humid and difficult to maneuver and separate the 3 different colors of mulch, but I did so for 11 bags, all I could bag (and still be able to roll the carts upfront to the cashier). As I was struggling with the cart , right in front of an employee , a bag fell off. Well, too bad for me because I dropped so I had to pick it up because she was not going to put the phone down and help!! Finally make it to the front with my 2 carts, pay and struggle to put them in my vehicle. As I was loading one cart a young man brought the other cart and loaded it for me. Oh, forgot to say the open bags, identified by a sticker, were ONLY $1.00 EACH! On my second visit I bought the bags I had left and packing tape. Another hot day, 2 more flatbeds, taping and bagging and helping another customer tape hers. I get my 2 carts to register and cashier charged the customer I helped tape bags closed FULL PRICE! So, that means he has to call a manager for an over-ring. The manager is clearing up the error, he ring my 7 bags individually for a total of over $20!!! The bags are OBVIOUSLY inside a bag AND clearance stickers are showing. I tell him they are 75% he states only "open bags" are 75% off I tell him they are re-rings the and then calls manager ALLEGEDLY because no one came, 10 minutes later I go inside to cool off, go back after 5 minutes nothing, he's just standing there sweating, I go inside to customer service and ask for assistance, manager comes right away! I push one cart to my car, customer asks if she could help. Disgusted by the cashier's attitude went to customer service and paged manager to complain ON MY BEHALF! It seems like every time I come here, no matter the time of day they have one regular checkout open. Other than that you have the self scan. I usually don't mind the self scan but these you bag at the very end and you have the next person starting to send stuff down before you can bag. I have no idea why they have 13 regular checkout lanes and can only have one open. Workers walk by and see the line snaking down the isle. read more

It took almost 2 hours this evening and an encounter with the rudest and most incompetent young lady in customer service, (who btw initially insisted that she was "in charge" and would not give me the advertised price adjustment), and two of her superiors, only one of which was deserving of his position, I was given proper credit for the overpayment caused by the flawed system and incorrigible staff. read more

Ran in here real quick on a mission to find printer ink. Happy to say we found it. Apparently, very few stores carry 280 xl ink for a canon printer. We had tried atleast three or four other stores looking for it. While here we also found some really great deals! They had several Lego items on sale (we love Legos), grapes were on sale, the dog treats we buy were buy one get one half off, and (we didnt realize until we were at the register) the ink was buy one get one 40% off. Meijer never fails to impress in their discounts. And on top of the ink being on sale, buying 25$+ worth of ink got us an additional 3$ off coupon for our next purchase. We may not be back to THIS Meijer soon (as we gave one closer to home), but for sure will be back to Meijer. read more

They recently remodeled this store and it looks a lot better. They separated the aisle so it is easier to navigate, grouped like items together, and have a larger variety of fresh items. I always go to this store when I need to do my bulk shopping. It is a much better value than the downtown grocery stores. Things to know: 1. Weekend shopping during the day is crazy. Great prices, good quality. Grocery store I use 95% or the time with plenty of choices in the area. Staff is generally sub-par at best. You can watch people's hair grow while standing in line for the deli. Checking out yourself is generally much faster than having someone do it for you. However, I have seen the supervisors shut down the self checkout when there are three checkers open and about 20 different people waiting to check out. I used to love coming to Meijer around midnight in my pre-parent days. Why? Because it was so fun to see all of the random stuff that they had at awesome prices, peruse the CD collection, and choose from the best bulk candy selection in town. I never required customer service because nothing was ever amiss. Alas, so not the case anymore. On August 27, 2011, my experience forever changed how I view Meijer. I went to take advantage of sale and clearance prices for some items for my daughter's future big girl room. After some great help by the one of the assistant managers in getting the area rug for which I was searching all over for, he even discounted it further for me due to some dirt and small stains. Awesome, right? Then after making my way to bedding, the worker there helped me find the sale items. We made sure that all items I got were marked correctly since everything had been strewn about due to the awesome sales. Double awesome, right. Then we get to check out. Dun dun DUN!!! Wow, just wow. The visceral hate was palpable. I get it, you hate your job and all these fat cats are trying to get over on the store by claiming this was on sale, but we both know it is not. Yet you have to smile through it all... Trust, we've all been there. But you don't smile, don't make eye contact, are mumbling under your breath what seems to be cursing and you have the worst attitude ever. I know where she gets it from. Her rude as heck cashier manager. Both of them basically refused to give me the sale price on a set that rang up $20 more than it would have been at regular price. They then wouldn't give me the additional markdowns that the assistant store manager had given me. They also refused to call him over, telling me he was "gone for the day." Well look who comes walking up the aisle. I grabbed him, told him of my horrific experience at check-out. He apologized professionally and gave me the prices that they both refused to give. My problem was not the price confusion, it was the blatant attempt to blame me and basically accuse me of stealing or ripping off the store. The cashier and her manager were so convinced that I was some type of criminal. They do not belong it customer service. They need to be doing hard labor where they aren't responsible for anyone or anything. I have not set foot in this Meijer since. It has been almost two and a half years and this experience still ranks as the worst ever. read more

Before we were married, the husband lived in a little bachelor pad near this part of town. When I needed to pick up a couple home essentials in that part of town, the LAST place I'd go is the Wal-Mart down Lafayette Road. Eek! I've always preferred Meijer. Higher quality products for basically the same price as competitors. When I found this location tucked away, I was filled with glee! No more long lines, crazy customers, or crap parking.
