I love shopping at the Meijer store on Gull Road. When you compare it to other Meijer stores, the staff is friendlier, the store cleaner, and the produce fresher than any others - especially the Westnedge Meijer. I want to give a shout-out to two people in particular. One works in the Women's fashion and her name is Cheryl. She was extremely helpful and polite when I was in looking for clothes for my Niece's birthday. It did not appear to be her department - she was working on socks - but she was helpful and kind. She even showed me a few things that she thought a little 5 year old girl would like. She waited until I was satisfied nad did not immediately leave - something I have experience at other Meijer stores and especially at places like Walmart. The second person I wanted to shout-out to was named Tim and he was my check-out person. He was very fast and very friendly even though I was going crazy trying to get everything on the conveyer belt. He was polite and chatted nicely while I put my stuff on the belt. This is by far the best Meijer experience in the Kalamazoo Portage area. read more

Oh man-not impressed with the people here. I went in to get a party platter which they clearly advertise online and at the deli. Was told by the girl behind the counter they didn't offer those (with a sign advertising them sitting in her own counter). She could not have looked more confused. She seemed completely overwhelmed. There were like 5-6 people waiting and only 1 employee. I'd go somewhere else. read more

This Meijer is a pit. It's immensely better than Westnedge, but that's not saying a lot. What stood out was the lack of actual registers being open... not even self checkout was open enough for the demand. This is the one singular line meijer had open on a Friday afternoon. And I took this picture 30 minutes after moving to self-checkout. When I asked, employees said that the "kids" that should be working the weekends are constantly calling in. Not sure how that became the customer's problem, especially when you stopped being 24/7. Maybe start paying your employees a decent wage, and this wouldn't happen. read more

The bottle return room at the Gull Road Meijer in Kalamazoo is the most disgusting bottle room I have ever seen. I feel like I was probably just infected with hepatitis every time I have to go in there. Shop somewhere else who cares about their customers. read more

I am vegan so I am very conscious of what I eat. I had my son cut a watermelon for me and I thought it looked rather strange. I about threw up when I saw all the bugs/ flies? covering the entire melon. I had taken two bites before I realized the investment. I have been nauseous ever since and unable to eat anything! They care not, but it should surely be investigated, but in this era.......eat the bugs or die from starvation! read more

Every time I shop here there always seems to be expired products on the shelves and it doesn't matter if its can goods, dairy, frozen food, bread, bakery, or fresh meat no one is taking the expired food off of the shelves. I went to buy a gallon of milk today and there was a gallon still sitting on the she!f that was dated March 30 2025. Really is it that hard to get the expired food off of the shelves or are they waiting to get sued a couple of times for making people sick before anyone does their jobs! read more

Do not ever go to this Pharmacy!!!! They lied and cannot trust anyone here for an emergency medication to be filled. Placed at order at 2:45 pm and told was ready and at 7 said it wasnt ready!!!! And then i called and said it is now ready after 4 hrs of emergency medication that needed!. The people that worked here including all Pharmacist license should've provoke. People that worked at healthcare industry must have compassion to their clients, and you wont find that in this location. They will also hang up on you on the phone if you're trying to explain something. read more

They could have communicated and not been all out for the almighty dollar. They said the softlines manager called me but I called and asked for the dog lines manager to ask if he called me and he said no. I worked at Meijer and they don't care about the customer because I received a high rating from their customer's but they just want everyone to be FAST as a cashier to get as many dollars. They have half paper bags and don't want cashiers to use them and they don't want cashiers to double bag. Their clothing is to expensive and they over work their employees and don't care about them or pay well. Walmart and Aldi pay more. read more

This big box store is probably the best place to shop in the region since it has such a great variety of items, both food and non-food. This store was recently upgraded with wider aisles and new carts, among other features. Especially always welcome is the pleasant lighting that one will notice in contrast to at least one other large store in the area. With inflation, pricing is always a consideration, but with Meijer a shopper will be able to check out their weekly ad for featured sales and promotions. Signing up with the mPerks program on their website is also a must for sales that change every Sunday that includes a long list of available coupons and rewards. The pharmacy here is convenient for any prescriptions and vaccines and offers a two-lane drive-up if other shopping is not on your agenda. read more

There are definitely nicer Meijer's out there, but this location is pretty much what you expect. Tons of items to choose from for pretty much whatever you need. It's laid out pretty openly, which is nicer than some other box stores that pack everything in. Overall a nice place to shop. read more

I don't like going here at all. Everytime I go here I feel like I'm being watched, especially at the self checkouts. Proof of this was when the cashier actually came up behind me and my daughter and checked to make sure we scanned an item. And then to add insult to injury when I came back to return said item later that day the lady behind the service desk was rude, and making comments under her breath and I had to call corporate to get things right. And working customer service I don't like to do it. read more

I seriously love it here and I feel lost when I go to any other Meijer location. Gull Road Meijer is always well-stocked and well-merchandised. I have been shopping here for 6 years and I recognize many of the employees that have been here long as well. The greeters are the sweetest people - take the time to chit chat with them once in awhile. We may not know each other by name but they recognize me as routine repeat customer that makes me feel welcome. I love the mPerks program, and the company keeps making improvements to it. I love shopping the general merchandise clearance or to see what's on sale. This store does a great job with end caps and seasonal displays to catch my attention and it's pretty much guaranteed that I will leave here with more than what's on my list. :) read more

I will drive 20 minutes to the Meijer in plainwell before shopping at the Meijer on Gull. They're always low or out of inventory, and a good portion of my grocery list is not available. Their produce is terrible as well. Lanes are long and under staffed. No thanks! I'll drive farther to get what I need. read more

Meijer was having a special buy 1 item get 2 free in the clothing. I bought some at the Westmain location and then stopped at the Gull Road location To purchase more items. The lady was taking down all the signs at 5:00 pm. I asked her about it and she said her manager told her to take them down. No idea which items were in sale even though the sale didn't end until midnight. She said they would still ring up correct but I had no idea which items where included in the sale. I asked to talk to the manager and he said I'm sorry I guess it's a bit early. How did that help me find what was on sale? He didn't care and didn't stop her from removing additional signs. I was very upset and I left without purchasing anything. There were 4 other people also complaining about not knowing what was on sale to make their purchase. Worst customer Service and they lost several sales because of it. read more

WTFudge! I am what you may call a "Meijerite". I have FAITHFULLY shown my patronage to the Meijer family & it's constituents for well over 20yrs! Meijer has been instrumental in providing the goods and wares that fit my families specific dietary and other needs, so, it pains me Greatly to give this seemingly unfair review... Until you hear why.. Tonight I went into my favourite Meijer on Gull rd (which happens to be conveniently right across the street from our home) to purchase a few items for a quite (child free) evening at home (w) my Love. I take the items to a self check-out lane, but was unable to complete the transaction due to a "system glitch", as it was explained to me. The person that helped me thought it best to try a regular lane, so off we go (20 mins. 'til close). The full service lane clerk (term used ever so loosely) attempts to assist; the beginning of the End.. The "glitch" continued. My card is not being excepted. I ask to speak with a Manager in the hopes that he/she could trouble shoot for me, because at this point it's late, I'm tired, frustrated , & feeling like an ...(no one wants to be that guy). She(one Ms. Dawn S.) says Most Profoundly, that there is "NO MANAGER, NO ASSISTANT, NO BODY", and that "the Only thing she can do for me now is NOT sell me the items"! By now there is a line, & right behind me is a Sweet woman who ask the total of my goods. I tell her it's just under $50. She kindly states that she will pay for the order, and approaches the credit card unit. As she attempts to use her card this... CashieR begins to detail my situation in a public service announcement for the entire store, as if she had been asked, or it was required! Oh, but it doesn't end there. After this Angel of Mercy swipes her card it took a moment for it to process. So what does the Legion do? She insults both her & me by announcing that her card hasn't gone through either(keep in mind it's been all of 3 secs.), and yet AGAIN states MY situation. In the interim of her Town Crier performance the Angels card is accepted and the receipt prints. But wait.. There's More! She (Nation Mother to the Uncouth & Tactless) takes the receipt and proceeds to Throw-It-Away! The Angel instructs her to give it to me. Can you imagine what IT said? IT said, "oh, she'll be fine. She won't need it", and began scanning the Sweethearts items. At this juncture we're both like What in He//?! The Angel repeats herself and adds, "just in case". I second the motion as we share a look of TOTAL DISBELIEF- As I walk away I can hear her once Again making her unwarranted public service announcement in regard to my situation, and it is for these very detailed reasons that I felt it necessary to submit this Tragic review. It is not so much Meijer, as I have made it a point to praise it despite this review, however this clerk and all those like IT (I'd like to believe), are misrepresentations of, and are doing a Great disservice as the Face of Meijer, and how Sadly & Miserably Unfortunate for Meijer and us... read more

I gained a greater appreciation for Meijer while living out of the Midwest for a few years. The value of being able to shop for nearly everything (and the variety is crazy) in one place is often underestimated. I grew up going to this particular location and return nearly every time I visit my family. Whether we need swimwear, books, snacks, or electronics, we can find it here. The store is clean and the service is generally solid. One downside is that the prices have increased over time so that you are now paying a premium for convenience over places like Kroger or WalMart. Also the meat quality (especially chicken) isn't as good as it used to be. read more

Meijer has gone down hill to the point it's hardly worth shopping there. Every aisle is partly empty not just the grocery area but in other departments as well, we are not talking just about limited items that have shortages nationally, it's everywhere. Their competition does not seem to have this wide spread issue. Many of our friends, that shop in other Meijer stores, are saying the same thing. Wine at discontinued stand priced $21.95 same exact wine in wine dept. on sale fore $15.95 and retailers want us to trust them to pricing rules? Tried to buy flea preventer for dog, clerk just placed the one I wanted on shelf in theft proof container. Went to check out and cashier couldn't open it took it to next cashier who couldn't either and said she had trouble with the same one day before, maint. assoc. couldn't get it open either. I'll bet they put it right back on the shelf with out fixing the container again. Can't wait for Walmart superstore to open in Portage. read more

For some reason the "Gull Road Meijer" is our favorite. It's cleaner, neater and better stocked. The staff is friendlier and the produce section always has a wide selection of locally sourced fruits and vegetables at reasonable prices. We recently moved across town and are now closer to the "Westnedge Meijer", but we still drive to Gull Road because it's simply a better supermarket. read more

I LOVE Meijer. Living in Kansas City, MO, there is nothing that even comes close to being a Meijer. On this trip, we were able to get all of the following: liquour, fruit, chips, dog treats, baseball caps, t-shirts, new shoes and ice. Try to get help at Meier is like trying to pull a tooth-nobody wants to help you. Overpriced compared to other places.they trick you buy one get one half off. You end up spending more than you planned everytime thinking you're gonna save money with m perks etc. Then you look at your receipt realize the meager savings you might have got. The sales prices are the price that it should have been all along. The shoe selection sucks. The pharmacy is very unreliable. I love this store, the girl working at the self check out lane was amazing (I wish I knew her name) She helped my daughter pick up all her rubber bands that spilled as well as found a penny for my toddler for Sandy. Tonight I had the worst experience I've ever had at meijer in the 20 years I've been a customer. I found some gluten free bars that were on sale but they rang up full price. When the clerk called back, whoever was on the other end said they weren't on sale, which I know was a lie because I wouldn't have put 8 of them in my cart if they weren't on sale. So the clerk took them off the bill. Then after I paid, I went to leave from the grocery side, where my car was literally parked in the first row from the door, and they tell me I can't exit there, because they are locking the doors.
