The parking lot at the Ypsilanti MI store on Carpenter Road does not meet the standards I have come to expect from Meijer. First learned on the company when my store ( Hudson's ) opened a branch in Kentwood. Started shopping in the 28th street store when we were visiting family friends. Was over the top happy when they opened in Petoskey, MI and really upped the game for good offerings and service. Moved to Ann Arbor in 2022 and live near the Ann Arbor Saline road store. BUT, i like the larger store on Carpenter Road. The extra space allows for more SKU's. The parking lot is horrible. Needs to be brought up to the company standardsm read more

This Meijer location is special to me in that, it was my first "experience" of American grocery store after arriving in the states in 1983. Having immigrated to the states from a small country, let alone someone who lived in the boonies, the excitement and the amazement within was beyond description. The location has gone through many renovations and I'm glad to see that they finally moved the produce to the front of the store and the layout looks same with other stores. I was told this store is similar to Walmart. Some groceries are competitive (Morning Star products, some breads snacks, produce. Many items are not. This store would not replace Walmart for me if I lived in the area. Bonus points for having enough self checkout lanes. read more

It is so hard to find a good grocery store. I'm not very happy with my Kroger's so I decided to try Meijer. Although they've really cleaned this Meijer up from like 10 years ago customer service is still sorely lacking. Their bottle returns don't take back things that they sell here. When I went to customer service and asked about this she said I should go to Kroger's. I said Kroger's doesn't sell this product. She said " you can take them around the other Meijer see if they'll take them back". I asked if she could help me with that she said "no I can't and I can't take them here" so that was the end of that.. And to make a whole bottle deposit situation worse, three out of the four machines for plastics and cans are out of service. read more

I love Meijers Store remodel and it is easy to find products. I do wish they would open up the fitting rooms, why 4 star rating. It is a hassle when you have to return clothing that did not work out and certainly, you cannot undress out in the open. Also, I noticed that there has been a great reduction of on the floor staff and frontline cashiers (I understand the self serve with cashiers standing by for assistance when requested). I have found memories of Meijers when it was called Meijer Thrifty Acres back in the day. read more

Worst pharmacy ever! I work at a Dr office and we won't even send there anymore. Can never get through and when you do they say hold and never come back. I live by this pharmacy and now drive 20 minutes out of my way to another. They can never figure out my Medicaid as my second insurance. They want you to go back in line while they try and figure out of course while their taking on other customers? Only place that can't seem to get it together. This is a great place to go for a variety of items. The groceries are typically well stocked in the produce and meat sections. You can also get other items such as garden, household and other required items. Finding someone for help can be a challenge but overall I have not had many complaints. The gas station is also a plus and usually has reasonable prices. The lines move pretty quickly even during covid. I go here when I am in the area or cannot find the item at Kroger. Overall, I have been satisfied with the experience. read more

I love shopping at Meijer and the best part is the pharmacy has a Rx which the mail order company my employer encourages me to use is on back order. Always great to have your health care handled locally and not on backorder. read more

The store is clean and very good pricing. Due to the begging situation, I would not go there after dark. However today we were harassed at 8am. The store has bought all new shopping carts and put in cameras for the parking lot and still the harassment (including following woman to their cars) is out of control. DO NOT SHOP HERE!! I've been coming to this place for 40 years and I have never seen anything like this. Clearly everybody from the peoplemstocking groceries all the way up to the management are severely overwhelmed. I can only imagine what these people have been through with rude customers during this pandemic, because they do not have a second of patience and were insanely rude. I dont mean just rude. The manager would have gotten knocked smooth out of he spoke and looked at me like that in public. I had to walk away from a cart full of groceries, or I was seriously going to swing on him. Came to return a few pairs of shoes. Long line at a Customer Service. Or maybe better to say.. Slow line. Several customers in line to be serviced by 1 of 2 clerks. Finally completed my return which was fairly effortless.albeit slow. Returns made without a fuss. Was delighted to find Buy one get one for$1 sale on the sketchers relax fit sandal this same visit. Bought a pair for daughter and myself. But paid on time...another LONG line at the checkout. SIGH...what do they say??? You have to pay in Time or money. They have so many fish in such poor condition. Many fish were sucked into filters and dead. This means that they probably rarely clean the tanks. 1/2 of their bettas were clearly dying in the small containers they're kept in. Most of these containers were absolutely filthy. Absolutely disgusting. Please take better care of the fish you sell. read more

I prefer to mosey down to the Ann Arbor/Saline Meijer whenever I need produce, but when I'm in a hurry to cook a dish, I'll settle for this location. I'm not sure what it is, but this M has a different vibe. Maybe it's the lighting... It's just as busy as the other location on the weekend and carry just about the same items/have them in stock. I do love though that M can be a one stop shop for all of your needs. Ranging from personal care items to fishing/hunting, electronics, food, clothes, and even pet items. read more

Crazy long lines at checkout for a Tuesday. Granted students just came back but I would hope the managers would prepare for that. However, even with the long lines Meijer's prices STILL beat Kroger's. It's still my favorite grocery store, but man you really need to plan to stand in line for at least 20 minutes at checkout. read more

I don't know if anyone remembers the word/sign "fresh" they used to have on the left end of the store but they took it down for a reason. Their produce is pathetic. The Dole salad mixes, you don't know if you're getting fresh or about to be expired lettuce or not. The can goods are all dented which I understand is poisonous. You can't find an employee anywhere unless you're very lucky. read more

Just walking into this store makes me want to die. It's the most dirty and depressing place on earth. There's never enough cashiers and they have no clue how to bag groceries. It seems every time I visit this Meijer they have gone downhill in some way. They stopped carrying syrups for flavored coffee when most Meijer carry them. There are always really long lines and few cashiers open, and the bottle return now doesn't accept returns from Angry Orchard Hard cider, even when it's been purchased at that store. It's always a little something new, and not in a pleasant way. I think I'll take a hard pass from continuing to come to this Meijer when there is another less than 10 minutes away. read more

I am very impressed with the customer service. I went shopping today and purchased something that was priced buy one get one half off. At least that's what the tag said. After I checked out and looked at my receipt I realized I didn't get charged the sale price. I went to customer service and found out it was not on sale but they told me they would still give me the sale price since the sale tag had not been removed from the shelf. I got the sale price plus I was surprised when she said they were also going to give me the Michigan scanner award. I got an extra $5 for my inconvenience so I was pretty happy when I left. Because I did not have to ask. But, I would recommend always checking your receipt for incorrect pricing before you leave. read more

I like Meijer and frequently have shopped there my whole life, but this location was the worst and most frustrating experience ever. I understand the location is under construction/renovations, but if customers end up leaving there more frustrated than when they arrived or sucks. Plus the parking lot situation was the icing on the cake. I definitely would go to any other Meijer location than this one. read more

So not that you're going to check a review of Meijer before you go here, but you never know. No matter what time of day I go to this Meijer, they always seem to be out of a lot of things. Vast expanses of shelf...empty. Nobody knows why. It's a mystery that may never be solved. Their self-checkouts are not so good. They're jankity. Today mine froze, doing nothing, I think because the cat litter I put on the belt was too heavy. I looked around helplessly for an employee to assist me, but didn't see one. It eventually fixed itself, and the ladies behind me in line were whispering fervently about what could be wrong, and what I was doing and why I was just standing there. However, the self-checkouts are like 100 times faster, even with jankity software, than the actual people checkouts. SO FLIPPING SLOW. It could make a person resort to violence. Now I know that nobody loves working at Meijer, but just scan the freaking groceries quickly. You don't have to give a damn about what you're doing, just do it. But they don't. I've spent like 35 mins in line here for a 30 min shopping trip. Meijer does have a fairly good selection of good-for-you brands/foods, but they're much more expensive than, say, Trader Joes or even Whole Foods sometimes. The biggest pro of Meijer is their prices. Good for major grocery shopping. Good for household things and one-stop shopping. Lots of national brands if you use coupons. They understand foodstamps. These kinds of things. read more

Among the Meijer stores I've been to, this one needs a major updating. Thats another word for "it sucks". They should tear down the building and rebuild it from the ground up. Maybe I'm spoiled because for whatever reason, Meijer keeps up their stores in Grand Rapids. I sure hope this does not mean that the customers in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti do not rate high in their scale. I sure hope they read these reviews. On April 5th I waited in the customer service line to exchange a product. The line was quite long. A customer service associate told me to get the new item and come back. Unfortunately, there were even more customers in line when I returned with my new product. I asked the associate, Gabby, if I could skip the line but she said no. I had to wait a second time in line instead which was not the best. I will not be exchanging any other items here because of the wait time. read more

Staff is frequently out in the aisles during busy shopping hours stocking shelves. Checking out is a complete mess. Out of the 13 maned lanes it's rare that more then 2 or 3 are ever open. Meanwhile, areas with very few customers like electronics have 2 or more people standing around. All the lanes should be open, why have two greeters while customers stand in line for 10+ minutes? read more

I actually live right around the corner from this Meijer and drive 10 miles across town to the newer, nicer, less crowded Meijer. Every time I go in here, there are 8 million people and Meijer is out of just about everything. I can't ever get where I'm going without bumping into someone and the place is always filthy. The self-checkouts are never well manned so when the stuff I'm scanning errors for whatever reason, (it's usually a ridiculous one), it takes ten minutes to find a Meijer employee to help you. Also, the machines are 10% smarter than half the population, so you either find yourself behind Cletus while he tries to figure out how to use the machine, or behind the old lady who can't understand technology and is scanning at one item an hour. I love Meijer and shop there for everything, but this one is the store where I will go if I need something quick and don't have time to drive to the nice Meijer across town. read more

I have a lot of good things to say about Meijer, in general, and this Meijer in particular - the service is good, the store layout makes sense, lots of good products, prices, and quality. Their bathrooms (especially the 2nd floor bathroom) are D I S G U S T I N G. I have repeatedly complained to management over the years about this, and there has been no improvement. The second floor bathroom is public, though it is also the employee bathroom. I don't know about the women's, but the men's smells like a primitive campground latrine. There are piles of USED toilet paper in the corners of the stalls, the mirrors are smeared, the toilet seats are smeared. I might use the bathroom one in 10 times I go to Meijer to shop, which is pretty often - I prefer it over Kroger, especially for produce and meat, and last weeks experience was enough to drive me to write this review. If discretely contacting management doesn't work, maybe public SHAME might. It's not healthy, it's not good business, and I'm getting tired of having to deal with it. read more

Terrible customer call service. I called and was transferred a few times and was put on "hold". Once 30 minutes had passed and the line was completely silent, I asked if anybody was still there assisting me and there was no reply. Hung up, called back, and was assisted properly after I explained what had just happened - that's why there's 2 stars instead of 1. Pretty sure the employee who picked up my call set the phone down and didn't bother to come back. After all that trouble, my item had been lost in the store and marked up $100 than the day before. OK, it is Meijer, which means good prices and lots of stuff under a huge roof. But this meijer is always over-packed full of shoppers. try to get a parking space on a weekend, that is like trying to find free parking in downtown ann arbor. Also at this particular Meijer, there is never enough checkouts open, i will spend half of my time (or more) trying to check out. in the evenings/nights the staff can be very unhelpful, the bathrooms are trashed, not just paper on the floor trashed, blood on the floor trashed. read more
