I have a 2021 Hyundai that is now out of warranty. I saw no reason to go all the way to Centereach for a State inspection and a routine oil change. My old local mechanic retired and I wasn't all that happy with the new guy. i always thought of Meineke as a Muffler specialty shop and little else. I looked around, saw the Yelp reviews and decided to give them a shot. I'm very happy I did. The shop was clean and comfortable and the employees were terrific. I made an appointment for 1PM, got there on time and was taken right away (I wish my Doctor was like that) All of the work was completed and I was on my way home at 1:45. I'm a realist and I understand that it won't happen every time but they made a helluva first impression In short; Great,friendly service,reasonable prices and no attempt to sell me unneeded services. What's the point of making an appointment when the owner came out and said it will be somewhere between four and six hours. Horrible place as the past reviewer posted, Nah.. I thought it was a clean shop and they did a professional job on my baby. Speaking of babies, there is a really nice classic Mustang on a lift. These guys are car guys so I'm bringing my baby in. My old Corvette (Eat that Ford Mustang!) had a broken vacuum hose connecting to the catalytic converter and needed to be replaced. I get a phone call, we can't replace the silicone hose because its not made anymore so we have to weld a metal hose on instead. A few shekels more, well get to welding my good man! I found the guys at this Smithtown Meineke to be extremely professional and helpful. I have brought my car here at least several times and have always left happy . I have had my breaks repaired, oil changed as well as inspections with them. Dean is very personable and knowledgeable. I have also been helped by Eddie and Frank in the past and they were awesome . Picked up prior to them closing for the day. Also had an oil change and tire rotation. Very reasonabley priced, quote for the part was about half of what Toyota quoted for parts and labor. I usually only review food spots but I felt like this was worth it. I stopped at this place because my car started shaking on 347. I was far away from my house and worried about getting stuck. When I walked in, this shop really busy. I had to wait a bit but Dean the manager was very helpful and worked with my problem. I explained I was hoping whatever this was wasn't going to cost me a lot because I am getting rid of my car in a few months. Lucky, he told me I just needed my tires rebalanced and that should hold me until I get rid of my car. My car is running smooth and I've been driving it over a month. Dealt with owner, had a coupon for a free oil change sent to me by corporate (due to another Meineke giving me false information), said he couldn't honor it until he called to verify. Sounded reasonable enough to me, after leaving him with my contact information, he said he didn't know if it was "worth his time to make the call".. Worth your time? Doesn't people realize that the small things that companies do for their customers is what generates business? I will never do business there again and tell everyone I know not to go to this location. Meineke in general must have a horrible training for these franchise " businessmen" because you do not get quality service anywhere you go. This place was absolutely terrible. Do not go here if you don't know your cars problems. Dean and Eddie are both scam artists. They will tell you so much bs to rip you off. I went there for a car inspection and an ac problem. They told me my tires had to be changed when there was nothing wrong with them. When I asked them to fix my air conditioner, Dean told me it would cost $1000. That dirtbag will screw you over. I went to another place for the air conditioning and it only cost $90. I was dreading getting my exhaust system fixed. Since my car inspection in December, I've been hearing more and more rattling and banging from under the car. Honda, in their infinite wisdom, made all the pipes out of stainless steel so none of them were rotted... but used regular steel on the hangers and hardware which after ten years were rotted out. When some tin fell off, I knew it was time. My regular mechanic had a medical emergency, so I called the dealership. They could get me an appointment in ten days. I called Meineke of Smithtown, they said to stop over (no appointment!) got my car on the lift in five minutes, showed me what was wrong, gave me a quote, fixed it in forty-five minutes and charged me what I was quoted. Both guys were very friendly. Bonus star: The waiting area was clean. The chairs were wide enough for my giant butt. All in all, a perfect experience. Thanks guys! read more

This is one of the shadiest shops around. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE TOLD THINGS THAT DONT NEED TO GET DONE! Yesterday they told me that my car would be fine for inspection if I did the rear brakes costing $400 and I need to get an inspection done or my car will fail with the new bullshit laws NYS put in place so come back. They didn't know that I do all the work on my car. Today I come back with my brakes done and magically they "can't inspect my car" for fines that don't come into play until tomorrow. So it was ok yesterday when you were going to sell me rear brakes that I didn't really need? Right.... What a piece of garbage that little guy was! Avoid this place. Horrible place. The people are very rude they took days to take care of my car. When I went in to ask the man at the desk he was extremely nasty. On top of everything they tell you one price at the beginning and then raise it by a couple hundred when you come to pick it up. I normally do most of my own work , but I needed a exhaust repair that was beyond my ability , I was very impressed with the work they did on my car . I was greeted by Eddie in the office and within minutes my car was inside, after he explained what i needed and gave me the estimate , the work was underway. Later I recieved a call from Dean to let me know my car was done. When i arrived to pick the car up although the shop was very busy and I was helped quickly and took care of the bill.
