A day later they called me to tell me it was fixed. It cost over $600 and they couldn't tell me exactly what was wrong. After having problems with the explanation, he finally just said, "The brakes were put on wrong". First, the brakes had been on the truck for over a year with no problems. Second, they didn't replace the brakes. The bill showed seals and labor. The emergency brakes weren't hung up any more so I left it at that but I'll never go back again.

They were busy but got everything done in record time by Jan 2. My niece went to preschool with Matt's daughter so my family has known him for years. That said, I think he is very fair about letting our family know when things need to be changed and what could maybe wait a few miles. I also like that he keeps in mind that my mom (72 years young) is on a limited budget, is constantly driving 100 miles up to Jersey City to visit me once a month and drives to her friend in Tom's River a couple times a month. He charges her a fair price and I never think it's price gouging. I thank God that my mom has a credit card because this fix was a doozy but still very reasonable. I'm not in a place where I can just pay off the bill for her but at least I don't feel like she will be paying for the fix forever. On a side note, there is a vacuum thing next to the vending machines for a $1.00. We make use of that every now and then too.

Fulmer's saved me over $3500, and then also fixed a problem for $130 that the dealer created and…read morethen couldn't resolve after three separate visits. Apparently NY law requires dealers to only work on exhaust systems with original manufacturer parts. So the fact that I had a couple of rusted out hangers meant that the Toyota dealer wanted $4000 to replace the entire exhaust system including the catalytic converter. PA does not have this requirement, and Henry at Fulmer's said he could weld on a couple of brackets for $200 and fix the problem. When he got the car up on the rack, it appeared that somewhere along the way, someone (probably the dealer) had replaced one of the brackets with a hose clamp, which itself was just dangling from the exhaust pipe. The dealer had also told me I needed new rear brakes, and I believed them, and had the work done for ~$2000. But literally as soon as I drove out of the shop, it was making these unpleasant low-frequency groans when I applied the brakes. I took it back the next day, and then on two subsequent occasions, and they were unable to tell me what was wrong. Henry took a look at (and listen to) it and diagnosed it as "someone didn't clean the protective adhesive layer off your new rotor, and now it has gummed up the new pads." Sure enough, when I went back today he showed me the gummy stuff smeared off the edges of the brake pads. He cleaned it up with some sandpaper and graphite, and as soon as I drove away I realized I had forgotten there had been anything wrong, because there were no weird noises coming from my car any longer. I just appreciate so much what they did that I wanted to share this info with anyone who might get an "oh god now I have to buy a new car" quote from your dealer, and suggest maybe it's worth a call to see if a real old-fashioned mechanic can sort you out for a fraction of the cost.

They also allowed me to pay them over the phone because they saw that I had been a frequent visitor over the last couple of months, and I didn't have my credit card with me when my window broke. They definitely didn't have to do that but did--what a customer courtesy! They also gave me a water while waiting because I had just come from a long run. What more can you ask for! This is one of a handful of small businesses in the area that I actually feel comfortable at. I drive out of my way to get gas here to support them. You should come and see for yourself and hopefully do the same. These guys picked up where Tom and Nick left off--courteous, honest, and hard-working. I have already been to them numerous times for gas, oil changes, inspections, repairs--all of which were handled with care. Chris, with whom I spoken on a number of , is professional and positive, something that makes the experience of going here more pleasant. I feel strongly about people who are working hard to establish a new business in the community, and these guys are doing just that! Highly recommend!

Don't buy tires here…read more I got 4 new tires, and the tire pressure light is permanently on. CJ's is unable to fix the issue that they caused. Why would new tires have a pressure problem? My daughter got a new tire for a different car a week later and she has the same problem with the tire pressure light. CJ's can not resolve the problem.

Exceptional Service…read more I called to set up an appointment for an oil change. I was leaving the country, so i scheduled work to be done about 3 weeks away. Just in case my calendar doesnt remind me or that I forget that I even had it set up to begin with, I had asked them if they were going to give me a courtesy call or a text reminder the week of my oil change. Fast forward to returning from my vacation and they had sent me a text reminding me and to confirm my appointment for said date and time. I responded to their text and that was it, I was ready. I took my vehicle in. I was promptly seen, given an eta and left my key. I just decided to stay in the waiting area anyway because it wouldnt take that look anyway. I helped myself to their complimentary beverages in their fridge and shortly enough I received an email of all the workups my car needed and that the job is done. Note that this is just an inspection and you are not obligated to get the recommendations done immediately or with them- it is just for peace of mind. In the sheet, it lists what is immediate and a cost estimate to make it convenient for me. Whether you want the work done or not, it is up to you. I promptly paid for the oil change and I got to walk away with estimates for the next job and a completed oil change on my vehicle. Keep up the great job.
