    Schnitzel made to order.

Classic schnitzel made in front of you. When in Vienna, this is a must do ritual. Meissl & Schadn is a local fixture. Business people and tourists flock to this place at lunch time (when I visited). Order the classic and a few glasses of Austrian to accompany. A wonderful way to spend one of your lunches in Vienna.

I wanted to try schnitzel since I was in Vienna and this place looked promising as it was highly rated and also didn't require cash! I ordered the veal schnitzel and it was so thin and well cooked. I got the buttered potatoes as my side and I needed some veggies so I got the Waldorf salad as well. Overall the meal was good and a good baseline for a schnitzel! The service was really great and the servers were very attentive. And the restaurant is really big! But I went at an off time and there were still people there! It was wonderfully decorated for the holidays!

This place was touted as the best schnitzel in Vienna. And there's a lot of schnitzel in this town. I found this place to be mediocre food, with average service. A nice place, and it's fun to watch the cooks make endless schnitzel, but I think I would try elsewhere. A colleague found this place and we were all looking forward to trying it. Only could get a reservation for 9:00, but it was a good night for outdoor seating so we took it. Don't have starters - went straight to the schnitzel. I had the one with garnish, cranberry, and potato salad. I oh so wanted to love it, but it was just so average. Really disappointed. The garnishes and other didn't really add much. Got dessert. A strudel (average) and something else (can't remember the name but here's a photo). Looked great but also so so. Meh.

It's a centrally located Viennese restaurant with Austrian cuisine. Amazing Schnitzel, wine selection and salads. Bone Marrow starter was awesome. Indoor and outdoor seating. Good accessibility with wide area inside with ramp entrance and big tables. Accept touchless payment. Service was quick and responsive with English speaking staff.

In summary, we were pleased but not dazzled. Probably a 3.5 star experience. Let me break this down: Wiener Schnitzel: (B) Here's the rub... this was probably the best Weiner Schnitzel I've ever tried, yet it wasn't great. I've personally never tried excellent Weiner Schnitzel and was hoping Meissl Schadn changed this. So the bar was set pretty low. It turned out to the best I've had, but the best wasn't good enough for me. I'll continue my search for the elusive delectable Wiener Schnitzel!! Appetizers: (B+) We tried both the Beef Tartare and the Bone Marrow. Both were quite good but not memorable. Potato Salad: (C-) Not my cup of tea... tasteless. Instead, fries would've been great. Ambiance and Service (A-): Pleasant ambiance coupled with good and prompt service. For a party of six, we spent 279 Euros (5 Weiner Schnitzels with accompanying potato salad, water, only one beer, 3 appetizers, no dessert).

We ate here our first day in Vienna at the recommendation of the concierge at the Ritz-Carlton. My wife and I both got the schnitzel and this golden chunk of goodness satisfied our craving. The cranberries are always a nice edition, even though I enjoy just a lemon with mine. The potato salad here was my favorite of all the schnitzel places we've eaten at in Vienna. I wanted to make it back for the house soufflé but we were unable.

    Schnitzel, classic style.

On the recommendation of a friend I visited this place for lunch. Service was polite, attentive and FAST! I think they see an American enter the restaurant an they get the schnitzel cooking, it literally was at my table in under 5 minutes. That said, the schnitzel was perfectly done, moist and tender meat encased in a crispy breadcrumb crust. I chose the classic accompaniments that the say were the favorites Sigmund Freud and other Viennese luminaries.

Michelin recommended Meissl & Schadn during a delightful holiday trip to Vienna, and it did not disappoint. Conveniently located next to the Ritz Carlton, this small yet charming restaurant exudes a classic, old-world atmosphere. Since we had a reservation, we were promptly seated, and from the start, the experience was seamless. The star of the menu is, of course, their schnitzel--and what a treat it was! To kick things off, we ordered the steak tartare, which was nothing short of spectacular--rich, flavorful, and beautifully presented. For the main course, diners can choose how they want their schnitzel prepared, with the top two options being clarified butter or lard. You can also opt to add bone marrow and a side of their signature potato salad. I must say, the schnitzel was outstanding--perfectly crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and packed with flavor. The bone marrow with the crispy buttery bread was simply superb. The service was attentive and efficient throughout the meal, further enhancing the experience. In fact, my significant other and I enjoyed the meal so much that we returned the very next day! If you're looking for an exceptional schnitzel in a lively, classic setting, Meissl & Schadn is a place I wholeheartedly recommend.

Wonderful service! We watched wiener schnitzels by the dozens making their way from kitchen to table. Had the pikeperch and boiled beef with a generous pour of a wine called wiener gemsichter satz.

Only true way to order is cooked via lard.

Excellent place for schnitzel done the correct way. Michelin guide reviewed, I was more thank pleased with everything at Meissl. The service was fast and professional. The atmosphere was inviting and great for groups or just the solo traveler. And the location was right in the middle of everything. I opted for the traditional preparation with lard vice the clarified butter. Coming with potato salad and cranberries, both of which were also excellent, means you will want to finish the entire plate - I did. The great wine selection was also reasonably priced to take advantage of great Austrian wine. Veal schnitzel in Vienna. Done.

Tried the famous Michelin guide reviewed classic Austrian dish made by Meissen & Schadn Erin which was a restaurant connected to my hotel. Sadly the service was very horrible and the wait after seating/dining was so dreadful. Felt like they didn't even want to serve us because we didn't order as many items as other bigger parties. Had to flag down multiple staff to just let me pay and leave. The food was bland and this is a total tourist trap. Wouldn't recommend this place to travelers who are wishing to try to classic Viennese schnitzel. You can honestly get it at a local bar for 1/2 the price and better quality!

The food here is amazing. The Wiener schnitzel may look huge, but you will end up eating the whole thing because it is so delicious and light. The service was quick and the ambiance was beautiful. I also recommend getting the Salzburger Nockerln for dessert. It was to die for.

Hands down after trying 10+ schnitzel spots - this together with restaurant Wiener is the best schnitzel spot in Austria, better than hyped places like figlmüller or plachuta. We also tried sixta and other good online Rated spots The portion, size, quality and interior nailed it. It could be more crunchy outside but taste wise this is the best and worth a try! Skip the Tafelspitz. Get the schnitzel with marmelade and cucumber salad.

Our entire meal top to bottom was excellent, just excellent! We would likely go back tomorrow evening again, but we have leftovers to eat still. The service was top notch, attentive, and thankfully in English as my German is just not good. It's a nicely appointed place with wood abound, and very clean washrooms. The food was outstanding from our "Olde Vienna Stockpot" soup to start to the Weiner Schnitzel and potatoes which were excellent. We also ordered the egg Spaetzle and shared all three items. The soup was so good, the depth of flavour and the noodles and vegetables all came together in harmony. The Spaetzle was different than we make at home, but it sure was good, and plentiful with a salad that we didn't quite understand. The Schnitzel was large, not larger than the plate large, but it was a big plate that it came on. The potatoes were perfectly cooked and nicely seasoned, and the Schnitzel was perfect with the breading separated from the meat like it's supposed to be. The beer was excellent as was the "white wine" whatever it was. Would we go back, hell yeah we would! I wish we were staying in Vienna longer so we could, it was that great of an experience, and on top of it excellent value.
