Monday lunch special here is the BEST! Prime Rib Sandwich with either fries or cole slaw for $11.99. Best deal in town! The meat is REALLY prime rib, cut up & delivered in an awesome focaccia bun with cheese!...you can simply dip it in the au jus, add horseradish creamy dressing or freshly ground real horseradish! Food 4/5: Overall, the food is above a beyond the "the bar food" average. The Walleye and Broasted Chicken is our favorite for entrees. Service 4/5: The restaurant get busy on weekends and warmer patio nights. Our waiter was overall helpful, tentative, and respectful. Atmosphere 4/5: A go to place in the summers! Updating my earlier review. What I wrote before is all true. Standard bar-and-grill food; warm, casual atmosphere, typical small-town feel. Since the pandemic, Meister's has added outdoor tables, where I sat today with friends for breakfast after a bike ride. It was nice to sit outside, but...breakfast needed improvement. Dining companion's cheese omelet featured the veggie fillings he'd expected, but the cheese consisted of a square of Kraft American set atop the outside, only partially melted. Unless noted, all breakfasts include their cheesy hash browns. I ordered the Scotty Special, the standard eggs/hashbrown/meat/toast breakfast. I asked for no cheese and they accommodated. However, there was no meat on my plate. When I pointed that out to our waitress, she told me that was not included. (I double checked the menu later, and yes, the description includes breakfast meat.) In summary, yes, go to Meister's and enjoy a meal out in the country...for lunch or dinner. read more

I absolutely love this place! It's always a great stop when out on the bike. The staff are great. The food is great. One thing I was disappointed in this last time I was there is the fish fry. Last year it was the best in the state. We went there recently and it was no where close to as good. They changed something and it isn't working. Meister's Bar & Grill is a great little bar in a beautiful and quaint little town. After hiking at the nearby state park, my bride and I decided to stop there. Outside/inside seating. The food is good bar food. The German Nachos were weirdly good. Burgers are nicely cooked and tasty. Not a huge tap line, but decent choices. Legend has it, since 1959, Meister's Bar and Grill has been serving up some of the best burgers in Minnesota. They also happen to have a good challenge. Tonight, I drove to Scandia, Minnesota, about 45 minutes northeast of Minneapolis, to check this place out. Absolutely delicious challenge! Juicy burgers, a generous serving of cheese curds piled on the burger, onion ring, and fries. The previous record was 10 minutes. The new record is 8:33! The only downfall was that the restaurant didn't have tshirts in stock. But they said they'd mail me one. read more

Each winter (January-March), the Scandia-Marine Lions Club is able to do Bingo games for Meister's customers. The tables and booths often are filled with people who enjoy playing a game or two (or the entire afternoon of games) while having something to eat or drink. It's a fun way to spend some time out of the cold; and the burgers and fries are always great. Looking forward to the 2020 "Bingo season." It would be nice to see Meister's give out some extra prizes (besides the cash that the Lions do) for the Bingo games. A free pop, appetizer, or dessert would get people even more excited about eating at Meister's and giving them something new to try. Knowing that you could win money from the Lions AND food/beverage prizes from Meister's would attract even more people to the restaurant. It seems like an easy way to increase business and customers. Hopefully Meister's will start doing that in 2020. read more

I give this place a 5-star rating because it deserves that and some. This was my first visit. A friend and I decided to drive up from Stillwater to check this establishment out. When we walked in it was a change of shift Lucy was leaving and Sarah was coming in to work. We got a chance to interact with Lucy before she left, she was very personable and approachable. Based on my interaction with her I knew we would be in for a treat. Sarah was kind, helpful, and courteous she also served us with a smile. I ordered the turkey burger with fries and it was perfectly cooked, the fries were also great. Sarah made sure our drinks were always filled, she was busy but made sure we were taken care of the whole time we were there. My buddy had something different because they were out of a few things so he got cheese curds and fries. My buddy told me that he enjoyed his food also. I've been coming to Meisters for 7 years. The burgers are great. The wait staff are friendly and efficient. The booths were a little rough but I think they have updated them. Seem to be more comfortable. Less holes and rips in the seats. The burgers did suffer a little during the lockdown as doing takeout just wasn't the same as dining in. Maybe the cook changed too. Also seems the fries have changed a little too. I liked the way they were a little greasy. The atmosphere here is casual and relaxing. However recently it seems the lighting has changed. Perhaps they are planning to do surgery on someone??? Anyway WOW it's way too bright in here! Could really use a dimmer switch for a more relaxed romantic evening feel. Pleeease someone get a clue! Staff is rude and slow, weak overpriced drinks, and food is horrible! Well, you can forget about any of the appetizers that are deep fried because they use old oil so everything tastes like rotten onions. The foods sits around before it is delivered so the fries are cold and soggy. The onion rings come out in a big blob, and the curds, wings and chicken strips are greasy. The bartenders and wait staff (if you can find one) clearly have attitude issues and only cater to the locals and the drunks. The place is dirty, and the bathrooms are a pit with toilets that don't flush, no toilet paper, or paper towels. All of the positive reviews on here were clearly written by staff. We walked over and asked for menus. Then they just didn't come back to us. It was really strange. The people next to us also thought it was strange.
