Cute coffee place in Mt. Lebanon with amazing crepes, coffee and sandwiches - been waiting 2 1/2 years to try this (work during the day and parking is tight) and today got the chance. The mocha coffee I absolutely loved. It was as of someone melted a big brick of bittersweet cocoa with some sugar and cream. Rich and earthy flavor, exactly how I like. The crepe was also impressive, with caramel and cream, powdered sugar and apple bits. The woman taking the order was very pleasant, and the people behind the counter thanked me as I left. Disclaimer that I haven't had a full meal at Mel's Petit Café...yet! This charming little eatery is across from my dentist's office, so I typically stop in for coffee and a pastry after my appointments. There aren't a lot of tables or chairs, but thanks to large windows and beautiful blue walls, the space feels bright and inviting regardless. Foodwise, the café's specialty is definitely crepes, which take up the most space on their chalkboard menu. There are also a handful of sandwich options. One day, I promise I'll enjoy one of these delectable-looking treats...but given that I'm enjoying holiday treats left and right at the moment, I didn't indulge in either today. Drinkwise, Mel's Petit Café serves up some darn good coffee. Today I got the cookie butter latte special. Their recipe called for oat milk, which was an absolutely delicious choice. And the latte definitely hit the right balance of added flavor and coffee flavor for me; it was an excellent way to re-caffeinate before continuing with my day. I also got a muffin to take home for later - Mel's Petit Café serves mixed berry muffins, all of which are made with blueberries and raspberries. And these are GOOD muffins. These aren't the muffins that only have two bites of fruit total; I've had half of mine and it is FULL of berries. Absolutely delicious and I'll probably order one of these to go every time I visit from now on. Add in a team that's all smiles and does an excellent job keeping things moving, and this place is a 10/10 (well, 5/5 on Yelp). I like it. Crepes are underrepresented as a breakfast lunch option and they offer a good selection. Environment is comfortable for meeting and lingering. Only complain was that my last visit was an hour before clossing and they were out of regular drip coffee. So the option given was to buy an "Americano". This is made by adding water to expresso. My issue is that is cost $7 for a large compared to $ for a large coffee. And they did not skimp on the water. :(. They should at least have a policy of substitution at the same price when the regular coffee (which I thought was good during past visits) is out of stock. read more

Went there on a Saturday morning and had the savory La Béchamel (ham and cheese) and the sweet Tutti Frutti ( berry mix with fruit drizzle and whipped cream). This is one of my regular stops when I want to treat myself. I like the sweet crepes (chocolate banana, jelly and the 3-mini crepes). Someday I will try a Panini. I always enjoy the Cookie Butter Latte. I have had other lattes that were equally good. I appreciate that everything is delivered to the table. The seating room is cozy with tables and sofa and there is another room where you can watch the cooking action. Sometimes it is a little chilly in the larger room, so bring a sweater. Parking is sometimes tricky. It is usually a busy place and can get a little loud--because there are happy people. When it isn't overly crowded, the music is good. One time I felt as if they were playing my Apple Play List. ;-) read more

Great food, and service. Mel's Petit Cafe is definitely petite, with a few tables on the main floor and more tables and seats downstairs. It does get cold downstairs but they have some space heaters that patrons can move around. The main menu is on the chalkboard wall, and our group got la complete, la bergere, and la nordique. They also sell some baked goods. All dishes were great, comes with a small side salad and I would get any one of them again. They were all savory, light and delicious. Coffee was also very good. My daughter and I were excited to try this place out after the countless times we've passed by. Unfortunately, this was a "one and done," for us. Perhaps we didn't order the right things, but based on what we did have, the quality/flavor/value of everything did not add up well. The kitchen and ordering area are on the upper level that you walk into though the front entrance. After ordering, we stepped down to the dining area and snagged a table while we waited for our crepes. It's my second time visiting this place and love it! I really wanted to leave a 5 star review, but poor business decisions prevented me from doing so. A friend and I stopped in for lunch, as I was searching the area for an authentic Croque monsieur. I ordered one and although it took a little while to prepare and was on the small side, it was still delicious and worth the wait. My dining companion ordered a panini and was very satisfied. Here is my issue...I purchased an iced tea along with my meal. They offered 3 sizes of beverages and I asked if they offer refills and was told "yes", so I chose a small. Why pay for a large when they offer refills. The small iced tea was $3.50 or so, rather pricey for a basic iced tea ( not flavored or infused). I went to the counter after finishing my drink and asked for a refill, I was told there would be a charge. I have never experienced a charge for an iced tea refill anywhere I have dined. This policy unfortunately has cost them my business, as I don't plan on returning. On a side note I asked the server for a straw and she said they do not have them. I inquired why and she said " well you know because of the environment". How is this logical? They have plastic cups with plastic lids. If they are so concerned about the environment why not have paper cups or paper straws. They may have delicious food, but they fail in business department. read more

I really wanted to love this place, but based on my first experience, I didn't. Maybe part of that is because I used to live in France and am comparing my food to the authentic crepes I used to have there. It might be an issue with the water quality for the crepe itself but it just did not taste right. On that note, stay away from the tap water available - it tasted awful. We ordered the La Complete and La Resolution crepes. The ingredients tasted fresh and I like that they come with a little side salad. I recommend having two eggs for the La Complete because one egg is not enough yolk to last you through the entire crepe and it would help with the dryness of the crepe. That being said, the Maple Latte was absolutely delicious (I recommend getting it less sweet). I would like to try the dessert crepes at some point...if they are delicious, I will definitely be sure to update my review. read more

I wanted to love this so much. I love crepes, I love French decor, and I love small business. So I admit I had very high expectations. The location is gorgeous, feels so fancy and chic. Staff was so friendly and helpful. I got the applesauce crepe. And I guess I should've guessed the texture but it was mushy. Like really mushy. Could've used more cinnamon also. My boyfriend went with a savory crepe. The crust was awesome looking but the entire crepe was soaked in vinegar. Not a great time. Their baked goods were delicious however, as was their coffee. I met a friend here for lunch on Sunday around 11am. While it was busy there was plenty of seating still available in the side room. With plenty of windows and cozy decor, this was a lovely place to sit for a while. We each ordered a savory galette and they were filling, delicious, and tasted healthy. It was an unexpected plus to learn that many of the galettes are buckwheat, and gluten free. The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed meeting Mel, the shop's namesake. Visiting Mel's Petit Cafe has been on my restaurant bucket list since they opened in 2020, and I finally got a chance to stop by for brunch this past weekend. There was no private lot, but residential street parking is available. When you walk in, you'll immediately see the kitchen area behind glass panes, including the crepe griddles. If you look to the right, past the cashier, you'll see a chalkboard menu with their savory/sweet crepes and drinks. They also have a "soup of the day" and rotating sandwich specials. After taking our order, we were handed a table number and walked down the stairs to the dining area. There were several small tables to choose from, including seating that looked out to the street, which would be perfect for people-watching. We waited ~15 minutes for our food, which included two "La Complete" savory crepes, and a Nutella sweet crepe to share. Though it looks thin, the savory crepe with egg, cheese, and ham was very filling. It wasn't specified on the menu, but it also came with a small salad, topped with a Dijon vinaigrette dressing that I would've preferred on the side. My wife and I stopped here for the first time this past week, and we each ordered a "La Bergère" (Gluten Free) Galette, which is made with a Buckwheat batter, and is filled with turkey, fresh spinach, crumbled goat cheese, and honey. We had never had Galettes before, so this was a new experience for us. We enjoyed watching them being prepared, and couldn't believe how much spinach they added, a giant heaping portion. Cute cozy cafe with yummy, fresh crepes! I got the caprese, which had fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and pesto and it was very good and filling. Also got the sugar cookie latte which was festive without being overly sweet. Came with a group and my food came out much later than the others but I think it was because we did not all order at once and they make the crepes fresh. Kid friendly too with a high chair available and changing table in women's restroom. One downside is the parking situation, on a Saturday had to park a block away and sidewalks were icy. read more

I visited this cute little creperie in Mt. Lebanon on a Sunday morning. It is a few blocks before the main street in Mt. Lebanon, but is easy to find. There is residential street parking around the cafe. My brother has been here before and hyped it up. We went around 10:30 am and it was pretty busy! When you walk in there is a small kitchen, a chalkboard menu, and 3-4 high top tables and chairs. I think most people would reserve these seats for if you just got a coffee or a pastry. You order when you walk in and then go down the steps to find the dining room. The staff gives you a number and brings the food to your table when it's ready. My brother and his girlfriend ordered 2 regular coffees, the La Complete (Gluten free)- Buckwheat galette, egg, ham, swiss cheese, and the Banane chocolat- Crêpe, fresh sliced banana, chocolate sauce. I ordered a single shot of espresso and the La Bonne Résolution (Gluten Free, vegetarian) Buckwheat galette, egg whites, fresh spinach, sautéed mushrooms, tomatoes, red onions, balsamic glaze). We waited about 15 minutes for the food to come out, but the 2 coffees didn't come out until we were half way done eating. They had to brew a new pot and it took about 30 minutes. They understood, but we were there longer because of the wait. All of the crepes/galettes were incredible. Sometimes I think of crepes being small and sweet and just like a small snack. These crepes are huge and stuffed full of delicious fillings. I actually can't believe I ate the whole thing since it was so huge, but I couldn't stop. I've never had a buckwheat crepe, but I loved how savory and thick it was. I watched the employees (maybe the owner?) making the crepes fresh in the open view kitchen. The food was awesome and I enjoyed my espresso (La Prima). The reason for 4 stars is because the staff seemed confused. After taking our orders, they came to our table and asked for our full order again. The coffees took a while, and our buzzer never went off even after our food was delivered. Maybe they have all new employees, because it seemed like they did not have a flow. The bathroom was also out of toilet paper. The barista was appreciative that I notified him. They were just super busy, and I can see why. This place is amazing! On the way out I impulsively ordered a slice of carrot cake. I ate half of it as soon as I got home. I will absolutely get a slice again next time. I was bummed that they were sold out of La Nordique (Gluten Free)- Buckwheat galette, smoked salmon, cream cheese and dill, so I will probably order that next time. This place is a gem! Nope ! Dont waste your money here. They dont care for health code nor care for their employees! My boyfriend worked here for a few days and was "terminated" for calling out sick with POISON IVY. Its really impressive the lack of concern they have for their employees/customers health. If they expect their employees to cook and serve food while having a severely contagious rash, id rather not imagine the other health code violations they've chosen to ignore... a simple doctor's note could have proven he was in fact ill, but they told him not to bother coming in... its honestly quite disgusting the lack of care they showed for him. If youre thinking about applying here, don't waste your time. If youre thinking about eating here, be prepared to be sick after. read more

Mel's is a cute new creperie in Mt. Lebanon. It's on the corner and not clearly marked. There's street parking only on the side street, which could be challenging. Inside, they have made great use of the space and had seating downstairs, which I didn't get to see as I got takeout. The buckwheat la caprese was a large portion with a small side salad and homemade dressing. All of the flavors came together well and the pesto balanced out the cheese and tomatoes. The buckwheat was a bit stronger in flavor. The sweet crepes, Nutella and the chocolate banana, were also big hits with the kids. We will return again some point soon. read more

What a great little breakfast. You can't go wrong with an authentic crepe. If you are a coffee lover there is coffee, tea, espresso, cappuccino, lattes and hot chocolate. We had a galettes, the La Complete is ham, Swiss & egg in a buckwheat galette. We also had a sweet crepe of berry jelly. Both were so good. They have a frequent buyer punch card for drinks which is great when you'll be coming back for more anyway. Thé crepes are very good, more so the sandwiches. Super tiny, super cute cafe! I've passed it a million times and finally decided to stop inside. I came around 11am and the place was packed. It's easy to see why! The food is flavorful and even pretty to look at. Especially the lemon bars. Oh my goodness. YUM. Soft, lemony without being too tart or too sweet, and just the right size for a snack. In a rush, I'd highly recommend these. Other items like the paninis and crepes take a little longer to get because they're being made from scratch, so be prepared to wait if you'd like a meal. It doesn't take much for the cafe to get a little crowded too, since it is so small and so popular, so be aware of this if you come at lunchtime or a 9am breakfast. If you do decide to come to sit down for a bit, I'd say it's totally worth it. I'll certainly be coming back! read more

Great to have a unique creperia in the South Hills! Mels is located right off Beverly Road and has a full dining area in addition to offering pickup or takeout. Mel's offers a number of crepes from savory crepes ranging from ham, egg and cheese to cream cheese, dill, and smoked salmon or sweet crepes which are up my alley. I've enjoyed the chocolate and banana crepe which had a great balance of sweet chocolate and banana slices in a perfectly folded crepe and the Tatin crepe with home made apple sauce, cinnamon and caramel. Absolutely love it! We just moved to the area and missed our favorite L.A. creperie. Mel's filled that void! The space is very quaint, with a small amount of outdoor seating and ample indoor seating. The staff was lovely, very friendly and patient. We ordered 4 crepes and waited around 15-20 mins while enjoying our coffee. The cookie butter latte is amazing. The Espresso is one of the best I've ever had. Ham and Swiss galette was perfect cooked. The cheese was melted and the egg was runny.
