Food was delicious except the Naan which though tasty didn't seem freshly made. We tried the Lamb curry, Garlic naan and the Mutton biriyani. Portions were reasonable but slightly smaller and expensive compared to what we are used to in California. My favorite was their goat biryani, which was incredibly tender and well seasoned, but if that isn't an option they have a great take on tikka masala. I came to visit my youngest one who goes to WSU, with husband and elderly parents. Felt like eating Indian food so tried this place out. The owners were so friendly and kind, even made the place warmer when they saw my mom was cold. The place is simple, super clean, quiet, beautiful and the food was amazing! Me and my friends still come here very often. The food comes out warm but I wish it can come out HOT. The food it flavorful in spice but the adjustments in spicy have been made but it's so slight it is very faint. I wish there was a little more of a kick when it comes to being spicy but it was well seasoned with spice. Service is always super nice, we get checked up by all the staff and it makes it feel warm and welcoming. Truly delicious with wonderful flavors omg and those chicken samosas were delicious also make sure to get that tamarind sauce. I also got the Lamb curry so delicious with just enough spice and a nice fluffy rice and palate cleanser. My family and I dined at Mela a few weeks ago and had a wonderful experience! I ordered and got to taste test the Mattor Paneer Masala, Palak Dish, Fish Dopeyaja, and Beef Tehari. Everything was delicious and well portioned. My father has an Omega 6 allergy and when he asked the waitress about ingredients used in the dishes, the owner personally visited our table to provide insight and make recommendations. She even went as far as to assure him that she would make sure to have an Omega 6-free option on the menu in the future! The customer service was amazing. For dessert, we split the Golap Jum, which was a perfect way to end our meal. I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to visiting again. read more

Brought a friend here a few months ago, and now I brought my mom today. We all enjoyed the food a lot. The beef samosas were delicious. Same with the chicken tikka masala, curry, and chicken biryani. The service was great and I felt very welcome from the second I walked in the door. We were allowed to seat ourselves and there was only two or three other groups of people in the restaurant around 6pm on a Saturday. I got the chicken Tikka marsala. They give you so many options for each dish. You can choose to sub the rice for just Naan bread for a dollar. Or if you choose to keep the rice you can sub the salad for more rice for free. If you choose to also keep the salad there are three different types of dressing for it. Personally I'm a sauce lover so I wish there was just a little more sauce on the dish. My only complaint is the presentation of the baby carrots on the salad, it just takes away from the overall look of the dish. read more

Located in a prime location in beautiful and charming downtown Pullman, street parking was readily available. The food was incredible, authentic Bangladeshi fare with generous portions. I will give this meal three stars because overall when I left I had enough food, no leftovers which is fine, and most of it was pretty OK. It was also overall a little disappointing based on the reviews juxtaposed with my experience, however. My butter chicken was not discernible as butter chicken and had no richness nor even a hint of butter and what was reported by the chef as primarily tomatoes and onions tasted like poorly seasoned pumpkin. The rich spices, tomato flavor, butter, and seasoning I expected were not present. While I ordered my meal spicy, there was not a hint of spice. The vegetable and chicken samosas were really good and the tamarind sauce was as expected and the mint sauce was above average. The raita, however, tasted like melted frozen yogurt. It was extremely sweet and not good. The basmati rice was delicious and the pita bread was pretty good. It looks like I can anticipate a response from the owner based on these other reviews which is not necessary. This is a reflection of my dining experience. I drove quite a distance for this meal based on the reviews. The ambience was average, the location is good, and the service was OK minus not appreciating the check in from the chef on how things were after the meal was totally done. We had reservations for 6:00 on Thanksgiving eve (aka Wednesday). I think it was busier than they expected, they're still getting their feet under them, and food was slow to come out, but the host kept our waters filled and it's got a cute bistro feel, so waiting didn't bother us. The veggie samosas were fantastic and Mela's tamarind sauce is one of the best I've had. Their vegan pakoras weren't the vegetable ones I'm used to, but are made of lentil flour. I'm from the South and they reminded me of hush puppies (which I love, made from corn meal). Isn't it neat how different cultures can create such similar appetizers? I'm a vegetarian so I got the mattor paneer, and it was delicious. Their mild is a very mild. I can't handle spicy food, and my partner pours Sriracha on everything. He asked for medium to very spicy. Surprisingly I think we both could have handled more spice, but I see why they're cautious at Mela. He had a chicken dish and really liked it. The whole Mela staff is very friendly and I enjoyed my evening out. It is kind of pricey, but this is labor-intensive cuisine, so I understand. We will return for take-out or special occasions.
