Clean inside and it has a big outdoor seating section. The service was attentive and friendly. The food was presented nicely and tasted delicious. It would be nice if the location was in a different spot so you could have a better view while sitting outside but that would be my only change thus far. I'd recommend giving this place a try.

Stopped in for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. I'm new to the area so I had no expectations going in, but it was really good! The food was great. The servers and hosts were really nice. The chef actually came to the table to check on us and see how everything was going. The atmosphere was also really nice but a little loud due to what I assume was the lunch crowd from all the neighboring business but nothing crazy. I can definitely see myself going back to try some other things on their menu.

The food is outstanding at this restaurant. It is a little on the pricier side but well worth it. They have inside and outside dining. Each server I've had has been so delightful and explains the menu well, the chef even comes out and checks on the table.

Dead on arrival. We were very excited to try this new place. Seated right away in a newly renovated dining room and drinks were out quickly. We ordered and were enjoying our conversation and noticed it was pretty busy and the food coming out looked really good. Then we noticed tables seated after us paying their bills and leaving. Huh oh!!! We ask about our food and it shows up about five minutes later. You can see in the photo of my tacos they died in the pas for so long that the cream drained all out into the plate. And the pile of "fresh made" chips were cold and missing the pico de gallo. Yes it showed up before I took the picture. Shrimp were warm at best. We pointed this out and our server notes they were not even correctly prepared with the chipotle sauce and slaw missing. The cheeseburger was tepid and the cheese had congealed on top and you could just tell it had died in the pass too. However the fries were piping hot. Hmmmmm wonder which timings were off. The flavors were great. But temps and wait were substandard for the prices they charge. Look at the menu pics and you will see what I mean. Chef/owner? He did not say who he was, came by and we explained what we thought of the service and the timing issue. He offered to remake something but as we had been there for a bit and to be honest just too hungry to continue to wait we declined and moved on. Server was awesome though, Brittany, so if you get her know she will do all she can. Hoping this new place figures out their processes as the flavors were good even if they were off on temps. They do serve breakfast all day and the Benedict the lady at the next table ordered me looked amazing.

I wouldn't waste my time coming here again. The food was below average, and for breakfast food, that should be hard to do. The biscuits and gravy were cold as soon as they were delivered, so asked for some more hot gravy and it was delivered lukewarm. Asked for crispy bacon, it was so burnt that you couldn't eat it. The "toast" was barely toasted. Our server was good and attentive, but not worth a trip back for the over priced and underwhelming food.

This is an upscale (feeling) diner, and yes, the food is GREAT! They've been open for a few months now. The hostess was very warm and courteous. Our server (Violet) was very hospitable. The owner (Chris) actually came to our table, talked with us at length, and took pictures with us! We ordered "Hatch It Up" (built our own omelette). My wife had a Waffle (which was very light and tasty), Sausage and Eggs and Hashbrowns. The Home Fries are made from scratch daily. The coffee is very good, even the water is light and tastes very clean! We'll definitely be back again, especially since Chris, the owner, asked us to come back soon to try his Shrimp and Grits! Say less Chris!!!

A wonderful new family owned restaurant in Melbourne Florida. Beautiful interior and a large outdoor patio that is pet friendly. The food and portions were amazing. Our dog enjoyed delicious bacon and eggs. Our waitress Abi, was extremely friendly and we enjoyed talking with the owner, Chris and learning about their plans for more events and adding a happy hour in the months to come. Definitely worth checking out for breakfast or lunch.

There were 4 of us and we all enjoyed our experience from first walking in we were greeted immediately and taken to our table. We requested to sit on the patio. As we walked through the restaurant, there is a bakery/ espresso area and small gift area. We ordered the Hibiscus margaritas and they were spot on. From there we ordered the smoked wings and conch fritters both were delicious. Although, we are from Tampa home of the original"Cuban" sandwich we all decided to give theirs a try, and we were not disappointed. There are walls filled with pictures and memories of Hemingway throughout the restaurant. After dinner we had the double espresso with whipped cream and chocolate ..... and once again we were not disappointed! Hemingways Tavern is a must!

The place feels like a blend of an old Key West bar and a cozy island tavern, with warm wood, nautical touches, and Hemingway memorabilia everywhere you look. It has that relaxed island vibe where you immediately want to sit back, slow down, and enjoy the experience. The food was outstanding. We started with a couple small bites and everything came out hot and perfectly prepared. The croquetas were fantastic, crispy on the outside with a creamy, savory ham filling. The empanadas were golden and flaky with a rich filling and a great dipping sauce. For the main course I went with the Cuban sandwich, and it was excellent. Perfectly pressed bread with just the right crunch, stacked with pork, ham, Swiss, pickles, and mustard. Exactly what you hope for when ordering a Cuban. Then came dessert, which completely stole the show. The sweet plantain bread pudding was incredible. Warm, rich, and topped with whipped cream and caramel drizzle. It's one of those desserts where you keep saying "just one more bite" until it's gone. I paired it with a café con leche, which was smooth, bold, and the perfect complement to the sweetness. The service was just as impressive. Friendly, attentive, and relaxed without hovering. Drinks stayed filled, food came out quickly, and the whole meal felt easy and enjoyable. Between the great food, welcoming service, and the unique island tavern atmosphere, Hemingway's is easily one of the best dining spots in the area. If you're looking for a place with real character and fantastic food, this one is absolutely worth the visit. We'll definitely be back.

**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more Most of my fellow Yelpers know if food were categorized by a genre, breakfast and brunch has a special place in my heart. Ergo, I am on the constant search for more breakfast and brunch places to add to my repertoire. With that in mind, I must stress that Historic Downtown Melbourne a.k.a. Melbourne Main Street has an amazing number of breakfast and brunch places. But the one I admire the most is The Roots Restaurant Tavern, which I will shorthand simply to The Roots for the remainder of this review. Though an address is provided, it must be stressed The Roots is a little "off the mainstreet" of Melbourne Main Street. Just west of the train tracks, the road splits in which the northernly direction is the continuation of New Haven Ave. or the actual Melbourne Main Street. The Roots is on the southern road, right next to The Iron Oak. Take note that The Roots is quite a cozy location. On the outside, The Roots has this look of an old saloon out in the wild west. There are a few tables and chairs for outdoor seating, excellent for people-viewing while eating your meal. Inside, The Roots looks delightfully tacky with all the knick-knacks hanging around and about on the walls. Imagine how Cracker Barrel used to look before the new CEO decided the decor should be more minimalist. But my statement on how The Roots looks small from the outside definitely shows when you are inside, too. The place is small. They definitely utilize the space as best they could, with large party seating being in the back for only one party. Still, take note of this limitation. My waitresses were very kind and attentive when serving me. But I am sure you all want to know about the food. The times I have eaten here, I have had three meals: The Eggs Benny Flight, and Pancake Flight, and Shrimp n' Grits. I will detail each in the pictures of food (if I have them), but I will say that everything here was delicious. My one lone criticism is that some of these flights are best enjoyed with another, not by yourself. On a sidenote, the restroom is clean and stocked, but there is only one and it is unisex. As I said earlier, The Roots is the best breakfast and brunch restaurant, well for me, in Historic Downtown Melbourne. So it is understandable why I am giving them a five-out-of-five stars for their review. Food, service, and ambiance are all excellent and the issues are way too minimal for me to consider them having any major affect. If you are ever going to eat at The Roots only once. My suggestion are the flights. Either eggs bennies, pancakes, or mimosas, you can't go wrong with any of them.
