Quarterly, we made sure to spruce up the flowers and clean up the stone a bit. Additionally, my dad would periodically take me to visit his brother's grave, though with the nature of his passing, it was always a harder visit. Sadly, as the years have passed, more of my family reside here. My Nanny passed very suddenly. Cancer diagnosis on a Wednesday and passed on a Friday. In 2006, the family found themselves quickly making accommodations that were unexpected. My grandpa said it was a pretty easy process, and he appreciated being able to future purchase to be buried with her. This made it incredibly easy when he would pass 8 years later as my aunt would take care of those accommodations without the financial burden. As for pricing, we all know it is not cheap to do so though I've heard it's fairly comparable to the surrounding area. The grounds have been well kept the last thirty years that I've frequented here, and my family has continued to chose this location as their final resting place. Thank you Mountain View for all you do to honor our loved ones!

There's only so much that you can really say about a cemetery/funeral home, right?…read more Well..... The grounds are well kept, there is plenty of parking, and most of the staff is very compassionate and friendly. I will mention that one receptionist in particular was very rude to my mother when we arrived. My Mom began to make her way toward the service we were attending and the woman at the front desk was very snippy with my Mom and told her not to go near the room where the service was being held. She said "It's not ready yet, the family is still setting up!!" My mom asked if she could just sit on the chairs outside the chapel and wait for them to finish setting up, the lady said "NO" with lots of attitude and frustration. I was completely beside myself on that type of behavior! So we sat in the front lobby on the chairs provided. There are 4 chairs in the main lobby, which suited our needs. Just when I thought I had already seen it all, the same woman gets up from her desk and storms over to the chapel area where the service would be held.... Muttering under her breath, walking briskly, and pulls the doors closed... Then continues back to her desk to sit down. I'm not sure if this is her normal behavior, but it could be argued that her personality type doesn't exactly jive with the typical crowd that attend a funeral home.... They also offer water bottles to guests & have a snack machine in the lobby. There are several rooms available for funeral services, which are spacious and comfortable. I will say that I was surprised to see that the pews are not bolted into the floor... I used the back of the pew to help myself up after a service & it disturbed the bench in front of me... That was embarrassing. All in all, the place is exactly what you'd expect. Aside from the rude woman that greets you as you enter the building. We have many relatives that are buried here & others that have been cremated. Aside from Fridays experience, I have never had a complaint about my encounters here.

While we already had a mortuary in mind, we had no idea which cemetery to use. I set up a bunch of meetings and planned visits within the days right after my mother had passed, and I was quite disappointed with most of those we visited. I experienced poor customer service, a cemetery that didn't see very well kept, an inconvenient place to visit or some other issue. When I came across Paradise Memorial Gardens, I was extremely pleased with how well they communicated, their excellent customer service, and the layout and ease of visiting the cemetery. I had reached out to Dan and quickly heard back from him. I had told him what exactly we were looking for in terms of a location, stone, and service, and he certainly rose to the occasion to ensure that we had the date and time of the funeral and later an unveiling. He explained the prices and answered many questions that my family members and I had asked. Dan was responsive whether we were connecting right before the funeral or in the months that followed when planning an unveiling. For such a stressful time, I was pleased to have someone we made a connection with to reach out to. The actual Paradise Memorial Gardens cemetery is laid out nicely. Instead of other cemeteries where stones are all sticking up out of the ground, many of the stones are flat on the ground where they blend in with the nature. My mother's stone is near a big tree, which provides some shade when I visit her in hotter months. There is a small lake where swans and Canadian geese like to roam. For an interesting story, ask the staff about the swans. There is also a heated and air-conditioned mausoleum onsite which I had been in only once when a friend passed away a number of years ago. There is plenty of parking on the side of the single street that circles the site. There are two entrances, one off of Shea Blvd and the other off 92nd Street. While I didn't use them, I heard good things about the Messinger Mortuaries, which is directly tied to the Paradise Memorial Gardens. I certainly encourage anyone looking for a cemetery (and possibly a mortuary) to check them out.

I feel like Mom and I were on auto pilot those 6 days whilst preparing his visitation and funeral. We couldn't have asked for better humans to guide us through this process. I don't remember the man's name that came and got my father that evening but he was lovely, so respectful of my father and of us. Then we met with James at Messinger and Mom and I felt the same way about him. Everything explained in such detail, calm and soothing way about him. The men that were at the visitation at the door were lovely and they drove my Daddy to both the church and cemetery. Dwight and Dan at PMG have been such a delight to work with. It took Mom and I a minute (or 2 1/2 months) to go back to order his marker... but that too was done with ease. Dwight even came and said hello to us. They kinda feel like family. This is the hardest experience I have gone through to date and having these guys walking this walk with us was honestly such a blessing. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. My Dad would be extremely grateful at how you all took such gentle and loving care of Mom and I.

My Mom's death caught us by surprise and a family member recommended Angel's. I would use Angel's again for the cremation. They didn't try to sell me on anything, and because of that, I was so touched that they made no attempt to take advantage of me in a time of sadness and vulnerability, so to show my support, I wanted to give them as much of the related-details business as possible, even though they were long distance from my home. The urn is from Angel's, and a soft, exquisite set of blank memorial cards that includes guest book and thank you cards was purchased from them as well. Everything was fine until they printed the cards, and there were a good number of deficiencies. For the printed memorial cards, they get 1 or 2 stars maximum. If I were to really go into detail, picky point by picky point, it would be lengthy, so I will limit my dissatisfaction to a few highlights, starting with Angel's reaction about errors that were beyond question, such as an entire line missing on the inner-left top on 50 of the 100 cards. Their response was that it was unfortunate but there was nothing they could do about it! When I held them to account, I was further told that I was the only person who had ever complained. Initially, before the cards were ever printed, I "complained" about Angel's name and address being on the bottom of the back page of the proof. They said that was normal and that no one else had ever complained about it. When they sent a revised proof, their name and address was still there, so I explicitly said that if they insisted on it being there, the lettering needed to be very tiny. On the finished, printed card, they had neither removed it nor decreased the font size as i requested. It is an eyesore and needlessly interferes with the back of the card. It is visually offensive. The quality of the ink was also low saturation. It doesn't even look to be medium, probably to save on ink. Much of the spacing on the card was poor, both top and bottom and in-between. This was quite simply the poorest important print job I have ever seen (so you see, I talk in superlatives, too). And, of course, according to them, I will have been the only person to express this sentiment in all of their years of business; translation: the problem was me. I could be very specific about the memorial cards in other ways. By my definition and expectations, the printed cards were not only a disappointment, they were a train wreck. However, everything else about dealing with Angel's was good, better than good, and except for the memorial cards (that I recommend be printed elsewhere, if you are visually exacting about spacing and details, ink density, etc., as I am, without apology btw), Angel's was an awesome place that showed compassion and dependability. Memorial cards are a comparatively small thing, especially when taking into account the amount I saved up front on the cremation. I am already meeting with the local newspaper and will have new memorial cards printed professionally by them, and they WILL be beautifully done, because nothing less will be acceptable. I happen to have a lot of time to get this done because my Mom died when the coronavirus was ramping up, so we had to postpone everything. People don't usually have time to be picky and must hope for/assume a satisfactory initial outcome, so choose carefully. In the past, I have tended toward deleting critical reviews later, and may do so here as well. I mean, how important IS a memorial card, the way it turns out? Right now, it seems extraordinarily important to me, maybe because we never got to have a gathering to officially say goodbye. Updatr: it is three days later and my saw the cards. we are making memorial packets to send out to family members. he agreed that the cards are in poor taste generally, and the advertising on the back-bottom, espeically since we used the back bottom for Mom, is tasteless, and we cannot use these cards, will have new, tasteful ones printed to send with the packets. my son is considerably easier to please than i am. i could include a picture of the card, and their advertising, and how terrible it looks, which was only one of the problems with the cards, but i won't do because of the situation.

We were charged an additional $60, which we were willing to pay because of how important these prints were to us. Unfortunately, when we received them, one fingerprint was missing and none of the prints were labeled to identify which finger they came from. When I called for clarification, I was told that they simply take prints from each finger to see which one turns out best. This process should have been clearly explained beforehand. Had we known the fingerprints would not be labeled--or that we might not receive all ten--we would have requested otherwise. Because my mom has already been cremated, this cannot be corrected. Our family is now left not knowing which fingerprint belongs to which finger, taking away an important part of the meaning behind the tattoo. For something so personal and permanent, families deserve clear communication and careful attention to detail.
