Since the early 1990s, I've been visiting this cemetery to visit the gravesite of my grandma with my grandad. Quarterly, we made sure to spruce up the flowers and clean up the stone a bit. Additionally, my dad would periodically take me to visit his brother's grave, though with the nature of his passing, it was always a harder visit. Sadly, as the years have passed, more of my family reside here. My Nanny passed very suddenly. Cancer diagnosis on a Wednesday and passed on a Friday. In 2006, the family found themselves quickly making accommodations that were unexpected. My grandpa said it was a pretty easy process, and he appreciated being able to future purchase to be buried with her. This made it incredibly easy when he would pass 8 years later as my aunt would take care of those accommodations without the financial burden. As for pricing, we all know it is not cheap to do so though I've heard it's fairly comparable to the surrounding area. The grounds have been well kept the last thirty years that I've frequented here, and my family has continued to chose this location as their final resting place. There's only so much that you can really say about a cemetery/funeral home, right? Well..... The grounds are well kept, there is plenty of parking, and most of the staff is very compassionate and friendly. I will mention that one receptionist in particular was very rude to my mother when we arrived. My Mom began to make her way toward the service we were attending and the woman at the front desk was very snippy with my Mom and told her not to go near the room where the service was being held. She said "It's not ready yet, the family is still setting up!!" My mom asked if she could just sit on the chairs outside the chapel and wait for them to finish setting up, the lady said "NO" with lots of attitude and frustration. I was completely beside myself on that type of behavior! So we sat in the front lobby on the chairs provided. There are 4 chairs in the main lobby, which suited our needs. Just when I thought I had already seen it all, the same woman gets up from her desk and storms over to the chapel area where the service would be held.... Muttering under her breath, walking briskly, and pulls the doors closed... Then continues back to her desk to sit down. I'm not sure if this is her normal behavior, but it could be argued that her personality type doesn't exactly jive with the typical crowd that attend a funeral home.... They also offer water bottles to guests & have a snack machine in the lobby. There are several rooms available for funeral services, which are spacious and comfortable. I will say that I was surprised to see that the pews are not bolted into the floor... I used the back of the pew to help myself up after a service & it disturbed the bench in front of me... That was embarrassing. All in all, the place is exactly what you'd expect. Aside from the rude woman that greets you as you enter the building. We have many relatives that are buried here & others that have been cremated. Aside from Fridays experience, I have never had a complaint about my encounters here. read more

I am extremely disappointment and distress regarding the services provided by this company during a time of utmost sorrow for my family and me following the passing of my husband. We ordered prayer cards, and I had to call or email every week to make sure they were getting done. I did not receive the prayer cards until the after before the day of the service. We also asked for the finger print of my late husband. And instead of receiving nice presentation they Xerox copied his finger and gave me a copy. Then with the death certificates I called every week for 5 1/2 weeks and they always told me it would be that week we will call you. They never called, finally I made them call the vital records come to find out the mortuary never sent the information and had to send the info to them after that it took 1 day to get my death certificates. read more

My mom was laid to rest here in 2002. I've been visiting for a long time and always have noticed how well kept even after all these years this cemetery is . Very respectful of those interned for eternity. We decided to add some upgrades to my moms crypt and signed up for the 3x a year flower placement since i live in another state . My POS sister isn't even taking care of our mother in death which doesn't surprise me. I appreciate the compassion shown by Spencer when making theses decisions . I didn't feel any pressure to buy anything I didn't want . The crucifix will be a beautiful addition to my moms crypt and new flowers for specific holidays makes me feel bette being away, and they will send photos when the crucifix is installed . My husband and I had not planned to make funeral arrangements. my husband passed away in 2020. my sister in law had him cremated with out my knowledge! on august 4th 2020 i was told my husband had passed after surgery. 2 days later i went to claim his body. and was told his body was sent to mountain view funeral home. i made arrangements with the owner, to have a viewing for my family! we had already payed for the services, and were told to come back the next day for the viewing i had the worst experience in my life!! . the owner screamed at me in front of my children! my husband was gone! they cremated his body that same afternoon i had spoke to her!! a few days later i went to pick up his ashes. she refused to give them to me! i had to file a court order, only then did she give me back what was left of my husbands remains. the experince was very traumatic to my children and i. not only did we just lose the head of our family! i had the owners of this place verbally abuse me in front of my children. after such a tragic loss. please do better! no one deserves to be treated like this ever! i did meet a very nice employee. she was kind to me over the phone. read more

Of course I couldn't say that in my original review because the event was for his 50th birthday, and I wanted it to be a surprise. And it definitely was a wonderful surprise! Below is my updated follow-up review. I hosted a Celebration of Life Ceremony for my Husband at Mountain View Funeral home this past weekend. 10/30/21. It turned out to be the most beautiful event; better than I had hoped. Thank you so much to the Mountain View funeral home staff. Especially Shane and Hilary. Everyone who attended the ceremony was not only blown away by the ceremony itself, but with all those who helped bring it altogether so seamlessly. Shane and Hilary helped me create the most wonderful and memorable celebration of life event far beyond my original vision. I can not thank them enough for their trust in my idea and for all of their assistance (for almost a month) to make it happen. They were flexible, always available to answer my questions and helped to create a ceremony that was catered specifically to my husband's fun and unique personality. Planning a funeral, or Celebration of Life ceremony can be a difficult time, but having a team of professional experts there to help guide you along every step of the process makes it so much easier to handle. My Celebration of Life Ceremony was unique because I planned and hosted it for my husband while he is still alive... He was actually present for it and was able to laugh, cry and enjoy all the lovely stories, jokes and memories right along with our friends and family. He cried during some of it. No one, of course likes writing reviews on businesses like these, but it's still a business and in the end a very much appreciated business. This family owned and operated funeral home and cemetery is very personable, caring and peaceful. I know this funeral home and cemetery well for I unfortunately have been to a few services here. Yesterday we celebrated the remembrance of my aunt at this funeral home. The facility is very nice and peaceful, it has a small calming fountain out front when you first walk in, spacious hallways for family members to gather and the actual chapel where the ceremonies are held is very pleasant. They have all the updated technology needed for slide shows and music for the ceremony, the staff is very friendly and professional and the atmosphere most importantly is calm. The cemetery itself is very serene with beautiful grass, luscious trees, fountains, benches and beautiful columbariums. Each time I come here to visit a friend or family member I am very pleased that there are never any problems. The grounds are kept tidy, headstones are always cleaned, you are allowed to decorate the headstones and trees around your loved ones site. This funeral home and cemetery treat you and your family as if you are a family member of their own. It's nice to know that your loved ones resting place is being taken care of at all times. In the unfortunate event that you yourself have to say goodbye to someone, I would definitely recommend meeting with staff from Mountain View, they do make the process a little easier and it gives you peace of mind knowing your loved ones resting place is beautiful and tranquil at all times. read more

As the saying goes, "getting older isn't for the faint of heart," and with age comes health issues and now, I don't want to say we're paranoid but we have to be realistic, the threat of covid. Also, my husband and I, in our 60s, have had relatives and close friends pass and we've seen the stress it creates for the children and family left behind. We decided it would be wise to purchase a "Pre-need," just in case. By doing so, our wishes will be followed and there will be no cost to our children (we are a blended family) and not fighting over who wants what done with us or for us. We called Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery and happened to get the owner, Gregory Coury, on the phone. He offered to meet with us to discuss the arrangements and show us the available plots. I have to say, Mr. Coury has a natural compassion to his personality. He put us at ease and made us feel very comfortable with what can be an apprehensive process. The funeral home has a serene atmosphere and the grounds are well maintained and beautiful. Mr. Coury discussed the updates he is making to the grounds which will only enhance the tranquility of our final resting place. They have a wide selection of beautiful caskets and urns. I will be cremated, my husband buried but we will both be in the same plot. A copy of our particulars will be placed on file so our children won't have to worry about not knowing what we would like. I appreciate that it will be the way we want it, no stress to anyone, including me or him. And for a funeral and burial and in my case, a cremation, the prices were reasonable. We also purchased transportation insurance which would pay to have our bodies brought back to Mesa if we are away from home...even abroad. I thought going into the process that I would be nervous to even speak about my own funeral arrangements but as I previously stated, Mr. Coury made us comfortable and I actually enjoyed selecting my urn and the plot. I was even able to add a little levity to the time we spent making our arrangements; afterall, it should be a pleasant experience...no one is dead yet. I am now at ease and actually relieved that we purchased our "Pre-Need," and I am very happy to have selected Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery for our final resting place. read more

I've used Mountain View twice. Once for my daughters infant son and again for my daughter and her boyfriend 15 months later after they were killed in an auto accident. I found them to be nothing but compassionate, willing to work with you, and to make this time easier. They worked with me on the monument, the burial location in their Cemetary, and the disinterment of my grandson so that his body could be reinterred in the same site as the ashes of his mother and father. They never said we could't do something and found ways to do jt within the limits of the law and their internal rules. We have a beautiful monument, the family is together in death. Their Cemetary is without a doubt the best kept of any Cemetary and everyone interred seems to be remembered with artificial bouquets and spinners near their marker. No other Cemetary I've used allows flowers to be placed and kept except briefly during holidays. read more

We recently found ourselves using the services of this fantastic facility when my wife's grandmother died. Steve and his team made a tragic event far less stressful. They had answers to all of our questions, and even answered questions we didn't know to ask. They walked us through some difficult paperwork and treated everyone in the family with the utmost respect and care. I would absolutely recommend Mountain View to anyone dealing with the loss of a friend or family member. REGARDING THE NEGATIVE POSTS: I have seen a couple people on here misrepresenting the pumpkin patch and Trunk or Treat events. I talked to the management about this, and they clarified it for me that there WAS NOT going to be any events happening in the burial areas, only in the common areas, and that this event in previous years has drawn a lot of people to get free pumpkins. They decided to expand the event this year to add the Trunk or Treat in order to give families a safer option to regular Halloween activities for their kids. I think the people who are misrepresenting this should consider that this is something positive for the community, rather than trying to use the memory of their departed loved ones to make a social statement. read more

More than 20 years ago my dad passed suddenly and I picked this cemetery off a list given to me by a Social Worker. I had such a good experience, I bought something there for myself, and also for my mother in anticipation of her "time." They were wonderful to me when my mom passed. I've attended Memorial Day services and also a Christmastime memorium. Everything has been handled with dignity and grace. I was shocked to see other posts regarding Halloween activities on this property! The thought of people trampling across my loved ones' graves makes me shudder, so I hope this isn't true. We used Mountain View for the services for my mom in Nov. 2018, and we worked primarily with Don. We were very pleased with the respectful, patient, and considerate care he provided. There was no hard sell; he listened to what we wanted and made it happen. He even met with us for our initial meeting for four hours on a Sunday on short notice, and he was reachable by email and cell throughout the funeral planning week. We had a few family traditions that are perhaps a bit unfamiliar to some, but this did not trouble Don. We also needed burial at the National Cemetery, and Don facilitated that quite nicely. This is "touchy" subject for anyone and everyone. However, after meeting with Leah and learning about their advanced planning services, my husband and I are at great ease. We are happy to know someone so trusted, honest and patient to be able to help us when our time of need arises. On Memorial Day my grandmother passed away. She had paid and made pre-arrangements thru Superstition Springs Mortuary approx. three years ago. Mountain View has since taken over the business from Superstition Springs Mortuary. Her body was taken to S. S. M., and that afternoon Mountain View contacted me to have me come in for the arrangements. Evidently as Mountain View took over the business Pre-arrangement files were lost or never turned over. Mountain View had no paper work on my grandmothers arrangments and put the burden of proof onto my family. This was a very difficult time as you would expect, and my grandmother was a snow-bird, so the family was having to search two homes for paper work. My aunt had been with my grandmother when she had made this substantial purchase. Mountain View personal told me that "older people get confused and think they have done things that they may not have". All we were asking for was a cremation. Evidently, Mountain View personal and owners don't believe if you buy, take over or how ever you get a business, one certainly doesn't have to take on the bad with the good. I have checked and records are to be retained by a Funeral Home. This was not the case. I also, have checked around and found my family is not the only family this has happened to with this changing of hands. We had my grandmothers body moved to another Funeral Service. We still had to pay $325 for Mnt. View transferring my grandmother from home to their facility. I would strongly suggest not using this Funeral Home, they are in the business for their own mighty dollar with no care to what family and love ones are experiencing. Their fees are outragous compared to the company we transferred my grandmothers body to. I dont expect an apology, because in Mtn. Views simple minds they are not responsible.The only reason there is one star on this review is due to Yelps rating that I could not write a review without a star. read more
