This mortuary is absolutely unethical and unprofessional. They are blatantly violating Arizona law by refusing to file my loved one's death certificate within the legally required 14-day period, holding it hostage for payment. Filing a death certificate is a legal obligation, not a service that can be withheld as leverage for money. Because of their negligence and greed, I've been unable to handle critical affairs related to my loved one's passing. Their lack of compassion, professionalism, and basic human decency is appalling. I have contacted Arizona Vital Records and the State Funeral Board to report their misconduct, and I strongly urge others to avoid this place at all costs. Very low budget (except for the urns, etc ) and those prices were so inflated, you could definitely do better through Amazon, or Etsy, etc. Sandy, the owner rushed us through the meeting, didn't take time with us showed no empathy for the sudden passing of our mother. She thought that since we had the paperwork already completed that we just wanted to get in and out in a hurry. Do your homework, look at the pictures of their facility through Google, of course on their website they don't have any pictures of the place. It was old and run down. PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE SENDING YOUR'E LOVED ONE HERE! My father passed away after being missing for two weeks. I called multiple funeral homes to see who was the cheapest and also to see who would treat us like we lost a loved one, not just a business transaction. I ended up picking this place because they were very nice, and they happened to also be the cheapest WHAT A MISTAKE! I was told by MULTIPLE employees that I had 21 days to make a decision on what I wanted to do with my dad whether it be cremation or burial before they started charging me extra money. I had to set up a GoFundMe "Just got laid off" and speak with my brothers to see what they wanted to do. Well, it turns out I had 21 days from the date of death to do a ceremony with him in a casket or the state would take possession of him and by the time they got him from the morgue I had 2 or 3 days to do a ceremony which I was not told so basically they robbed me and my family of ever getting to give my dad a proper ceremony and to get the closure we will now never ever get. They had totally misled me into believing I had time to figure it out. Even if we had chosen to do a cremation, we wanted to have him in the casket so I could be near him one last time before the cremation. Well because they took about 5 days to get him from the morgue even though he had been ready for days, on top of the misleading information on the time to do it, I was told that they would no longer put him in a casket and do a ceremony because the smell would be too much for people to handle. They basically forced me to do a direct cremation and then charged me full price for something I didn't want to do. If they had been honest and informed me that I only had a couple days to make a choice I would have just got a loan and rushed it to make sure we got the chance to really say goodbye. I will never get to say a goodbye or be in his physical presence ever again because of this funeral home's misinformation. These people are ALL BUSINESS and no care whatsoever. I used Angels Mortuary and Cremation on January 23, 2023, when my son suddenly and unexpectedly passed away at 46 .. I used their cremation services, and you have an option for them to take care of the Death Certificate paperwork for an additional $50.00, and as you can imagine, I was going through the most devastating time of my life, so anything to help me deal with this was accepted, so I paid the additional $50.00 for them to handle the Death Certificate, I filled out the paperwork Correctly and ordered 2 of them for $20.00 each (I thought l got 1 free, but they said No, have to pay for all of them) and asked them to double check the paperwork, because of course I was upset and not thinking very clearly.. well, when they called to tell me to pick up Death Certificates, my maiden name was spelled incorrectly, so I called them and notified them of the mistake. They said they would fix it .. called me a couple of weeks later and said the correction was made. So I waited for them to get corrected Certificates in so I could go get them.. but no one called, so I called them to check on them and was told that Sandy did not tell them to order more of them for me, but she would talk to her and call me back, when she called she said that Sandy said, if I wanted them to order the corrected death certificates they would be 20.00 each.. I was shocked by her response, so I called and talked to Sandy myself, and yes, that's what Sandy had said.. I said that They had Made the Mistake, Not Me .. Sandy Agreed that They Actually Did Make the Mistake , but , If I wanted the Corrected Death Certificates I Need to Pay 20.00 each for them..I feel the ones that I have with my maiden name spelled incorrectly are useless.. we argued, I couldn't believe it .. Sandy, the Owner, Admits to Them Making the Mistake and Are Not Going to Rectify the Situation.. Sandy said the Death Certificates that I paid for are fine and Will Not Provide corrected ones to me Unless I Pay Again.. Unbelievable! Oh yes, she said that I initialed a spot on a page with all initials boxes that said I could review something before it was sent off or something, but was not notified when to revew it either.. I dont know, but I paid 50.00 extra for them to handle the Death Certificate.. I didn't read all of it. Given the type of business this is, it is hard to type a review. I used Angels for a cremation of a family member. I was recommended by another family member. The staff was helpful on the phone, and answered all of my questions. The prices were very reasonable and there was no hard sell. If fact, there was no selling at all. There prices are posted and once I told them what I wanted, they went forward. They had downloadable forms that I could complete in the comfort of our homes. It made it easier. I have unfortunately visited several mortuaries over the years and they are generally not nice places to visit, but if you have to, it's good to go to place that gets done what you need to as efficiently as possibly. They had a lot of small personal touches, like a hand crochet Angel that they give out with the paperwork. Though I hope to never need to, I would use their services again. read more

I can't even begin to explain how horrible this place is. We waited almost 2 months for our baby's remains because they sold us an urn that was out fo stock! In stead of offering us a different urn we were forced to wait. We had a second death in the family while waiting and those remains were back to us before the baby's remains. When we called to get updates on when we could expect to hear from them they acted like we were a bother. Please avoid using Angels Cremation if you can. It is hard enough to deal with the loss of your loved without having stress, complications and aggravation that could have been avoided if Angels had good communication, follow up and customer service. My father passed on 12/13/2012 and we had Angels handle his cremation. He was to be buried in a military ceremony at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix and we let Angels know the date and time of the service. Burial morning was a nightmare because Angels did not have my father's cremains at the cemetery and they couldn't let me know if they would be on time due to some sort of paperwork delay with my father's death certificate. We were at the cemetery along with the military personnel and my father's cremains barely arrived in time for the service. The extreme stress caused by Angels Cremations at our time of grief should not have happened. As you can see by the date of my father's death, it has been 10 years since he passed and the tortuous, painful, devastating memory of this experience is still with me. In several ways, Angel's gets a 4 or a 5. Their prices are much less expensive than the large mortuaries, even less than half of our local mortuary. My Mom's death caught us by surprise and a family member recommended Angel's. I would use Angel's again for the cremation. They didn't try to sell me on anything, and because of that, I was so touched that they made no attempt to take advantage of me in a time of sadness and vulnerability, so to show my support, I wanted to give them as much of the related-details business as possible, even though they were long distance from my home. The urn is from Angel's, and a soft, exquisite set of blank memorial cards that includes guest book and thank you cards was purchased from them as well. Everything was fine until they printed the cards, and there were a good number of deficiencies. For the printed memorial cards, they get 1 or 2 stars maximum. If I were to really go into detail, picky point by picky point, it would be lengthy, so I will limit my dissatisfaction to a few highlights, starting with Angel's reaction about errors that were beyond question, such as an entire line missing on the inner-left top on 50 of the 100 cards. Their response was that it was unfortunate but there was nothing they could do about it! When I held them to account, I was further told that I was the only person who had ever complained. Initially, before the cards were ever printed, I "complained" about Angel's name and address being on the bottom of the back page of the proof. They said that was normal and that no one else had ever complained about it. When they sent a revised proof, their name and address was still there, so I explicitly said that if they insisted on it being there, the lettering needed to be very tiny. On the finished, printed card, they had neither removed it nor decreased the font size as i requested. It is an eyesore and needlessly interferes with the back of the card. It is visually offensive. The quality of the ink was also low saturation. It doesn't even look to be medium, probably to save on ink. Much of the spacing on the card was poor, both top and bottom and in-between. This was quite simply the poorest important print job I have ever seen (so you see, I talk in superlatives, too). And, of course, according to them, I will have been the only person to express this sentiment in all of their years of business; translation: the problem was me. I could be very specific about the memorial cards in other ways. By my definition and expectations, the printed cards were not only a disappointment, they were a train wreck. However, everything else about dealing with Angel's was good, better than good, and except for the memorial cards (that I recommend be printed elsewhere, if you are visually exacting about spacing and details, ink density, etc., as I am, without apology btw), Angel's was an awesome place that showed compassion and dependability. Memorial cards are a comparatively small thing, especially when taking into account the amount I saved up front on the cremation. I am already meeting with the local newspaper and will have new memorial cards printed professionally by them, and they WILL be beautifully done, because nothing less will be acceptable. I happen to have a lot of time to get this done because my Mom died when the coronavirus was ramping up, so we had to postpone everything. People don't usually have time to be picky and must hope for/assume a satisfactory initial outcome, so choose carefully. In the past, I have tended toward deleting critical reviews later, and may do so here as well. I mean, how important IS a memorial card, the way it turns out? Right now, it seems extraordinarily important to me, maybe because we never got to have a gathering to officially say goodbye. Updatr: it is three days later and my saw the cards. we are making memorial packets to send out to family members. he agreed that the cards are in poor taste generally, and the advertising on the back-bottom, espeically since we used the back bottom for Mom, is tasteless, and we cannot use these cards, will have new, tasteful ones printed to send with the packets. my son is considerably easier to please than i am. i could include a picture of the card, and their advertising, and how terrible it looks, which was only one of the problems with the cards, but i won't do because of the situation. read more

I was very frustrated and discusted by the time, hopefully this is completed. If there was a zero symbol, it would be with Angels Cremation and Burial. I have a patient that had her partner passed away. They were a gay couple, married for 8 years in the state of California, had all their paperwork- will and making her partner executor of her estate,, for she had NO living family. They came to Arizona to receive medical treatment and had all the paperwork on hand in case her partner should pass. The partner called Angels Cremation and Burial (recommended by Hospice) and made plans to pick up the body . After the body was in the possession of Angels Cremation and Burial she was told that her legal paper work would not be honored because she was not a family member and that Arizona does not recognize their rights, despite having the appropriate legal paperwork. Angels Cremation and Burial told her this AFTER they took her body, and took her body knowing they were a gay couple. She was told by the director of Angel's Cremation and Burials that she would have to wait 15 days (the max aloud by law before the body becomes a health hazard and MUST dispose of) AND PAY the storage fee to see if any family member would claim her body! THERE WAS NO LIVING FAMILY- THUS THE LEGAL PAPERWORK...Apparently, directors of funeral homes are able to use their "discretion" in determining things like this- such as if they are going to honor legal paperwork, hold a body and how and when a body should be disposed of. In this case, the "discretion" of the director of Angels Cremation and Burial was to hold the body and to charge her partner daily for 15 days until by law they'd have to dispose of it. Angels Cremation and Burial told the surviving partner that they contacted the State of Arizona Board of Funeral Directors and were that the state agreed with them and that they should hold the body despite having the paperwork. When the surviving partner called the AZ State Board of Funeral Directors, he was outraged because he never spoke to the director of Angels Cremation and Burial. Angels Cremation and Burial flat out lied to this woman! Thankfully, after contacting another mortuary, they came and picked up the body immediately from Angels Cremation and Burial and dealt with the situation appropriately. Angels Cremation and Burial has NO compassion, NO respect and feel that they can do what they please because the family members are in grief. I hope with this review, that nobody else will have to go through such stress. This is not a gay or straight issue. It is a dignity and respect issue. It is disgusting that Angels Cremation and Burial would use a couple's sexuality against them in order to make a buck. The women also contacted Hospice and they will not be referring them again. We used Angel's for both my mother-in-law and father-in-law and found the staff to be nothing short of compassionate. I recently took my mother-in-law's ashes back to them so that they could be divided (with an urn I purchased elsewhere). They divided the ashes immediately, for $10, which I am not even sure I actually paid. On my way out, I mentioned we would be going on an airplane and they insisted on re-doing their work (separating the ashes from the urn, making it easier to get through security) and provided me a lot of useful information. They could have easily just allowed me to leave, but they were cared about making the traveling experience as easy and hassle free as possible. The environment is peaceful and the staff was calming. It is not a fancy place, but it is small and quaint and it was nice to not a financial burden on top of losing both of my huband's parent within the same year. I accompanied my stepmother to this business after my father died. While making the arrangements we discovered my fathers body would have to be transported (for an extra fee) to Flagstaff for cremation if we wanted to get his remains back in fewer than three weeks. While this was annoying, as we could not plan funeral services, it was no more annoying than the condescending attitude the staff displayed to my stepmom. The woman assisting us had the worst fake compassion I have ever seen. She clearly had somewhere else to be. This continued through the entire period of dealing with this place - phone calls did not get returned, little communication on their part. My husband always told me what to do in case he died. He told me that everything was paid for, wrote down with the receipt & contract in the safe. He told all his friends he paid for his cremation & all I had to do was call Sandy at Angel's Cremation. His mother was with him & witnessed him paying $960.00 But, Sandy said it Was Not receipt after he died. The receipt has Sandy's signature next to my deceased husband's signature for PAID. Wow. This is sad. It appears we are not the only family that has been victimized by Angel Cremation and Burial. In our case they agreed to take a thumb print of our deceased family member before his cremation should we want to purchase a gold charm of that thumb print. When we later decided not to purchase the charm they refused to present the family with the thumb print or a copy of it. The company that makes the charms was contacted and it turns out they never received the thumb print and were appalled that anyone would refuse a loved ones request that they be given their own family members print. It is sickening to think that someone would hold a person's finger print hostage until a family member buys a charm and they make a cut of the purchase. Now we don't know if the print was even taken and if it even exists. The family is devastated as the body has been cremated. read more

Beware!! Do not have your loved one shipped with angels. I received my father's ashes smashed and leaking out of the box. I sent them pictures because I felt they wrapped him poorly, only covered in paper! They did not care, only stated they didn't pack him that way, and that's not the way they do things. Not one apology, only pointing blame elsewhere. Unbelievable!! Caused much more heartache at the thought that part of my father was carelessly spread through the mail for days I was promised a call from the owner, which never came! Also was charged $175 for shipping. Postage on the package says $118. For the extra $57, maybe they could have afforded some bubble wrap??? When I first brought this to their attention, just after receiving him friday morning, i was told they sent him in a carboard box inside another box with packing peanuts. This was also false, because my father came inside a plastic box with paper around him. If she could mistake what he was sent in, how could she not mistake what they wrapped him in? Confusing. My dad passed a few years ago on Christmas. They were highly recommended by Mesa Police. I understand it's Christmas and the holidays and things tend to go a little slower. It's harder to get death certificates signed etc. My dad wanted cremation and the basics of the basic. Nothing else. He was on ice for 2 weeks before they could do the cremation due to holidays which is understandable. What I didn't like was the woman who helped us. Just not compassionate or caring at all. At one point during our meeting it took everything in me not to get up and walk out. Just not nice. I don't recall her name but it's enough that I wouldn't use this place again nor recommend it. But due to the holiday situation we didn't have many choices. A year later they contacted my mom to let her know they had an ornament on their tree with his name on it and she could come pick it up. She didn't want to and asked me to and I didn't. Why would anyone ever want to go back there? Just a bizarre thing to do. This place was recommended to my mother and myself after I lost my son on March 17, 2020. In fact they came highly recommended, and we did not hesitate. Everything seemed to be going smoothly and office staff were very friendly; then there was a clerical error made in the spelling of my son's middle name, which was not realized until receiving the actual death certificates. This was not due to me! I thought maybe it was AZ Vital Records and Statistics...no, it was not on them...last place it could only be was with the mortuary. They agreed to take ownership of their wrongdoing and would send a letter with the correction to AZ Vital Rec/Stat. My mother and I thought everything was handled... until we received a call from AZ Vital Rec/Stat informing us that Angels refused payment of death certificates for which they were at fault. Called Angels, spoke with the owner Sandy, who told my mother it was due to my signing of documents that freed them from financial obligation, and then turned around and told me it was due to my mother signing the death certificate, which claims that everything was complete and correct as it appeared. Therefore, she would not be paying for anything. Originally, my mother purchased 5 certificates, and we were only asking for repayment of 3 and the shipping fee, which was letting her and her company off easy! I will not send anyone to this place, or to her at all in the future! I do not care how long she has been in the business, or if it has been a family run business... she has no business running it now. This is a mixed review, but it's important to be critical with this particular type of service. After all, if you're unlucky you'll only have to bury a loved one, once. If you're really unlucky, you'll have maybe a couple of experiences with it, like I have. Sandy was awesome, in really being genuinely understanding and thoughtful and efficient. The part that I think needs to improve for the business as a whole, is communication with related cemeteries that their customers may use, and feedback to their customers with the progress of things. Where they can shine is making sure once a customer agrees to and pays for a service, that the customer doesn't have to chase down and figure out, amidst his or her grief, where the body is, and why isn't it where it's expected to be. Now there may be legitimate reasons for the unexpected, but whatever the reasons, it should be quickly determined, communicated, and resolved "for" the customer where appropriate. In fairness, this is also on the cemeteries too, to make sure things go as smoothly a possible. I'd use Angels Cremation and Burials again though, and Sandy is the reason. read more
