My family recently held the viewing for my brother, Dan Haney, at Bunker Family Funeral Home, and I cannot express enough how grateful we are for their outstanding services. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a peaceful and calm atmosphere that helped us feel at ease during such a difficult time. The space was very white/beige/gold but felt like a blank canvas, ready to become whatever we needed it to be. The facility was immaculate, and each room was well-organized and ready for our use. The professionalism of Kelly, our funeral director, was unparalleled, and I appreciate his commitment to fairness for every family member involved. Everyone was extremely empathetic, even when my morbid family started cracking jokes and laughing. I apologize if we shocked anyone - grief is weird. Kelly's explanations of the viewing and cremation arrangements were clear, and he was very patient when my parents struggled to remember or understand through the haze of grief. He even calmly handled my mother when she misunderstood what he said about some pricing. There was a fair selection of caskets, liners, urns, guestbooks, and keepsakes in a variety of price points. I also liked that all the choices were showcased in a single room so many decisions could be made from one spot. The viewing room was lovely with its windows and high ceilings that prevented it from feeling crowded, even when we had a crowd. There was a projection screen and equipment that allowed me to play a video of my pictures from my brother's life, which people really seemed to enjoy seeing. It was also played on a screen in the lobby, which somehow made people cry when they watched it. This amazing funeral home absolutely accommodated my unusual request for my brother's ashes, which fulfilled one final brother/sister joke that meant a lot to both me and my dad. They were also willing to livestream the viewing for us, something that is usually only requested for funeral services. Highly worth the added cost, and his friends and family abroad were extremely grateful. All arrangements were carried out as planned and in a timely manner. We were even allowed to make a few changes as we went along through the process. I just really appreciate Kelly and the staff's ability to roll with the punches and go with the flow as different "characters" showed up. I highly recommend Bunker Family Funeral Home for an easy and transparent funeral or viewing experience. A close friend of mine passed away last year and as a gift for the family, and in lieu of flowers, I chose to create a picture memorial to be shared during the services, before and after. Well, WHAT A WASTE of time! When I arrived early to the services, I was extremly disapointed that becasue the servies were during the day, no one, not a soul, could see the screen with the pictures. Why on earth didn't the folks at Bunker's tell us in advance that this would be a problem? And don't tell me that we were the first family to show a memorial on the sreen at that time of day? The daughter of my friend mentioned this to the Bunker folks after the services, and all they said, Yes, this happens during this time of day and they could do nothing about it." So those of you thinking about having your services during the day, don't bother to create a photo memorial....no one will be able to see it! And don't ask them to do it as it would be money thrown down the draini! At the very least, there should have been a formal apology to the family or a price reduction of some small amount as a good gesture. read more

We were guided here by advice of local family and connections who let us know that they have a service familiar with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints beliefs and practices, which was true as they guided us through the arrangements and preparations consistent with our family faith. They took great care of Dad with respect and accommodated all the needs and requests of the viewing, services, and burial without an obvious hitch, for a flat fee. When life throws you a sudden and terrible blow, you want a funeral home like this to guide you through the process and allow you to grieve with your family. My father unexpectedly passed away on the Fourth of July. Friends had referred us to Bunker Family Funeral Homes. The service that we received at Bunker was exceptional. When the nurse called Bunker to pick up my Father, they arrived quickly and were sensitive to the fact that my mother, sister, and I were still in shock. As soon as they heard that he was a veteran, they made sure to put a special flag blanket over him. It was a small thing, but it gave us a great deal of comfort and I know that my father appreciated it. When we went to make the arrangements the next day, we were helped by Katie. She was very sensitive and we appreciated the fact that there was no attempt at a hard sell. She methodically laid out the options. My sister was impressed by the fact that pricing was posted on the website for all of the services. When the total for the bill was added up, I was surprised by the price. I had thought that the figure they were quoting was the down payment, not the full cost. It was much lower than we were expecting. On the day of the service, everything went off without a hitch. Katie and the rest of the staff ensured that my father had the great service that he deserved. I can't say enough about the quality of service that we got from Bunker Family Funeral Homes. What did we get ourselves Into... My father passed away on January 12, being that Randy Bunker was a good friend to both my father & sister we never thought of any other place but the Bunkers to have our father cremated with. My father had eight children, three of which do not live in Arizona nor have a significantly close relationship with him. Being advised prior to meet with Karoline my youngest sister had been advised all 8 of us had to sign off on my dads cremation. We met with Karoline on Tuesday 01/16/2018. PROVIDED PROOF we reached out to the three that were not located in Arizona. We at that time were told by Karoline per the General Manager Steve the proof in which we provided stated it was acceptable, and Karoline advised us we were good to move forward. On Wednesday January 24 2018 my sister then reached out to Karoline asking where we were at in the process because we were to have a service on January 27. My siblings were then called liars by Karoline, she was rude & disrespectful to an already grieving family. We paid just over $4000 and our money was now being held hostage as we attempted to move our father and advised us they would only return to us $700! It left us no choice but to leave my fathers body with the Bunkers. We reached out again to our siblings in PA as requested by Karoline & Steve and they grilled them with questions when they called because after they told us calls would be ok they said it wasn't because they couldn't TRUST that we wouldn't have random people call in! How dare you accuse us of such a thing. How dare you put an already grieving family through even more than the unanticipated death of our father. We will NEVER recommend the Bunker family Funeral home to ANYONE and we will make sure Everyone we knows what you have put us through. My son Andrew passed away 3 weeks ago at 19 years old. We contacted Bunker Family Funerals & Cremation for help with all of the details. Allen Wolford met us at the door with a calm comforting smile and demeanor. I am still at a loss for words. Allen guided us through the process with ease, his compassion and understanding of our needs and desires was evident, and still is. When discussing cemeteries and our desires for Andrews final resting place, Allen involved other members of the Bunker Family Business to provide all of the options we sought. Upon reaching a decision on the cemetery, Allen immediately arranged for an appointment with a planning specialist at Mountain View Cemetery in Mesa. The coordination of planning was seamless, thanks to Allen's devotion and desire to accommodate our families needs. The day of the service, Allen and his team arrived with my son and had set up the Chapel well before any of the family and friends arrived. I hadn't been able to see my son for over a month prior to his passing due to work circumstances, Allen was sensitive to this and briefed me on the process of the day. He guided me into the room where the viewing would be, opened the casket and put his hand gently on my shoulder for a moment and left the room closing the doors to give me a moment alone with my son. After the viewing, Allen asked me to come help in closing the casket- it was an honor- and these are the small details that meant the world to me. It was intuitive to him. My words cannot express my gratitude for his care of my son and my family through all of this. The ceremony was beautiful and well organized by many. A few days afterward I received a phone call from Bunker Family Funerals & Cremation that my sons death certificate was prepared and available for pickup. I went in the next day and saw Allen. He asked if I had been at my sons graveside the morning prior- I had been. He mentioned that he stopped by just to check in on things and saw me there, but didn't want to disturb me. I felt the genuine care Allen has, his desire and love of his work. I hope I don't have many funerals to arrange in the future but I know Allen and Bunker Family Funerals & Cremation have the best interests of the families involved. They helped us find the most affordable and comforting place of rest for my son. I would recommend them to all. Compassion and care has been felt by Allen and his team. We were introduced to Bunker when our dad unexpectedly passed away. Our mother had just entered hospice care the week prior to Dad's passing. We kids had been gearing up to learn how we could assist Dad. Naturally, all of our focus had turned to Mom and getting her through her hospice journey. Sadly, we never got to assemble and see how we could assist, as Dad had passed the morning we had planned to meet. We were suddenly left not knowing how to take care of Mom and now having to plan a funeral for Dad. Enter Bunker Family Funerals. Ric was awesome! I don't think we could have asked for a better coordinator. One call from him and we had felt like our favorite Uncle had reached out, taken us by the hand and helped us through this horrific ordeal. The prices for different options were explained very well, all of our questions were answered and we never felt pressured about any details or choices we made. Considering the circumstances, the planning of Dad's funeral couldn't have been any easier. Once the day of Dad's funeral arrived there was a last minute snafu with the military honors (no fault of Bunker's) but Ric worked diligently to find alternate arrangements in a hurry. Nonetheless, we were happy with Dad's service...so...when Mom passed 12 days later, we called Bunker and once again they took care of everything. Thanks to Ric and the team at Bunker, a truly unimaginable life event was easier to navigate. We kids will be forever grateful. read more
