I usually don't write reviews but our experience was the "worst" and most unprofessional experience we have ever had. When we met with this mortuary they were cold and unprofessional. It took us almost two weeks to get our father's ashes. We were suppose to pick them up Wednesday but didn't hear from them. Called Thursday and they still didn't have them. They said they would deliver that evening. Around 7:45 pm we still hadn't heard from them and I texted them. Said it was raining and traffic was bad so they were going to wait a bit. A little while later they texted back and asked up to stop by mortuary on the way out of town the next morning at 7. We are very disheartened by the way we were treat. We will never use this mortuary again. read more

This mortuary was listed on the hospice list of mortuaries that are recommended. My 88 year old dad chose this one because it was the closest to his house. This was in 2010. They may have learned a few things since then. But this was my experience. It is now 2018. I can finally actually "talk" about this experience. I had wanted to talk to hospice to ask them not to have this mortuary on their list of recommended funeral homes, but didn't really have the emotional energy to do it. My dad bought the funeral, cremation package which involved presenting my mom's body for viewing, transporting her to our church for the funeral, transporting her body back to their facility and performing the cremation. A decorative box was also provided with her ashes for my dad. I asked that I be able to do her hair and makeup as I am a cosmetologist and felt it was something I could do to honor my mother. They presented her embalmed body to me in a room. The fluids were leaking out of her body and I had to ask them to take care of this. They explained that they used a woman who worked freelance to do the embalming. When my friends were dressing her (again, we requested to be able to do this), they said the embalming was not done correctly and again noticed leaking fluids. My friends have had experience with helping with funerals for people in our church. Because the funeral was on a Saturday of a memorial day weekend, they couldn't find a hearse. I guess they didn't have their own hearses. So they called around and said they couldn't find one. So I ended up calling around with a limo service to finally find one. The woman who delivered my mom's body to the church was very nice and was not even affliated with the mortuary. A couple of men from the funeral home were there to take her body into the church for the viewing. Because it was a holiday weekend, the people from the mortuary did not stay because it was vacation for them. We then had the funeral. Some people from the mortuary were supposed to wheel my mother's body out of the chapel. When the time came to do so and no one from the mortuary was in the hall, my sons got up and wheeled her out. When we had taken her body out of the chapel into the hall, we looked around for someone from the mortuary to take her back. We finally found a man dressed shabbily, not in a suit, who had been waiting outside for us to call him. He was all sweaty from the heat. He proceeded to place my mom's body in a white van with no windows. He said he didn't want to bother us by hanging around in the church foyer. OK. Weird. My kids looked at the funny side of things, when recalling this experience. "We just called Mike who lives down by the river in his van to take care of her." The cremation and the ashes presentation in the wooden decorative box went well. So overall, we had a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad experience with this mortuary. Things may have changed. I don't know. I hope other people's experiences are not as unpleasant as ours. read more

They were very professional and prompt when my dad died. They gave us a fair price and didn't make any attempt to up-sell us. After a few brief phone calls, we were in and out of our in person meeting in less than 20 minutes for dad's direct cremation. My son was is a Veteran and was killed. Sonoran Skies was extremely helpful, caring and sympathetic. I can't even begin to tell you how much they helped my family! We didn't know how to go about planning a military funeral but these good people stepped in and helped us every step of the way. My mother had prepaid her final expenses at a very big, expensive funeral home in east Mesa. The compassion and caring at Sonoran Skies FAR surpassed the expensive funeral and so did the prices! The office staff is hard to work with. Someone filled the form out wrong. My husband's middle name was misspelled. We paid for 4 copies of the death certificate but never received them. So I went to viral records to get one on my own only to see the error. They told me the mortuary has to fix it and send it back in. When I explained that she said it wasn't necessary for Social Security and that she couldn't change it and that it was my fault because I signed the form. Seriously?!?! She was the one who filled out the form!!! My husband of over 20 years just died leaving me and 9 children to pick up the prices of our lives! Really insensitive and unprofessional! Now I have to order a birth certificate from out of state, take it to vital records, pay $30 for the correction before the $20 for the revised death certificate. This is going to take WEEKS to fix due to their inability to proof read their work. They also printed the (ridiculously expensive, way overpriced) programs that we paid for, off center but rather than fixing it and reprinting it, they moved the fold over. When we went to dress him, he had a small gash on his forehead and a bruised ear. I asked if he was dropped. She wouldn't answer me and just said she hadn't seen him yet and that make-up would cover it up. They may be priced well, but I will never work with them again!! read more

I am giving Sonoran in Skies five stars because of their professionalism and the way they handled my high maintenance family. I am a person who likes to have things done a certain way and they have to be done my way or no way and candy and her family did an excellent job at accommodating every single request. They helped us during the most difficult time of our lives and they were kind, patient, and caring. They welcomed us more than some family members. We were able to go in and put make up on my loved one which was important for my mother. They made sure our music was played in the background, they even enhanced our photo we provided and made it look better than the original thank you TJ. I have nothing but positive things to say about Sonoran Skies. They helped arrange the most beautiful celebration of life for my grandmother that I have ever seen they provided the escort service for a small fee and it was the icing on the cake to make sure that my grandmother could be escorted through Chandler on her way to her resting place. It added a special touch to something that is already difficult. It allowed my family to represent our loved one, even after they left us. This is a family owned company and the son, mother, and father all work together and every single one of them was on point. Neal went to the cemetery behind the hearse to help escort and he stayed at the cemetery where he paid his respects to me and my family. He was even dressed sharp. I am so satisfied with this company I have decided that it is now time to start planning something that I know is inevitable and I will choose this company for me and my loved ones, because I know we will be in good hands. Thank you, for providing such adequate services during a difficult time in need. I cannot thank you enough. I did see some reviews that were not so great and if it was during the same ownership it must've just been some miscommunication or hiccup because I could not see this family treating any family differently than the way they treated us. TJ and Candy helped guide us through the cremation process following my father's sudden passing. We made the initial arrangements while I was out of state, but the process was explained perfectly over the phone with no "salesy" pretense. When we had a chance to meet in person, the team provided us with guidance in managing his affairs in ways I couldn't imagine (# of death certificates needed, way to prevent theft of his identity, etc).
