When I was on Oahu on Valentines Day, my family went to the farmers market by Diamond Head. I met the most wonderful guy (Max probably) and he was SO KNOWLEDGEABLE and friendly. We visited about his time in Oregon (by Mt Hood) and Portland, and we talked for 30 minutes about bees. I bought two different kinds of honey and should have gone back for more. If you have a chance to get some while at the farmers market (or online) I cannot recommend Meli honey enough. During this last month, there have been storms and flooding and landslides. Max is amazing. We called him in March and our schedules never jived. We went with a second rate company who over charged us. Well their shoddy job had the bees return in two months! All during covid! Max to the rescue. Max is kindhearted and insect centered. He walked us through several scenarios and listened to our concerns. He didn't go for the quick kill (which would have been the easiest) but most toxic to our rabbit and our children. Max came tonight, was mindful of our covid situation and was masked at all times. He used a mechanical fix for the bees and was able to finish the job in one day. While he advocated for a trap-in the unique nature of where our hive was located (on a cliff side of our house). It was estimated that 35,000 bees were in our hive and max took care of it. He is customer centered and pro-bees. He is knowledgeable and precise in his practice. We had a huge bee colony in the tree in our front yard in Maunawili. The weight of the bees broke the tree branch and the bees were suddenly lying in a heap on our grass, near our moss rock wall where passersby like to sit and the sidewalk where people with their dogs and children are frequently passing by. This happened quite suddenly late in the afternoon and there was nothing we could do until the next day. Because of our concern for the safety of those walking by and the bees, we needed someone to remove the bees ASAP. We called Max and he was at our house within the hour! But as is the case with bees, even if I had seen them on the grass just before calling Max, by the time he arrived, they had mysteriously flown away. Although we knew Max was disappointed he wasn't able to rescue a swarm of bees, he was gracious, friendly, and super informative. I learned a lot from him about bees. One thing was very clear - Max is serious about his profession and passionate about bees. If we ever have a bee emergency again, we will definitely call Max. No one else is as qualified as he is. And he informed us he sells honey at the Farmers Markets. We will most definitely go to the Kailua Farmers Market to find him and buy some of his honey. Max is absolutely amazing with the bees!!!! He came out the very next day and helped us remove the bees on our rock wall. In about an hour he was able to get them to crawl into a box for safe transport. He discovered that the bees were actually homeless with no queen bee. While we waited, Max gave my daughter and I a higher appreciation for bees. So many facts and not enough time! We also purchased a bunch of honey for our neighbor and friends. A bee swarm suddenly appeared in our backyard last evening. With a 2 year old who loves to play outside, it was important we got rid of the bees ASAP. If you want the best beekeeper, you must hire Max. He is professional, smart and really cares for both your safety and saving the bees at the same time. I called Max and told him we have bees in our home. He came right away. We had a hive that was hidden in our chimney stack so Max could not see it. Nevertheless, he devised a plan and executed very successfully. After Max did his job, the bees were gone instantly. Unfortunately, he was not able to save the bees due to the location of the hive. Max came over as soon as I called for "HELP!" We had a large undulating mass of bees inside and outside of our storage shed. Loud humming, mesmerizing but terrifying. He came and like guiding sheep to their pen, cheerfully coaxed nearly all the bees into their new home, his beehive box. Max gave a bee presentation to our school group and it was such a wonderful experience! He is super knowledgeable about everything pertaining to bees, and really cares about protecting them. He is passionate, kind, professional, and didn't "dumb down" the presentation just because it was for kids, but still kept it interesting for them and explained things to them in a way they could understand.
