I'm sorry I really wanted to love this place. Our server was so nice and very attentive. A+ there. Ordering using the app and being able to use Apple Pay another plus! But the food ... 1. I ordered lilikoi pancakes and they brought out Mac nut, when I pointed this out the server took it in the back, the chef just put on some lilikoi syrup on and sent it right back. So I don't think the order was correct. 2. The pancakes were horrible, thick and dense and not edible :/ the portion is large, 3 big pancakes but it's so dry it's just not a good dish. 3. Tater tots, they were cold and the seasoning was way too salty/garlicy - we ate 2 and even tried one from the bottom in case the seasoning was too much on the top but to no avail 4. I stopped by here yesterday afternoon with my father for lunch. We had been on Kailua Beach that morning and when it was time for lunch I fired up Yelp. After looking through a couple of places I ultimately found Lilikoi Kitchen. This restaurant sits in a strip mall in Kailua and the inside can seat around 30 people. At the back of the restaurant is where you order and they have a touchscreen where you can do it without interacting with anyone. For lunch on this day I ultimately went with the Lilikoi chicken farm salad while my dad went with the LK's fish sandwich. The menu described my meal as mixed greens, tomato, cucumbers, shaved carrots, house torn croutons, lilikoi vinaigrette, and griddled chicken, and my dad's as sriracha aioli, pickled cucumber, American cheese, spring mix, and a brioche roll. While I normally don't order a salad out, I am glad that I did here. My chicken ended up being cooked nicely and I liked the flavor of the spices on it. All of the vegetables felt fresh and I appreciated having something healthy and green, which I often find difficult to get in Hawaii. The croutons added a nice texture to the salad and I absolutely loved the dressing. It was creamy with a good lilikoi flavor without being overly punchy or sweet. If I had one complaint it would be that I wish my salad had been dressed with more of it. My father also enjoyed his fish sandwich and liked the greens that came on his plate as well. I had been to this restaurant once before when they first opened, but didn't get a chance to write a review. I happened to be in the Kailua area again and decided to stop by for breakfast. They're located in a small shopping center across from the Kailua post office and next door to Teddy's Burgers & Tori Richard. Free parking is available in the shared lot, although somewhat limited. The hours on their door say they open at 9am. I waited outside for 5-10 min past 9am (in the cold windy & rainy weather), and finally they opened. Basically you order at the counter and they bring your food to you, although you can also order via kiosk, online or QR code. I was craving mac nut pancakes, so I ordered their LK Signature Pancake Plate for $18.99. It also comes with eggs & protein. I requested my eggs sunny and asked if they had Portuguese sausage. The employee at the counter said yes, so I ordered that as my protein. When the employee brought my food to me, I noticed that the sausage was a breakfast sausage patty and not Portuguese sausage. When I pointed that out to her, she said, "no, this is Portuguese sausage". I took a bite and it was definitely not Portuguese sausage. Regarding the pancakes, it was a generous portion but they were too doughy and dense, as opposed to fluffy and light. The mac nut sauce was good though. read more

This little kitchen packed in some delicious flavor. This location was poppin at lunch time. We ordered at the table with the QR code. The serving sizes were very large! VERY IMPRESSED! Came to Lilikoi Kitchen expecting a simple meal, but what we got was a flavor experience. The eatery is unassuming; simple and casual. You can order at the counter, via QR code at your table (Toast app) or via a touch screen. We ordered the wagyu pastrami melt and the shrimp curry. Both were enormous! The sandwich came in two giant halves paired with half a plate of mixed greens drizzled with a lilikoi dressing so good I could drink it. The shrimp curry plate came with lots of shrimp, rice and a very well-made mac salad. As someone who can eat a lot, I'm always a bit surprised when I need a box to take food home. Of course, the most important aspect of a restaurant is how good the food is. Both dishes were made with care and tasted great. Service was friendly as well. At this location on Kailua Road, there's much more seating available inside, with both bench and chair seating. It's self-ordering, in that you walk up to the front counter to place your order, get a ticket number and the server brings it out to you. Or you can sit at a table, use the QR code to order, and they'll bring the food out to you as well. If you're having difficulty with either, a server would also gladly help answer any questions or ring you up on their end. Just have a little patience as it seems there's only 1-2 people out front with the remainder staff members cranking out the food in the back. Comfort food at its finest. The garlic shrimp plate that I ordered was very filling with creamy, buttery, garlic shrimp on top a bed of rice, next to a big serving of mac salad with a side salad topped with their signature lilikoi dressing. A little messy when peeling off the shrimp shells, but the trick is to use one hand to do that, and your fork as a tool with the other, so that you're not getting both of your hands dirty, unless you like that kind of thing, then go for it! All in all, there's parking located directly in front of their shop, but also along the side by Down to Earth if you don't mind walking a little further. Six of us needed a spot to have lunch after Bud's last game of the season. Serendipitous find a few doors down from Kailua Starbucks. We saved two tables and just the right timing two tables against the wall opened up so I asked a worker if she could clear it for us. She said it'll take 10 minutes cuz we are slammed. Thankfully the tables were cleared in time for everyone to arrive. One nice lady put her bag on the table so hubs wouldn't have to watch both. My college Wakabakai sister and I spotted each other as she and her daughter were leaving. Great fast hello. The two servers were fast, courteous and as there is a QR code to order on the table the kiddies' mom took our orders, sent it in and paid for Fathers Day lunch. The portions were more than generous. The salads were HUGE, fresh and enjoyed. The kids shared a quesadilla and order of fries. Hubs had a sandwich, I had big time LARGE garlic shrimp over a bed of rice with Mac salad and a colorful salad. The mango lemonade was tall and lasted me to the next game in Manoa. Restaurant seems kind of small but is big on service, food and good flavors. In Kailua? Give them a try. You won't regret it. I like that we were checked on. They have free parking right in front and I highly recommend reservations during weekday lunch times. Portion sizes are big and I believe they are meant for sharing. My wife gives me the most disgusted and sour looks when I use my fingers to spoon out or lick-up the final precious drops of icing or sauces, but I found myself doing this exact move yesterday to fish-out the final drops of their salad dressing. It is fresh and light and has a hint of the establishment's namesake (lilikoi) You have to try it. Yum. It was so nice, I went twice. I went with my aunty on Thursday. She ordered the duck fat fried rice loco moco and I ordered the turkey BLTA with parmesan garlic fries. My garlic fries came with a garlic aioli sauce, it was so good I was ready to bathe in it. My turkey BLTA really hit the spot too. Full of flavor and just right amount of sauce and crispy. I couldn't stop eating it but I was so full. The portions are very generous. My aunty loved the moco, so we had to order one to go for my husband. That day, we were greeted and helped by Laura. She was very friendly and welcoming. It felt like we were a guest at someone's home. Ambiance is simple, clean, cozy and comfortable. I had such a great experience, I went again today and took my family. We welcomed by the owner and chef herself, Chef Bianca! This time I had the Miss Patty with the same parmesan garlic fries. It was so delicious, again I couldn't stop eating it. My husband had the chopped cheese melt, he was so impressed. My sister had the pastrami melt, also so good and the sauce . They don't have a Keiki menu, but Chef Bianca helped to accommodate a meal the perfect size for our girls. My oldest daughter had a perfectly grilled cheese and tater tots, while my youngest had a side serving of kalua pig (she has CP and we always bring a side of steamed uala for her meals). Chef Bianca, mentioned the kalua pig might be dry because it's meant for sandwiches. But it was not dry at all, but so juicy. The little dining area is spotless clean, a little stark and slightly awkward. The food was as beautiful as it was delicious. The pastrami Ruben, not billed as Waygu as per other reviews was still wonderful. The Ruben was served with a little salad that was absolutely fresh and impeccably dressed. I added French fries to my sandwich and got a nice size portion. My dining partner had the Asian Chicken Salad and it was huge and gorgeous! Looking forward to coming back again. Was initially disappointed for a few reasons: the breakfast menu stops at 12 (so no duck fat loco moco, which was the thing that I wanted most) and the pastrami no longer listed wagyu (so I didn't want to try that either) Ended up having the farm salad with lilikoi dressing. The lilikoi dressing was good! Probably the highlight of the experience here. My dining companions had the turkey BLT with cheese. I really think the cheese sort of made the sandwich not great: it had congealed almost as though it was meant to be melted, but wasn't quite. To me, the cheese needs to be either cold or melted: probably not the stage in between. We also had the Monte Cristo, which was fine but was far from a Monte Cristo: it wasn't deep fried, nor did it have powdered sugar. That might have been for the best, but it also just was different than the menu indicated. Honestly, I'd say just get the lilikoi dressing and take it home. The rest of the meal... meh. Lilikoi Kitchen is fairly new, or at least the location they are at is. They're located in the heart of Kailua Town right next to Mahina, across from Tokyo Central. I came with a handful of friends for brunch. The restaurant is on the smaller side with roughly 10 tables that sit 2-4 people each. You can order via QR code or at the counter. You are also free to sit wherever you want. The cashier also is your server. If ordering using the QR code, it is set tabs by table. When looking at the menu there were a ton of items that had "coming soon" next to them but in the app, they were available. So make sure to ask! Unfortunately they were out of acai so no acai bowls for us. We had the Duck Fat fried rice loco moco, blueberry French toast, BLTA, a breakfast sandwhich (big boy Sammie or something) and the Wagyu Pastrami panini. The sandwhich portions were fairly sized, as well as the loco moco. I wish the French toast had more pieces, I feel like for the price, considering it's the main part of the dish, should be featured more. Though, the French toast did come with bacon and eggs. The eggs were actually some of the best scrambled eggs I've tasted! The server was honestly very slow to refill our waters but that could be because she is just getting used to the job. There wasn't many people inside either. After eating we were visited by maybe the manager or someone who was over seeing the restaurant. She was so kind and friendly and for the 3 minute interaction we had with her, she makes me want to go back. She explained that the chef, chef Bianca, who owns the place, wants the restaurant to be somewhere you and your friends can get a good bite, and to eat and talk stories with good vibes. Great touch with a sprinkle of chili oil on top really made this stand out from other avocado toasts I've had before. They sell the lilikoi dressing for $8-$9 for a 8oz bottle but it's totally worth picking up. So glad they sell it. They also make they really good açaí bowls. The macadamia is good, the lilikoi one is better I think. There are also lilikoi lemonade drinks and those are pretty strong and taste like a tropical drink. Our food tasted great and the portions were generous. The restaurant atmosphere is very nice. We scanned the QR code at our table to access the menu, order online and pay our food in advance, I like that setup. The service however needed improvement. When we arrived at the restaurant it wasn't crowded. Two tables were finishing up their food and would leave soon. That left only us and another table who already placed their orders. The problem we experienced was that the server gave us the other table's orders. We hadn't even finished ordering our food on the app. The other table acknowledged the orders given to us to be theirs, and I felt embarrassed for them. We were both gracious towards the server and he was very apologetic. As for our own orders it took a while for us to get our food. My food came out first, and my brother and sister in laws food came out about 10 minutes later. We had to ask for our drinks again and our fries came out 5 minutes after my family's food. There were only two people working in the restaurant, the server and the cook. The cook also served and in spite of the slow service they did their best to take care of us. I would recommend Lilikoi Kitchen if you plan to takeout. If you plan to dine in you'll need to exercise patience and empathy. read more

The sweetest lady to go along with it, giving instructions on how to order and then serving our food! Excellent quality of food packed with lots of flavor. Very fragrant curry...could use a bit more gravy to cover the amount of rice and I would bump up the shrimp size to 16/20 for more of an impact of "shrimp" in the dishes title. But yummy all the same. My hubby had the Wagyu pastrami melt served with Parmesan fries. Delish with provolone and lemon garlic aioli. We shared the shrimp fajita quesadilla, kinda like an appetizer, so good... really nice clean flavors. We also got a side of duck fried rice, it was good. My friend and I both had the Belgian waffle which came with our choice of breakfast meat and eggs. The scrambled eggs were fluffy without being airy and therefore, insubstantial; bacon was thin and perfectly crisp. My friend liked her veggie sausages option. For both of us, the waffle was a flop--it was just too tough! Don't know what flour was used but the texture does not work. Delicious food and lovely service workers. Had such a great breakfast. Tables were nice and spacious and served was very kind.

My parents just got back from Kailua and told me this story. They dined in and got sat. The waitress said to use the QR code to order. My parents went on the QR code, used the link but for some reason half the menu said unavailable. They were confused so my mom decided to order at the front instead. Duck fat Fried Rice Loco Moco and the Mac Nut crusted Mahi Mahi. After about 10 min of waiting, they hear the next table order and the waitress says they are out of the Mahi. Finally my parents waitress came back and said they are out. Only Mahi they have is for the sandwich. So my mom orders something else. Another 10 min go by. The waitress comes back and says "apologies, I found a fish for you. Would you like the Mahi instead?" Of course they said yes. Another 25 min go by. Meanwhile, other ppl are ordering and getting their food while my parents are waiting. The waitress comes back and says "apologies for the wait, we have an inspection going on so things are moving slower than usual" but my parents sees everyone else who came in later than them eating already. My parents at this point haven't even gotten their waters refilled. Another 10 min goes by and the food finally comes out. Now they did say the food was good. No problems there. But from the time they ordered, it took an hour for them to get their food. After all that, they get a to go box. The waitress gives my dad the to go box, cleans the plates, and then waits for him to put the food in his box by the table so that she can grab his plate. He said it was weird and almost felt rushed like she was trying to get him out of there. Overall it sounds like the service was bad and did not do a good job handling the situations they had (if they even had those things going on). My parents were disappointed and also somewhat felt discriminated against since most of the customers were a certain demographic while they were locals. Now there could have been variables and other things happening in the back that they couldn't know, but it was a bad experience for them. Hope they can improve on situational awareness and customer service. Addition: This is in reply to Bianca the owner. It is understandable to the series of unfortunate events that happened in one day. As you said, the mark was missed. Unfortunately, my parents felt they weren't handled fairly. As I said above, everyone being served before them even though they were there first and saw them order after. Could be an over exaggeration or situational, but that does not devalue my parent's perspective. The only communication they had was the inspection. Nothing was said about the stove or the influx of orders. Again, my parents didn't even get water refills until the food came out. And after all that, they were then rushed to leave. My family drove all the way to Kailua this past weekend to celebrate the opening of Lilikoi Kitchen. My review is mostly based on the food since I was not able to partake in the opening ceremony, but my sister was able to capture some video of the ribbon-cutting. They brought us back some food to try. I got the turkey BLTA and my husband got the Cubano panini. I really liked my turkey BLTA mostly because of the pesto aioli. I did notice that it was missing the balsamic glaze on top, which would've been nice because it really needed some acid to cut through the sandwich. Thankfully, the sandwich comes with a side salad, and the Lilikoi dressing was perfect for the sandwich. My husband tried the Cubano and was not impressed. So much show that he had to make homemade Cubano's from scratch (that is how serious we are about our Cubano's). I don't recommend the cubano if you love a traditional cubano. The couple of issues I'm sure were due to them just opening so hopefully they can straighten them all out. But overall, I really liked my turkey BLTA sandwich and there were a couple of other things that I would love to try on their menu. read more
