Great to have something here again and the owners totally did it right. Huge menu of Burgers, hot dogs, Italian beef's, fries, custard, shakes, floats, and yes, even salads. The eatery outside is cleaned as soon as patrons finish their meal or treat. There are a few tables inside but are usually occupied. This place is busy and for good reason. Food is great here! You might wait a little longer than you're used to but well worth the wait!

Not sure what all the hype is. They updated the inside and now there is one spot for sitting and a few tall tables, no chairs. There is plenty of seating on the patio outside. We placed our order and it started wrong. The girl asked for the name for the order went replied "Best" easy enough. Nope, not easy enough she got that wrong. We ordered a Chicago Dog, a regular dog with nachos cheese, a Melkat Burger, a Chicago Gyro and a loaded fries. She asked if we wanted to make it a meal, then proceeded to ask if I wanted a regular or large. I made it a meal and requested large for $3.00 more and only the drink was large (that I really didn't want to begin with) and there was an up charge on the fries (naturally) but the size didn't change. Honestly, the food was barely lukewarm when we got home and it isn't that far of a drive. Seems as though it didn't start very hot to begin with. The best item we purchased was the Melkat Burger.

My friend and I decided to go for some ice cream after dinner, and I recalled that there was a new ice cream place in town called MelKat's so we went there. To say that it was delicious is an understatement. Their crunch-coat sprinkles are a perfect nostalgic treat! The customer service was wonderful and I will definitely will be back! Thanks, Melkat's!

MelKat's has quickly become one of my favorite spots in Kenosha, and after one visit it's easy to see why this place is already buzzing. I went with the smashburger with bacon and fries -- and wow. The burger was large, juicy, and packed with flavor. The bacon was a perfect addition, and the fries rounded it out into a solid, satisfying meal. Portions are generous without feeling like a gimmick. This is just good, quality food done right. Beyond the food, the vibe here is special. The staff was warm, professional, and clearly cared about the experience. What really stood out was the owner coming out personally to greet customers -- in a busy restaurant, that level of engagement is impressive and speaks to the kind of operation Dino and Jason are running. Speaking of busy -- the place was absolutely packed, and for good reason. The transformation of the former Shirl's Drive-In space is remarkable. The venue is completely redone and genuinely gorgeous -- a great atmosphere for a quick lunch or a casual night out. MelKat's is the kind of place Kenosha has been waiting for. Classic flavors, great hospitality, and real community pride baked into every detail. Don't sleep on this one.

Really good! We sat on the patio area with our dog. Don't come if you're in a hurry, quite a long wait but it's newly opened.

Need tomato on the Chicago Dog and sweet peppers option on the beef. But still a very good meal.

It was a weeknight, but the street we were driving up to get here was a little dark and run down. But don't let that deter you. They have a nice sized parking lot for their location. Then we walked inside and found a narrow room with a bar running the length of one long wall and counter height tables and chairs perpendicular to the opposite wall. They really jammed in as much as they could in the space that they have. The ambience was dark and moody. They were playing hard rock and the bar had a couple of regulars sitting inside. At the end of the bar at the far end, was a cubicle of a kitchen. That's where the magic happens. Their menu is simple: appetizers, burgers, and build your own burgers. That's it. We all built our own burgers and they have a LOT of options. However, the build your own may start at $9, but each topping adds to the cost. But who cares? The burgers were phenomenal! Their website clearly states, "Best burgers, ever." And they're not wrong. The burgers were juicy, flavorful, and delicious. Probably one of the best burgers I have ever had. And everything is made in this tiny area at the end of the bar. We were the only people in the place after about 20 minutes, but again, who cares. The staff were extremely friendly. Their playful banter and bickering when they cleaned up was hilarious to listen to, and they were lovely to talk to as well. One of our group wanted to pick up some Spotted Cow beer (you can't get it in Illinois) and asked about a place to get it nearby. They suggested Shenanigan's with a drive-through just a couple blocks away. We have to make another trek back. They are awesome and their burgers are great, too!

Basically every screen in the place was must-watch TV and the bartender -- understandably distracted, perhaps -- decided that was the ideal moment to restock straws and cut fruit. We waited. In the heat. Our server was genuinely good when he materialized, which wasn't as often as we'd have liked. Food: the cheese curds earned their reputation. The Mekts burger was fine -- solid, no complaints. The Reuben rolls, however, arrived looking exactly like what they were: a Sysco product plated with minimal ceremony. Hard pass next time. As for the name -- if you're picturing a dock, pilings, maybe a gull or two -- walk outside and squint hard past the road and the rooftops. Big lake's out there somewhere. Technically. Maybe a 3.2 night in a 4.3 restaurant. I'd go back on a slow Tuesday in October.

The bar is a tad small so it can get busy in there pretty quickly. We got a table right at the main entrance and we were served promptly and pleasantly. I got help with ordering, which can be common for first timers, but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. They have a nice tap list so getting a cold, refreshing beer was a must! My one critique if you will, the fries were limp.. not soggy but definitely not crispy. I didn't even bother finishing them, but the burger was filling enough that it didn't matter much. If I am in the area, I would stop here again and try a different burger, because they all looked so dang good!!

The only parking option I saw was on the street. Inside it's attractive with its own nautical character. Its food menu is burger centric and is kind of complicated to figure out. You complete a form that itemizes the kind of burger, fries, etc that you want. Even my waitress tried to help me and she got confused. Ha! I finally ordered a bowl of their beer cheese soup to start for $10.45. I then added an 8 oz grass fed beef burger with hand cut fresh fries for another $12.45. Yes, it was more food than I needed but I wanted to try the beer cheese soup which was delivered first with 4 pieces of sourdough bread. The soup was delicious being rich in cheesy flavor with cheese strings and bacon bits on top. It was a full bodied flavor soup and with the bread I could have made a meal of just this. After finishing the soup, the burger and fries appeared. It was a hearty and very good tasting burger on a quality bread bun. Also the fries were very good tasting with a good potato flavor. I couldn't finish it all but I wanted to. With a drink and tax it was about $28 before tip. I'm glad I had lunch here.
