I hate to say it, but the lady in charge of taking the orders turned us off from ever going back. She rolled her eyes at me when I asked for my onions and tomatoes on the side of my Gyro. Better before they moved. I've been to the new location (by 5 star driving school) twice now and I'm not impressed. My family and I used to eat here all the time, service has always been great, fast, friendly, & the food was delicious and reasonably priced. Since the move the service is painfully slow, portions in some meals seem to have been reduced, quality seems to have gone down, and prices have gone up. Not sure how often I'll be eating here anymore and it sucks because I prefer to support small business, especially those who support the military. Three of us stopped by to grab lunch and ordered the BLT regular, a Nanas Signature Beef sandwich and the Papas Meatball marinara and mozzarella sandwich. We ordered soft drinks and water. They all came with a large quantity of freshly cooked fries with the right amount of salt. The oil used was fresh because their was no adverse smell they were simply excellent and crispy. The meatball sandwich is excellent with tasty meatballs marinara sauce and great mozzarella. The roll was fresh and tasty. The Nanas shaved beef was also tasty and not saturated with fat. I had sautéed bell peppers and cheese which it needed and made this special better. The BLT was tasty great tomato lettuce bacon the only slight negative was the butter/oil sauce used on the grill to toast the bread was slightly old. Otherwise it would have been excellent as well. The other rolls were perfect though. The quantity of each meal was a lot and we actually tooo some fries and part of a sandwich to go because it was so much. We left some of the fries as well. So plenty of food even for a hefty appetite. We'd all stop be and return again if in the area. The service was efficient polite and professional. The atmosphere was clean and simple. They were at about 1/3 capacity and there was no spied or operational issues. Very pleasant. read more

Have had several orders wrong in past, this time decided to say something. Had order remade and was wrong again. Then when called on it was told how f**ked up this is and that it was my fault. This is an interesting restaurant, because I am not sure what it wants to be. They serve fast food, but it is a quasi-sit down restaurant setting. The prices are high for what you get. A two dollar up-charge to make your hot dog a Chicago dog seems a bit much just to add tomatoes and celery salt. The service is really slow. Took me over 15 minutes to get 2 hot dogs and fries and there was only one other customer in the restaurant. That seems too long for a fast food/hot dog stand restaurant. We just went here for the first time (you almost pass right by the place because its sign is very small). But we are glad we stopped there because the food was really quite good. My husband and I each had a gyro sandwich which we loved. The tomatoes and onions seemed particularly fresh and the cucumber sauce contained freshly-chopped cucumbers. The meat was also great and fresh-tasting. I do agree with the others that it may be a bit on the pricey side, but we were able to use coupons to make it reasonable (and they even gave us a coupon to use for next time!). Plus, the portions were quite large. We are happy this restaurant came to Paddock Lake and are hoping they sell ice cream in the summer--hint, hint :) read more

I was here the first day they opened and then came back a few months later. I personally know the owners and they had to get rid of the old cook, so if you did have a bad experience idd urge you to come back. They have awesome Chicago style food with a few signature items that are out of this world. I stopped in here over the weekend to grab a quick bite to go as I was farm sitting in the area. I must say I was looking forward to the food after reading about the owners passion for the business. I ordered a burger and "onion rings." The burger was okay, the bun was kind of soggy by the time I got home (5 mins) due to the heat in the wrapper I think. The onion rings however did not resemble rings. And I think they were also fried too long because they just tasted burnt. I feel like they gave them to me since it was a takeout order and I wouldn't see them before I got home, and this is extremely disappointing. We stopped at Charlie's for lunch on a weekday. They were not very busy. Ordered two hotdogs with fries and two drinks. Easy right. The waitress seemed very unorganized to say the least. She did bring our drinks. And we WAITED and WAITED for our sandwiches??? Other customers came in ordered with another person.... They got their food and we still WAITED. This happened twice or three times. Finally we got up too leave and she said your food will be right up. I don't think so. They REALLY need to get their act together. We would never go back.
