Hell yeah. First time in Vancouver and we stumbled upon this place just near our Airbnb. Their donuts are sooooo good. I especially loved the cereal milk, it was crunchy from the cornflakes, soft and airy donut, and the cream wasn't heavy at all and tasted so much like cereal milk. Their matcha was pretty good too! It was smooth, creamy, & sweet, no notes of being grassy or astringent. We ended up coming back to try more. The pb&j donut was delicious tasted like a light airy uncrustable. The everything bagel was basically an everything bagel but airy light donut consistency but with more of a sweet and savory cream cheese taste. It's a big yes highly recommend for me! read more

We ordered Mello Donuts on Uber and had the pleasure of tasting their beautifully presented donuts right out of the box. There was also a great variety of flavours my husband chose, including Strawberry Cream, Tiramisu, Chocolate Pudding, and more. Each donut was topped with a special decorative touch, which made them look elegant and award-worthy. I first tried the Salted Caramel donut and absolutely loved it. The sugar topping was sweet and delightful, the dough was soft just the way I like it, and the caramel filling was generously oozing out -- so good! Next was the Lemon Curd. It had the same soft, fresh dough and generous filling, but the lemon curd had a slight aftertaste that wasn't my personal favorite. Still, it was clearly fresh and well made. But what I loved most was the Nutella Mello Donut -- OMG, I was in heaven! The Nutella was rich, smooth, and overflowing with bliss. I finished it in one minute! Your teeth just sink right into this soft, fluffy, cloud-like goodness -- it's giving pillow of happiness, truly These aren't your regular donuts either -- they're brioche donuts with a little hole on top where they pipe in the creamy filling. And the flavors? Unreal. Tiramisu, Nutella, Strawberries & Cream, Lemon Curd, Chocolate pudding, Peanut Butter & Jelly plus more; and some savory Matcha, and Everything Bagel donut -- how do you even pick one?! I ended up going with the Vanilla, which has a Madagascar vanilla bean custard filling -- light, creamy, not too sweet, just perfect. And the Salted Caramel? Omg. I opted for the Nutella donut and it was absolutely packed with Nutella, but what really stood out was how light and airy the donut itself was. Let me start off by sharing the incredibly controversial fact that I don't like doughnuts. Shocking, I know, but the tooth-achingly sweet, yeasty, dense flavour has never been for me. So I'm sure you'll understand my skepticism when my friend claimed that this spot had "pick me" doughnuts, meaning, doughnuts that are "not like other doughnuts". Begrudgingly, I accepted coming, and tried the tiramisu flavour. Now perhaps I'm biased because I do love tiramisu, but I was incredibly pleasantly surprised. So much so that I went back next week and got a box of them to bring home. Not overtly sweet, incredibly light and fluffy (they are brioche doughnuts after-all), filled with yummy cream (which might be the best part imo). I must warn you that the filling gives authentic tiramisu, meaning that (and I may be wrong) but I have a slight suspicion it may contain the slightest bit of liqueur, which may not be for everyone, so just being mindful of that. Additionally, at 5.75$ per doughnut excluding tax+tip, it is a bit on the pricier side, but I suspect that is due to quality of ingredients. Overall, quite impressed. Not much seating on the inside, so it doesn't quite give the "come here to study" vibe, but the staff were quite nice and friendly. Would recommend, particularly to high-quality doughnut lovers. read more

Stopped by for a sweet treat while waiting for our table to be ready for dinner. Staff were super nice. We got a six count box of donuts... Matcha, lemon, injeolmi , donuki, strawberries and cream, and cherry chocolate donut. We ate the lemon and injeomli donut there. Both were fantastic. Super flavorful. Later that evening we indulged in the other ones. The strawberries and cream was a lot of cream not too much strawberry, but it was still very tasty. Cherry chocolate was phenomenal. Was really excited to try this donut shop after seeing good reviews from social media, but it sadly didn't meet my expectations. The shop itself is cute, and the service was quick. We ordered 3 brioche donuts: lemon curd, Nutella, and tiramisu. I got three doughnuts that were filled, and I have never had so much filling to doughnut before. The filling in the chocolate pudding doughnut was so rich and complemented the soft, fresh dough perfectly. I can't wait to get into the other two. Mello is an Asian-owned donut shop located in Chinatown, Vancouver. In Asian culture, "it's not too sweet" is actually the highest compliment -- and Mello does this perfectly. Most of their donuts lean toward a lighter sweetness, and I really appreciated that the staff took the time to explain this and recommend options that would better suit our sweet tooth. The donuts themselves were excellent -- light, airy, and soft, with a cream filling that was incredibly fluffy and smooth. You can tell a lot of care goes into both the texture and flavor. That said, the surrounding area isn't the best, and walking around can feel a bit uncomfortable. I do wish there were more efforts to make the area feel safer, because this shop truly deserves more foot traffic. We stopped by Mello last Friday afternoon for more sweets and desserts. We got two special brioche donuts to share (CA$5.50 each) and they were so tasty! The EVERYTHING BAGEL DONUT was definitely my favorite because it tasted like a sweet version of the actual bagel with chive cream cheese. The whipped cream was mostly savory with some sweetness, plus the donut was sweet and filled with everything seasoning. Very unique, for sure. I also enjoyed the TIRAMISU donut because I am a huge coffee fan. Overall, the brioche donut was fluffy and the seasonings on top of both donuts made it a bit crispier. Cream on both were good. It's possible we didn't order the right things, though. My friend I came with mentioned he preferred Lee's donuts instead because they are much softer there. Mello Chinatown is nondescript from the outside, just a simple pale yellow corner storefront with large windows. Inside is large and spacious with a few tables, but no seating. I'm not a big fan of donuts, but I do love brioche so I wanted to give Mello a try. I stopped by on a Thursday early afternoon and there was a short line ahead of me. The brioche was very good, light and fluffy. Donuts had a generous amount of filling. The vanilla custard cream filling was light with a hint of sweetness and vanilla flavoring was noticeable. The tiramisu mascarpone filling had the right amount of coffee flavor (not too light, not too strong), but this filling was a little heavier/richer than the custard cream. I love how brioche dough gives Mello a different, non-traditional take on donuts. Service at this location was quick, not friendly but not rude. Depending how picky you are with fillings, visit their website beforehand to see which flavors are cream based vs mascarpone based. The website says the donuts can be stored at room temperature, and recommend consuming same day. read more

When I tell you that the cereal milk donut from Mello is the best donut I've ever had, I'm not kidding. I stopped by here on a Sunday afternoon and got the cereal milk cream donut, though was also very tempted by the tirimisu and matcha donuts. They have a good variety to choose from without it being too overwhelming. I actually refrigerated my donut and had it the nice morning (not heated up either) during a hike. Even though I didn't it eat while it was fresh, it was still amazing. The dough was so soft, it was creamy but not overly sweet, and I'm so sad I haven't found anything similar to this back in Toronto. I was tempted to go back to Mello afterwards but stopped myself since I also had two donuts from Lee's on this trip (but I would go back to Vancouver just for these donuts). The space itself was a bit small with limited seating, but very aesthetic and service was quick and friendly!
