Great pizza and an excellent beer list for Columbia. I was a bit bummed that they listed, but were out of, my favorite (Karmeliet Tripel), but was able to drown my sorrows in a Delirium Tremens, so really can't complain. Also found it amusing that the Belgian beer came in bottle, sans glass - the owner might want to educate the servers a bit on what those snifters with the pink elephants are sitting around for. read more

I normally love Mellow Mushroom but I was not impressed with this one. The restaurant was crowded for most of the time but they had a single waitress covering multiple tables and it was VERY slow. It took forever to even get appetizers and the pizza wasn't as amazing as it normally is. Definitely could be better. read more

Well this trip started out very well. We was seated very quickly and our server was very polite. The wings were very good. You can tell they are baked in the pizza oven, but that is what made them crisp but yet succulent. The wing sauce is pretty standard for hot. Now onto the pizza. The pizza was perfect it was not Roma or Naples but it was some of the best crust I have had in the states. The sauce had a very good taste and the pizza itself came together with strips of bacon on it. The cheese was spread perfect just like someone who took pride in cooking with a few bare spots of sauce. That is key to a good pizza is the bare spots after a lot of cheese before the crust. Lastly the waitress kept checking on us to see if we needed anything. (which she did very politely and about every 5-to 8 mins perfect if you ask me) Over all I would give this a 5 out of 5 star rating, I changed my mind from my Facebook post which I said I could only give a 4 of 5 stars. My reason why I did it was because when it comes to pizza this place in one of the top pizza joints in the Columbia area. The building is decorated like all of the Mellow Mushrooms I have visited. Stopped by for Saturday dinner, 12:00 meal. Had about a 15 minuet wait to be seated. I had a mushroom hogie. It was a very good sandwich. My wife had the enlightened spinach salad she was pleased with it and the house dressing. My daughter had the French bread pizza. It was one of the best FB pizzas I have ever tasted. It was good and fresh. Davis waited on us he was very efficient and kept an eye on our table. The shroom tea is a good drink. All in all we had a good experience were pleased with the food and service. The mellow mushroom is on our do again list. read more

This place is not the best. The beer wasn't as cold as it should have been. The appetizers where good but the main meal wasn't as good as I expected. The hoagies didn't have as much as they should have like one was missing all the meat. The pizza was mushy. The service could have been better. I wouldn't recommend people to this place and I won't be come here again. read more

Pizza is delicious. Service is good. I went on a Saturday around noon and waited for 40 mins to be seated. While I was waiting I went to the upstairs bar and ordered a Guinness. The bartender did not knew what he was doing. He gave me a flat beer. Why? Well he rushed and pulled the tap handle all the way down and that caused the glass to fill with foam. Then his buddy told him "dude you have to pour about 4 glasses because that beer is all foam". So he continued to fill the glass and pouring the foam out making it a flat beer at the end. So I ordered a new Castle and same thing happened. Flat. Under staff and poorly trained bartenders. Owner must be losing money on the beer. Do not go if you are ordering peperonni for $20 dollars is not worth it. read more

When you come to Columbia, you have to try the Mellow Mushroom. Living in NJ, there is no shortage of good pizza, but the Parmesan dusted crust, and "served to order" pizza is an must when you are in town. If you are traveling into town, stay at the Courtyard Marriott on Assembly Street, and it is a .7 mile walk to the restaurant, which you will appreciate after stuffing yourself. I sat at the bar, watched a game, and enjoyed one of the many beers in stock (ShockTop). This is only 4 stars b/c of the workout that I have to do tomorrow morning to work off the 10 inch small pie. read more

Slow service and food not so great. They overdid our pizza and then brought us stale bread and Tomatoes. We were there almost 40 mins just waiting for our pizza. I only recommend it for people who are there to grab a quick lunch. read more

Awesome service, and the pizzas are HUGE! (A large is way too much for two people). My only complaint is that the pizza was soggy in the middle. I can't remember what pizza I ordered, but it came with onion... a LOT of onion. So if you aren't a huge onion fan, make sure you ask for no onion if your pizza comes with it. read more

I've had at least 3 times in the past 2 months where I've tried to call in for 15 minutes straight and couldn't get through. They aren't THAT busy and I was using automatic repeat dialing. Just left the restaurant. The place is filthy. When we complained utensils and plates were dirty we received another set. When we complained they were dirty the waitress brought us hot water to clean them ourselves. Which we did. I then showed her the crap that came off the utensils and she said. Yeah they are dirty!!! Really. Good thing we ate pizza.... However..,,Pizza was doughy and staff was inattentive. Plus we had uncooked pretzels. Anyway. We complained and said they should take something off for the bad pretzels and dirty plates. They took off 5% which was pathetic it should have been 10. I LOVE their Calzones!!! They have awesome pizza also, but I'm absolutly stuck on the calzones. the spring water dough they use has the best texture and the ingrediants are the best. I usually hold the sauce as I find it best for dipping :) Everyone should go at least once and they will be hooked forever. read more

I went to MM last night as a double date with my husband and another couple. We arrived at 6:45, and were seated by 7:05-7:10 latest. Waitress took our orders by 7:30, but guess what--THE FOOD DIDN'T SHOW UP UNTIL ALMOST 9 PM. If they can't deal with having a full resturaunt and giving everyone their food in a timely manner (not an hour and a half later) then they should have a cap limit. My food came out cold. The other girl and I had to get to go boxed because our food sucked. We left within 5 minutes of getting the food. HORRIBLE service. Horrible food. read more

I went to Mellow Mushroom on a Friday night and waited a solid 20 minutes for seating which wasn't too bad. Service was a bit slow and a few requests were forgotten but the spinach artichoke dip and my BBQ chicken pizza were both very good. Went to lunch with my friend on Sunday. We ordered the large spinach salad. We paid over $9.00 for a small salad, the bowls were not even half full. Asked the waitress if she gave us the small salad my mistake and she said no but we could order more food if we were still hungry. While the salad was good, it would have been a lot better had we not walked out of there spending over $20 and still hungry. Went here on 12/28/17 with my son, expecting the service we had experienced in the past. Didn't even get to a table. The main area at the ground floor was only about 25% full. We asked the young lady for a booth. One was available, but still had a couple glasses on it. She went upstairs, came down and said it will be a while, until they clean out that booth. With a surly demeanor, told us to "Wait over by the door if you want to get a table." As if we were in the way of the non-existent foot traffic. Evidently she could not remove the two glasses from the booth and walked around as if bored with nothing to do. After almost 15 minutes, we decided to give up. We have eaten here many times in the past and had a fine experience each time. Not sure if it was just the one lazy, mean spirited Hostess, or what, but we won't be back. There are way too many places to eat to put up with being treated like that. We walked about two minutes away, to Persona Wood Fired Pizza and were treated fine and had great pizza as well. I was very disappointed on my past trip to Mellow Mushroom this past Saturday night. I have visited multiple other locations and was excited to enjoy some delicious pizza after a long day. We waited about 45 minutes to be seated, which was completely fine as this was the time the hostess quoted when we first walked in. Our drink orders were taken quickly (within 10 minutes of sitting) and we ordered a large pizza at the same time. Things seemed to be running smoothly, and I was surrounded by good company, so it wasn't until about an hour had passed that I noticed there was no food brought to us and our waitress had not come to refill our drinks once. We asked on the status of our pizza and were told that it would be out in just a few minutes, so we decided to wait. 30 minutes later, we still did not have any food. We were not informed of any delays in the kitchen so we were confused as to what was going on. Our waitress informed us that the manager would come up to talk to us in a few minutes and that our food would be out shortly. After about another 20 minutes, we still had no food nor any updates from our waitress or a manager. At this point we were beyond hungry and decided we could not wait any longer, so we left money for the waters we were drinking and left the establishment. This rating does not reflect the quality of the food, as we never received any in the 2+ hours we were at the establishment, but reflects the service, or lack of that we received. read more

I ordered a Greek Salad and a gluten free Veggie Pizza. The salad was fantastic. I was halfway through the pizza as the bartender was cleaning the plastic centerpiece that the napkins and things are kept in. The centerpieces had been removed off the top of the bar and were most likely restocked with supplies before being put back up on the bar as I ate. I noticed a large bug come out from under the centerpiece and race across the top of the bar, weaved in and out of my plate. I tried smashing it 4 times before it went off the back end of the bar and out of site. The bartender was there and watched it unfold. It didn't sink in as to what exactly it was until after it disappeared but it was in fact a cockroach. The bartender looked completely stunned as was I. It was unfortunate because up until that exact moment, I was really enjoying my meal. I felt bad because the service was great and so was the food but the whole experience left me feeling really deflated. read more

Let me start off by saying I have dined at this location 3 times since moving to Columbia and everytime there was an issue. The first time my meal and appetite was interrupted when I noticed a large roach running across the dinning room floor, I then asked for my check. The second time I ordered a ham hoagie and had a hard, black object in my food. When I asked the manager about it, he tried to tell me it was a topping that fell into it. BS, I know toppings and that was an object that if I had digest it, I would have been going to the hospital. The last and final time the service was so slow! It was like the server forgot about us since they placed me and my date isolated from all other guests in the large glass room upstairs. Also how can they charge what they charge for a pizza when they use frozen dough, really? I'll go down to Old Chicago where I can watch them make fresh dough and my pizza! read more
