I my saving grace was that the pizza tasted good. Ordered some to go pizzas and went to pick them up and had one of the worst customers experiences I've come across. After going in the door that looks like where I'm supposed to go to pick up a to go order I followed the signs to the bar area to try and get my food. I was definitely ignored for a good amount of time before the bartender who looked like she was MISERABLE working there came up to acknowledge me. Horrible interaction. Almost no eye contact, and made me feel like a burden more than a paying customer. Her system went down and I wasn't able to sign my receipt right away. Stood there for roughly 20min waiting for my pizzas. After she wandered close enough to the end of the bar that I was at I was able to ask if her if there was an update on my order. Again, she made me feel like an inconvenience after saying she'd check and came back to the bar and didn't say anything to me. About 10min after a guy brought out the pizza. Asked if there was anything else he could do for me. I told him I'm still waiting to pay and sign my receipt for this pizza. He looked really confused so I told him that the girl bartender told me the system was down and she told me to wait, so here I am, still waiting, 30 plus minutes later. He was able to quickly close me out and gave me a receipt to sign which I needed. Had this not been a business expense and If i was a horrible person, I could've walked out with some free pizza, but that being said, in the struggles of what's going on nowadays, I wouldn't want to do that to a business. Bartenders and staff are friendly. They are prompt and attentive. I also enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant. We mostly go to the bar area so we have to order our own food and I don't wait too long before a bartender comes up to me. On Weekend nights, it is usually one of the less crowded bars/restaurants and I definitely recommend coming here if you want something more lowkey. My friends and I love the half off appetizers during their happy hour after 10pm. We will keep coming back here over and over. read more

I had really high hopes for Mellow Mushroom, and I was a little disappointed. Service was okay - definitely not super crappy like others have mentioned. I went for a late-afternoon lunch (about 3PM on a Monday) and the place was pretty dead. That probably had something to do with it. I got a bowl of their mushroom soup ($3.99) that was surprisingly good! I was expecting something a little thinner since the menu mentioned a wine base, but it was very thick. Still tasty. I also ordered the Philosopher's Pie pizza. Pretty disappointed in that one. The steak tasted a little funky. Overall, it just wasn't quite what I had hoped for. The crust was very good - quite possibly the best part. All in all, gourmet prices for pizza that doesn't measure up. The soup was tasty, and I might be back for happy hour. My first Arizona restaurant :) my friend took me here on my first trip to Arizona. The place is really cute and I like the feel of the place. The service was also really good and our waitress was really nice and sociable. My friend who brought us here said she really liked this place so I was excited to try it. We got 2 pizzas, one with steak and mushrooms and one with eggs and prosciutto i believe? (I forget the exact names of them) I was really excited about the egg one but it didn't turn out as good as i thought it was going to be. It was kind of lacking in the flavor department. If there was more garlic or something it would probably be a bit better. The other pizza was alright but nothing anything too spectacular. I want to come back though one day and try out the other pizzas because I feel like I would probably find other pizzas on the menu that i would love. read more

I thought it was better than your average pizza place, and I dig the whole hippie/magic mushroom theme of the place. I have to hand it to our server for being patient with us, as we had the kids with us and they were in full naughty mode. Price-wise, there's better bang for your buck, but kids drinks are free, and that Mellowterranean pizza was worth trying. A favorite pizza chain of mine! I normally do take-out, but I had a great experience dining in today! The place was quiet and the staff was really friendly and attentive but not too in-your-face since they were so slow. Went during happy hour and had $4 20-ounce beers - what a steal! The spinach artichoke dip appetizer was really delicious and during happy hour, all appetizers are half-off. We had the "Great White" pizza, which was delicious as always. It seemed extra greasy tonight, but it seemed like they added a bit of extra oil to the oil base that comes on that particular pizza for some reason. Definitely recommend, especially during normal happy hour from 3pm-6pm on the weekdays or after 10pm for reverse happy hour. read more

Found a Groupon ($20 for $10) and decided to eat here before a gaming night with friends. My husband and I split the wings as an appetizer and split a medium pizza. The wings are described as crispy baked wings on the menu, but they are just baked. No crisp to them BUT they ARE quite tasty (we got BBQ). For the pizza my husband got the house special on his half, and I got the "philosopher's" something on mine. The pizza crust was amazingly buttery crispy and chewy. The house special side was awesome. I didn't care for the philosophers side. I think it was more personal than any mistake of the kitchen. My husband loved it all. Why five stars if the food wasn't perfect? I don't blame the restaurant because I tried and didn't like something I have never tried before. Also, the service was above and beyond, even though our server knew we had a Groupon from the moment we sat down. I have been greeted with horrible attitudes and contempt in the past when it has been made known that I have a Groupon. This guy wasn't phased at all, he didn't treat us any differently from the large group next to us. I'm terribly with names, but he was a bartender and we were in there on Monday 8/31 right after the storm. But it's hard to say something negative when they're right there waiting on you at the bar so I'll say it now. Very very very skimpy on the VG vegan cheese let me say it again very very very skimpy on the vegan cheese and there's an up charge it figured if there's an up charge you get a little bit accredit from the real cheese that they don't use. Way too much crust - you have to mellow that out a bit. People are just going to stop coming. I still like mellow mushroom and will return, maybe this was just a bad day. The pizza chain has an interesting concept but it has a simple menu with standard pizzas that are slightly over priced. The Mill location is cool because it is so close to ASU's campus and the vibe is "mellow." Happy hour deals are appealing but there are so many other choices on Mill Ave that are locally owned bars. The only time this place has a crowd is on game nights for ASU football or if another big athletic event is happening in which case every other bar is packed too. I am not bad-mouthing this restaurant, just pointing out my observations. It is still a great place to go to get your favorite type of pizza at a sit-down restaurant. They also have a lot of cool artwork and murals on the inside. Try counting how many skateboards are incorporated into art pieces and other decor! read more

However with a gun to my head I have to pick the shittake, the alfredo sauce combined with the giant mushrooms was heaven! Had dinner there tonight with my family. The food was very good, but the server put our large pizza on the pizza stand located on the edge of the table. When I lifted a piece of pizza off that was located nearest to me, it towed over and spilled into the floor. The server immediately asked if we wanted a replacement and said she could have a small made. Then, she charged us for the replacement. I didn't put the pizza on the stand and it was clearly not centered. That was pretty crappy. I won't be going back. read more

I ordered a gluten free white pizza. The rest of my party ordered three large pizzas and two orders of wings. All their food came out fine. Fifteen minutes went by and my food still hadn't came out. So I asked, they said they'd check. Came back five minutes later and he tells me my pizza crust hadn't defrosted and if I'd want it to-go.... unacceptable is what I told him. I said I don't want it at all. So i ate carrots and ranch. BUT - he comes back fifteen minutes later with the pizza I ordered and the rest of my party was done and waiting for the check. I had a piece and it was awful and under cooked. Needless to say, they took it off the check, but I will not recommend this place to anyone - ever. Worst service I have ever received. It was completely dead inside, we came on a Tuesday at 7:00. Waited 10 minutes for our server, ordered right away, then waited 25 minutes for 2 appetizers, that when they finally came out, were completely cold. We were trying to catch a movie so couldn't even wait to have them spend another 20 minutes remaking our two items. When we finally got the attention of the server we just explained that it was cold and couldn't wait for a remake. His response was "Ok." Didn't apologize, didn't ask how he could make it up.
