Best pizza we've had in a long time. The crust had that chewy crunchiness that all great pizzas need to have. My kid had a pepperoni with bacon, I had the Mighty Meaty, while my wife and my other kid shared a Holy Shiitake Pie. She said it was the most decadent, most flavorful pizza she'd ever had, and it was polished off. We also had a great Caesar salad with tons of crunchy romaine and garlicky croutons. Amazing food. My family and I ordered online from here for dinner and it was amazing! Their gluten free and vegan options allow something for just about everyone. I only wish their gluten free pizzas came in bigger sizes other than just small. We also received really great customer service when I called to make sure that they knew that my pizza had a gluten allergy. I highly recommend ordering from here. read more

I will admit right off the bat mellow has some good deals and great beer selection which is why I have given them any stars. their late night happy hour is the best deal on mill ave on a week day night right up there with cue clubs drink prices. however that is where the good things stop for this location, this is some of the worst service I have ever received. I have been here on 2 different occasions and both times left a bad taste in my mouth here is just a short list of things that were not satisfying about it , going up to the bar and waiting for service for 5 min when the bar only had 3 other people at it. then waiting another 5 min for my beer having then try and charge me for beers i did not order or drink having them bring more then one person in party (3 to be exact) the wrong beers food taking upwards of 25 min for apps bartenders giving 0 attention even when I am asking about specific beers on tap they do not know descriptions to give me no one in the place made me feel welcome , made me feel they knew anything about their own jobs or products, or even cared to try. its unfortunate cus it is such a great location and I have been to other locations and never had any of these issues. even the manager who came to speak with us about our beers being incorrect and our tab being wrong was rude and seemed like he didnt care , will not be going back to this location. read more

I would love to give this location 5 stars but repeated errors and poor service have dropped my rating. We've been coming here for 3 years and the food is always amazing. Get the Maui waui pizza. It's the best. 3 years ago the service was great, attentive and friendly. Lately it hasn't been that way. Unfortunately our food has been burnt several times or the the bartender has forgotten our food on multiple occasions and we've been served cold food. Isn't there a food runner or a manager watching the expo line to ensure food gets out in a timely manner? Another time we had a server that would come by to check on us, we'd tell her we were ready to order and she promptly walk away. We love the pizzas and pretzels and want to come back more frequently but the service is making us think twice. Just wanted to update our review. The food is amazing and we really enjoy Alexis. The food is okay now, mostly bread and fillers in the sandwiches and all the flavorful menu items I used to love are gone. Pizza is good, so I'd stick to that. Portobello was awful, totally flavorless. And the service... full disclosure this was like a month ago, but we sat at a table for awhile before giving up on service and asking to go to the bar. We got one drink and then sat there without service again until at least 15 minutes after our drinks were finished. Not that the bartender was busy, she had friends at the end of the bar she was sitting there talking to the whole time. We were her only other customers. When I asked if there was any kind of flavor or pesto or anything she could give me for my awful bland, sauce-less sandwich, she said all they had was mayo. It did not help. This is the 3rd time we've dealt with this service and horrible food. I used to love them in Denver so I kept going back, but now we are done. Decent drink prices, and pizza, with awful service. So 2 stars. Maybe they should hire based on qualifications and not cool factor. read more

I'm in town visiting family . So I decided to go ahead and take them out for lunch today . We never been here but we were amazed by the good food , especially the pizza they allow you to customize to your likings . But what really topped the experience off was our server Tamara . She did a great job at giving us suggestions as well as taking care of us all during our visit . She checked up on us , refilled our drink , brought beer samples . They have a good variety of beer , she even mentioned to me about their happy hour which is why I'm coming back . I never had any server ever offer beer samples . That was the best thing ever . I'm not a picky person but the food definitely left something to be desired. It was... meh. The waitress was friendly but provided horrible service. When taking drink orders she took mine and my friend's order and then looked at my teenage son and asked "will water be ok?". He was confused and thrown off by this so he just answered "ok". We waited forever for her to return and when she finally took food orders she again took mine and my friends and then said "will there be anything else?". I recently moved out here from the southeast and have had my fair share of Mellow Mushroom. I couldn't believe there was going to be one this close to me! I love that each one is so different. It's obvious they let them do their own thing, even though it's a chain. Went to the one in Tempe the week it opened. We had to convince our friends that it was worth it for six of us to get two large pizzas, but once they tasted it they understood why. Their specialty pizzas (the gourmet white is my favorite) are amazing and they have the best dough. (I don't know if they do it at this location, but I used to buy just their raw dough to make my own pizza at home- it's that good.) Toppings were generous and fresh. The pizza took a little while to get to us, but what good pizza doesn't? The service was great, too. We let our server know that we were heading to a concert after dinner and he did a great job of keeping the beers coming and getting our checks to us fast, even though they were pretty busy. Great place for Gluten-Free pizza! They actually have a gluten free pizza menu as well as the create your own G-free pizza. The crust is very yummy, & the my pizza was super yum too. I had a pesto base, mozzarella + feta cheese, chicken & sun dried tomato pizza. Will be making future visits here for sure. MM is pretty hip & has a cool skater vibe to it. This place also has a full bar area too as well as many tvs on the wall for game watching. A must try! read more

Mellow Mushroom is a chain that has locations mostly in college towns. I ate at the one in Boone, NC first. I thought the pizza was good, but a bit over priced, but they have a very good craft beer selection. So I gave the one in Tempe a try. I travel into Phoenix for business fairly regularly and eat at the Mushroom on almost every trip because the bartenders - Ariana and Katie - are friendly and efficient. Get there before 6 for happy hour specials. Order a medium pizza or larger and take the leftovers home. They also have reverse happy hour after 10:00pm. My favorite pizza is not one of their specials, but is should be: red sauce, spinach, mushrooms and caramelized onions. They should add it to the menu as it works great with their medium crust read more

I am a big fan of Mellow, so here is the deal I would recommend not eating here unless you called a to go in, or you sat at the bar and did not mind amateur service and long waits. 35 minutes to get our pizza and there are only 3 other tables in the restaurant. Service is amateur, but nice, very slow. Pizza, well it can't be beat, but the toppings were very light. This place has bad management written all over it. It's a shame. Next time I will call in a pick up. However the kitchens manager came out after the bill was dropped and apologized. At least someone there is customer oriented. He was able to turn it around. Hubby and I were on our way to an Escape Room and needed a place to eat. We had a Groupon for this place so we decided to use it last night. For a Friday night, we were surprised they were pretty empty. We were seated right away and the waitress came to take our order. They have an extensive selection of beers and we both decided to order one. They were good although I felt that they could have been a little colder. We decided to start off with a small Enlightened Spinach salad to share. It had fresh spinach topped with chopped apples, dried cherries, and sprinkled with candied pecans and feta cheese. We also chose to add on chicken. The dressing the waitress suggested for it was their signature Esperanza. At first bite it felt like the wrong type of dressing for this type of salad; however, after a few bites the flavors began to meld together and it became quite tasty. We couldn't decide on which pizza to share so the waitress suggested we do half and half which is what we did. Our favorite was the Kosmic Karma. It had a base of red sauce with spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, sliced Roma tomatoes, and finished with both mozzarella and feta cheese. The pesto swirl they finished it with really set it off. For our other half we chose the Funky Q. Chicken. It was covered with BBQ chicken, mozzarella and cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, and Applewood smoked bacon then finished with a BBQ sauce swirl. It was good however I felt that the Applewood smoked bacon overpowered the other flavors. Service was fine and the waitress made sure to check on us regularly. Hubby and I agreed that the food was okay but it is not a place we would go out of our way to visit again. read more

My friends and I ventured to Mill for lunch and shopping yesterday. I've heard a lot of great things about Mellow Mushroom so we had to try it. The selection surpassed my expectations. There are so many options! It was hard to choose what to get. I think our server was slightly annoyed that we took a long time to decide and we had to flag him down a few times to have our drinks refilled but the food was good enough that I can overlook the service. The food was REALLY good. We settled on the pretzels and a BBQ chicken pizza. The pretzels, though closer to twisted bread sticks than a pretzel, were GREAT. The pizza crust was sweet and soft, the chicken was perfect and the BBQ sauce tasted homemade. The place is noisy but the atmosphere is cool. The prices are exactly what you'd expect. The menu is IMPRESSIVE and even though this is obviously a corporate restaurant, it isn't just your average corporate pizza place. read more
