I've been to this place only a couple of times before in Rockville, Maryland. This is my 1st time at this location, Williamsburg, Virginia. It was a beautiful but windy day, and I and I sat outside. The outdide seating was very nice, they even have a spot surrounding a fireplace if you have a large party. The atmosphere was great, and my waiter was awesome, sorry I did not remember his name. We ordered some veggie pizza, pretzel rolls, an artichoke dip, a Greek salad, and a cesaer salad. The menu had various options... me and my guest are very health conscious and we had plenty to choose from. I love wine, with that said the wine that I chose here which was a reisling, and my guest chose a moscato, both were entirely too sweet for our liking but that's OK it is one of those personal preferences so to each its own. All in all, I've always enjoyed this restaurant and this visit at this particular location was not a disappointment and I do recommend if you're out and about in this area and need a quick bite to eat read more

We visited Mellow Mushroom in July 2021. While many restaurants are facing challenges with C-19, Mellow Mushroom was clearly working to provide a great customer experience. Our server, Raegan, went over and above to make sure we were well cared for at our visit. She greeting us with a smile, showed enthusiasm throughout our meal, and checked on us regularly. I mention her first because she was definitely the highlight of our visit and worked hard to ensure we had a great meal. She was the perfect combo of professional and fun! We started with drinks and apps. The "Gone Feral" margarita was probably the best margarita we have ever had. Top notch for sure! We also tried a Jam 'N Juice. A bit sweeter, could not drink a lot of them, but definitely enjoyable. We had a fairly large family group so ordered a few pizzas to try. All came out hot, fresh, and yummy. Everyone was happy with our choice! Overall kudos to Raegan and the entire Mellow Mushroom team. Great food, great service, and right down-town Williamsburg near Colonial Williamsburg. My family and I have been to mellow mushroom a few times in different locations and we've always enjoyed the food. This location was the same. The waitress Diamond was very friendly and attentive. I love that there is an option for everyone. My dad is gluten free and I'm dairy free and they had options for us. We both made our own pizza; one with gluten free crust and one with dairy free cheese. The regular crust was delicious! The pricing is average for the location with specialty pizza around $25 for a large. The beer list is pretty extensive as well. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star was because the waitress or bartender kept messing up the beer order. The first round the beer was correct but they dropped it off at all the wrong seats. The second round, they brought the wrong beer. That said, I would absolutely go back to this location! read more

Came in last night for pizza. Checked in with Yelp. Got a free order of pretzel bites. Score!! Have to confess best part of the meal!!!!!! They were cooked perfect and a little doughy. Yum! Smothered in Parmesan cheese and garlic. Is your mouth watering yet? Served with beer cheese for dipping. So good! Pizza had the same soft crust without the Parmesan cheese. Great pizza. First one I've ever had that puts big pieces of freshly cooked bacon on pizza. Whole tomato slices look pleasing to the eyes. Don't get me started on that stretchy cheese. Was told they have Mellow Mushrooms across US. I definitely will be watching for them. Would eat here again. Affordable. Very clean. Unique decor. Friendly staff. Updated Review: 2 of us dining, late lunch / early dinner. Not too hungry, so we ordered a small Funky Q chicken pizza. The server (not our waiter) brought us a medium pizza. Figured it was just a mistake, decided to let it slide. We really enjoyed the pizza, nonetheless. We also enjoyed the nice heaters in the outside area. Our server didn't give us an itemized receipt so we had no way of knowing exactly what happened (we were in a hurry and didn't call attention to it). But the manager really seems to care about the customer's happiness; upon reading the review, he definitely made it right for us. We will be back! read more

The pizza is okay. I tried the chicken parm sandwhich & it was a joke. The chicken was diced & tasted microwaved. Came with chips.. This place, I thought was going to be pretty good. I mean it's a Mellow Mushroom. I have never had a problem with them, ever! They have always been attentive and on spot. Well....not this time! This time I was very disappointed in this service and food. I couldn't believe it. We were seated very attentively at 5:07pm. The waitress then took our food and drink orders by 5:11pm. I thought, yes! A great food night. Well as we were waiting our children were getting rambunctious. I checked at it was 40 minutes past the time were ordered and no appetizers or pizza! I know your thinking, well they were busy; no not at all! People were seated after us got their food before us. Two pizzas!. Well after complaining we got our food. The pizza bites looked nothing more than bits of dough made to look like pretzels. The spinach dip was really good, great big spinach in each bite as well as artichoke! The only thing is that they need to give more bread with each order. The pizzas were ok but under cooked. There was still raw spots of dough on the pizza. We are around it cause we didn't want to wait for a new one. The manager did give us free appetizers for our trouble. That was nice but hardly from rectifying all the problems. Visited Williamsburg on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and noticed a newly opened Mellow mushroom. Setting wA beautiful; however food was less than desirable. Ordered The Veg out pizza recommended by server. Probably the worst pizza I have ever had. Not sure you can even call what veggies were on a crust as there was no structure. Nothing but floppy dough, the Thai wings were not bad would have been better if skin was crispy. Server was pleasant but definite busier than she expected. Definitely not going back. read more

Although a chain restaurant, we think the pizzas are very good. My husband always orders the house special pizza with a variety of ingredients. Since I have dietary restrictions, I order the Holy Shitaki pizza with a garlic and olive oil base, a variety of mushrooms, cheeses, truffle oil, garlic aioli and chives which I have become addicted to! There are several very good pizza places in the area, but this is the first restaurant I've found with such a delicious non-traditional pizza! read more

Came in one rainy night for dinner hoping that there wouldn't be a line...but there still was. Thankfully, we didn't have to wait as long as they initially informed us. We ordered a regular one-topping pepperoni pizza (very good!) and we went with the Pacific Rim (which is like an elevated Hawaiian pizza!). This was my favorite of the two and we were glad we went "adventurous". For a family of two adults and two young pizza-loving children, we could have just ordered 2 medium-sized pizzas instead of ordering one large and one medium. The food was pretty standard for this place, doesn't change much wherever you go. Service was good, our waitress and the manager were very nice. I had 3 issues though: 1) the apples in my salad tasted like chemicals 2) part of a wet paper towel in my salad??? I pulled it out of the bowl on my fork. It was most definitely a wet torn up paper towel. 3) the kitchen put everything my grandfather asked to NOT put on there, on his cheese steak. We went on a busy Sunday around dinner and were seated inside per our request with our toddler in tow. Very friendly service from both the hostess and server. We ordered our beer and meals all right away when she came to the table. Our toddlers meal came out first and then our dinners. They ran out of avocado so the two meals we ordered were kind of squashed since they both had avo in them. Finally had to get up and find our server to ask where our beers were and she said she has been waiting for them at the bar?! Pizza was amazing but Cobb salad was strange without any egg or avocado. Mellow Mushroom has been our go to restaurant for the past 6 years. Any state we visit, we have always got great service. The main reason is because my wife has celiac disease so we eat Gluten Free House Special which is our favorite and Gluten Free Beer which every MM has available until today in Williamsburg. The first MM in I don't know how many did not have a GF Beer like "Omission" which is a MM favorite. The alternative is Corona which is below the PPM which makes it gluten free. So far the best selection of GF Beer at any restaurant is Mellow Mushroom in Sarasota, Florida. read more

We were starving and we just happened to try this place. We have never heard of Mellow Mushroom, but we love pizza. We had to wait for a table, but it was worth the wait. They waiters were so helpful and friendly and so accommodating to get us what we wanted. The pizza crust is so delicious and crispy and soft on the inside. I ate dinner here with my family. The pizza was good and they had a good beer selection. We got the Thai pizza and their Pacific Rim pizza (a spicy bacon version of a Hawaiian pizza). Both were tasty and had a good crust. The kids meatball meal was not that good. The meatballs were very dense and were served room temperature. They also come skewered and halved and have a slice of mozzarella in between the two halves, which I found to be a fun and creative idea for kids. However, I never heard of a kids meatball meal served without pasta but got it anyway as my kid really wanted the meatball. She only ate about 1/2 of 1 of the 2 meatballs. So not that good. She did eat all of her apple slices, which accompanied the dish. We also ordered wings and they were average. The carrot served with the wings were dry. The Greek salad was very good and the goat cheese on it was super fresh. The decor was also very cool and artistic. I really enjoyed the interior design of the place. It was very vibrant. Pretty good pizza. I ordered the garlic Parmesan wings they were ok, a little dry and over cooked but still ok. Pizza was good but the regular crust is really doughy and heavy. I ordered the Holy Shatake pie it was good but I wasn't blown away. I wish there were more mushrooms and my pie had no caramalized onions in it. I think for the next time I will order the thin crust style pizza. We also ordered the Buffalo pie, it was pretty good. We would come back to try other things on the menu. A great surprise! While doing a short stay in Williamsburg the family and I came across a great surprise. It was called the Mellow Mushroom. One evening during our stay we had a late night urge for a pizza. GPS said Mellow Mushroom was very close. The surprise comes in when instead of finding some small pizza shack we found a place with great attitude, atmosphere and the best pizza we have tasted in many moons. Rickies attitude set the tone for a great experience. She took our orders (both) nights and was very welcoming. Oh, and it's also a terrific tavern of sorts. A nice bar, friendly bar tender and a mellow clientele. Thank you for the great meals. This place makes me want to move to Williamsburg. My family had a nice evening eating dinner on their patio. We didn't have pizza, but instead had some appetizers. We had their soft pretzel, bruschetta, spinach-artichoke dip, meatballs and wings. I hadn't been to an MM in years, and this was the first time I'd been to the Williamsburg location. Things were a little crazy for so early on a Saturday evening, but by 5pm the staff were already hustling to fill all the orders in a timely fashion. I'm not sure if the dining room was closed due to health protocols or a lack of waitstaff, but the hostess took the time to address every customer individually, and made sure we were all OK with carrying our "to-go" orders out to the patio. The pizza was just as good as I remember, so that's a plus. Here's hoping for less-crazy days ahead! read more
