I think a Reuben is a good test to see if a deli is worth going back to, and the Jewish Mother's Deli makes a very good one. It was loaded with corned beef and was still warm but not soggy, surviving the drive home. The staff are friendly and quick. I only had a short wait before my sandwich was ready. Any longer and I would have caved and gotten a slice of cake from the dessert case I was ogling while I waited. I'll definitely be back for another Reuben, but also to try their breakfast sandwiches and latkes. read more

They've only been open about a week or so, but they seem off to a good start. I ordered an everything bagel (not toasted) with horseradish cheddar schmear. I also ordered a slice of the cinnamon babka and a slice of mixed berry cake. I enjoyed the babka the most out of everything and just wish the slice was bigger. The cake was good, and the schmear on the bagel was thiiick. I'd love to go back and try their deli sandwiches sometime. The tuna was calling my name! It's a takeout area in the old Blackbird Bakery within Merchant's Square. There's plenty of outdoor seating in the square if you want to immediately eat. Prices were overall reasonable and the wait time on Sunday afternoon was not bad at all. read more

Only open a week so we had to try. Downside: only takeout. Both sandwiches were good size. However... My bagel with lox was so overloaded with cream cheese that it was all you could taste. My wife ordered the egg salad on challah bread. She got plain white toast. Egg salad was bland and needed seasoning. Was hopeful, but maybe after a few weeks things will improve. read more

Just a Deli without any dine in options. Order and go. Hubby got the lox bagel (everything) while I got the egg salad on toasted bread. Fast counter service. It's a very small Deli, so as customers filtered in I found myself squished. We brought our meals back and we were not impressed because the bread was supposed to be Challah but it tasted like toasted white bread. A generous amount of lettuce but the egg salad was not seasoned. Hubby's meal was a small amount of lox and lots of cream cheese so the ratio was off. Again no seasoning. This Deli has been opened for two weeks as of my review. They are open from 10 am-4 pm seven days a week. Doubt we will return. Parking is a lot that serves multiple restaurants and shops in Merchants Square. Got lucky when we found one spot. read more

I may be a bagel snob. I didn't really like the taste of their onion bagels. I don't know how to describe the difference. They are big bagels though. The best bagels are in Charlottesville--Bodos bagels. I suggest The Jewish Mother take a trip and try what many consider to be the best bagels ever! I have no affiliation other than I'm a frequent customer of Bodos. The service was very good. Especially since I had a credit gift card that had to be entered manually. The staff were patient. It's a grab and go place. So scope out a place to sit outside if you want to eat right away. read more

A truly outstanding addition to this great town. We happened to be spending a few days in Williamsburg and found this place on yelp, so glad we did. We spent all night dreaming about what we'd get for breakfast. I landed on the mensch which was pastrami with a runny egg on a bagel and my wife got the deli breakfast, a classic. Both were truly fantastic, great portions of each wonderful ingredient, and the bagels were top-notch. read more

A small quick Takeout only bagel deli that has great bagel options! I was super excited to find a real bagel store that was easily accessible and in our normal visit areas when we head to Williamsburg. I love real bagels but down where we're at there's not really many options. I love that. There is parking right there and it is super inconvenient as well as the quality of the bagels which are really good! I was there when they just opened earlier that week or the one before so I'm not sure if they were ready for the big deluge of customers incoming. Service is a little slow, but you could tell the workers are trying their hardest to get everyone's order in a timely and fair manner. Absolutely amazing bagels! They are big and chewy and crispy outside. The Classic Lox was to die for and the lox was high quality. My mom got an Everything bagel with veggie spread and it was a packed with veggies and so fresh. Everyone should check out this place. read more

It is great to have mothers in Williamsburg, good bagels, soup and sandwiches. I perhaps over wished when I heard they were coming though...I was hoping for a "real" kosher sit down deli where I could get a lox platter for breakfast or chopped liver and corn rye for brunch with a sky high pastrami and pickles on the table like Katz in NY. Unfortunately no. Mothers is a take out a bit expensive considering portion size and paper plates to go. I hope they or someone goes to a major city to see what a real Deli is and open one in Williamsburg. read more

Really good sandwiches and very friendly staff! My family had the turkey club, bagel with egg and sausage, and tuna melt and all were good. There's no place inside to sit but lots of tables in the pedestrian mall where you can sit and eat. I'd definitely recommend stopping by. read more

Food was mediocre. Bagels were basic like what you get at the grocery store. Scones were horribly dry. The cookies were good.

Despite their claims of being a New York-style deli they fall way short. Their corned beef is thin-sliced lunch meat, not carved brisket. You can make the same sandwich a lot cheaper by getting the fixins in a grocery store. read more

I recently saw this place had recently opened, hoping it would be reminiscent of the old Jewish Mother at VA Beach. It was not. That said, it is a decent takeout Jewish Style takeout sandwich and bagel shop. PROS: Good size sandwiches (had the small), 5-6 varieties of bagels, prompt service, very good sandwich prices. CONS: The corned beef and the pastrami did not have much flavor. In particular, the corned beef seemed to be the "round" cut, not brisket cut as a proper Jewish style should be. The pastrami had very little seasoning. In my opinion (I didn't ask) they are using food service grade (think Sysco) meats. Perhaps that accounts for the very reasonable pricing. Hope I'm wrong! All in all, it was OK, just do not expect a NY deli experience. read more

Finally GOOD BAGELS in Williamsburg! Got a bagel with scallion cream cheese and was given PLENTY of cream cheese whereas you get very little at other places. Everything tasted super authentic and delicious. Husband got "the Mench" breakfast sandwich and the pastrami was so good. This will definitely be our new go to quick brunch spot! read more

There are no words to describe how fabulous The Jewish Mothers deli is in Williamsburg, VA. The service, sandwiches, bagels, and warm and inviting ambiance are served on a platter! We were on our way back to Boston, and Samantha made us absolutely delicious turkey club sandwiches for our long drive home. And don't get me started on their delicious, authentic jewish deli bagels. I was excited to find the hard to find pumpernickel bagel, and bought several to take home. Samantha also provided another display of outstanding service, when she individually wrapped the other delectable bagels, including onion, everything, sesame and plain bagels, to ensure they would stay fresh during our long trek home. If you are looking for warm, friendly, outstanding service, coupled with mouth watering delicious sandwiches, and a true authentic Jewish NY deli bagel, look no further-The Jewish Mothers is the real deal!
