This was the first time we went to the Melody dive in theater. I had gone to drive in as a kid with my family as I lived in a town that had three plus three inside ones. So lots of places to see movies growing up. The two guys that were with me had never been to one before. So it was a new thing for them. Plan to go again sometime. Nice grounds well keep up. Prices were very good. To get in and for any food or drinks. Nice selection to choose from. Gray for date night or family putting. read more

A great outdoor theater! The grounds were very neat, trimmed and clean. Admission lower than other theaters, $9 for 11+, $7 for seniors and $5 under 11 years old and admission and refreshment stand takes credit cards for a dollar surcharge. The drive-in got packed with families, not 'Grease' want to be's. The food was excellent, from the cheeseburger to chicken tenders to popcorn. The refreshment stand was very preserved historical 1950s but very clean and efficient, prices about the same as any fast food restaurant but with better quality. As throughout history, everyone waited until just before the movie started to create a line for refreshments. Get them early!!! The digital projection was excellent. Rest rooms were clean but very small. Once they pay off what must be like a mortgage on those outrageously expensive digital projectors my only suggestion is to enlarge and modernize the rest rooms. It's nice being in the wide open watching a movie. Show your grandkids how they have two screens set with different movies, and since this is one of only a few with "speakers wired to a post" remaining, let the youngsters figure out what they are. If you want stereo high fidelity, the audio is available on your car FM radio. If you don't want to keep your car ON or running, bring a portable stereo FM radio. They do have assistance there if you find your car battery was weak and you need a jump. Here's my big advice before you go to any drive-in: read your car owners manual and learn how to disable (a) headlights (usually a switch); (b) Daytime Running Lights (DRL) (usually apply parking brake then start engine); (c) the vehicles dashboard lights and navigation screens etc. before you leave home. It's not easy to figure out in the dark where you don't want to be disturbing others with experimentation. read more

Two nights ago, me and my girlfriend decided that it would be a fun birthday date since I've never been and she loves the place. It was an amazing experience.. until my car died. I tried to start it and it just would not turn over.. turns out you shouldn't leave you car's audio running alongside ventilation WITHOUT something charging the battery. Go figure. So, of course, I'm working on everything trying to get something to work since we no longer had audio and were parked very slightly out of reach of the speaker so we couldn't use that either. I ran up to the concession stand and asked if someone could possibly jump me, and one of the ladies working that night asked me if I could come back either at the end or in the intermission and they'd gladly take their jump pack out and get my car running. In my head, this seemed alright since at the time, my car wouldn't turn over but I still had audio. I thanked her and went back. 2-3 minutes later, car audio dies, so there I go back to the stand. Explain my situation, and she immediately starts looking for their jump pack. Around about 8 minutes go by, when she finally comes back and says that her husband ended up borrowing it since he's having battery issues with his car, so she was looking for jumper cables. I was lucky enough to say I had some in the back of my car. She said great and swiftly we were off in her car to get us back up and running. Being the greatest man of all, I, of course, only knew a small bit about jumping a car, but luckily she knew from experience. After a while of having to climb through my back door to the back hatch (my electronic lock was dead in the water, of course) I got my cables and 1, 2, 3! We were back up and running. I asked her if she worked there or owned the place and she ended up being one of the owners! I never caught her name, but she was one of the nicest people I've stumbled across and she didn't think twice about helping out in our time of need. It seemed like to me that she was most worried about us and our experience at Melody, and not the inconvenience to her. This really proved me that the service there was above and beyond and I will be back as often as I can, this is a small business that I'm glad to say that I proudly support! Clean, pleasant drive-in. Concession treats were affordable and well done. Bathroom ran out of toilet paper, and instead of replacing the paper they just closed the stall (??). No intermission time between first and second showing, we needed a break between movies and waiting in line for concessions made us late to the start of the second movie. We got blinded by someone's headlights behind us multiple times, even asking them to stop and no employee interference. Then, during the movie, the owner I assume had an altercation with a customer, telling him "f*** you, get off my property!". We later were approached by the same gentleman who complained about our front and back lights being on (although I had the front ones covered and was in the first row, but okay). A review under construction... initial thoughts. I went to this drive in theater on 7/26/2010 because I liked the double feature playing - Salt / Knight and Day. I justified driving the distance as I had some errand to run in Hammond, what's another 60 or so miles ? When purchasing your ticket you get a flier with the current features, a menu, and a list of the rules of the theater. I was surprised at the effort that it felt like free shwag. I still remember the old days when you could buy a glossy program/magazine that was paired with the movie. With their inclusion of a printed menu, you can budget how much the snacks are going to cost you, your date, or family. I wasn't sure which screen was showing my features and asked the pleasant ticket seller. Once I entered I was surprised that there were already cars there as the weather was raining off and on. The snack bar was modern and reminded me of a standard fast food restaurant counter. They had a few more things than other drives I've been too such as spicy chicken wings. Which I ordered and were decent. It seemed a little disorganized behind the counter but maybe it was a new crew being broken in due to the horrible weather. This was made up by different staff who wanted to make sure that I had been assisted. I was so impressed with the friendly service and offerings I was considering the purchase of a T-Shirt. Unfortunately they did not have black in my size. They are only $9.00. The other drive ins could learn lessons from this one. Make a flier what is playing (how hard is a laserjet printout). Bend over backwards to help the customers. And a bit of friendly banter over the radio/speakers before starting the show. One of my annoyances with "another drive in" is that they make the snack bar updates/announcements about 10 minutes in the second movie. Sure its great that everything cooked has been discounted to $1 but I wish they would do it without 10 seconds of dead air before and after the announcement. read more

This place is near perfect. Clean bathrooms, reasonable concession prices, not too many rules, very enjoyable. We live an hour away from here and gladly make the drive. I can't bring myself to go to triway when this place seems better. read more

One of the best places to go to get 2 movies for the price of 1. I would recommend taking your family here it's a great outdoor escape for the summer and everyone there is very friendly and helpful. read more

I have never been disappointed in my experiences going to this drive in movie theater. It is well-maintained, the people who work there are friendly and helpful, the price is right ($9 for two movies!) and the concession stand is unrivaled. I highly suggest the breadsticks and donuts. Bring bug spray though, it's the one downside. read more

Really cool drive in theater. It was my first time at a drive in. I enjoyed it. The movie starts at like sundown. They have a place to get food like pretzels, popcorn, nachos, etc. The screen is pretty big and you can hook up the sound inside your car. I didnt want to get chewed up by the mosquitos outside although allot of people were outside watching the movie with no problem on the hood of the car or set up like a picnic with folding chairs. It was a nice experience. Ive only seen drive ins on movies a couple going to a drive in on a date start makin out lol maybe ill try that next time ;) hehe read more

Love this place! Friendly staff, concession prices are reasonable, yet they still let you bring in your own food with no issues. We usually do both, bring our own snacks,but still go to the concession stand for the awesome breadsticks and cheese fries. Was there this last weekend to watch Aladdin, and as always it was nice and clean, food was great, staff was friendly and they even supply you with a bag for your trash when you get your program and tickets. read more

We've been coming to Bass Lake for nearly 30 years, and this is one of the best parts about the lake! Ticket and food prices are reasonable (especially because you get a double-feature), but you can also bring in your own food and drinks. Awesome! The nostalgia/experience of going to a drive-in movie theater is wonderful. We love taking friends here. read more
