Vanilla Ice Cream
Kayla B.

The place wasn't even open yet and I experienced the best customer service in Indiana. Extremely personal and kind staff with amazing tasting ice cream. One experience guaranteed that I will be coming back.

One scoop vanilla cone...yummo!

Come get your small town, creamy frozen custard here! The prices are reasonable and the custard is fresh and yummy. My husband had a green river float, while I enjoyed a simple cone. They offer lots of different custard desserts along with a menu of food items. Next time I'm in the area - I'll try the turtle sundae for sure.

Sycamor menu. Not just ice cream any more. Food options!

This place has slowly gotten better over the past several years. Owned by a Indiana policeman, his wife seems to do the managing and the menu and service has gotten better and better. Prices are very reasonable, the food selection has grown and has some interesting choices. And from the beginning their custard has been excellent. Nice place to stop for a bite and some ice cream!

Cheeseburger with everything, but mayo, X-Crispy Waffle Fries, and a Blueberry & Banana smoothie...love it!

The best food, best waffle fries I've ever eaten. The ice cream, frozen yogurt, and CUSTARD are the BEST. I love just about everything they have to offer...their Bubba's are amazing and their selection of toppings is awesome! Love the Burgers, Hot Dogs, and especially the Waffle Fries.

They do have a drive through here. Yes there is no menu but you can ask for one to look over at the window.

This place is only open seasonally as most ice cream places are. The hours and the months are in one of the pictures I took. They have around 4 or 5 picnic tables for outside seating. They do allow pets as well. They have the biggest selection out of any ice cream place around. The service was good better than usual!

Drive thru takes forever, food takes like 25 mins to make, and overpriced, but atleast the food is somewhat food.

The custard at sycamore is to die for! Hands down the best ice cream in NWI. Must try the hot turtle sundae. Yum!

I visited the Red Barn Milk Bar after fueling up at the BP next door because nothing says "road…read moretrip" like a gas station snack followed by a dairy detour! I haven't been to Fair Oaks in years, but wow, I'm glad my stomach convinced me to stop. Service is usually 5/5, think Olympic-level milkshake handoffs, but today it felt more like a relay race where everyone forgot to grab the baton. When I walked in, a family of four was waiting for their milkshakes and ice cream. Apparently, the ice cream was being churned by hand or maybe by a cow on break because it took a while. I wandered around and set my sights on a grilled cheese. I hovered at the order counter, channeling my inner cheese magnet, but nobody appeared. So, I shuffled over to the ice cream side, where the same family was still mid-sundae saga. I waited (patiently, like a saint in line for a miracle), but not even a "be right with you!" from the staff. One young lady was making ice cream magic for the family, while another wiped things down with the intensity of someone training for the Clean Olympics, but neither said a word. Two more families came in with their kids; clearly, this is THE spot for a post-gas snack. One of the young ladies finally approached, looking like she'd rather be anywhere else. I ordered my shake (victory!) and, remembering my grilled cheese dreams, asked about it. She told me I had to order at the other counter, so off I went again. Still, no one was there, so I peeked around the pick-up window and spotted someone hiding (maybe from me, maybe from the cheese). Finally, order placed! My small grilled cheese, perfect snack size, was secured, and I headed home, adventure complete. Overall, I'm giving them a 3/5 this trip, mostly for the "Where's Waldo?" staff experience. But normally, service is top-notch, and I'm optimistic it'll bounce back. If you haven't visited, check them out. It's a whole vibe, great for families, plus a hotel, restaurant, and even tours. Where else can you chase a milkshake with a side of mystery and a dash of dairy drama?
