I've been going up to Lytle Creek for years and somehow never realized this place was actually a bar. I've stopped at the market next door plenty of times, but never made the connection between the two. A friend suggested checking it out the other day, so I finally decided to give it a try. It turned out to be a really cool little spot. There's nothing particularly fancy about it, but that's part of the charm. The atmosphere feels very homey and laid back, with a small town vibe that makes it oddly comforting to hang out in. In a way, places like this remind you that there are still these simple, tucked away spots that feel completely different from the busy world around them. Another big plus is the price of the beer. It's very affordable, which is always appreciated. They don't have anything on tap, but they offer a good selection of bottled beers. I didn't try the food this time since I wasn't hungry, but the waitress was friendly and welcoming throughout my visit. Overall, it was a cool and unexpected find. I'm glad I finally stopped in and would definitely come back next time I'm up in Lytle Creek. read more

This restaurant is located in an area called Scotland. There were some parking spots outside of the restaurant on the side. There is a small store inside the restaurant selling random items. It feels like a cabin up in the mountain, and it is very cozy. The patio outside has cute decorations, and it would be nice to eat outside on a warm day. We ordered the mountain cheese burger, and a cheddar burger melt. Both items came with fries. Portion was huge. The burger patties were well cooked, but not overcooked. The cheese and burger were a perfect match! I was able to finish the melt on my own! The lady who served us was very friendly, and she was very attentive. I was happy that I was able to have a meal in Scotland without getting on the plane. read more

Melody's is a Tiny, Kitschy bar& grill in a small mountain town. I have passed by it many times over the years, but this is the first time I stopped in to eat. The food was pretty good, but service is defiantly slow. So sit back, relax with drink and watch the game on TV because staff is limited but friendly. I got the Chicken Cheddar melt with Cole slaw and dang if that wasn't the best Cole Slaw I ever ate!! The sandwich was crispy and tasty and more then I could eat. My companions got cheeseburgers with fries. The fries were just okay but the burgers were good. The decor is an eclectic clutter mix of country, history and left over holiday decor. We even got an impromptu guitar performance from a guy sitting at the bar playing little Hotel California :) For such an isolated little market/dinner combo I was surprised the food was so good. Service is terrible. We walked in and we're told to sit wherever we wanted. We took a booth and and waited and waited and finally got menus, which, by the way, were sticky. Then other people arrived and got menus right away and a beverage right away. There were two women who appeared to be in charge. You don't have to doll up to be a server, but you could at least make the customers feel like you'd showered and cared about your appearance a little bit. Finally, one of them said to the other, oh, there's a table over there.And she looked at us and walked away. That's when we decided to leave. It was going to be a slow business, and we were very unimpressed. By the way, the store is just full of temu stuff that looks like it was left over from a yard sale. read more

I wanted to love this place due to the charm. I can give so much credit on the decor and set up. Like some former reviews -we too waited 1 hour for two hamburgers and frozen store bought fish n chips. I'm patient. What I am not patient or should I say confused on.. if the locals / customers sometimes help or actual workers? Instead of helping in the kitchen we saw 3 women who were pounding drinks sitting on the stools back and forth from the bar to the kitchen. I was surprised to see one of the rowdy ladies finally serving our food and almost knocking my drink over (luckily was finished due to waiting for an hour) she still didn't remove the empty bottle from the table. She then hopped back to the bar to continue drinking with her purse dangling off the chair. I was confused. I'm guessing if the women who do work here didn't partake so much on lingering with the locals and drinking heavily the service could be good and food would be served. This is a drinking spot not ideal for food unless you have major time to kill. But at that, maybe if you aren't a local you may not be served a beverage either unless you flag them down from flirting with the men at the bar or them going back and forth to the patio to smoke and drink. I get it, it's a local spot where people know each other in town/mountain but it's still a public eatery. If customers come and place an order then it's go time.. Customers first. read more

Happened to be in the area and decided to stop by for some lunch. There were only a couple of people sitting at the bar and all the tables were open so they let us sit anywhere we wanted. The whole restaurant has an homey-kitschy vibe and is actually pretty cute inside. We ordered the cheese sticks, fries, a BLT and a cheesesteak sandwich. The cheese sticks were delicious and the marinara was good as well. The BLT was your average BLT (hard to go wrong there) and the salad along with it was good and had good toppings. The cheesesteak sandwich looked good, but my fiancé said it was a little salty. Service was great and everyone was super nice, although our servers shift must have ended and we just watched her leave and didn't say anything, and no one came to us to check on us or anything. It's a small place so no biggy we just walked up to the bar for a box and to pay. Glad we stopped by and if you're looking for a quick, inexpensive, average diner bite to eat, you can't go wrong! read more

This place looks like someone opened up their living room and dining room and fit inside as many dining tables and chairs as they could. It has such a home-y feel, but was a tad awkward for us with how empty it was around our 5:30pm arrival time. I got the chicken cheddar melt, which was the waitress' recommendation and it was so delicioussssss. My husband got the mushroom burger (mushrooms on a regular meat burger) and enjoyed it. The fries were probably the frozen-in-a-bag kind, but that's fine. Main downside is how long it took to get our food - 23 minutes after ordering (even though there were only a couple other customers). It was interesting to see how small-town the place was. We stopped here out of pure serendipity. .y husband wanted a picture of himself in a kilt in front of a sign that said "Scotland ". It's like a cross between a little country store, a city old roadside bar and grille, and an antique store. Delightful ambience. The burgers were THE BEST we've had in a long time. I had the mushroom, and the mushrooms were sauted fresh, not canned. Big slice of tomato. Husband had bacon burger. Both were cooked to perfection. Met Gramma, Debbie, and others. Poor service for groups. Before writing this review myself and friends visited this place 3 times. First time was not to bad, 6 of us had to wait 35 minutes for our food. Second time was a nightmare, we came with a large group and it took almost 2 1/2 hours to get our food. We had done that sat outside and some that sat inside with the bulk of our group outside. This that sat inside were served and paying their bill and they heard the kitchen say they had not even started the outside groups food. Those of us outside watched as people came, ate and left ahead of us. The outside group numbered about 20 so I can understand that they did not have the ability to handle such a large crowd. By the time meals started coming out 1 by 1 most of the outside crew had left to go eat elsewhere. The staff kept making promises but broke them all. I personally spoke to the owner and she apologized and asked that our group give them another chance. We are a motorcycle enthusiast club that ride all over the area and love breakfast rides. We have anywhere from 5-30 that ride on any given Saturday or Sunday. I can only imagine that with the large group we had the amount of money they lost that day. So that leads us to yesterday. A small group of us, 7 riders, decided to give the place another chance as asked! We called when they opened and let them know we would be there. Only 7 people and we sat at the same table we did the very first time. There was one other table with a family of 5 who sat right before us but other than that it seemed slow. We received our drinks and our menus pretty quick,l and they seemed fairly attentive to us but it went downhill from there. We sat at 8:20, gave orders at 8:35 and by 9:30 still had not received our food nor had we had any refills. The host and the waitress spent all their time hanging out with the folks at the bar. I watched as others received good service ahead of us. The party if 5 ordered and received their food, ate and paid their bill before the kitchen even began to focus on us. I watched several come in, order, eat and leave while we were sitting. Now, we were in no real hurry at first. We were enjoying the conversations and visiting but after 40 minutes it was getting a bit annoying. I walked over to the bar and asked our waitress if she knew how much longer and she told me the meals were on the way out. Well she came back a few times to tell us the same thing while we sat there. We had done that we're just about to leave when food came out. We finally left at 10:30 after finally getting our meals. Problems, they served locals and made many meals to go before even beginning cooking our meals. My thoughts, if your a local they give you great service if they don't know you be prepared to wait unless your a party of 4 or less. Food is excellent when you finally get it. Atmosphere is awesome Service for outsiders is so bad it is like they do not want outside business. We are a group of approx 130 in our local chapter alone and we have a list of places we like to ride too. We get together and set rides every 4 months and it appears we have to take this one off of our list. I give the place 3 stars instead of 1 because the food and atmosphere. They lose the rest for the poor service. Promises broken for us so we can't return. read more

What a great little place to eat! Close to Mountain Lakes campground. Has a bar (lots of friendly locals on a Saturday) and food with definite YUM factor! The hubby had an awesome Hot Pastrami sandwich on Kaiser Roll, and BIG onion rings! I had one of their newer sandwiches - Mushroom, beef and ooo-so-melty cheese! I had the fries...a HUGE helping!! Went twice, Saturday morning when a table of 8 local family was there.... Honestly the owner with the stunning east coast high set hair (stunning and all in white) she looked exactly like my Grammy/ memere back home in Rhode Island ! I loved my breakfast, and they met my special needs (physical) without a blink or a question. Went today and it was crickets. I thought because I woke up late. I was gonna hit peak breakfast hour. Nobody was there yet. I had two bloody Mary's wonderful service allowed me to pace myself, I was in no rush, and when you come out here, you shouldn't be in a rush. Thank you for the family and home experience across the country. It brought tears to my eyes when I got in my car and another gentleman who was on his way in with an American flag T-shirt. All in black greeted me so beautifully as a woman on my own with my small dog Who helps me every day This was one of the best human experiences I've had in the last three years. Thank you Melody. Went with a group of friends- our first time. They had spoke with them a week in advance and told them a large party would be coming in. The morning of, someone in our group called and told them the number of people in our group. It took us about an h hour and a half to get there to set up for us yet nothing was ready. We had to literally help move dirty picnic tables, chairs makeshift benches etc and yet part of our group ate inside. Our waitress took all the orders outside that took 10 minutes and I don't know what happened to them because we saw people who came after us AND OUR GROUP INSIDE leave before we even found out over an HOUR LATER that they HAD NOT EVEN STARTED OUR FOOD YET!!! When I informed our waitress I needed our food within 20 minutes as we had an event to get to she assured me that it would not be a problem When the group found out that we had just wasted 70 minutes a majority got up to leave she then said she was going to get more help for THE ONE COOK so the others left for another place. We decided to stay with a few others as she assured us that they were working on our meal. Fast forward another 35 minutes she brought one couples meal out.. but not ours. Ten minutes go bye then a few more.. This is past my 20 minute mark. Another 20 we got up to leave and she yells- "your food is ready NOW". We won't be back, as well as our whole group.
