Sea Bright - Their coffee was good, but my friend and I's bowls were literally ice shards, completely tasteless. And the fruit tasted mushy and old. We think they mixed up the temperatures of where they keep their food. The bases should be turned down and the fruit turned up. Very disappointing for the amount of money spent. We ended up throwing out both our bowls with only a few bites taken out. I'll come back for the coffee but will think twice next time before I order a bowl. read more

Melonhead is what every acai shop should strive for. I love acai. I love that the craze has finally reached New Jersey. However, I do feel like most of these "chains" just dump in the sugar. An acai bowl does not need to be so sweet. Melonhead captures that perfectly. They come across as the least sweet along with the freshest ingredients. Couple that with the location (right across from the beach) and the staff and we have a winner. Melonhead is without a doubt the top acai shop in Jersey so far. Take a trip into Sea Bright and stop here...especially if you've been going to Playa Bowls or Frutta Bowls. read more

Found this spot on a recent trip to Sandy Hook. I'm a big fan of these new fruit bowl locations, as these bowls are healthy and delicious. I ordered the "Mucho Mango", which came with acai, oats, coconut flakes, strawberries, honey, and of course mangoes. This of course was pleasure to enjoy on a sunny, 81 degree day. I would have liked for the cashier to be friendlier, at least to crack a smile. The interior was colorful and vibing with music. There are seats and tables inside and outside. Parking may be a challenge near the area during summer months, but worth it. When in the area I'll def go back. read more

I ordered an açaí bowl and the same juice I usually order at any given juice spot. The juice I got here tasted like soap and I couldn't drink it. The açaí in the bowl was super freezer burnt where it was icy/crunchy and all of the fruit was slimy like it'd been sitting in warm juice outside refrigeration for hours. Absolutely horrible. Walked in- the owner was busy talking to one person while another employee was outside smoking and on her phone; and 2 other employees just playing around making concoctions while I sat there waiting. Finally, the two kids asked if we needed help. My mom and I each got a smoothie. I wanted strawberry, which they made with strawberries, milk and ice. It tasted like milk with a bad after taste. And was given to me dripping all over the sides- an absolute mess. My mom got the melonhead smoothie plus mango. Hers tasted very watered down. Hardly any flavor like mine. The owner was speaking to the other customer about how he wants to expend and be in every beach club in the area. Good luck with that. Your service and your product SUCK! read more

This is seriously my favorite acai bowl joint AND my favorite smoothie place -- it's so good it tops both categories IMO. So far, the Island Bowl is my fav. They're delicious, super refreshing, and all natural making it a much better snack than ice cream, etc. Their ice coffee is definitely a sleeper. Skip the D&D down the street and grab a cold brew here -- I promise you'll be glad ya did. All in all, Melonhead makes a damn good product, has a super-chill atmosphere (including the staff), and parking is a breeze. If you're at the beach in Sea Bright, or even just driving down Ocean Ave, you NEED to check this place out. read more

Love this new place! I have been to both Playa bowls and Melonhead, and deeply enjoy both joints. The only thing that I suggest for Melonhead is to give more options for customers (without using the modified bowl). For example an option of how much granola. All in all, really cool place! read more

I am so pissed that you guys closed for the summer! The best acai bowls and drinks I have ever had. The owners nick and Steve are amazing People, spoke to them about their products and about the gym they gave me great advice and some samples of other things on their menu. I live an hour away but still would drive there two times a week! The assistant manager also made me a bowl that she enjoyed and I must say it was incredible, it was not only amazing to eat but it was so pretty. All employees are awesome people. I cannot wait until may to be able to have acai and fruit smoothies. Healthy and delicious !!! Hope you think of opening a second location closer to the outer bridge !!! read more

I went up to the order window today and a young blonde woman in NO MASK appeared. We are in the middle of a pandemic- absurd that the employees are not using proper precautions. I was very disappointed with the service and the food at this juice bar. First of all it was very unsanitary and the workers were handling the fruit without gloves and were licking their fingers. I was mostly disappointed with my pitaya bowl. The pitaya tasted like pure shaved ice. It had zero flavor and tasted like it had freezer burn. The only good part of the bowl were the bananas in top. The rest of the fruit used wasn't ripe. I do not recommend this place. Playa bowls in pier village is definitely the better option in this area. read more

This place is amazing! I grabbed a coco berry bowl before I hit the beach. It was an awesome way to start my day. I've never had an acai bowl with Nutella before and now I'm hooked!! Super cute smoothie joint in Sea Bright! However I couldn't give five stars for a few reasons: 1. It was a totally HOT day and the windows were open and the fans were on but no AC, love the idea of that on a not so hot day but on a brutal one out the AC on for all of your customers heading from the beach. 2. I asked for no chia seeds and they gave me chia seeds, not a huge deal but still. Service was really sweet and mellow, but a little slow (and we were there during a not so busy time so they should have banged it out). 3. While it's nice that they load the bowl with SO many toppings, there were more toppings than there was smoothie! I'd rather it be the other way around or at least half and half. OTHERWISE, I love the atmosphere, the friendly smiles from the staff, the amazing menu and of course that they use organic and non GMO ingredients (bravo and thank you for that!). Personally, I've been eating acai bowls for years and it's great to see that it has now become widely available. Putting sweetened coconut flakes totally defeats the purpose of a healthy acai bowl. Adding Nutella as well? Since when has acai become a dessert? Kind of disappointed in that one. I have heard so much about Melonhead, and was eager to try it. During my visit, there were 3 people working behind the counter, and there was one other customer in the restaurant. It took over 15 minutes for my order (one bowl) to be made. The girls behind the counter were wearing tank tops while preparing food, which is a health code violation. read more

Best bowls in Monmouth County. Blows Dean's and Freshica's out of the water and is more consistent then Playa bowl.
