I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, but there were definitely no left overs. This is a small shop with very friendly staff. You order at a counter. We take Brie so many places that, you know, we need to detox with healthy food every now and then. :) On our trip to Long Branch, we headed to the west end section and came across The Herd Juicery, a hole in the wall healthy juice, bowl, and vegan sandwich bar! They even have vegan lattes, which we've never seen before! If you have a hard time digesting milk, or want healthier options, you should check this place out! It is a teeny tiny place inside, just really made for take-out, but they are happy to setup outdoor tables/chairs for you in the winter and will have them out normally in the warmer seasons. Dogs allowed outside! :) The food is fantastic! Cauliflower chowder soup, BBQ jack fruit sandwich, buffalo tempeh...OMG, so delicious and so healthy, natural and organic! We went out of our way to try this place, and this was really disappointing. Everything sounded great on the menu but in practice wasn't. I got the falafel bowl -- it had raw falafel which was more like a cracker than falafel. It was definitely weird (don't expect falafel) but the only thing I liked about the bowl. The rest of the bowl was tasteless. The brown rice and chickpeas lacked any flavor, and the tahini goddess sauce was way overdone and also had no flavor. I love tahini and it does not taste like tahini at all. I didn't try the curry bowl but while it sounded interesting on paper - apparently they precook the lentils with sweet potatoes and carrots and sauce and it did not look appetizing. Very few sweet potatoes and carrots. I can't speak for the açaí bowls (I wanted to try one - but they didn't have any of them not blended with fruit, i.e., just açaí and bananas and almond milk. I'd recommend adding a few more options for those -- and revamp the bowls or remove from the menu. read more

I'd give them zero stars if I could! Absolutely ridiculous! I ordered ahead online yesterday for two smoothies at 335. They close at 4! When I went to pick them up I got a message saying my order will be available for pickup today at 351. So I hurry over to try to rectify this issue because I did not request a day later pickup I requested ASAP. When I walked in at 341 I was told they're shut down and not making anymore smoothies. Why?! You close at 4! It's 341!You accepted my online order which only said they are not accepting playa bowl orders! Then changed the time to the next day for pick up! Why would you not keep servicing customers until 4... WHEN YOU CLOSE! If that's the case then change your fucking hours to 330! Or don't accept my payment and my order! read more

I was in the area for the day, looking for a healthy vegan lunch spot and found two places, almost next to each other, that looked good. I stopped in the "other" joint first but left because I wasn't feeling the vibe. I'm so glad I went with my gut and went across the street to the Herd. The vibe at Herd was totally different. The Herd is simple, elegant, and high vibrational. I could see the food being made in front of me and was greeted with warm hello and answers to my newbie questions. I ordered the falafel bowl and an almond butter toast to go. Both were prepared fresh and beautifully presented. You can tell they take pride in their food and quality -- first with your eyes and then with your mouth. They were both delicious. I came back the next day to try more items to take home to my family for dinner. We tried two more bowls, two sandwiches, and two of the soups. The owner (who was also there the first time) remembered me and helped prepare my order. We had a brief conversation about how he got started with the juicery. His passion was evident in his story and his execution. I hope they continue to do well and expand the menu to have more food items and potentially a sit-down location. More on the food: Falafel bowl: I loved the mix of raw (dehydrated falafel, veggies) and cooked chickpeas. The beet hummus was excellent. Surprisingly filling Buffalo bowl: Super tasty marinated tempeh, just enough heat/spice. The crunch of the romaine and the richness of the avocado and cashew cream goes so well with the spice. Highly recommended Reuben Sandwich: This was killer. Another great example of how you can transform tempeh to be something extraordinary. It had the classic Reuben flavors. We savored every bite. Jackfruit Sandwich: Another winner. Very interesting flavors. I've had jackfruit before and there was something unique about this one. It was refreshingly lighter, maybe less salty than what I'm used to. It was almost like a carribean sandwhich with the coconut bacon. I would order this again too. 3-Bean chili: Excellent, and simple. Filling. Great to pair with a bowl or sandwich if you're very hungry. Coconut Curry: Also great. Rich, creamy, really nice Indian spices. I'm not usually a huge fan of coconut-based curries but I found it made a great dipping sauce for veggies or bread. We used it like a fondue! Pour this over broccoli and you are sure to get your toddlers eating their veggies! :) Hopefully next time I can take the whole family. read more

Cute little juice + smoothie spot with LOTS of great options. They also have Acai, Pitaya, and Kale bowls, which seem to be popular in the area. The menu is extensive, so there is something for everyone. The service is always good and they seem to use organic/local produce. Short review : I drive 40 minutes to go here for amazing celiac safe vegan food. Long review : I would give this place more stars if I could. Seriously the best place in NJ to get celiac safe vegan food. I went here within a month of being diagnosed celiac and a few weeks later I was vegan. Showed me that gluten free / vegan food can taste amazing. I've gone here countless times and not once have I been glutened. The owner ( I think ) is always super friendly as well as the other workers in there. Always super fast pick up too. My only complaint is the food isn't as hot as I'd like it to be. ( not cold by any means ) I think some of the sauces are chilled so it makes it cooler. Still amazing and I will be a regular customer here for life. I liked my juice, I got the kale kleanse, as well as my raw taco bowl. The sunflower chorizo was something I kinda feared walking into it... and I was right to. It was like eating a dog treat. However, other than that I liked my bowl a lot, but it was $15, and my juice for like 12oz was 12. Very pricy for what it is. My friend got the sweet and tangy salad, I think that's what it was called. Again, I think it was around $14-$15 and it was ok, but the most expensive thing in it was probably sweet potatoes. By far best acai bowls I've ever had! I love their options, but I get the same one everytime. Acai with vegan granola, coconut, and peanut butter. Amazing! They are about $10 but its enough for 2 people and comes in a big square bowl. This is my only go to for acai bowls. They are open year round, just check on their hours by calling. I had the sweet and tangy salad 7/10, bbq jackfruit sandwich 8/10, the curry bowl 8/10, and the cauliflower chowder soup 6/10. The curry bowl had a great flavor, the bbq jackfruit sandwich (prepare to make a mess) was very good as well, the sweet and tangy salad was very tasty although it did not state on the menu the chickpeas are dried which it i believe should have, the dressing was good although it would have been nice to have been offered options as to what other dressings were available. I do suggest making the salads closer to 12.99 as 15.25 is a little steep. All in all it was a great experience, the menu here is diverse and also contains creatively designed options. read more

Best Vegan Juicery in Monmouth County. My favorites are the Cherry Bomb smoothie bowl which is the BOMB! All the soups are fantastic especially the cauliflower Chowder. The fact that people love The Herd Juicery and it only has 10 reviews is pretty pathetic. This place is absolutely outstanding. The owner, Jon, got me to enjoy my first ever jackfruit sandwich. There was a few months where I was picking either the buffalo tempeh or the bbq jackfruit sandwich up almost every other day. I recently moved out of the area so the location is still on my way to work, but not close enough to travel to on lazy weekends, though I am attempting to motivate myself more nowadays. I am completely in love with the Mint Chip smoothie. It seriously tastes like you're drinking a mint chocolate chip milkshake. What's not to love? Last Christmas, I picked up two vegan pies and no one even questioned whether or not what they contained, they just simply devoured. If this will be your first time headed there I suggest the Buffalo Tempeh Sandwich & Mint Chip Smoothie, if you're not into mint get the Happy Hippie (I believe that's what it's called) Save the planet and save the vessel you've been blessed with and make healthy (yet ridiculously delicious) choices and get to The Herd ASAP. read more
