I usually stick to the same order, but this time, I went with their new Superberry Cloud Smoothie. It was also made so quickly! This smoothie was SO tasty! It was airy because of the coco whip swirled around the side of the cup. Sometimes, protein in smoothie becomes clumpy and gross, but not from Playa Bowls. I honestly felt so bad for the people working here the day I was in. It was exceptionally hot and humid and the line was through the store. The staff was working hard and while we were waiting, someone passed out. Apparently, that had been the 3rd person to pass out either inside or right outside the store. It was so hot on this beach day that I stopped by playa bowls to get something refreshing before hopping on the beach. I tried the stupid cupid bowl. In all honesty is was just ok. I don't think the description actually lived up to the product. The top layer of granola, fruits and nutella was very good but the small amount of strawberry smoothie base was a miss. The actual smoothie base was also lacking a lot of flavor, more ice than fruit. Overall still refreshing and an ok snack to take on the beach. HOURS WAIT DURING SUMMER MONTHS! I love playa bowls, but this specific location gets very very crowded in the summer months. Every time I've gone during June, the workers have to come out and tell the costumers on line that the wait is at least an hour to just order, then longer to actually get your food. Lines are always out the door. I waited 2 hours to get my food today :( They are understaffed and also have to deal with a crazy amount of online orders at the same time. Do not go here unless you are willing to wait 1 hour at the least. Or maybe go during very off-season times. read more

I was never quite sure if Playa Bowls was lunch or a snack so I just keep making it a meal, even though I wind up hungry again an hour later. I will say that, for this location in particular, I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I was able to order and get my bowl. Showing up at lunchtime on a beach day with the line out the door gave me pause. But the line moved quickly and my order was ready within a couple minutes of paying. As with all the locations, they have a good selection and these really hit the spot on a hot summer day. Dinged a star for the price. Service was very quick today because no lines were to be seen. This place is nicely decorated with a surf setting in the background. this has to be the WORST playa bowls. the lines are ridiculous, there are flies EVERYWHERE, and the bowls are mainly granola than the actual acai. The lines take about 10-20 minutes - depending on how booked the beach is that day, the staff just take your order and rush you off, and they call your name when the order is ready but because of the loudness of the crowds sometimes it's hard to hear. Seating is decent but always disgusting and not clean- I always have to swat flies away. Anyways, I guess it's great to have something refreshing while you're at the beach but still, this place needs to clean up their act, it's not okay. read more

I would not recommend this location to absolutely anyone, After ordering with them and waiting for 36 minutes after they promised my order will be ready in 20 I received a watery melted bowl with no lid on it I had to provide myself with the to go items. Once I got in my car and saw the soup that was in my hands I was completely disgusted and had to discard. I don't feel like they took their time nor did they put enough effort. So unfortunate because I'm a huge Playa Bowls fan I will not be purchasing from this location ever again hoping this helps some of you when coming down to the shore do not purchase with them, Knowing there are such a heavy location that should hire better employees that actually take the time and effort to provide good food. read more

Refreshing stop while enduring a long day at the beach. I heard some buzz on the beach about this place and while walking along the boardwalk and the street, everywhere you look, people are carrying these bowls and eating them. Cold, refreshing and hit the spot is how I would describe it. Are they healthy and good for you??? I have no idea. While waiting in a 15-20 minute line, after passing through the front door, you look to the right and your bowl options are on the wall. You have more than enough time to pick choice. Finally upon reaching the register, I can place my order. Alright, here is my only complaint. You, cashier girl, are the first human contact I have with an employee after I enter. When I say hi, it is common courtesy to say hi back. When I say thank you, some sort of response would be nice. I get it, you are on your feet and the line never ends, but don't take it out on me. After placing your order and paying you move past the register and wait for your bowl to be made. The girls behind the counter are working very hard. There are bananas everywhere you look. The sound of the blenders never stops. A sure sign they are working hard to get your order out quickly. There are options where you can add protein powder to the bowls. I was surprised to see a girl stirring in protein powder after the mix came out of the blender. Why not put it in the blender? Will it take that much more time? Even with all the people you can find a spot to sit insider outside. I chose to walk back to my beach chair and eat it there. My bowl was cold, refreshing and satisfied my hunger. Was $10.70 a fair price for a bowl of blended fruit and some mixed in stuff like granola and coconut flakes? I will leave that up to you to decide. read more

Staff was very friendly when coming to the door to hand out take out orders. The sign in the door says to call when you arrive, however no one answered the phone to take the order so they did not answer the phone either. When I called to place the order it said mailbox full. I placed the order online instead. Overall a good experience considering the Covid restrictions. The negative comment I wanted to add that the kiwi was awful! Not ripe at all ! As well as the mangos! I opt for the blueberries and strawberries bowl topped with honey and granola and my friend opts for the Nutella and peanut butter. My bowl was perfect. The acai was thick just the way I like it and the honey tasted so good. Fruits were fresh and the size was worth the $9. The decor inside was super cute. I recommend grabbing a table outside when you arrive because there are only 6 picnic tables outside but there are high top seats inside too. As a smoothie bowl addict that makes my own smoothie bowls obsessively & buy a ton of smoothie bowls. This place is top notch. I love the location and the very upbeat interior that seems to attract customers from all walks of life. Despite the super busy line, all the employees were very nice & patient with any questions I had. They also seemed genuinely happy to work there constantly laughing and smiling to one another as I watched waiting for my bowl. The menu is absolutely amazing and organized so well. You have a choice of 4 color bases: hot pink (pitaya) acai (purple) kale (green obv) coconut (white but there is also a strawberry one which is a beautiful light pink color). Each color comes with about 6 or 7 suggestions of toppings. I've only had the Pitaya bowls here and they are so dreamy. My favorite one if the Dragonberry w/o honey (pictured). The texture is perfect, not too sweet, and they don't skimp on toppings. The granola is also good quality super chunky granola (if you're into that) that has a delicious hint of lemon. The portions are huge, I was able to split one with 3 other people. The price is a steal compared to NYC where one smoothie bowl can be up to $15 and they give you skimpy smoothie bowls that aren't as interesting. I can't wait to go back to Playa bowls next summer! I still have dreams about this place. I wish there was one around where I live. Playa Bowls is one of the last shops on the strip of shops alongside the boardwalk. The first time I went there was a line out the door, I didn't have enough time to wait but I did grab a menu to-go so I could strategize returning the next day. There were so many options I didn't know how I would choose. It would have to be a game day decision. Everything looked delicious, healthy, and fresh. The second day, I went there and was very pleased with the açai bowl I chose. It had bee pollen, coconut milk, bananas, organic peanut butter, hemp granola, coconut chips, cacao nibs, etc. It was delicious. I wish I remembered the name, but it was blue in color and I believe it was a special bowl of the season. The prices are very fair and the service is spectacular. I even forgot to print my receipt the first time and had to go back in, the girl was very kind and gave it to me. I like the overall environment. It's very beachy but health forward. While I was waiting to use the restroom in the back, I got a glimpse of everybody making the bowls and the protein shakes in the back. Everyone was chopping up fresh fruit. Everyone was smiling, it was a great environment. I went back the next day to get a protein shake and that was also delicious. They have these vegan chocolate and peanut butter protein balls that I got and brought back to California with me. They are delicious. The bad.... the smoothie was not tasty at all..for some reason the banana was just too overpowering and it took away from the pitaya flavor.. it was just not good, it tasted gross and a bit artifical.. the pink wasnt as pink as pitaya could be and thats probably because it was overpowered by too much banana! The granola was crunchy which was a plus but the flavor was off and was not what granola should taste like. Also a smoothie bowl is good when its thick almost like icecream.. this was super watery.. also my friend got the coconut bowl and it was WARM! Which is gross, it was like oatmeal... not refreshing or tasty at all!! Overall the bowls lacked flavor and honestly tasted gross.
