I wanted to support a local barbershop and gave it not one, not two, but three fair chances. Unfortunately, each visit left me walking out more committed to not coming back. I've been going to Melo's with my partner for the last year and a half - it's the only place we've gone to since we've started, and it's with good reason: they are AWESOME! I say "they" because I truly haven't had a bad experience with any of the barbers or front desk crew. They're always polite, friendly, prompt with service, and the overall climate is relaxed but professional. Generally, I go to see JCarlos and my partner sees Nabal. I've seen a few other barbers towards the beginning or when JCarlos is off for a few days, but we still seek out our usual barbers because we enjoy their work and their demeanor. I mean, who doesn't like to not only know what they're getting, but also support their local barber? This last visit there was a small hiccup with scheduling - totally not a big deal and absolutely not their fault, life happens. Instead of rescheduling, THE MAN HIMSELF (Melo) offered to serve us. Melo was entertaining, welcoming, professional, and does great work. Not only is his cut exceptional, but he leaves you feeling good overall - it totally makes the experience great. We'll continue coming back here as long as we're in Orlando. To anyone visiting or local, I suggest you give this place a try. Again, I have yet to have a bad experience with any barber, but from personal experience I suggest Nabal, JCarlos, or Melo if you're looking for a referral from our experiences. Got a haircut while on a work trip at this place. The barbers are really nice and boy can they all cut a good fade. For $28 it was set at a good price. The place is super busy so make sure you book through booksy. It's an old school barber shop with the classic chairs, hot towels and razor trim around the edges. Had an appointment with Melo at 1PM, I arrived ontime and he was still working with someone else for 10 minutes past the appointment time. If barbers pressure us to be ontime, why cant they be ontime and ready? I ended up walking out the moment I saw Melo use a blow dryer on a mans face and tapping his fingers on his face. When I saw Melo holding the shaving blade on the clients neck and his hands was shaking, Im like NOPE, that's dangerous. I sense Melo is from NY perhaps many years as a Domincan barber up in NY...I was searching for a more upscale barber and I was willing to pay $150 for my haircut. In Melo for $60 I expected a more higher class service. This place is good for like a quick cut low cost. I chose this place initially because of Google, now I know not to trust google but instead walk in, feel it out, look at who is in the front chair near the door, whoever is there is typically the best. My father and brother in law came here for the supreme package they have which comes with a hot towel and shave. Then he go a mask and hair cut. The whole experience lasted almost 2 hours and he was a new person. He said it was extremely relaxing and they did a wonderful job. His skin looks so moisturized and he loves his hair cut. Barber - Nildos Cut - 0 to #2 taper, half inch off the top, comb over. Price - I'm from out of town. Priced exactly what I pay my barber back home. Check the website for your options. Shop is clean, all barber chairs occupied with clients, and staff is very professional. It's a Friday evening and I didn't have to wait. Made an appointment online. Extremely happy with the cut. received my haircut 4 days ago and am still recovering from what i think is the worst hair cut possible. I went on yelp and looked for a barber and came across this shop. from the pictures on yelp it looked like the haircut i wanted (Midfade combover) would be an easy task. when i arrived the shop was pretty empty. wasn't really greeted more was just waiting for the 2 hispanic barbers to figure out who's cutting my hair. at one point they tell a larger gentlemen hes cutting my hair. he was on his airpod sitting down and he looked up at me then went back to looking at his phone. didnt say hello didn't seem like he even wanted to cut my hair nor acknowledge my presence i stood there for about 40 seconds till he finally inched off the bench and walked me over to his chair. he told me he was exhausted because he has to drive to miami for his wife's dress but tbh all that said to me was he was tired and really not even wanting to cut my hair. i told him about my last bad barber experience and told him exactly what i wanted eith pic references and anything you'd think he'd need to know how he's cutting my hair. he took about an hour and 45 mins to the point where i genuinely had to ask him to speed things up which i would never in my life do because that's extremely rude but honestly i had no choice. had to have him fix both sides multiple times even one of the barbers came over when he noticed i was upset and told my barber "you need to blend right here on the line" which is exactly what was needed. now for the cut. both sides at the end of the cut came out uneven and while one side was slightly blended the other side was a completely diff fade to a point it was unfixable. it has been an absolutely embarrassing couple of days for me since my hair is important to me. i don't think he really knew how to cut hair in depth aside from the basics. i would not reccomend this shop to anyone who really wants a fresh cut . this is a barbershop better for older men or young kids who don't really care about the freshest line up or cleanest fade and just need a little off the top and side. from the entrance to the shop to my barbers lack of care or enthusiasm and finally to the terrible cut it was just a bad 28 dollar experience i wish i could take back. i work in the industry and i really was fighting myself to not say that i didn't want to pay for it. but i did anyways. i just wanna leave this review for anyone checking this place thinking they're gonna get a super clean fade or the freshest cut out there. it's a 5out of 10 family barbershop. also side note they are very strict about leaving at 6:30. customers always come first a gentlemen showed up at 5:50 and was told he can only get a haircut they don't have time for a beard trim. which the customer then replied "aw man can you just do the goatee" and the hispanic barber told the man "sorry we close at 6:30 and i wouldn't wanna rush your beard and mess it up and you be upset.". as if the barbershop explodes into a thousand pieces if you don't leave the barbershop and exit the building by 6:30. he basically told the guy if i do your beard i'm gonna mess it up because i'm trying to get out of here and i'll rush it. that's what he said, broken down to me. if only my barber had that sense of urgency during my haircut. all in all i have nothing against the barbers this just isn't a good shop. if you don't care about being the freshest cut in the room then go for it but if you genuinely care about your haircuts and they are a major part of your swagger this is not the place for you champ. - Sincerely an extremely unhappy customer read more
