Nice local Pupuseria. Friendly service. I always get the pork and cheese pupusas, but I also like the spinach and cheese.

I been here a few times and what keeps me coming back is their wonderful Salvadoran style Soups and Breakfast. The ladies that work here are so nice! The pupusas (savory filled corn cakes) here are expertly shaped (no cracks) and beautiful. The ratio of filling is very cheese heavy which kinda mutes out the other flavors in the filling in my opinion, but they are still very good. Ask for extra curtido (pickled cabbage slaw) and tomato salsa; it cuts out the richness of the pupusas. Pupusas do take time to assemble and cook as they are made to order, so either call ahead like the locals do or be prepared to wait. If you wish to dine-in, there are a few tables inside. I usually don't write no comments when I buy food online. The reason I'm giving one start is because this place is advertising on their menu false prices.the pic they have on the menu shows 3 pupusas for $6.90 I order 2 orders. I received 1 order instead of 2 orders to top it off inside the plate was only 2 pupusas. I call the restaurant thy said the owner of the restaurant hasn't changed the menu. They refused to send me what I order from their menu they were rude over the phone and they were rude with the delivery girl too. They ignore her. read more

I can only speak for their pupusas that I've ordered via delivery as I've never visited their restaurant. Whenever I'm craving pupusas, Mely's is the spot I order from. I am dairy free and they have one non cheese option and that's good enough for me. I love their chicharrón with frijol pupusa, it's tasty and filling. Wow!!! I was craving sopa de gallina. We got 2 and 5 pupusas total $90. At first I thought maybe it's too expensive but then I saw its 1/2 of the gallina other places is 1/4. The flavor very good and the pupusas are big and loaded with cheese. The ambiance is a small hole in the wall so we took it to go instead. A small hole in the wall spot, there isn't much seating but the food this business serves is top notch quality! It was our first time here and the employee who served us was very attentive and kind! She explained some items that we were not familiar with and made sure our order was correct when she had questions. My partner and I got a huge takeout order for dinner and it came in 20 minutes! Decided to try this spot since the 2nd location will open up soon in our area. The dining area is small w/ about 5 tables. There is also a table outside in the back. It took a really long time to get our food. What made it longer was the worker never apologized or acknowledged for the time, as he continued to pass by. There were a couple people ahead of us waiting as well and it wasn't even the lunch rush. When it finally came, the pupusas were huge! Way bigger than expected. The taste and size were ALMOST worth the wait. We were along able to eat 1 each before getting full. Would I come back here? Maybe. If I ordered ahead of time. The food is so good. That's why we keep coming back. The pork and cheese papusas are delicious. However, quite often there is something wrong with our order or something missing. I think it's mostly a language barrier because we don't speak Spanish but the staff should be able to understand. And it does take some time for them to prepare your order so don't be in a hurry. Most recently my husband ordered two sides of their beans (my favorite) and instead we got to bean papusas. (Still tasty but not at all what was wanted. The bean and cheese ones are so yummy.) So, I strongly recommend that you go eat here but know that your order might take a little while to prepare and you should double check that it's right. read more

Living in San Gabriel valley is hard finding a great pupuseria, I'm always looking for a great spot and melys was told by word of mouth how great they are, but it's sad to say that it's a yes and no experience. Our order of pupusas revultas didn't have cheese and beans it only had pork filling , very disappointing. The crutido was plain and wasn't fermented with enough vinegar the tomato sauce was horrible no flavor what's so ever. The empanadas with cream gets a star, the drinks like arranya and juego de insalada get a star. The yuca con chicharron mixed feelings yuca was good the chicharron were small and overcooked. For paying $100 bucks I wouldn't recommend this spot. I know they just open up another location and I'll give it a shot to see if it's the cooks off the lake location just don't care about quality food control. But as for now melys have left me with such disappointment. read more

I did a pickup from melys, My food was hot and ready when I got there. I got three different pupusas I got a regular cheese, Pork and cheese and beef and cheese... All three were equally as delicious. But there's something about the plain cheese that I just like. I also got a side of crema. The service is always really quick when I go there. There's not much to the place It's the typical mom and pop shop I don't particularly care to say hole in the wall I feel that's kind of disrespectful. My only problem is I didn't get my plantinos, I ordered through DoorDash It was on the receipt for DoorDash but it wasn't on the receipt for Melys, So I'm not going to count that against them. read more

One of my favorite places to eat Pupusas. The wait time can be a bit long when it's busy but it is worth it because they are so good. They are made fresh as soon as you order them and are savory as soon as you put them in your mouth. The staff is very friendly and the owner is very nice. We got 4 revueltas (mixed) pupusas and we were completely satisfied! Fresh. Hot. Flavorful. Adding the curtido and salsa gives it that extra bit of kick. I called this place and made a reservation for 15 people. This is partly my fault because I had never been there but had reviews that the food was alright. The restaurant said they could accommodate my party of 15 for later that day. I get there with some of my guests, and we are meet with a very small location and like 2-4 tables with some already occupied. It's also so hot and humid in the restaurant. There's no AC, no fan. These pupusas are my new favorite as they don't even taste greasy and they put plenty of cheese inside of them for $4.50. food wise, their pupusas are usually good. however last nights pupusas gave 4 of the 7 of us the runs. i'm honestly hoping it had nothing to do with our interaction with darwin, who took our order and was rude. we've never had an issue with the food until last night and we've also never had an issue with the ladies who take our orders so it feels like too much of a coincidence that our food made us sick on the day we had rude darwin take our order and help us. we placed a phone order for pick up. it was for 14 pupusas total and so he wanted us to prepay our order over the phone. 1) i was paying cash and 2) i don't like to give out my credit card number over the phone so that immediately annoyed him and he made it known. additionally, when we arrived to pick up and pay, there was some bogus charges on our order. we didn't custom order anything so not sure where the $1.00 charge came from and then we were wrongly charged an extra $1 for paying with a credit card but we didn't. we paid cash. i don't mind the $.50 charge for the aluminum tray but come on. my biggest take away and worry is that they could've done something to our food to make us sick. 7 of us shared 14 pupusas and 4 of us were sick. only other thing we ate were cheese rolls from porto's and those haven't ever made anyone sick. it's too much of a coincidence for me to ever eat here again. read more

I like that they have a 10-minute parking spot right at the front which made picking up my food easy. The location is very small but easy to pick up. I know it is a small business but I was shocked when I got home and saw that they charged me $1.00 to use my card and 25 cents for the to-go container. I especially wish the person had told me about the chard for the card since I had cash on me. Other than that, I loved the pupusas! Pupusas are definitely a comfort food for me and had been missing my hometown's restaurant. I think this will be my new go-to spot in the area because they were not overly greasy and had a lot of filling inside. After all these years Mely's Restaurant is still amazing! I have been coming here for years now and I am always happy and satisfied with the food and service. Yes this place is very small inside but they do a great job serving everyone that comes in. They also do take out if it's a full house and you don't want to wait around. A couple years back they gave this place a little facelift. They added some new paint colors, menus on 3 flatscreen Televisions, photos/artwork, and new seating. All that gave this place a nice Spanish feel, very welcoming. Every time I come into dine I always order the same thing (creature of habit) -Pupusas (They are all delicious) -Ensalada De Fruta It's a family own restaurant and the food is very authentic. Meals are always made to order, they are served nice and hot off the grill.
