I went here on Cinco de Mayo and ordered the flautas (chicken) plate. I said no pico de gallo which i thought was only the tomato salsa and said to the girl, it comes with guacamole and she said that's extra. I thought that strange since flautas usually comes with it but said okay. She brought the plate to my table and the flautas had sour cream with a sprinkling of cheese. No guacamole only a few slices of avocado. I'm not one to complain in restaurants so I took it as is. The beans were a little cold so the the cheese didn't really melt as well as the rice. I guess this one is not for me. The al pastor is way too salty, and not enough fats. The burrito is with refried beans, and when i opt out of beans, the burrito is very dry, even the asada also dry. The salsa is good and fiery though, that's the highlight of my visit. For the amount of food i got, it's a tad on the slightly pricier side. Service was fast and friendly. While they had some offerings on DoorDash, if you go there personally, you get a better scope of their menu. It's a very small, hole in the wall type of place. Not a blink and you'll miss it, but you probably aren't going to bring a ton of people with you. Very dicey and very much for the locals. Not IG famous. But that's beside the point: it has amazing food, quick service, and super nice employees! They answered all of my questions and they were so patient with me! Semi late night find after full day of walking around. Two friends who are visiting out of state miss CA Mexican food so we came here (it was close by). Happy find! The staff was super friendly and our table of 6 got a variety of different plates. Beverages wise lots of horchata and agua de Jamaica. Multiple orders of platanos which included me. TLDR: Average food, above average prices. Instead, I came on a weekend afternoon, and it was fairly empty. The restaurant is located on the corner of a block, but there is nearby parking as well. I ordered the Alhambre - probably butchered the spelling of that - and it is like most of their premium entrees priced at $15 before tax / tip. I took it to go, and it was 4 4 tortillas, steak, a side salad, rice, and beans. I have to admit that the food was pretty petite. I tried to make it two meals, but it was pretty difficult - if anything 1.5 meals was doable. I wasn't a big fan of the tortillas; they were pretty brittle and crumbly. The rice and beans were alright - thankfully not too salty like other restaurants that I had visited. The cheesy steak was alright, but I felt as if the cheese was meant to mask the flavor of the meat - not sure why. Another epic meal at this little corner spot! If you've never had Salvadoran food- or even are aware of the distinction....(my white suburban girl upbringing is doin me dirty here- apologies) then welcome to the BEST spot to start. I am so glad we came across this place after a hike at Eaton Canyon. We were looking for huevos rancheros and chilaquiles, something with a home cooked vibe. Most breakfast places these days lack authenticity and cater more to the aesthetic of things. This place definitely delivered. The chilaquiles and huevos rancheros were flavorful. After dropping my daughter off at a nearby dance summer camp, I dropped in for a little desayuno. Knowing there would be no menudo on a weekday, I opted for a juevos rancheros plate and un agua fresca. Served with the usual sides, the corn tortillas, salsa, and slightly runny-yolked eggs were excellent. I scarfed it all down with great aplomb. The menu here is diverse, and the prices are not too bad for a Pasadena joint. I noted the $8.99 menudo... making plans for a future weekend, and a full pound of barbacoa for $15... but in good conscience, couldn't bring myself to order it alone... because I might eat it all. The seating area is small, but like many mom and pop Mexican food places in the 'Dena, this "little corner" Store (that's Rinconcito, Mildred) serves up great food at great prices with a smile. read more

Ate here for the first time this am. Ran across it by accident while looking for something else..decided to try it. Small, no frills place. Menu is NOT Mexican but rather Gustamalan/El Salvadorian. Ordered Huevos Rancheros and a Burrlito. Added coffee which was nice and included cinnamon. Huevos different in that they are made with grilled green peppers and onions on top with green sauce. I really enjoyed them and could rave them once in a while. Wife not thrilled with burrito..just not what she expected. Service was really good..thanks for that. Prices reasonable and we found street parking. I would return for the Huevos and to try the menudo. Not sure about wife. Absolutely enjoy dining in here! The ambiance is adorable and cozy! Take out is not bad either!! I highly recommend the huarache with salsa verde (they make a salsa specifically for the huarache!). I also highly recommend trying the barbacoa if you come on the weekend. (Only available on the weekend) They have a Taco Friday (two tacos with rice and beans for $5.99), and they started carrying sweet breads at the front register. There is free parking, too! Love this cozy local hole in the wall eatery. I don't have much knowledge of Aztec Mexican, since I'm a gringa and all - but what I do know is their food is very GOOD. And their service equally good - I'm always greeted and asked how I am, and being high maintenance on my orders I'm impressed with their attention to detail in getting my order right.
