This is truly as good as it gets! The Experience We just cannot say enough about Chef Peter and his team. From the day we landed in Hawaii to meet with him for our tasting to the final day of the wedding, he has been an absolute pleasure to work with. During our tasting, we ended up changing our serving style and menu quite a bit from our original plan, and this was only 5 days before the wedding. His genuine desire to please us and work with us to make us happy was more than any bride could ask for. We were awed by his absolute passion for food- from paddling out into the ocean to gather his own salt, to letting us taste the greens he'd picked at a farm earlier that day to even cautioning us about certain dishes once he understood our tastes. I have a tremendous love of food as well, which had led me down a disappointed path of possible caterers for our wedding. Once we found Memoirs, I knew our search was over. During the tasting, my "grilled cheese sandwich" type of husband was so impressed by the food, it took all he had not to lick the plates. Out of all of our vendors, Memoirs was by far, the most enjoyable to work with because of the perfect mixture of professionalism and familiarity. I don't know any other vendor who would sit with us for 3 hours brainstorming with us to ensure he was aligned with our goals so that we would be 100% happy with the menu, service, style, and even our signature cocktails. Lastly, even though I played the part of the excited bride well, Chef Peter was great in not exploiting my eagerness and overcharging me. He worked with us on the spot to get to a mutually beneficial cost for both parties. The Food We went from initially wanting an Action Station/Buffet to a fully plated 6 course meal with 2 passed apps. Our guests could not compliment the food more, and my Pastry Chef Father in law, who also owns a gourmet chocolate business, was so impressed that he wanted to make a formal speech during the wedding to acknowledge and thank Chef Peter in front of our guests (which sadly we ended up not having time for during the chaos). My only REGRET If I could change one thing, it would be that I had made time to sit down and enjoy every plate. I ran around too much and unfortunately didn't have a chance to enjoy the food as much as I would have liked- but that's my fault. Thank you Chef Peter and Memoirs! Although we were married in May of last year, 2013, we have to say that Memoir's exceptional service, attention to detail, and amazing food are still talked about on a consistent basis every time our friends and family talk about our wedding last May. Memoirs was a bright shining light for us when we were looking for caterers. We had tasted from a few others but they failed in comparison to just our taste test with Peter and his team. From the moment we started tasting his food we felt extremely excited that what Memoirs offers was exactly what we were looking for. Memoirs went above and beyond as the date was closer, helping to accommodate our dessert, which we had ordered from somewhere else, making recommendations for beverage vendors (and even making the recommendation to pick up more beer when he thought we might need more at the last minute!). And, on top of all of this they swooped in at the last minute when we were having problems with getting all the rentals we needed and took care of everything. On the night of our wedding when we were busy with wedding activities, Memoirs' staff made sure to take care of us and even made us a care package to take back to the hotel because we didn't end up getting to eat as much as we had hoped we could that night. Several months ago, the held a "Topping Off" party at a large construction project in Kakaako. I wanted to do something a little different than the plate lunch special. I got in touch with Chef Peter Foster and he was very informative and eager to help me organize this party which ended up with around 750 hungry construction workers. Chef Peter connected me with his event director, Rosanna, and she basically took over the reins from me. She knew exactly what I was looking for and knew exactly how to execute everything from the food to the logistics. Just like me, she works 24/7 and she was constantly keeping me up to date. The party was amazing, the food was excellent and everyone had a great time. It's not easy planning an event for that many construction workers, who only want to fill their bellies and get back to work, but Memoirs saved the day and help us pull off an incredible event. read more

Memoirs Catering helped to make my wedding perfect! Rosanna: She was the main food coordinator who helped to make sure everything ran smoothly. She also had connections with the table/chair/archway/misc. equipment company, (ACCEL rentals), and served as the "middle man" between us. She was so easy to work with. She was flexible with our crazy schedule, and kept things very professional. The food: When we first met with the Chef Foster, he gave us several wonderful options that were hard to choose from! But he helped us create a menu, and it was perfect. Every single dish that came out made our mouths water. There wasn't anything that we didn't love. The staff: The staff worked in the kitchen of the house we were having the wedding at. They communicated very well with my wedding coordinator, and had everything out in a timely matter. When my husband and I came back from our post-wedding photo shoot, they were flexible by keeping the food warm until we got back. They went above and beyond by seeing to our every need. For example, when the bar ran out of one of our specialty drinks, they offered to drive and buy some more, even though it was not their job to do so. The on-site staff really did exceed expectations. I was just reading some of the other reviews and agree with those who have mad love for Memoirs. We hired them to cater our wedding as well as a pre-wedding mixer sight unseen (destination wedding). Thomas was very receptive and responsive to any questions we had ahead of time (including a few conference calls). We did a pre-wedding planning trip a few months before the event and they prepared a fantastic menu for us including wild greens with honey macadamia nut dressing, roasted rosemary potatoes, chicken masala and fresh catch with a parsnip puree (for our vegetarian friends they went to great lengths to make sure they had a beautifully prepared rice dish with a corn soup). We also hired Noah to work the bar - we were smart to do that (bar service was excellent). It was also overall affordable compared to other caterers - they did two events for us and we ended up being under budget. They listened to everything we said, were very responsive during the preparation and during the event itself they were RIGHT THERE (Chef Nick was there during the mixer and Rosanna was there during the wedding). Absolutely nothing went wrong, the servers were spectacular and our guests loved the food (and most of their palates are on the sophisticated side). The care and support we received almost felt as if they were catering for family. Would recommend them again in a second - they won't disappoint. OH - and I almost forgot. At one point, some random dude wandered into the house and started hanging out at the wedding and being rude. He was there maybe 5 minutes before Memoirs staff recognized him as uninvited and asked him to leave (they get to know your people). Memoirs catered for our wedding in Jan 19 and they were outstanding!! Rosanna and Thomas were both extremely helpful and patient in the lead up to the wedding including our rental orders and menu choice which was great, as everything was organised from overseas. Then they really took the service to a new level on our wedding day. The food they served was delicious and all of our guests commented on the quality of their meals, most saying that it was the best they've had on the island. When I began planning my wedding, food was my absolute number one priority. It was tricky finding a place because there were so many choices and I wanted it to be perfect. During my research I attended a wedding catered by Memoirs and I loved it so much that I decided to book them the same week. I had a chance to work with Chef Peter, Rosanna, and Thomas and they were all professional, attentive, and very personable. Chef Peter was available during our tasting and was very easy going as well as helpful when advising us to do family style instead of buffet, an option I never would have thought of. Thomas was great on email and always responded in a very timely manner, updating the invoices when I needed to and helping me figuring out numbers. Rosanna was my main point of contact for the day of the wedding so I had a chance to get to know her a little. She was always calm no matter what was thrown her way which is important to a bride who can be like a chicken with its head cut off. My parents would tease me that I wouldn't have a chance to eat - which is true, time is limited BUT Rosanna and her staff was always prepared. They brought us plates of apps and our entrees when we asked and made sure our drinks were always flowing. Menu: - Pork Belly Bao Buns - tender pork in a pillowy bun with pickled veggies. One of my favorite items of the night. - Ahi truffle cones - you could smell the trufle a mile away, very fresh and refreshing. - Catch of the day - served with braised root vegetables, pak choi, sesame miso emulsion. Having Memoirs do the catering for our wedding reception was one of the best decisions we've ever made. Dealing with them from start to finish was an absolute pleasure, in planning they were very responsive and willing to accommodate the menu to all our needs and provided great suggestions to help with costs. On the day of, the staff just went above and beyond with the service bringing food and drinks out to us when we were taking pictures - so polite and courteous. The fish was great but the beef was too tough to chew. This may have just been our table, as others liked the beef. The flavoring of the dishes was nicely balanced. We enjoyed the passed appetizers, salad and gnocchi and the bar service was excellent. We had provided special diet info by table in advance and it did not seem like the servers had been informed. If people asked for the special dishes it was in the back, but it could have been more proactive. It was clunky for the guests to get what they needed, if they did. If you're searching for a caterer in Hawaii stop right here! and look no further because Memoirs and Chef Peter's food creations and culinary skills are out of this world! It was my 50th birthday, and my husband wanted to throw the perfect party where I didn't have to cook and just have fun. I had interviewed 3-4 catering companies, and although they seemed reasonable, no one really "WOWed" me. Throwing all my parties, and cooking my own menus, my expectations were rather high. I decided to use Yelp and Memoirs Premier Catering immediately came up. I checked out their website, and it looked amazing! Very easy...you pick from items from their menu and how extensive your catering needs are , and it automatically sends you a quote. I did have several questions, and called them. Chef Peter actually called me back up, and personally helped design a menu for me and my 30 guests and included 2 wait staffs with the price. I went to meet him, which his office was easy to get to (right next to UFC Gym/ Kakaako area, and it ended up he knew my husband and some of my guests! He made me feel at ease, and that it was going to be a perfect dinner. I went with passed appetizers- - Vegetarian Samosas ( a must, 7 different spices with an Indian tasting flair) -Seared Scallops with a Ponzu Crust ( another must ... a delicate white meat from the sea with a citrusy crunch that tantalizes your tastebuds) My 2nd favorite! - Hamachi avocado Cevichi in Lumpia Cones ( Not only is this a yummy explosive bite, but is so visually beautiful... We had Memoirs cater our wedding of 130 guests at Kualoa Ranch. I had done tastings at 2 other places and wasn't completely sold, so my wedding planner brought me in to meet with Chef Peter and try some of their options. The tasting was a great experience, I was shown around the kitchen and met with many of the staff. Then we sat down to a beautifully set table and I was served some amazing appetisers and entrees which were all presented as they would be at the wedding. All the food was delicious and I was given the opportunity to make notes and discuss options with the chef right then and there. So many of my guests have told me it was the best wedding food they had ever eaten and we barely had anything left over, because everyone ate it all up! We opted for family style which I'm really glad we did. The service on the night was phenomenal and everything was packed up and cleaned up without me even noticing any of their staff running around! We chose Memoirs to cater our small destination wedding in Laie, Oahu. We came to this decision after meeting with the team: Thomas Lord & Chef Peters. The complimentary tasting was superb, it beat the other catering service to the ground! There were lots of options to choose from and everything we chose to taste test was wonderful. On the day of our wedding the prep chefs showed up on time and were very professional. Chef Peters & Rosanna showed up a couple of hours later to oversee and supervise the final food preparation and service. Our guests loved every hand passed appetizers we chose: my favorite was the seared scallops. The servers were discrete so that the guests felt comfortable. At the end of the night the team did a beautiful job cleaning up the kitchen, wrapping up all the left overs and dissembled all the rentals. My two minor complaints are 1. the servers did not bring out all the beverages and lay them on the table with a cooler. My recommendation would be that you assign details such as this to someone in the wedding party because the bride & groom are way too occupied on their wedding day to pay attention to this. 2. the entree was not as tasty as we remembered, the kailua pig was a bit dry and the corn bread (this was my favorite during the tasting) seemed under cooked. With that said, I also recognize that the chefs had to use the rental house cooktop and oven so maybe that was a contributing factor. Chef Foster is amazing! We had the pleasure of meeting with him once before our October destination wedding for a tasting where he was very thorough and thoughtful. He sat with us during the tasting with a notebook listening to our feedback and offering delicious solutions to suit our palettes and preferences. The pupus options were delicious especially the roasted pork belly in a bao bun with a hoisin, bourbon, scallion glaze which was perfect for our drinking crowd. Our guests raved about of thai vegan noodles, macnut-coconut crusted Opah, and sous vide seared hoisin short ribs with not a single crumb went back to the kitchen. Not only was his food incredible, but his wait staff and bartender were wonderful making sure our guests were happy and the drinks were flowing throughout the reception. I'm a wedding planner and had the pleasure of working with Memoirs this past weekend for one of my weddings out at Kualoa Ranch. The experience I had with their staff was top notch. Their entire staff was on top of it and a pleasure to work with all day, helping out wherever they could, because as we all know, a wedding is a team effort and everyone must pitch in to make it a successful event. Which ours was! Without getting into too much detail, we had a minor hiccup (nothing to do with Memoirs or L-4-Love or the clients) very close to the wedding date, Gabby and Chef Foster stepped right in to assure us that everything would be taken care of and that we had nothing to worry about. They put my clients and I at ease, promising that the day would be perfect, and it was. The entire Memoirs staff was awesome, and I didn't have to baby-sit them or worry about them doing their job right. They were on top of it and friendly, too! Gabby was extremely helpful, pleasant and professional from start to finish. Chef Foster was amazing as well, and very involved. He really goes above and beyond for his clients. He hand delivered a bottle of champagne to them as a wedding gift, and also created a special tea for them with all the herbs that went into cooking their wedding meal. I was REALLY touched by this extremely thoughtful gesture. I could only hope for this kind of treatment for all my brides and grooms! We got married a few weeks ago at a private home on the north shore (i.e. every last fork, extension cord, etc, etc had to be brought in and the venue somewhat invented our on the grass), and of all the million wedding planning decisions we had to make, having Memoirs cater was probably the best one. We had a couple false starts with other caters a few months out, and discovered Memoirs rather last minute (about 2 months out). We were able to secure our date right away and immediately Rosanna and Thomas snapped into action to lay out all of the options and help us get what we wanted for our budget. Compared to other companies, we really felt like we got way more for our money going with Memoirs. Their responsiveness and flexibility and overall coordination assistance was impressively punctual and proactive, and in the lead up to our wedding week we were significantly less stressed given the thoroughness they'd put in during the planning process. As for the food and service, Memoirs far exceeded our expectations and we got comment and after comment from family and friends afterwards (including all our farm-to-table/gourmet foodie friends, both local and from the mainland) that this was the best wedding food they'd ever had. We fully agreed - I only wish Memoirs had a full-time restaurant too so we could keep enjoying! We opted for ohana style service, which was perfect for the social mood we wanted and for the types of dishes we had (the ahi lumpia cone pupu, mac nut cloud salad greens, roasted vegetables, and fresh catch were particularly exceptional...and that was only half the menu!). I've never written a Yelp review in my life, but I'm going to write an "essay" right now because that's how much I LOOOOOOVED Memoirs (especially Rosanna and Thomas) and I wanted to share with the whole world how great they are! When we first started looking at catering companies (and food options), we didn't know where to even start. We didn't even know what we wanted at our own wedding. Randomly, we found Memoirs on Yelp and we contacted them. Because we both travel a lot for work, we are hardly home together, so that was a challenging part for us already. However, we got a response from them right away, and we were able to schedule a meeting that matched all of our schedules. After speaking to Thomas and Rosanna in their office, it was so obvious for both of us that they were so friendly, easy going, welcoming, and VERY professional! And most importantly, we could tell that they both LOVE with passion and they are so stinkin' good at what they do! One of the highlights during the very first meeting was when they shared a story about how they are flexible and willing to do ANYTHING for the guests. Apparently, in the past, they had a last minute guest who came up to them saying that there was a guest with a severe food allergy. This is when the guests were being fed, and it was so last minute that there was nothing that anyone could really do for that person. I would've totally given up and asked the guest to eat fruit... or rice... or to keep drinking water to keep the tummy filled. But what did Memoirs do? They ran to multiple hotel kitchens around the venue and asked them to make good warm food that's edible for the guest with the severe allergy! When I heard the story, I got goosebumps. I was amazed and speechless. I've never seen anyone that goes above and beyond like Memoirs does. From hearing this story, I knew instantly that I could trust them fully and they would accommodate our needs willingly. Although it was the very first caterer that we visited and had a meeting with, we both knew instantly that we wanted to go with Memoirs! It was not a hard decision at all, even though we both are so indecisive and hate making decisions. Our car was parked right by their office, and even before we got back in the car after the meeting, we looked at each other and did the "This is it!" look. The hardest decision we had to make (in a good way) was to choose and decide on the food menu, because during sampling, everything was too good! And because they are so very accommodating, they told us that we could create our own menu if we can provide receipts for them. During the planning phase, they were SO quick at responding to emails (Thomas even responded to my email with a list of questions even though he was on his vacation. Incredible!). Even when it wasn't food related questions (wedding time line... renting equipment... etc.), they responded and gave us their opinions - usually within a day, if not the same day during business hours. The busiest and most stressful time of my whole entire life seriously became much less stressed because of Thomas and Rosanna! Fast forward to our wedding day- We ended up having little over 60 guests. The weather forecast was horrible (94% chance of rain/storm) for almost a week. A couple of days before the wedding, we ended up changing the layout of the venue, the layout of inside the tent (so people wouldn't get wet) and many more last minute changes. Rosanna was so quick and flexible and even gave us suggestions as we were setting them up the day of. When we didn't have enough dinner forks, she picked up my phone call, and before I even hung up (quick 30 seconds phone call), I knew they will get enough forks. There were a lot of "small challenges" but they managed to get EVERYTHING done on time. Especially because we didn't have a wedding planner, we needed a lot of guidance and help and suggestions/thoughts/ideas from family and friends and whoever that was around us - and Memoirs was our main source of help. We are so blessed that they accepted to be a part of our big day. Besides the fact that my wife and I decided to marry each other, choosing and asking Memoirs to be a part of our wedding is seriously THE BEST DECISION THAT WE BOTH MADE TOGETHER AS A HUSBAND AND A WIFE. If we have to go back and start the planning all over again, we would totally choose Memoirs again! I cannot thank Rosanna, Thomas, and the whole crew enough! read more

We could not have asked for a more beautiful or delicious meal for our Jan. 2 2014 wedding. Chef Peter and his team created a menu many of our guests called "not just the best wedding meal, the best meal" they'd ever had. Chef Peter created a menu that reflected our personal taste and even made perogies for my groom who loves them. The menu is upscale but not stuffy at all. The presentation was amazing the day of and the serving staff, fun and professional. Highlights were the handmade perogies but most guests LOVED the fresh fish action station cooked right there as they waited. Aside from a perfect day of, the entire process of working with Memoirs was great. Drew in the office and Gabriella the catering manager answered all my dozens of emails and helped make sure all the rentals we needed we in place. Having an office manager and catering manager made the process seamless and totally stress free. The tasting was fantastic and made us so comfortable with out food choices and allowed us to get the perfect menu for us. If you are planning a wedding in Hawaii, absolutely use Memoirs. Memoirs catered a closing banquet for a UH conference at the beginning of August. They were amazing! I selected Memoirs as the caterer because the very first time I spoke to Thomas, I felt confident that they would work with me for a successful event within our budget and other constraints. They did not disappoint. The event was held at Bishop Museum, and they worked really well with the on-site staff. Throughout the planning process, through several changes in numbers and menu and rentals (blah blah blah) - they worked with me, and although I felt like maybe I was being challenging, Thomas and Rosanna never made me feel that way. Day of event -- staff was incredibly impressive. They showed up early, got right to work (before the supervisor showed up), and the space (Atherton Halau) transformed into a really gorgeous venue -- with pre-planning with Rosanna and then the aesthetic sensibilities of the staff. Everything was flawless -- including running out of the first vegetable. The on-site chef just whipped up something else for veggie (and maybe it was even better than the original offering!). The attendees were incredibly impressed with the food -- which is almost all locally sourced, with fresh local-caught fish. I had a pasta/veggie + fish buffet, which in hindsight was maybe risky, but people were so impressed with the fish. This wasn't a wedding so it had a different kind of stress, but I feel confident in highly recommending Memoirs for any event as a great stress-reduction. They really really take pride in what they do, and they do it very well. read more

Peter Foster and his crew are over the top wonderful. I used Peter (Memoirs) five years ago for my 60th. birthday celebration and he was amazing. Five years latter for my 65th. "Birthday Bash" I called Peter and arranged for his services again and I can only say he gets better and better. Once again all of my family and friends raved about how wonderful the food and service was and what a great experience it is to taste his food. Peter made a Pink Snapper dish that was so over the top delicious that I could nor believe that it was actually fish. This company is absolutely the best! We had the pleasure of using them at our wedding this past March. Not only is Thomas and Chef Peter the best to work with but they made everything so easy and stress free. We had a destination wedding of 105 people from California in which still rave about the food till this day! The food was family style which was a hit but the apps and main courses were all so amazing. We also got all our alcohol at Costco and they were able to keep it with them and transport it to the wedding! Amazing!! I was fortunate enough to meet my wedding coordinator through Memoirs as well. Memoirs Hawaii is a top notch caterer in Honolulu. I had contacted Chef Peter reagring catering my daughter;s wedding and told him I was going to be in Honolulu for only one day on November 30th and asked him if we could taste his food on that day. Chef Peter was extremely accommodating and arranged for a tasting that evening and even picked us up and brought us back in his van. Many caterers charge for tastings, but Chef Peter did it at no charge. We were impressed with this service. We had discussed our proposed menu in advance and Chef Peter and his staff prepared samples of our proposed food for us to taste. All I can say is DELICIOUS! Some of the items we tried were the samosa appetizers which were substantially sized and very tasty. The beef carpaccio appetizer was superb and the scallop appetizer was unbelievable! We tried 2 main dishes, a fish dish and a beef dish, both of which were exquisitely prepared. We have 100% confidence that the guests at the wedding will be impressed with the great food. Chef Peter's kitchen is well equipped and organized. He is going to bring a portable stove to the wedding so the food will be freshly prepared since the wedding venue has no usable kitchen. Again, we were impressed. Chef Peter was very accommodating to our special requests for a few of the guests. I didn't set foot in Hawaii until three days before we were married in June 2014, so EVERYTHING was done based off of reviews. After reading the overwhelmingly positive reviews from Memoirs, I perused their site and wow was I impressed- not typical "wedding food" at all and so much of it taken from their very own farm? I was already hooked. From the very first interactions with the team at Memoirs any lingering doubts or thoughts of using our venue as a caterer was erased. They are some incredibly cool, lighthearted and friendly people who just love what they do and it really shows. All responses were exceptionally timely and they answered any and all queries thoroughly and even offered suggestions or things I may not have thought of since I didn't have a coordinator. Their timeliness was EXTREMELY appreciated as I lived in Australia and Singapore during the planing process and was only able to call once. We were able to taste our food a couple of days before the wedding when we got to Oahu... WOW. We were blown out of the water and knew we had made the right choice. The presentation was exquisite, and everything we had was cooked to perfection. When we started planning we wanted food and alcohol to be the focus of the event and knew we were set as soon as we started the tasting. Our menu consisted of their Mac n Cheese balls with homemade ketchup... Yum!, the hamachi avocado truffle ceviche in lumpia cones, and the shrimp in coconut lime emulsion was soooo delicious! I'm not one to write home about salads, but their shaved fennel. tomato, asparagus salad with lemon parmesan dressing was so light and flavourful- definitely a surprise! As for our entrees, we had the catch over soba noodles.. this was the best fish EVER. The sauce they use was impeccable! We also had the Kailua pig with cornbread and the brined masala chicken with fried shallots (such a great touch!). Their food truly is levels above the rest, not just a cut above! We also had the malasadas and though I didn't have the opportunity to try them, all our guests complimented us on how unique and memorable (and tasty!!) they were. The chefs were also more than willing to accommodate my guests with celiac which was wonderful. I particularly have to single out Gabby for her exceptional skills and willingness to help in any way before even being asked (particularly day of!). She was incredible. Just have to say I'm glad we didn't book a co-ordinator because Gabby knew how things should be run! Everything was seamless and she is so delightfully kind hearted. Thanks Gabby for EVERYTHING! I couldn't recommend Memoirs any more highly as not only did we receive compliments for the weeks following our event on how incredible the food was, but the Staff went above and beyond in absolutely every regard. One of them was even willing to dance with my intoxicated mother when she dragged him onto the dance floor, the poor guy! They did everything with an exceedingly positive, humble, and helpful attitude and were hands down the best vendor we had at our wedding! Book them now! read more
