I was so impressed with EVERY staff person we encountered from nurses aides to social workers!

I am sharing this because my sister's experience at Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital was deeply concerning and we believe it deserves attention. My sister is currently battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer and went to the ER on August 3, 2026 after coughing up blood multiple times within 24 hours. During her visit, the physician became hostile after learning she had previously filed a complaint about his care. He referenced her complaint, and she reports he made a discriminatory statement toward her. She requested the physician's name so she could properly document her concerns and file a grievance, but staff refused to provide it. She also requested another physician and was told one would not be provided. She left feeling dismissed and distressed and ultimately sought care at another hospital. After reviewing her medical records, we saw they lied on why she left. They said she wanted other medication when they had not even evaluated her yet, not did she asks for any meds. This place is abhorrent!! They know what they are doing is violating patient rights and do not care. They think they are above law and compliance. The Most Awful Hospital Experience This has been one of the most awful and frightening experiences I have ever had in a hospital. I was brought here by ambulance after going into anaphylactic shock, and I expected to feel safe and cared for. Unfortunately, I have felt anything but that. I have received very little help from my nurse. When I ask other staff members for assistance, I am repeatedly told they will notify my nurse, but it can take over an hour before anyone responds. The machine beside me has been continuously beeping about every five minutes, and no one will come to address it. After repeatedly asking for help, I eventually gave up and have been sitting in a chair for six hours, simply so I can push the button myself to stop the alarm. This is completely unacceptable, especially for someone who has been through a serious medical emergency. I was also told I would be moved to another room, but I am still in the trauma unit with no ETA. At this point, I honestly feel like I may be discharged from here before I ever get moved. What has been even more terrifying is what has happened directly outside my room. Two extremely disturbing incidents occurred right outside my door, including one person yelling that he wanted someone to shoot him. I was absolutely terrified. I was crying uncontrollably and begged to be moved because I did not feel safe. I told my nurse directly that I felt unsafe and terrified and specifically asked that my concerns be documented in my medical record. She told me, "You're safe," and said someone would come in to speak with me. No one ever came. I was moved to the ER at 6am, the loud beeping was not only louder but constant and didn't have that button I could push to stop it. I actually grabbed the pillow and sheet and went to the bathroom and tried to sleep on the floor until someone knocked and needed in there. I went back to my room and just stood on the doorway crying and a nurse yelled from across the hallway ' do you need help' and I said I can't bare the beeping noise and she yelled back ' get in your bed I'll be there in a moment '. I've never been so humiliated in my life. I have now been awake for approximately 24 hours, I am exhausted, extremely anxious, and emotionally overwhelmed. I cannot stop crying. After being brought here in an ambulance for anaphylactic shock, I should not have to spend hours feeling ignored, frightened, and unsafe. I understand that hospitals are busy and that staff members have difficult jobs. But patients who are scared, medically vulnerable, and asking for help deserve to be listened to and treated with compassion. I sincerely hope hospital administration takes this review seriously and investigates what happened. No patient should have to sit alone in a chair for six hours pushing a beeping machine's button or beg repeatedly for help while feeling unsafe and terrified. read more

" Dr. Indira Vanguru, Norma and Dominique" I absolutely love my Medical Doctor, she is absolutely phenomenal. She listens to all of my concerns, address them accordingly, she is not afraid to provide the best options for me. She is not just a person who will put you on medication quickly she believes in allowing the patient to make changes and then she will recommend. What can I say about her two Medical Assistants. They are so professional and kind. NORMA and DOMINUQUE, follow up regularly when I have concerns. They respond on time. They are very attentive and they are always willing to go over and beyond. I believe they should be recognized because as a nurse I can promise you this is rare. These ladies are very sweet and get the job done. I always look forward to my appts. read more

This is our local hospital and we couldn't ask for a better place to. Nursing staff? Top notch. Physicians & surgeons? Outstanding. Check in is quick & easy. Communication is excellent. Results have ALWAYS been been great. It's a busy ER tbh - but they do the very best to be both efficient & effective. read more

Wonderful facility. I know everyone's experience can be different, however, I had to come here twice in 2 days. I visited the emergency department, I must say the NP Patrick the first day was amazing. He was caring, compassionate and patient with me. He is amazing and a true asset to the medical field Day 2- Alison RN who was my nurse and lab specialist was phenomenal. She truly has a heart of gold. We need more like her. I went down physically to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Katy on July 15 th to offer a settlement on a $60 dispute on a $360 total charge. They took my offer of $300 and gave me a receipt # 1643862 showing the account was paid in full. Now they are billing me monthly for the $60. I sent my receipt into the billing office and no response. I call the billing office and got nowhere. This is corporate greed with no accountability and a poorly run company. I've visited this location the past 2 years. Scheduling online is a breeze and thankfully you have a choice of times that are convenient for you. The wait is always quick. Each tech that I've encountered has been pleasant and inviting. Today was the first time I was asked to make my lab copy during the visit. At least I won't have to wait for the bill. When my mom was in the ICU she was taken care of by a good staff but the reason I'm writing a 1 star review is when the released her she had to stay in a horrible room with a completely rude staff. They all of a sudden didn't care about her at all. She fell and fractured her scull. They didn't give her a packet on what to do and what not to do. No prescriptions nor nothing. If you care for your loved one's stay away from this crappy hospital. Big middle finger to the staff was totally rude to my 86 year old mom. read more

You make faithful payments to settle your bill but they still send you to collections and never even send you any communication that your bill is supposed to be settled by a certain date! Have your online payment system give you the full details and don't have the customer second guessing why their account has gone to collections when payments are being made!!! AND have the decency to COMMUNICATE that the account is being sent to collections instead of just sending the account to a debt collector YOU DUMB FUCKS!!!! It's important to know that hospitals are huge, some people's experiences could be different as a result. But our family's experience was awful. Our mother went to the ER where they kept her to run some tests. We kept trying to get updates as no one contacted us. Eventually they called at 3/4AM, and called the wrong numbers. We had given them our updated contact info multiple times, but they didn't call the primary and secondary numbers. Then came more time where we weren't given updates. They then transferred her overnight to the medical center location without letting our family know. On top of the contact info and they didn't even go over her medical history and updated med list. When she got to the medical center, it just got worse. Still, no one bothered checking her medical history, med list, or contact information. The staff was extremely cold and rude. Her room was dirty and unkept. The list goes on. We're never giving Memorial Hermann our time ever again. read more

I have had gallbladder issues for the last 4 years. I had frequent attacks and came here quite a few times whenever it got to be too much. I went in Sunday morning after an 18 hour long attack. Dr. Khoury was my surgeon, he took me very seriously and put me at ease that he was going to help me and he did. He did great. Nurses that were fantastic: Cynthia, Jude, and the lady who worked Tuesday (June 18th-June 19th morning) overnight. I was on the 6th floor East Tower. They had so much compassion and care for me. Gloria ignored me a lot, I had to beg and plead for help with the restroom and pain. She finally came after 45 minutes. She clearly wasn't busy saving someone's life when she was ignoring me, no apology no explanation. She couldn't have acted less nonchalant. Dr. Amber Garza is cold and has zero empathy. You need to pull her teeth for pain medication....after a SURGERY. An African woman worked Wednesday (June 19th-June 20th morning) Thought everything was so funny. I was crying in pain really believing I was dying, or something was wrong. I was so afraid and this woman laughed in my face. Several times. She is a problem. read more

I stayed overnight after my surgery. I had some great nurse and some were just there. I didn't like the fact that when I was getting ready to be discharged the nurse wasn't friendly and didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. Wasted a whole new bag of IV that I was charged for but didn't need since she couldn't get the machine to work or stop making the noise. read more

Forgot to return prescription meds on discharge, gave someone else's vena cava filter card - so much for HIPAA. Charted at 170 lb., 6' 1", patient as morbidly obese - and wouldn't remove the incorrect information. It goes on and on. read more

Came here on 07/09/24 at around 4:30am to the Emergency Care. There were about 5-10 people at the time. Checked in at the front desk. Ladies in the back will ignore you so you have to speak up if you're going to have to ask for something. Just came in for back pains/muscle spasm. Wasn't seen until around 8am/9am. They wrote down paper work and then was seated back at the waiting room. Wasn't called to the back until around 12 noon for the CT scan. It is currently 11:09pm and i'm still waiting for results. Supposedly systems are "down", but i clearly see many people come in and out. If you want service to be done with patient care, don't come here as this place is a joke. Seen 3-4 shift changes and nothing is done at this hospital. What a shame. read more

My stay after my son's arrival was definitely lacking. The L&D staff were amazing! The postpartum care was a nightmare. From being forced to wear a heart monitor that would beep when I fell asleep, being forced to stay awake for 48 hours after giving birth, a postpartum nurse that told me I wouldn't be able to leave with my son if I didn't give my baby formula, being forced to see a cardiologist (even though I provided medical records) and then being charged for the service I didn't want (the hospital lied and said I asked for the service and coded it that way -even though I was told I wouldn't be able to leave unless I did it) until I had to threaten to sue for it to come off my list of medical charges. I could go on and on. I will not be having another baby at this location but I hope the other services it provides are better than the experience I had. read more

At the moment I'm still in Memorial Hermann Medical Center, waiting for my 2nd operation due to complications. The pain in my abdomen began on Sunday 05/16, above the navel, at the center. I thought it was a stomachache because I used to have it due to acid reflux, so I drank medicine, warm water, honey, kept the abdomen warm, and ate some light porridge. I also thought it was the stomach flu, but I didn't vomit or have diarrhea, so I counted that out. By the evening the pain grew stronger, my body curled up. My family was hurting for me, took me to the Methodist 24hours Care Katy, the place was empty. I thought that was nice since I wouldn't have to wait. They did all sorts of tests. Blood, urine, CT, ultrasound... They then concluded I had nothing, discharged me with a prescribed painkiller, saying that it was probably my stomachache acting up again, so I should follow up with my GI doctor (gastro doctor). I came home, sleepless because of the pain. On the 2nd afternoon the pain spread to my lower abdomen, both left and right regions, painful to the touch. It was so painful I couldn't sit up, move. I'd simply sob. My family called an ambulance for me to pick me up and to take me to the nearest hospital. To Memorial Hermann Katy I went. Entering MH Katy, it was not crowded. They had me redone all the tests like the other place. Results came out at 3 pm, saying I had appendicitis and must operate. I've always thought appendicitis would require immediate operation, and besides I'd been in pain for 2 days already, so I was mentally prepared to be on the table. read more

Urgent Care sent my husband to Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital with STAT instructions for problem with gallbladder. Patient in severe pain was forced to sit in wheelchair for over 8 hours because they had no beds in er. Put patient on Morphine after 5 hours and a blood draw. Then after 7 hrs did CT scan. Still waiting to find out what is wrong. Poor. Poor service. Not enough staff. Will not allow family to sit with patient during these 8 hrs. Can only call patient every once in a while. Dirty cafeteria tables. Dirty lobby tables. Bathrooms out of paper towels and hand sanitizer stations empty. This is December lots of flu and Covid patients. My wife came here after visiting her primary care for several throat pain and swelling. She was screened for strep and COVID and sent home after negative testing. The next day, she went back to the ER because the pain had worsened. NP Patel recognized her immediately and got her registered for full diagnostic testing. Thanks to this NP's diligence and recognizing the seriousness of my wife's condition, they discovered that my wife was in the early stages of thyroid cancer. We were able to attack the disease early on, which ultimately saved half of her thyroid and, potentially, her life. I will be forever grateful. read more

Could not be more disappointed with level of care I received following scheduled c-section. I was left on catheter for over 24 hours - had to request its removal. Experienced a large bedsore because of my inability to move while catheterized. I was never offered food or drink or even a menu during the entirety of my stay. I was scolded by a nurse regarding my son's diaper when he returned from some additional unplanned testing after he was away for a couple of hours. I never knew this was not considered a normal experience until I spoke with other moms and a former nurse after the fact. The quality of care from this hospital is horrendous! My aunt went to the hospital complaining of pain in the abdomen area. They decided to run test and do a colonoscopy. They did not put her under during the colonoscopy which I've never in my life have heard of anyone doing this. On top of being treated horribly during the colonoscopy she had nurses coming in and out of the room literally calling her a liar and lazy to her face and that she did not want to work. After several tests they came back with she had advanced cancer in the kidney area. They were suppose to perform surgery Monday but then said that they were too tired and did not have the equipment to perform the surgery. They then told her today after drugging her with heavy pain medication that she needed to go home until surgery which they themselves said they did not know when that would be. Horrible hospital, horrible staff and doctors. The amount of negligence is beyond me. Avoid this place if you have cancer they do not give a shit and will treat you that way. read more

I went to the ER May 25 with chest pain and shortness of breath and pain down my left arm. I had contacted my cardiologist and was told to go to the ER immediately. I went to Memorial Hermann Katy ER. I was assessed and put into the triage room. Two nurses in there ran EKG on me. A tall tattooed man came into the room, said he was the ENT. He said, "What's going on?" I begin to express why I came to the ER, telling him I have a present heart condition and explaining to him about the symptoms I was having. He was rude, abrupt as spoke loudly to me, abruptly saying, "You are just all over the place!! Just answer my questions, I need yes and no answers to my questions!" The two nurses in the room begin to giggle and laugh. This is the worst display of unprofessionalism in the medical triage I have ever experienced and totally unacceptable! I reported this ENT whose name I later found out to the charge nurse on duty in the ER. The charge nurse told me he would address this behavior, I expressed they should be fired! That to treat a patient who is experiencing symptoms enough to send them to an ER, who is probably already in fear of what to expect to be treated in such a rude and uncaring and unempathetic manner with lack of compassion by someone who reports to be a medical professional is horrible!! If the person doesn't like his job, he should leave and go find another field to work, as for the two nurses who were giggling under breath laughing because the man was a abrupt with me they as well have no business being in the medical profession either. I ended up having to be admitted to the hospital and have cardiac catheterization. It's also a sad state of affairs when one looks up the website for Memorial Hermann Katy ER and find out their ER only rates two stars. The hospital itself only has three stars. This should shout volumes to the Hospital, HR and Medical Teams that there is a definite significant problem within their medical facility that should be researched and addressed immediately and training on how to treat patients with professionalism and true caring and compassion!!! I've went into the emergency room at 8:00 in the morning because I had fell out of bed and had two large knots on my head. I waited to almost 10 hours to get to my room.. I guess about five the doctor decided he needed to keep me so I waited from 5:00 to 7:30 8:45 to get a room. The people that run this hospital should learn when they should go on standby instead of just admitting and treating people.They do not have room for.I finally got to my room I was never offer a gown I wore the same dress for 3 daysthat I had on Fri about 4:00 when I was released. My doctor there also did not let me have regular med asked repeatedly. regular medicide. I'm a diabetic I asked and they would just say well the doctor only prescribed to us what is up with that a diabetic shouldn't have to go without through medicine. Now about the nurses every nurse I had was nice but each nurse has six patients so that means that they have 10 minutes to give you. They hook me up iv and then that if I had to go to the bathroom they would come help me. night nurse was just wonderful Daniel as far as trying to get there and send us helper the day nurses was a little slower but I learned it if I would get up out of my bed they would show up right away cuz it's beeping. The problem I have with this hospital is not with any of the nurses it's the fact that they keep accepting patients when they don't have rooms and then you have people that are laying out in the hallways and we're talking 20 25 people we're not talking just a few. I was told they have a room to send people to while you wait for a room and then I was told it was full and this is why you have people out in the Halls. When you are overbooked nobody wins. So this message is to the members of the board go on standby when you no longer have room for patients to be admitted. I got to my room about 8:30 nurses can not take care of you because are short staffed on everything. They either need to hire more people or quit accepting so many patients god sakes go on standby you can't be that money hungry. read more

my 6 months old boy went to e. r yesterday and Sydney, 1 inexperienced staff picked my boy up to weight on the scale and he negligently dropped him causing my boy hit himself on the head, then not even 1 word apologize instead asking me back" he can't sit?" I initially saw Dr. Vanguru back in March 2023 for work-related caused high blood pressure and anxiety, she was quick to prescribe me meds for my anxiety instead of suggesting healthy ways of coping with my health. I ended up quitting my job after my therapist suggested that "the job" was the main problem causing my blood pressure to elevate and anxiety, and since then my blood pressure has been regulated. I recently saw Dr. Vanguru again in October 2023, for sharp pain in my left hand as I have been experiencing indentations on my left arm that left bruising for hours and also discussed that I felt anxiety at night. Her response to my anxiety, "I will prescribe you medication" (of course). Her response to my hand/arm concerns, "I'm not concerned about your hand, if you want you can go see a hand specialist" (....like what? What am I paying you for then?) She's quick to prescribe medications instead of getting to the root cause problem of what may be causing your illness. She does NOT sympathize with patients and does not truly listen to her patient's request or concerns. If you are currently her patient, I HIGHLY recommend you get a second opinion of your current treatment plan. I would rate her a ZERO if Yelp had that option. read more

Not a good place. They don't seem capable of handling the number of people coming in. See pic for what the "good" waiting room looks like. Update: They finally moved me out of the waiting room into some sort of intake room where they finally got me into a room after another hour. Update: Got my room. Needless to say the experience didn't improve. The equipment is very old and my room was more like a prison cell (see photo of toilet). If I didn't want to use the prison toilet then I had to use the "outhouse" (a slightly better restroom) down the hall. Update: I spent the night and it seems like the people want to do well but they are just overworked. Generally speaking the people are competent but have little time for any individual patient. Update: my opinion of the staff has changed. Just had an incident where my IV was beeping with a nice red light. After abut 5 minutes of this I called the nurses station...no response. I figured out what was going on and reset the IV on my own. When the nurse finally did pick up the call she didn't say anything just turned off speaker. Update: So my impression of the staff continues to nosedive. I've just been diagnosed with an illness that requires injections before I eat. The nurse told me to order, which I did, but when the food came my instincts took over and I started eating. Fortunately I only took a couple of bites before I realized something was wrong. I had a friend of mine alert the nurse and I waited to get my shot. I don't know what would have happened if I ate all the food without my shot but this just further shows me the staff are not alert. Update: I think I'm getting out today. Will give final thoughts when I am home. Update: So I finally got out and it has been about a two weeks. I got the bill for everything ($3999.00) and am moving on. Sadly my insurance sucks so I'll be forced to go back there if necessary. Sucks to be me. read more

NEVER GO HERE. I too my girlfriend here concerning a minor cold and they've been running all sorts of unnecessary test that she either didn't request, or turned down. They had male doctors conducting compromising examinations where there should have been a female doctor or nurse handling such procedure.
