This park is so peaceful and tranquil. Even though the water is choppy with boo boo brown hue. I still enjoy sitting by it! Everyone gets along in this park except for the occasional lil dog yapping at a big dog who ignores him . You can do a lot in this park biking, walking, running , people watching, meeting and talking to new people and just plain soaking up the sun! I name it Serenity Park! Luv this place! read more

I adore Memorial Park. It's an excellent spot for an open space in Riverside. Grab a smoothie from Smoothie King, a coffee from Starbucks, or even a salad or something from one of the local joints in the area, then head over here for a walk or to go enjoy the view of the river and the city. The field is completely multi-purpose. On various visits, I've seen hula hoopers, frisbee throwers, bubble makers, families tossing around a football or kicking around a soccer ball, or just people laying back enjoying the sunshine or having a picnic. Just the other day, I was doing yoga in the field with a new yoga group that is starting up via Birdies bar. Unfortunately, we ended up getting rained out about half way through, but that's Florida for ya. There's a sidewalk that circles the entire park, which is great if you want to do laps or even just casually walk with your dog. If you need to find some serenity in Jacksonville and don't want to travel too far, Memorial Park is the idyllic spot that you are seeking. read more

This peaceful, simple park is one of my go-to destinations for my morning bike rides. It's a great place to sit in the shade, listen to the birds, watch the older ladies do their walks in the morning or feed the happy squirrels. Lovers sit side by side and stare out into the water. As the afternoon approaches, families make their way in and soak up some sun. Grass and the literally cool stone benches are great for reading a good book or taking a little nap. read more

Memorial Park is probably one of the best parks in all of Jacksonville. It has a huge grassy lawn that backs up to the St Johns River, with a statue sitting at the center of the park, just by the river's edge. Trees line the bank of the river and provide little nooks of shade, if you want an escape from the sun. There are benches scattered along the path that runs along the perimeter of the park and along the bank of the river, which are great for sitting at the eat a quick sandwich on your lunch break and enjoy the beautiful view. My favorite thing to do at Memorial Park is bring a blanket, lay it out on the large grassy lawn, lay under the sun, and read a book. Or, come with friends and play a game. Or come with friends and read a book. Or, come with friends, bring a dog, read a book, and play with the pup! Or, play with someone else's pup that is bound to be wandering around sans leash, running free. There is such a sense of freedom and comradery here. It's so peaceful, yet still in the heart of Riverside's 5 Points district. So, go to Publix, grab a sub, run by Starbucks and grab a coffee, and cross the street to Memorial Park for a nice relaxing day under the sun. Simple as that. read more

This is my favorite park in Jacksonville. A great place to go if you are near riverside. People play sports, have picnics, bring their dogs, go on walks, and sit by the river. On the weekend there is always a lot of physical activity going on. Acroyoga on Sundays! There is not very many parking options and there are no restrooms, but these negatives are totally worth the experience of spending a day in memorial park. The park is always very clean and absolutely beautiful!!! read more

I just love Memorial Park! Last Sunday, we went to a little local spot for brunch, then made our way to Memorial Park with some friends to shoot some engagement photos. The view of the river is amazing. There is a nice flat, cleared space in the middle for taking a blanket and soaking up some rays. We had the pup with us, and there were quite a few other dog lovers out. My apologizes to the old lady that Maeby (aka Houdini) ran up to after she managed to wiggle off her leash. Not a ton of parking, unless you walk across the street from the Publix lot, unless you can parallel like a champ! (Only took me two tries!) But seriously, a gorgeous little piece of property, with beautiful scenic views for some natural peace of mind. read more

A lovely little park, glorious in simplicity and location. Round greenspace, bounded by a circular sidewalk and crowned by the beautiful St. John's River. The triumphant statue of an angel presiding over all. Look closer and you'll see that it's a memorial to the people who lived through or didn't live through the war. Fish, walk, run, enjoy the sun. Memorial Park - one of the reflections of Jax's huge park system, located in Riverside. I love to bring my wife and pup here for a walk around the large loop and to sit by the river and enjoy a cool breeze. The city finally fixed the water feature - the large swirly world with the male statue figure protruding out of the top; no frills, just nice clear water finally filling the basin. The large open grassy area is a nice place to have a picnic in the sun. Currently the grass is ripped up from LARP'ers and other sporting events tearing up the field.... There is ample shaded area for those seeking sun relief. The park is adjacent to the mini shopping complex that houses Publix and Starbucks, as well as Tijuana Flats. This is a dog friendly park - one of our favorite features. They've recently installed dog-waste bag dispensers at the entrances and have trash cans throughout the loop. They have signs that the leash law is enforced, but we sometimes see family dogs playing frisbee or fetch off leash. Parking can be a bit tough at busy times - if the shopping complex is full, check the street to the south of the park. If that's full, the street on the north might have a spot or two open. Otherwise, park and walk. Next time you are at the RAM, walk down here to check out Memorial park. read more

Memorial park is the heart of the Riverside area. You could say 5 points and King St are the soul, but this park is definitely the lifeblood. From the picnics to the soccer games to the yoga and the weddings. I've seen you can literally do it all here. The expansive views of the St Johns River give everyone a chance to relax and enjoy it's beauty. The enormous statue and fountain are iconic, even though I have know idea what it represents. Maybe I should get on that though, seeming all street signs in the historic area are printed with it! My wife and I love to bike here from our house on sunny days. We take a thin sarong cloth to sit on, a 6 pack of beer and a blue tooth speaker. It's always an awesome time! The people watching couldn't be better and it's just a great place to spend time with your friends and family. If I could add or change one thing it would be to add a bathroom. There are a bunch of businesses on Margaret St you can use, but it's kind of a hassle. Or maybe I should just lay off the beer. ;) read more

There is still no gate barrier replacement on the river walkway from when it was lost due to Hurricane Irma so you have to look out onto a temporary barricades with bright orange lattice. read more

A hidden treasure. My wife and daughter enjoyed a fantastic picnic here in a shaded spot near the road. It was open enough to enjoy a friendly game of flag football and provided my 7 month old a chance to enjoy the outdoors and watch puppies play. Not much to say about this place other than it is a favorite, by far. You are missing out if you do not spend Saturday or Sunday here on a beautiful, clear day. I love this park. It's very quaint and a perfect getaway. They've also fixed the fountain, so it's no longer full of moldy water and trash! Woo!! Grab a drink from Starbucks, to-go sushi, or even run into Publix for some fruit and spend some time here. This place is a sanctuary. It is a place to run, to read, to relax, have a picnic, see manatees, to catch some rays.... whatever you need. It is super clean and safe. To be honest, spending time here has partly validated my move to the neighborhood. During the week there isn't much going on so it can be a quiet spot to read, have some lunch and get away. On the weekends it is bustling and way to connect with the community...if that's your m.o. There is so much space here, that no matter what day you can get the feel you are looking for. You'll see families having picnics, people playing sports and watch (or participate in) some LARPing (don't know it? look it up). I seriously don't see how someone could NOT love Memorial Park! The third oldest park in Jacksonville, Memorial Park is one of my favorite landmarks as a Jacksonville native. I have so many memories at this park. Coincidentally, my first visit to Memorial Park corresponded with my first experience with Sushi Cafe, which is still in the plaza across the street. Awesome picnic food, btw. I've been here for picnics, Best Buddies Day, kickball, kite flying, picture taking... I even smoked my first hookah at 16 sitting in the middle of this park! This park is like Goldilocks... not too big, not too small, but just right. Great for dogs, also! (Remember: pick IT up!) It has a beautiful view of the St. John's River, which gives off great breezes. Majestic arbors create the border for the circular concrete path. And the sculpture, "Life," by Pillars is gorgeous and is the cherry on top of the purpose of the park. Next time you see the Community Hospice commercial with the two men playing chess (maybe checkers), look closely... they're in Memorial Park! read more

Love this place! I've only been there twice, but I had such a great time on both occasions! Went today and saw a group of teenagers having fun and taking pictures for prom and I also witnessed a family playing soccer (and joined them lol)--so many wonderful and friendly people! It's just such a fantastic spot to either chill out and look out at the St.Johns river or play frisbee with your friends. Great place to launch a small to medium size boat. Never too busy, plenty of parking and they also have some nice benches. The bathrooms are not very clean, but it's there. Most places and parks you launch a boat from won't even have bathrooms, so even if it's not the cleanest, it's a plus. read more

While there is no playground here, this is one of the best parks in Jacksonville. Memorial Park sits on Jacksonville's Saint John's River and has a nice circular walking path that leads to the riverfront and a big fountain. Inside the circular area is a big green space that will often host frisbee games, or a quick game of catch. Walking distance from this park are several great restaurants including Black Sheep, Moss Fire Grill and the whole Five Points Strip. There is also a Starbucks close to the park if you want to grab a coffee before a walk. read more

We just moved to the Riverside area a few months ago and love it. One Saturday while walking back home from the farmer's market, we strolled into the park. It was beautiful, lush, well-manicured, and had a bit of a breeze rolling in from the water. The only setback was a lack of seating in the shade. We saw families picnicking, friends catching Pokemon, and boaters enjoying the day on the water. And, we were inspired after reading the plaque on the monument and then understood why it's called Memorial Park. We're thankful for this beautiful park and its touching memorial to our nation's heroes. read more

It is a nice place to go and hang around and enjoy a picnic on a nice day. The park is always in good condition and well taken care of.

I love this little park right on the river located close to downtown. If time permits, I will park as close to the park as I can, grab a sandwich at Publix across the street and enjoy lunch on a bench in the park before walking a couple of laps around and getting back to work. There are no picnic tables but if the weather is nice you can throw a blanket down in the middle of the grassy field or around the edges amidst the big beautiful oak trees or find a spot on the benches scattered around the park. This park is not big, but it is pretty and well maintained. The water's edge is sometimes busy with fishermen throwing lines in the St Johns river but usually there is still enough space to gaze out over the river hoping to see dolphins swimming by. Memorial Park is also a great spot for taking a short leisurely walk after a nice dinner at nearby Five Points or Riverside restaurants. Be warned if you not a Pokemon chaser, which I am not, it is a hot spot for the popular game. Last time we took a walk in the park on a Friday night, at least 90% of the crowd were young Pokemon enthusiasts walking around, seemingly aimlessly, staring at their cell phones. Mostly young, but people of call ages crowded around more excited to capture some cartoon character than to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Well, hey at least it gets the gamers outdoors more, and who knows a few of them might just look up from there phones long enough to see what they have been missing in the real world with nature's beauty right there in front of them. read more

This is a great place to hang out. Just outside of five points, you can take a relaxing stroll after eating at Tijuana Flats or Sushi Cafe. Or you can go fishing since the river is right there. Sometimes there are fitness groups that meet in the late afternoon. A great place to take the kids and throw a frisbee or have a picnic. read more
