The trails are well used. Bikers, runners, and walkers alike are all welcome. Any day of the week you can use the path and be assured that you won't be the only one. The paths are flat and free of garbage. Here's what I don't like...dog poop and lack of bathrooms. The dog poop I blame on the dog owners. Come on people...just bring a baggie and pick up your dogs poop! Every couple of feet there are big dog turds just off the side of the path, and sometimes on the path. I like to go for long runs sometimes, but without bathrooms it is almost impossible. There are trees off the path, and if nature calls then I sometimes find myself having to make use of them. Enjoy this gem of a trail!

In 2009, the bike trail would stop at the old wooden bridge. Now the trail is complete. I would give the trail 5 stars, but there is one issue. Roads that intersect the trail have the right-away. So becareful when you are biking at a fast pace.

I love all the metal signs with nature quotes.

I stumbled upon Bayou Greenways Park while looking for the closest trail/park to do a 20 minute…read morewalk. Bayou Greenways Park is a beautiful find. It's a nice space to slow down from the frenzied pace of city life and enjoy the beauty of Texas' bayous. You can park via Studemont St, look for a small turnout that leads into a parking lot. Then take a quick walk away from I-10 and over the pedestrian bridge. You will see a trail leading up a hill on the right side. There is a sign to Bayou Greenways Park, saying that as early as 1930 a famous landscape developer saw the potential of the bayous being a huge player In the health, recreation, and community of our city. However, the vision wasn't completed until much later through the 2020 Bayou Greenways Park plan that parks, bayous, and neighborhoods were all interconnected for the first time. Just to the right of the sign, you'll see some unique signs commenting on the scenic beauty of the Texas bayous. Then you will reach the top of a "hill" which you can go up and see the tips of Houston's skyline poking out over the trees. Check out the ground tile topographical map with etchings of the major bayous and waterways that empty out into the Gulf of Mexico. You'll see silver circles with the names of all the interconnected parks. And don't miss the steps down to a bench area overlooking the bayou. It was pretty noisy due to the construction, but I can picture this as a great place to stop, rest, and take a breather from city life.

Nice long hike and bike trail that stretches for miles along the Brays Bayou. Easy to access the…read moreroad that winds through Meyerland to the Medical Center to Hermann Park and beyond. Still a lot of construction and there are multiple closures along the trail, but the completed paved sections are smooth, open and wide. Much safer to be able to go under bridges to avoid crossing major intersections. Need a break? Lots of park benches along the way. Thirsty? The new water bottle refill stations are strategically positioned. Don't have a bike? Look for the hourly rental stations available. The trail has detention capacity that has been expanded after Hurricane Harvey that will hopefully decrease the risk of flooding to homes and property along the bayou. Nice to see so many birds, like herons, cormorants, egrets and ducks, enjoying the water along the trail. Perfect for a long bike ride on a sunny weekend.

Downside is that some portions of the trail are a bit shabby in surface quality and that there's a few lights and crossings that aren't ideal as you go towards the west. It's definitely a less busy trail than Buffalo or White Oak Bayou and is a good mix into the rotation.

This is a really picturesque place that captures the biodiversity and landscapes of the piney woods…read more/ big thicket type of ecosystem. Hines lake is a beautiful landscaped lake which features a lot of cool wildlife, awesome boardwalks, and pavilions for gathering. There are gorgeous water lilies and reeds and small trees! Only a few steps away from the lake, you can enter a wetland boardwalk, this closely mimics piney woods type of landscape with lots of loblolly pines, etc. informative posters surrounding the boardwalk help tell the story of the snags, and throws, that you can observe nearby. This quick detour loops right back towards the parking lot. You can really get lost here! I love how they preserved the nature of Houston in this park and made it enjoyable to walk through.

I like this spot because it has one of the best views of the downtown skyline from the historic Sabine Street bridge. And, second, because there is always plenty of free parking in Lot H that leads directly to this pathway. When I lived at Sabine Street Lofts for a short part of 2017/2018, I was so thankful to be able to walk out my door and enjoy this promenade with my fur babes.
