Very impressed with how nice this business is. Very well cared for on the outside, the use of the building materials and the design of the store in general is very well done. They stock the store as it presents extremely well for the customers. As in all warehouse buildings, they have so much inventory, they stack straight up; so customers can see the products available; and they most certainly carry a large selection of items in each category. Their lighting department has a vast array of styles that is bound to meet your expectations for any project; indoor , outdoor , remodel or new! Their displays are done very well and certainly help all enthusiasts with organizational needs, creation needs and style as well. They have a nice selection of the Portable Air con units, which are great for the community with many buildings from the 1920-30's era that some still use wall units , which are not only too heavy for elders and fragile individuals, they also are an eye sore. Portables offer a sleeker more modern design but also very practice purpose for the older buildings in community. Excellent. Their garden area does not have the best selection this late in June, but many shrubs and plants still for planting needs all landscapers. The service throughout the store was good. There are staff in each department willing to help, just be willing to seek them out. Impressive Yard Creation area, many patio furniture items on display and gazebo options. Ready for the July 4 holiday and those social gatherings. Definitely a good shopping and exploring creative options for your home, garage or garden needs. Large free parking lot for customers. I so enjoyed my trip to Menard's. It's like a toy store for the D-I-Yer. The lighting inside this place was SPECTACULAR!!!! It was lit up like a Christmas Tree. It was magical. I loved it. I'm not a home decorator or a person that relishes in all things home decorating and all that jazz. But with that being said, this store was a fun place for me to be. I loved walking through the aisles contemplating what I could do with the treasures I was happening upon. I couldn't resist purchasing a few things, great marketing scheme on the part of the marketing department. Everything was properly placed. Checking out was a hybrid of self check out and cashier check out. You put your items on the belt, the cashier scans them, then you pay and bag your items. read more

I'm so tired of Menards. The employees are so rude and not knowledgeable. Just did some small upgrades on our home and opened a store account. The amount of pick up charges, restock charges and refunds at a lower rate is absolutely insane. It adds up and made me regret using them from the start. What's worse is the "customer service" is vague and the employees seem to have had enough of business practices. But at least you don't have to check out your own items like every other store does now. Going to Lowe's next time for the big purchases and Ace for the smaller ones. MENARDS KEPT MY MONEY I went to buy birdseed at this location on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. When I got to the cash register I realized I only had $35 on my bank account and the bill has $50. I asked the cashier if she could return the toilet paper so I could buy the great of the items. The cashier refuses to do this simple transaction and called the manager. A young Hispanic woman came and told me that I had to purchase everything or return all and that she will keep my money (paid with a debit card) for 4-5 days. I ask her to give me the items I already paid for them with my debit card but she refused. So I walked out of Menards with minus $35 and no birdseed wasting my time and money. I would LOVE to have a Menards closer to my house. Menards is one of my favorite stores--they are usually bright and pleasant, chock-full of a wide variety of usually reasonably priced things, they have great sales and rebate deals, they send you a coupon for a birthday gift if you have a Menards card, and you can usually find help with relative ease and the help you find is usually capable of helping you! Now, some Menards are a little better (or worse) at things than others when it comes to the store set-up and help. I like this Menards because it is all on one floor--unlike some of the Menards. Now when it comes to help, I usually feel like royalty the way Menards associates assist me--in other Menards stores. Over the years, this is one store that I can't always find help easily and sometimes they are not too helpful. We really didn't notice floor help available today but managed to find what we were looking for on our own after a bit of looking for it. Cashier today wasn't quite as friendly as I am used to in a Menards. I didn't know that the coupons for birthday gift have an expiration date--but I sure do now! I would've given them 4 stars, but I didn't care for that bug that was in the plastic bin I was looking at. I'm not sure if I ever even been in a Menards, but they blow Home Depot away. They sell everything and I mean everything. I thought they were like Home Depot, but nope. They have gardening, lighting, tools, BBQ grills, toys and even grocery items. I've been minimizing outings during the pandemic but needed something only available at Menards (Home Depot was out of stock.) So many employees were not wearing masks correctly and most employees in the back at the special order counter were not wearing them at all, they just had them dangling from one ear or had them on their chins. Where else can you get a ceiling fan, wood flooring, tar and a pair of work jeans??? Well maybe Walmart but whatevs. You smell what I'm cookin! My biggest gripe with Menard's is that they are HUGE! My husband and I purchased a cast iron sink that was advertised as an in-store sale for $149.99. However, my husband realized in the parking lot that we'd been charged $199.99. He went back in and spoke to customer service who called over to the relevant department to confirm. They reported back that there was no cast iron sink in their department that was advertised at $149.99. My husband walked over to the department and took a camera photo of the sink and the advertised price and returned to the customer service desk. Puzzled over the photo that contradicted what they were told, customer service called over again and arranged to have someone meet my husband in sinks to figure out what the confusion was about. When he got there, my husband spoke with a representative who informed him that the $149.99 was relevant only to the display model. My husband asked where this was indicated and, since it wasn't, asked if he could have the price adjusted. The representative said that he wouldn't do that, and repeated that the $149.99 was only for the floor model. When my husband said that he wanted to keep the sink that was already loaded in the car (same model, mind you), and, since this was not our error, again asked for the price adjusted to reflect what was advertised, the man offered to remove the sink from our car and simply return it. Then my husband asked to speak to a manager, whereupon the representative told him that he WAS the manager. Unfortunately, my husband did not remember his name. Since it is Menards that is responsible for pricing and merchandising their products, it is unclear why this is a matter they would not have been willing to make right for us. We purchased the boxed stock based on a floor model that was marked at $149.99 with no indication that the price applied only to the floor model. This experience has left a pretty bad taste in our mouths. read more

Hats off to David for helping us re chamber our locks. Menards is a good store and I like the fact that I have a choice between Home Depot, Lowes, and Menards, but of the three I like Home Depot the most. The prices are better and the selection of goods are better. Take the paint selection for example, Home Depot has a better selection with better prices. I had keys made at Menards and eight copies didn't fit my newly redone lock chambers. The Home Depot down the street copied them with out issue. The bottom line is the difference between the three big box home improvement stores isn't that great. You don't have to drive out of your way to get to one over another. What most people fail to do is not have all their ducks in a row before they go to these places, is lost in the planing, and have to make multiple trips wasting time. Have fun! read more

Frustrating. We walk in and are initially amazed by the variety of options. We were there to purchase lumbar. Ordering was easy in that they can create an order slip based on your needs and you are at any register. That's is the end of ease. You take the slip yourself back to he lumbar yard and you're on your own. No one is set up to help, the organization is flawed, and when you try to figure it out yourself they tell you too bad lady try it all again. Tell them about your frustration and get a blank stare. Not helpful and they lack customer service. Went in from Melrose Park store to this Cicero location because we were told they had 2 - 7cu chest freezers available. Once at the Cicero location it turns out they do not have them . They only have the larger size more expensive. Very frustrating that I was given the round around and why even when Melrose location called in to make sure it was available. Spoke to Eric he offered no help and only said that it was showing up as available because someone must have ordered it. I went into the store 2 hours ago with items to return . Unfortunately I had to use the bathroom before I could return them. Since the signs say no merchandise in the bathroom I left my cart outside the bathroom. When I came out the cart was gone. I informed the manager and he said they have no cameras watching the bathroom and even though they have a camera showing me coming in with the merchandise, he said he wasn't going to do anything for me and gave me the number to menards customer service. I've been going to Menards stores for over 10 years, on the average once a week. I do my best to avoid the one in Cicero because of the store manager is extremely uncompromising with any products being returned. I ordered a custom countertop and in my purchase order stated delivery date 9/2/19. On 9/3/19 @ 10:03 am I called and was told it had arrived. When I arrived at the store to pick it up I was told it had not arrived and was just being processed. On 9/6/19 @ 11:09 am when I called i was told it was in the truck on route. On 9/9/19 @ I went to the store. Spoke to Jessica cashier manager asked what the issue was only to say she couldn't help. She got Anais the countertop manager. This is not one of the better Menards. I once went there to get some cellular shades and 2 guys working there said they could help, only to admit 30 min later that they did not know how to cut the shades (you can get them cut on-site). The lighting department is another place with issues...the few times I asked for help there, a rather less than enthusiastic employee "helped" me. Holy crap - this place is HUGE. In fact, the store is so huge it can be difficult for the first time shopper here to figure out where what he/she wants is. But I've shopped here several times over the past few months, and I now know where to go to find what I am looking for. The prices are pretty amazing - a bit cheaper than Home Depot up the road on Cicero Ave. And I always seem to find something else that I wasn't looking for - I guess they nabbed me quite well :) Great tools prices, great selection, more than a DIY store - small grocery store, small book store, etc. A fun place to just browse. read more

After going to Sam's club looking for a big bottle of lemon scented pine sol but only to find out they dont carry that item, i was happy to get two large bottles here at Menards, so it was worth the trip to this store and they give those think reusable plastic bags! read more

Lots of hot girls work here- That could be a con. Seriously. I have never seen a cashier that is male. All of them are young more often attractive females. Do they discriminate based on gender and looks? Home Depot has a much more diverse cashier crew. All over the floors you see a lot of pretty YOUNG girls. Seriously if you need help with home improvement what is an 18 year old girl who is more interested in MTV and her cell phone and boys going to help you with? Cheaper than Home Depot and bigger. Lots of things made in the USA but the quality can vary widely. AVOID their clothing, gloves, hats at all costs- pretty much dollar general quality it will only last one season. Stick to brands you know and you should save over Home Depot. It's also just more fun to go here. They say they open registers if there is more than three people but in my experience this isn't true. Sometimes there is a lot of people waiting in line. Once I had just one item I wanted to pay for and there was loads of people in line with many items. Menards in Cicero has the worst employees ever! My father In law bought a heater and tried to return it 2months before the insurance finished and they refuse to change it! The manager was super rude when I asked to speak with her! She simply said we needed a receipt and that it was our problem if we didn't have one!
